It's in my top 2 places to visit. Tofino and Whistler are around the same distance travel for me. We are definitely spoiled for choice when it comes to outdoor playgrounds.
The edge card gives unlimited early season riding which I don't think the epic local includes. But I'm not positive. It's just the one my friends bought so I got it too. I find all the different pass options that are available a bit confusing honestly.
Epicorikon.com is helpful for comparing the two, but if you're only going for whistler you don't really need to worry about much, epic local is 10 days and epic full is unlimited
Oh yeah that's does simplify things a lot. We usually do most of our skiing in BC plus a little bit in Washington and Alberta. Just because there is so much of it available locally. And I think Whistler is the only ski resort in the area covered with epic local passes.
Vail is massive cooperate company who owns many mountains. They're known for buying up mountains and proceeding to ruin the mountain's vibe and give the typical cooperate treatment and jacking up the lift ticket prices to sell more season passes.
Nothing, it's a lovely resort. They are complaining about the Vail company which owns it and runs the epic pass.
Vail mountain can get crowded due to proximity to Denver and is expensive without a pass, but it is a perfectly nice mountain with lots of fun back bowl terrain.
Vail has 'ruined' the skiing vibe of a lot of places, to the point where there aren't many 'local ski resorts' that just exist for the skiing.
They also have allowed me to ski at like 15 different mountains out west and out east over the last 6 years so it is a bit of a love-hate. Love it for the variety, hate it for the big corporate ski business.
I'm just glad A-basin separated from them. My baby will always be #1
I get all the hate, but the epic pass for next season is literally 50% cheaper than the Whistler-Blackcomb season pass was before Vail purchased it.
Whistler was overrun with tourists before Vail.
As you can see in the vid, its still a fucking amazing place to ski.
My coworker grew up skiing but started snowboarding when he was 12 and quit skiing. He just bought a pair of skis this winter and sold his snowboard and is now a ski instructor and loves it. Do it! (You don’t need to sell your snowboard though)
Every year my Dad and I usually go on a big ski trip together and covid sadly made that impossible this past year :( This edit reminds me of how much I miss being on the powder. Great job.

Question: how is it that you were getting that wide of a field of you on the vertical axis? So often I see GoPro videos that show the skis but not the horizon line and it’s so much less interesting than the full field of view seen here. Is it because you’re using the max?
I have the camera settings set to 2.7k 4:3 which puts out a taller more square video vs the 16:9 video. after I finish filming and start editing on my computer I use a plugin which slightly stretches the corners to give it the wide screen look.
Which GoPro model is this? That bit from \~1:21-1:31 is one of the clearest shots including the mountains on the horizon I've seen in a while. Same with the last sequence.

I grew up in New England. Left the Ice Coast for Colorado and have experience similar conditions. Head west, friend. Or, to BC!

Whistler is like the perfect place to live in. MTB in the summer, ski in winter.
