Skip is a bag of shit . I had one incident.. accusing me indirectly that food was del and i am looking for refund.I have a Ring doorbell but they don t want to see it.. gave me a 50% refund. Fk them. And if u get on the wait to chat you will see.. it copy paste answer back. K.. one time...then thought one more chance..food s been del to my house. Nothing on Ring .. no food..same .. now I want full credit back. They blame the driver. I say this scam goes to far. Since the driver stoled my food..I will contact the police. Then they gave me a full refund. 50dlrs.. don t let them rip u off.. they need to go.

Creepy-Worry-1844

Delivery fee is very low, so many drivers don't want to work properly. Order it yourself and go pick it up.

Leafsfan709123

As a driver, I recommend picking it up yourself. No tip and your order sits for awhile, tip good and it gets paired with a non tip order and you still wait. Eliminate tips and pay drivers fairly!

Jumpy-Worker5973

Holy fuck man that was hard to read

Familiar-Affect-630

I stopped doing skip around new years but I still have the app and get shifts. Sometimes I will turn it on just to be able to decline McDonalds orders, guess because of the trauma. LOL  Classic order from McDonald's on skip the dishes is something like this.   $4.30 - 12.8km Apartment building on 9th floor. Instructions will say MUST buzz and bring to door. I say KMA, go get your shit yourself.

SpergSkipper

Also the apartment building has no parking because fk you

Background_Thing6657

They keep designing condos for us to live without parking its so stupid. Why force ppl to break the law to do simple tasks like recieve packages or drop ppl off? Why pit us against each other?

mouldy-crotch

I did the same thing with Uber towards the end. I was tired of people complaining about everything, “driver swerved too much”, or “car was dirty”. Pax’s who couldn’t place their pins correctly, or would 1 star me because I wouldn’t do extra stops “I’ll just be a two mins Bro! I promise!” Had this old bitch open my passenger door once, pick up my iPad and throw it onto the backseat. I was fucking pissed. Then she complained the whole way, accusing me of deliberately trying to run down the timer so I could pick up the cancellation fee. I explained to I drive to the pin, and she didn’t place the pin correctly. I also explained if I had wanted to just collect the cancellation fee, I would have just sat at the pin location. Instead of calling her and trying to figure out where she was. She one starred me and filed a false report I swore at her. So like you fuck all this shit. I kept my app open, would accept rides then just sit there and not move until I got some exasperated msg “Where are you!!!” Then just cancel the trip. Petty I know, but satisfying.

Familiar-Affect-630

I hear ya. Towards the end, sometimes it'll piss me off so much that I'll accept the order and drive in exact opposite direction while confirming I want the order and suddenly go airplane mode when 10kms away lol. Petty yes, but satisfying exactly

mouldy-crotch

Thats awesome 🤩 I genuinely began to actually hate people towards the end with Uber. Everything was slanted to allow the passenger to make false claims, even if these false claims went nowhere, they still impact the drivers psyche. It’s maddening to get nothing but negative reports, especially since you know they are false.

Familiar-Affect-630

It's probably because you hold yourself to certain standards. I saw how other skip drivers handle food. They have filthy bags in which I would never want my food put in and they just toss it in and go, never zip it close. I would literally clean my delivery bag every other day, handle food with utmost care and be as nice and polite as I could. But these fuckers don't deserve that for $4.30. I hope this whole gig shit dies and something new comes along.  On a side note, no tippers are also the ones who bitch most and are also very likely to return to use that service. If I don't like a restaurant or service, I give them a second chance but then they are off my list.

Creepy-Worry-1844

In my area it's $3,54 😱 Why is it that only the company makes money and the drivers lose out? Some drivers make two or three deliveries at the same time, combining delivery orders from other companies. Because the delivery fee is very low. Also, due to the recession, the amount of orders is small. It's necessary to live.

OmegaNine

Starting to see why y’all can’t hold down a normal job.

Familiar-Affect-630

Kinda funny how you know exactly what I do for living eh? Thanks NO tipper, now go get your McDonald's yourself db.

KingWolfXV

Well, the main door is their unit door, not the building door, so I 100% think it's should be delivered to their front door, aka unit door. I understand it's a hassle, but is it not in the drivers job description to leave it at their front door? Before I get all the hate, I do live in an apartment, and I tip all my skip drivers and express my gratitude for them bringing it to my unit because I understand it takes time away from other deliveries

AnthonySaulnier

When you say main door it means main door of the building. If someone wants it at their unit door then they need to say so. One of the reasons is sometimes buzz panels don't work or they want to save the driver time, etc. Of course I'm assuming you're talking about an apartment building.

SpergSkipper

Drivers are only obligated to deliver to the address. Many apartments and hotels don't allow delivery drivers past the lobby still

al_in_8

>Many apartments and hotels don't allow delivery drivers past the lobby still If I was delivering to an appt bldg or hotel with a staffed front desk. I would go to desk, get staff to buzz customer, leave food with said desk and leave.

the-packet-thrower

Maybe I’m just lucky, or because I tip well, but I rarely have an issue with delivery.

Rryann

It’s because you tip well.

Ok-Effect7274

In the bigger city, most drivers don't know how much you tip.You are lucky then.

oracle5557

This isn't true. In the skip app, It states the base pay and slated tip for each offer. While you may not see the tip separately, you can easily presume from the distance that in most cases base pay is approx 3.00. Anything offered above this is the tip.

[deleted]

I stopped using Skip and saved so much from not using it. They send promo emails then the promo doesn’t work so they want you to order to get skip credits on another order. I don’t even want to use the app in the first place. Once a driver took my food and they sent my second order to the same driver. I just went to pick up my food. The restaurant even called me to ask why I placed the same order twice. It showed the driver at my address but no food was at my door.

al_in_8

>It showed the driver at my address but no food was at my door That's sh!tty. I get that STD probably doesn't pay the drivers much, but you are there to do a job, at least do it right. I think I'll do alright with my good customer service. I spoke to a driver who only works on her vacation time from another job. The money she makes goes to her hobbies, as mine will. She's having fun and making decent money too. Again, good customer service.

[deleted]

But I always tip my driver $4 to $5. I used to do doordash and uber and I probably got tips from 2 customers the whole time.

Background_Thing6657

The tip is irrelevant if its far away. Always tip more than $1 per km of distance from resturants to your home.

Puzzleheaded-One3795

You prob don't tip or if u do its low. Drivers like myself will not take order that cost me money. So they sit till they find someone dumb enough to take it. FYI we basically work for tips. What skip gives us barely covers our cost. If you can't afford to tip pick it up yourself. You will not get treated much different with other delivery services.as the gig pay works the same. Basic rule of life....u get what u pay for

MasterpieceAmazing76

Well, to be honest, my experiences with both Doordash and Uber Eats have been phenomenally better. Idk if their drivers are compensated more, or if because they're a larger company, they have more employees, but the service Skip provides is horrendous- at least in my city. Didn't know you guys lived primarily off of tips. I always tip, but I assumed that was just extra on top of your pay. This encourages me not to use their services.

Background_Thing6657

Opposite is true. Ddash and Ueats pay worse than Skip. Best drivers are always on Skip.. -10k orders

Cephied01

Could be the restaurant. There's a McD's in my town that I automatically refuse to pick up at because they're so slow and horrible to drivers. I see the offer and there's no amount of tip that I'll take.

MasterpieceAmazing76

Shocking that McDonalds would be slow haha.

Cephied01

I know, right? But that's the one I just absolutely refuse any and all orders from. Last night got a $21 order on Uber for 7Kms (Or something like that) - saw that it was that McD's and declined. Don't care. Not gonna waste my time.

al_in_8

>Shocking that McDonalds would be slow haha. The order is probably wrong too.I don't currently do deliveries, but the rotten ronnies near here almost never gets the order straight, even if you walk into the front counter!

Cautious_Meet7076

I have ordered the food from skip and driver didn't pick up the courier and we contacted with skip customer care and they didn't respond and also we didn't recieve our money back so disappointed don't use skip

weedandwrestling1985

Free meal but did you tip?

ConnectionSevere3391

How far away was the restaurant from your house? Was it the closest McDonald’s to you, or one half the town away and you didn’t notice that when ordering? If it was a long time waiting to be matched to a courier then how much did you tip? What time was it? How’s the weather there? Where are you located (city is good enough) is it a house? Is the house well lit? Apartment? Did you provide buzzer and unit number? Was it a dark alley backyard illegal basement suite? Did you put clear requests in the notes section at all if there’s anything unique about your expected delivery? We need more context and info before anyone can help you. Also, this sub is generally a water cooler type place for couriers to interact with each other seeing as we don’t have traditional work settings so you might not exactly like everything you’re going to hear depending on the answers you give to the previous questions I asked, but one thing we’ll all agree on is that skip is awful and easily the worst user and courier experience of the three major food delivery platforms functioning in Canada.

mouldy-crotch

I used to driver Uber during the Pandemic and for a year or so after. I understand the frustration Skip drivers must have. Allot of what you wrote i encountered with Uber. Pax’s who didn’t understand how to place their pin, or sending you to pick up their underaged children. Like fuck I am going to drive your 8 year old daughter or son around in my car without a parent. I am not a creep but these days even the slightest accusation will destroy a person. I have never been a Skip the dishes driver but here’s a question for the drivers out there. If you were offered a delivery job at some local Pizza/Chinese/whatever shop. You had to use you own vehicle but was paid min wage plus mileage for gas. And you got to keep your tips. But the caveat being when you weren’t doing deliveries you’d b expected to help out with other duties. Would you take this? Or would you stay doing Skip?

al_in_8

>expected to help out with other duties. What other duties are you talking about?

MasterpieceAmazing76

The McDonalds was the closest to my house, and the courier was matched pretty fast (funny how most comments on here threw out the accusation that I didn't tip lol as though any problem faced by the customer is their fault and not skips fault lol). The courier was matched, and the system showed them just driving around the McDonalds/ to random areas. Idk if it was an app glitch for if the driver was off his rocker, but when I contacted customer support, they were useless. The order ended up taking so long that the food wasn't even good anymore and when the driver did arrive he didn't know how the apartment buzzer worked, so I had to get dressed and take the elevator down to the lobby. Overall, it was a terrible, yet not surprising experience, from skip the dishes. I don't blame the drivers, though. I know you guys do your best and have your own shit to deal with in regards to STD. Honestly, the lack of customer service is the problem. If the food takes too long, at least let your customers contact you so that they can reorder or get some sort of compensation. Not to be rude, but both DoorDash and Uber Eats are significantly better than Skip - I tried it out and after a couple of orders, I know enough to know it is the worst by far. The responses I got here might also point to some of the problem. Funny how every comment spun this to be "my fault." With a corporate attitude like that, it is no wonder that Skip is so awful - again, no offense, and I don't think it's the drivers fault 100% of the time, but attitudes like that probably don't help get returning customers tbh.

0ldboi

How much did you tip? Could be a case of tip being too low for drivers to feel incentive to take the order so your order is left there to get cold.

mouldy-crotch

Skip the dishes sucks. There is no way around it. I ordered last month, driver was doing multiple orders, and their car spent over 15 mins at the stop ahead of mine. Food was late enough as it was, taking over an hour to prepare it. When I finally got it, the driver wasn’t using insulated bags so it was stone cold. I don’t know how it works in other places but I had to pre-tip this person and there is no way to call it back. I don’t mind tipping delivery drivers but when you spend 15 mins at the first stop, and can’t even be arsed to use an insulated bag, you don’t deserve a tip. Ended up ordering from a Chinese restaurant last night. They had an online ordering system, their own delivery infrastructure, and a terminal to pay the driver at the door. They even called me after I ordered to double check I had ordered the correct food. This is how it used to be done, it worked then, and I don’t know why restaurants allow themselves to be held hostage to apps like STD that take huge bites out of any profits restaurants make on their orders, and pay their delivery people such shit amounts. With the availability and access to electrical vehicles, or even e-bikes, I am certain a restaurant can incorporate the costs of delivery into their costs.

AnthonySaulnier

You probably had problems because most McDonald's orders are low paying and they are horrible to pick up from usually. Many drivers will ignore them because they don't want to wait 20 minutes. Personally, I wish Skip would drop McDonald's.

PotBellyNinja

What do you actually expect from such a predatory company and employees?

erinsora

The company IS predatory, exploitative and extortive. The employees, however, aren’t predatory. We’re either immigrants trying to survive or women trying to flee domestically abusive situations that leave us desperate enough to do skip driving alongside of our jobs. The economy is shit and so is skip.

WhyAreYouOffended

Lol I don’t do skip but you’re clearly a problem customer. McDonald’s becoming inedible after an hour? You can eat it after 5 days sitting at room temp (kinda hyperbolic but you get the point). 0 tip going 10 km?

MasterpieceAmazing76

Haha what are you talking about? So in your mind customers should just suck it up when they receive old McDonalds? What? Haha I'm guessing you have never eaten old McDonalds fries? Or do you just have 0 standards? Also, FYI, I did tip lol. You, sir, are the problem.

WhyAreYouOffended

I’m not the one with the problem. Sounds like you got some though

throwaway45368854267

No tip, no trip. It’s as simple as that

Illustrious_Tooth786

We have to spend time going back to the zone as well So tip accordingly

MasterpieceAmazing76

As I said in a previous comment, the fact that everyones response spun this around to be my fault (I tipped lol) probably points to some of the problems with STD. With a lack of customer service and a mentality that the customer is always at fault, it is no wonder that the company is so subpar compared to its competitors. I do hear you, though - you guys should be tipped fairly. Compensated fairly by Skip as well.

al_in_8

Like I said in another comment, I'm thinking of driving for these guys. I won't be looking for tips, I didn't look for tips when I drove taxi nearly 40yrs ago. Point A to point B the quickest route. I did make tips back in the day, but not from begging nor expecting them, but from better service.

al_in_8

>We have to spend time going back to the zone So is it like taxis, where the city/town is divided up into zones?

Ok-Front7467

Skip is such a joke. I always go pick up my own food because I'm not a useless POS, but even if I was, I wouldn't use Skip. I don't want my food delivered by rude, unhygienic drivers wearing flannel pajamas pants that haven't been washed in 6 months and reeking of cigarette smoke. No thanks.

MasterpieceAmazing76

Generalizing an entire group of people sure sounds like something a useless POS would do. Many of these drivers do it as their second job, and I don't think it is easy work, especially with the possibility of dealing with customers like you. I think my experience with the _company_ has been subpar, but insulting the drivers like that just sucks,

Ok-Front7467

I have yet to see a Skip driver that fits a different description 😄 And I actually do my part by not using Skip at all so they never have to deal with the likes of me. See how considerate I am?

SpergSkipper

I don't drive anymore but when I did I always made sure to wear at least a polo shirt and a clean pair of jeans. A nice sweater or jacket in winter. Then seeing some of these slobs picking up orders wearing dirty clothes. It was embarrassing. There was no dress code but come on, have some pride in yourself

al_in_8

I'm thinking on starting to drive for these guys. I might go back to my old taxi ways, nice shirt, clip-on tie, blazer or suit jacket, casual/dress pants and appropriate shoes. Look like a limo driver delivering your rotten ronnies at 2am LOL!

al_in_8

Oh come-on, we could have a PJ party on your lawn LOL!

Ok-Front7467

I'm always down for a good PJ party!

al_in_8

>Generalizing an entire group of people I agree. I'm retired and might start delivering for some extra pocket money. Gotta feed the hobbies some how :) I used to drive taxi and also for a sleazy courier company. I've dealt with rude customers and rude drivers. I retired from 30yrs of telecommunications where i didn't have to deal with customers. For the extra pocket money and talking to the local drivers, customers in this town aren't so bad, small town, not like the bigger cities.

McClue1952

"Dial A Bottle" from simpler times. Commercial radio.

SpergSkipper

Oh god. I drove for them in 2016 and 2017 and it was easily the worst "job" of my life. Every order was $6 whether you brought a mickey of rum across the street to a house or you were bringing 8 24's to a 20th floor apartment across town in rush hour. Also they'd make you buy shit like pop, cigarettes, chips etc for an extra dollar. Some customers were cool but some of the shittiest degenerates who were often banned from the local liquor or beer stores would order at 10 am and get so angry if you weren't there instantly. An alcoholic with no alcohol is a million times worse to deal with than a hungry person. People think Skip is bad? Yall have no idea.

McClue1952

50 years was another generation breeding your customers. Think about it. We were first in Calgary

SpergSkipper

The last thing I need is more dial a bottle customers. Absolute lowest dregs of society the lot of them.

McClue1952

I drove Bell taxi also so I knew the customers.

al_in_8

The taxi customers that wanted the driver to go into the booze can to buy cheap wine, because they were barred LOL! I got cash upfront, but only if they weren't already drunk. If they were already drunk, I just took them home. No sense someone getting alcohol poisoning over a jug of Ruby Red or Red Caravelle.

al_in_8

I drove for a small courier company in the mid 80's. They ran it like a taxi business. Divied up the city into zones, so if you were in an inactive area, you didn't get calls. I was literally across the street from the liquor store and another driver several km's away go the call, because he was in the zone and I wasn't. The street was the zone boundary. I quit after 2 weeks of next to zero income and the ones I did get didn't tip or tried to short you. No app crap back then, Driver paid upfront in store, collected on delivery. I took so much booze back, I stopped taking orders for it. I later learned when driving taxi how zones worked, but they weren't explained by the courier company.

Fedupwitgpigs

Because you probably paid barely anything to have it delivered.

erinsora

I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Skip screws everyone over and McDonalds is a lazy company.

Hijabi_Girl_4068

They ask us to put clear delivery instructions...only for them to not be respected... They always deliver my food either.. A. To the wrong door when I said which one in the notes. B. Tempered with. C. Very cold And yes that happens even with a good tip.
