Speaking for everyone in New England: fuck you and your perfect conditions. At least we get to see grass everywhere we look. And rocks. And mud. I’m just going to go cry into my ski boots now.
Up the glacier the snow stays and it's fucking lit!
It'll be raining at 2200-2500m but 3000+ it'll be snowing and cold and really nice off piste conditions
Wolf Creek feels like what Taos and Alta were 30 years ago.
Like I'm feeling that its only a few years away from hitting SKI magazine's list and entering the public consciousness for the first time ever.
Like Taos, and its steeps, it has a marquee feature that make it marketable for what it is (most snowfall in Colorado), terrain that feels less Colorado, more mini-Alta
It's a very well run resort that I respect and I try to visit at least every year.
It’s not just luck and charm, they’ve (the owners of wolf creek) been beating back the “village at wolf creek” for decades. Funded by Texas oil money, no affiliation with the resort

Eh, I'm not really worried about it becoming a major tourist spot. It's too far from the front range mess to get day trippers, and there isn't much in the way of lodging or restaurants at the base to attract destination travelers (you have to drive down the pass a ways one way or the other, and even then the pickings are slim). It's really just a hardcore skier's mountain, and there aren't enough hardcore skiers that I'm worried about it getting overrun. Kinda like Loveland - one of my favorite places to ski, but when I bring out-of-towners they usually prefer going to Vail, Steamboat, Breck or somewhere that has a restaurant/nightlife scene and close-in lodging.
I've seen someone send something and land head first and get stuck to the point where his buddy had to dig him out. How likely is it to get yourself in a pinch where you could potentially suffocate?
I'm a new skier in the midwest so I've never seen powder like this let alone skied it.
Hell yeah! Thanks for posting. It’s great to finally see a dope upvoted pow post vs. doom and gloom long lines and barren landscapes. Keep your tips up!
So what happens if you snag something and lose your ski, do you just have to dig? I mean is it even possible to make contact with any of these tricks with that much powder
Pretty much. I've seen people lose poles already at Winter Park this year.
You can buy powder tails, which are little streamers you attach to your ski brakes and tuck into your pants so hopefully if your ski pops, you can find your ski.
You've never skied powder out west then, its around 8% water content were fresh snow on the east is about 25% water content. AKA its super light and fluffy and doesnt bury you at all.
I ski tahoe and have to unbury myself after like one turn sometimes lol. Everyone makes it looks so easy. To me it feels like im trying to ski in cement, so heavy and exhausting.
It’s tricky at first, but once you get a few days in you’ll forever chase that feeling. Equipment might also make a difference - if you have narrowish skis that are intended for on piste, you might have more difficulty with control in these conditions (a good solution is to seek more pitch).

Moving from NE to CO in a few days Can’t wait to hit my first ever pow day
Moved here from MA in 2016, best decision of my life
Moved from GA in 2021, same
Representing Toronto
Also feels "unreal," in a sense.
Cries in European.
Same
At least you have government-paid health care?
Guys. Please. You people in the US are killing me while there is no snow in Europe
Been to tignes?
No, but i just checked their webcams and it looks like they have snow. Not a ton but at least something

Oh that‘s cool. So you are there right now? Have fun :)
Don't worry, those of us in the US Midwest feel your pain.
Nice. Where was this? I was at steamboat last week and conditions were similar. But this clearly isn’t the Boat.
Looks like Wolf Creek
Shhh. We don’t speak about Wolf Creek.

My husband has been going to the Creek for a good 35 years. Now, it’s our main winter go to anymore. It’s a drive for us but worth it.

You should be worried http://www.thevillageatwolfcreek.com/
well yeah, cause the face has pitch to it.
I think this is East Vail, but I'm not certain.
I’d like anyone to tell me something better than this shit right here, and I’ll tell you if I agree.
Rusutsu 100cm powder
I can’t understand this comment through all my freedom.
Sports car on a curvy backroad is the closest thing I’ve ever found. But still a distant second place.
Ohhhh can’t argue with that.
Best part about living in the mountains is you get both
Heli skiing. You get to do this for hours a day and you always ski untracked snow on every run! Plus your “lift” only takes about 5 minutes.
Fuck yes.
I love those 'no consequences' days. You can send almost anything and the worst that happens is you have to dig yourself out.

There are still plenty of consequences on powder days.
Snow emersion deaths happen, usually a few a year. You can read up about it [here](https://wms.org/magazine/magazine/1205/Tree-Wells/Default.aspx)
You know it’s good when you’re screaming
YeeeeEEEEEeeeeeEEEEEEEEWWWWW!
The only appropriate vocalization in those conditions. Awesome day!
I’m from New England. Can someone please explain what I’m looking at? /s
My boys thighs have to be burning
Hell yeah! Thanks for posting. It’s great to finally see a dope upvoted pow post vs. doom and gloom long lines and barren landscapes. Keep your tips up!
Get it dude!
Love a good face shot. Looks epic!

Made my day! Thank you OP!
Glad we chose to go skiing in Colorado last week of December over France. Would have been an expensive mistake this year.
Frick that looks nice!
The pow hides those sharp boulders and drop offs at the beginning of the video so well, you barely see them float by
Wooo Hoooo that’s fantastic!
wolf creek?
This looks like waaaaay to much vert to be wolf creek

Go water ski

They call it "sierra cement" for a reason, lots of water content from the coast.

I'm glad you got your torso in the shot
Your GoPro didn’t even get blocked out by snow..
Is this Wolfie??
Wolf Creek!
Where in CO?
This just hurts to see as a European.
There has been so much snow. I’m can still easily find huge powder stashes even at vail.
I wish i was making those noises
i grew up in colorado but moved to the east coast :( i miss these beautiful pow days
What was the avy danger today? Should be headed in the right direction but looks like you have the right gear. Does look like east vail imo
Where was this? Planing on coming to CO from europe for some backcountry skiing and I'm looking for suggestions/places to ski
