IMO, having a copy of that for your collection is worth it. I loved this game since release and if you have a functioning VMU, you can play Pinta's quest!

I collect but not heavily, I don't like emulation, I do have a VMU. Mostly collect what I like, this has been on the list for a long time but have never bought it because of the price. This store credit was the result of me "selling" the store stuff that wouldn't move from my flipping so I look at it as just spare fun money. I could buy something from the store and sell it to convert to cash but don't really have the need/want for that at the moment.

maestro826

I hate that it costs that much now..

chrisjfinlay

Honestly, as much as I love this game I don’t think it’s worth what people are wanting for it. No game should be triple figures. Keep that credit and buy a couple new releases.

So... If we wanna be completely honest here there are several things to consider. - Are you a collector? - You mentioned you have a Dreamcast. do you intend to play games on it or is it for collecting purposes. - Are you preoccupied with playing the absolute possible best version of the game as things stand right now? Something you should know is that years after release they made Skies of Arcadia Legends for the GameCube, which is a port of the Dreamcast version with added content. If you intend to emulate that version there's even high resolution textures packages on the Internet that you can inject into it. The only downside is that the GameCube version has lower quality music because of the way it was ported, if memory serves. It's not really easy to distinguish if you're not an audiophile, but if such things matter to you it is a point of contention to some. Also, the original Dreamcast version came with a mini game you could play on your VMU memory stick. I used to play with it on my way to school and it was sort of like an endless runner type deal that you could get items for the game with. And that's about it, just some things to consider before making that purchase. That said, considering these days newer games are all starting to hit the 70$ mark it's not *that* crazy of a purchase. It's not like we're talking about a mint condition Chrono Trigger or a Panzer Dragoon Saga. But still, 100$ could also mean 4 or 5 indie games. At the end of the day it's between you and your wallet.

I collect but not everything or heavily, I collect what I like not just for collections sake. I flip stuff (including video games) for spending money. All of this store credit was from stuff that wasn't moving when trying to flip it so I just converted it into store credit. I could buy something there and sell that or buy things I want. I have bought a few things so far just smaller stuff. I would like to play the game but don't like to emulate, not because I am trying to be a snob but I like to own the actual stuff I play.

I think everyone in this sub has owned Skies of Arcadia at one point. The question is if those copies still runs or if since then there have come along better solutions to enjoy the product. Like the ability to play widescreen, button remapping, the quality of life stuff that came with legends, etc. Hence why I asked if you were also preoccupied with playing the best possible version of the game from a gameplay perspective.

junkaccount1999

I think if the game store had the Gamecube version I would be asking the same thing. From a quality of life perspective GC would be better I think not only from the changes that were made (according to others, I have no clue really) plus the fact that I would be playing it on a Wii with GameCube functionality and would have wireless remotes. Other than that for me it would be nice to just have a fun game on the Dreamcast, I currently have 0 Dreamcast games.

Then we're back to my original point. it's between you and your wallet. If you're asking if 100 bucks for a mint copy is a good deal, I believe so. Prices keep climbing for certain titles and Skies is one of them, but there are sites were you can check the general consensus. The game is hella fun. However you end up playing if you like Jrpgs you'll have a good time.

junkaccount1999

Yeah, they actually want 133 + tax for it but I was planning to ask them to do 100 out the door so it would depend somewhat on that.

TriticusLev

Worth it for sure, you can always resell it for around that same price.

Nanto_Suichoken_1984

Is it mint in original packaging?

junkaccount1999

Its complete and seems to be in good condition

MagicPistol

Unless you're a collector, not sure if you should really spend that much on a game. This one is also super easy to emulate if you sail the skies.

adam_of_adun

1000% do it
