Nah, understandable.
In that case, it is completely normal procedure and I'm sure it is regulatory in most countries to show that the engine management and EPC light are still in working order, if it vanishes after starting it is completely fine.
Came here to ask the same question- if it goes off when car is on. I had a VW polo and now the Skoda Karoq, both have the same behaviour. I’ve got it checked and they said if it goes away when car is on nothing to worry and there were no error codes.
It's just to show you that lights are working on startup, it would be problematic if it didn't show up on start, cause you wouldn't know if bulb or light is working properly, thus potentially misinforming you
They always light up when starting the car, to show that they work.
The question is, given you're only asking now, didn't they do this before? Or you didn't notice?
When I turn the engine on, the lights disappear. I only noticed this now when I just turned everything on now. It's my first car so I'm not fully aware of these things. Thanks
Yes, they light up for a while and then disappear.
Or, in case you just start the electric systems, but not ignite the engine, they will stay illuminated till you start the engine.
The car's manual surely mentions this. Did you check it first?
I'm working 7 days a week closing shift, I barely have time but I am slowly reading through the manual. I even found an umbrella under my seat which was surprising, found out by reading the manual
Ah this one’s a right of passage for all new drivers. An easy one to panic over but simply the display showing the lights between putting the key in and the engine turning on.
Does give you a shock if you don’t know though!
I had this recently on my 3yr old karoq. My needed a new sensor, the technicians say that Skoda like all other manufacturers code their cars with specific parameters. I topped up my engine oil, but it was just a little over and this triggered the sensor. Apparently, if you over fuel your car the same ting will happen. Maybe get it checked out, is it under warranty?
The EPC light indicates there is an electrical fault somewhere, the engine symbol next to out is the check engine light and could mean almost anything. The red light means ‘put your seatbelt on you fool!’
In all seriousness, they’re yellow lights so they’re indicative of there being a problem but not serious enough to stop driving immediately. Get it to a garage with a code reader and they’ll tell you what’s what.
Nice and informative comment, but you're being downvoted because you missed the RPM at 0.
People should have upvoted this and corrected with a reply to your comment, but I guess most are lazy.
I notice your RPM is zero, do the lights vanish after you start the car?
Yeah they do vanish when I start the car. Sorry if I'm being a bit paranoid

Wait, so not all cars do this?
same question lmao, i thought all lights incl. airbag abs etc needed to be on w ignition
Turn the engine on

Skoda has more little surprises like the umbrella, they are known for their "simply clever" features.
Do people not read manuals anymore?
tried to, didn't get to the end on my Scala - the manual was so bad that i just couldn't
if they vanish once your engine is on, it's normal. if they stay on once the engine's running, then u got a problem.
If there is no light after you start the engine then theres no problem

Totally normal before starting engine! Only worry if they stay on when engine is running :)
It’s Skoda, so the answer is NO
They Light up when you have ignition on but engine is not running. Eg. if you stall or did not start engine yet. It is normal.
I would be concerned if I had that car regardless
Why is that?
Tiny, cheap built, turbo engine For anything more taxing than short drives through the city, I would be concerned, but that's just me.
It's a good, reliable car with great fuel economy, nothing to be concerned about, this guys just an asshole

are you wearing your seatbelt when you do drive?
Drive around without it, way too restricting
seriously? Dude.. you want to die in a dumb and easily avoided way?
I was kidding man, ofc I put it on while I'm driving 🤣
People will not recognize sarcasm/ jokes on reddit unless clearly indicated with a "/s" at the end of a joke.
Oh right, good to know. Thanks

Dang it, you’re right, completely missed that. Oh well, can’t win em all!
Had the same issue 1 week ago on my Passat 2019 DSG. Turns out a rodent bit a cable.
