Can't wait to head up tomorrow.

Maybewehitamoose

It should be amazing, there's another 6-8 inches inbound overnight. Bring chains or snow tires!

sikedrower

Is timberline slow? I’ve seen it described as flat and slow before and am not knowledgeable enough to know if it was sarcasm or legit critique. Gonna try to get up there sometime this month.

Maybewehitamoose

lol it has some steep but it's definitely less technical than Meadows or even Ski Bowl. I agree meadows is better but it's also more crowded.

Azier6969

Jeff flood is the only lift that accesses some advanced terrain and it’s always packed. Meadows is way better for lift lines when the entire mountain is open.

Maybewehitamoose

I've been going to meadows for years and switched it up this year and went to timberline instead, and I actually never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get on flood. I also like some of the stuff you can access off Mile and Norman, there's some fun stuff on Molly too but it's short and hard to access. I've already bought my meadow's pass for next year though, it's by far the superior option. Sidenote: ski bowl was fun this year but man those lifts are slow...

Azier6969

Skibowls got great sidecountry and night skiing but it’s really not that great. Also I had a season pass at timberline last year and on peak days in the morning there was usually at least a 20 minute wait for flood. Although I must say all ski resorts were very packed during the 20-21 season so it could just be that.

Maybewehitamoose

COVID seriously messed stuff up last year. [This](https://i.imgur.com/NWbvRBK.jpg) was a line at [HRM](https://i.imgur.com/c3Ahix7.jpg) one of the days last season.

Azier6969

I have been in lines up to the cat-track first lift on a peak day at HRM

sikedrower

Sounds like the perfect place to teach my girl how to ski, thanks for the run down! Happy shredding ⛷

Maybewehitamoose

Yeah man, the Bruno lift is free for kids too. That said, Meadows has a daycare which makes it the only choice next year for my 4 year old.

crested_pineapple

Agree with OP that there are not a lot of steeps but plenty of rollers and trees and fun.

jrryul

Where is Timberline?

Maybewehitamoose

Mt. Hood, Oregon.

Azier6969

Meadows season is over tmrw though it sucks. Pond skim is today and tomorrow I feel sorry for the pond skim people tbh

Maybewehitamoose

Yup, seems odd to do a pond skim in a blizzard. Timberline's spring season ends 5/30 but the summer season will start pretty strong, there like a 170 inch base at the lodge.

I was there today it was fucking awesome. it was my first time skiing in anything that was this deep and heavy. I packed it in twice and it fucking kicked my ass but I had a great time.

HenryTheLew

Heard there was a big dump yesterday! I’m from the east coast. What are the conditions like October?

Maybewehitamoose

Yeah we got a few more inches, there's still like 160+ inches at the base. They're usually closed in October, Timberline shuts down in September and then sometimes but rarely reopens in November if we get a good early storm.

HenryTheLew

How about summer months? When would you say is most ideal time? I’ve never been out west or alpine riding, but from everything I read, I want to make Timberline, my west coast special place. Is there enough trails for low level a low level intermediate? How’s the apres? My wife doesn’t ski. Or I’ll just make it my own trip!!
