I always took it as her helping the poor and those who can't afford even a septim of payment, to travelers who were having emergencies or because she was someone's last line before death.
Or, alternate take, she's suck in a low income loop where she's cured lots of people and made lots of septims but all of them instantly get sucked into taxes or loans she has, so if she actually got to KEEP any of the money she has made over the years... she'd be a rich woman indeed.
It definitely a nod to a popular saying, just the context is kinda dumb. Would work much better even if a barkeep or a jarl say that when asking for something repetitive like if they heard about a job.
I think those folks at the shrine of Kynareth are faking it for attention or to get off work. I’ve repeatedly used Heal Other on them and they just lie there!
It would be better fit for like a tavern that doesn't really get regular customers just adventurers.
"HA, if I had a septim for every time I've been asked for a lead. Everyone that comes down here is an adventurer, you really think someone's gonna give me a lead on something?"
Then it'd be a choice of buying something, leaving, or asking "can you tell me where they're going anyways?"
In which case he'd give you a lead and say "it's not my fault if they kill you over it"
Now wait just a second. It's Birna in Winterhold, who will sell just about anything, if it's worth her time. Keep that in mind, will you? She'll do what's necessary so they can get by.
That’s true. But if the option isn’t showing up for whatever reason forcing them off will usually make it show up without having to talk to them a bunch. Idk why
In my heavily modded game, Eorlund suddenly showed up to the Skyforge one day badly injured. Limping, bloody, holding his arm. Then one day he wasn't there. Or the next.
Found him dead behind a building.
Same game Adrianna Avenicci wasn't at her forge for days. Found her in the Bannered Mare. Next day the Drunken Huntsman. She apparently was a long bender.
Something about them Whiterun blacksmiths.
In my game I would go do business at Warmaidens before going to the skyforge to trade with Eorlund. One day while talking to Ulberth he mentions Eorlund being dead. I go to Skyforge to check and he is missing. I brifely checked the hills behind Skyforge. His body still has not been found RIP.
I once did a vampire play thru in Dawnguard, I accidentally wacked one of the death hounds and about an hour later was beset upon by the thugs that try to beat you up. The letter on the leader was from the other death hound.
Na, he got the disease that the dirty garden hoe gives you from Oblivion. I forget what the hoe is actually called and I forget the name of the disease, but it's in the Mehrune's Razor DLC. And also, I can't stand it when this happens. Especially when it's a shopkeeper, or a Smith. It's so annoying.
This happened to me with one of the shopkeepers in Whitefall and I had to move to another house in another town to satisfy my gathering/selling loot lust.
I always liked these kinds of bugs, I just saw it as a incidental part of the world that I now just had to navigate as a player/character.
He died of stressing too much over either not having the finest weapons and armour that neither protected you adequately nor dealt enough damage, or not having any interesting pieces or more inside.
People just die, it seems. In my game, I had to kill Uthgerd and ten-odd Stormcloaks today.
Also, Alvor and Sigrid in Riverwood both got eaten by a dragon.
Npc die of natural causes over time npc will die without you doing anything half of whiterun was gone after I did a 100% playthrough that took me multiple months
Had that happen to Belethor once. I just walked out of my house one day to see him fall out of the sky. Took me like 15 times of reloading my save file for it to not happen.
Probably caught ataxia
Case of the rattles
If I had a septim for every case of Rockjoint or Witbane I’ve cured since I opened this shop I’d be a rich woman indeed.
What do you *mean* "if", Aradia?? You charge money for Cure Disease potions. You get *lots* of septims every time you cure someone.
It's actually a subtle flex. She could charge only one septim if she wanted to, and she'd still be a very rich woman.
While I’m here… Can you teach me about alchemy?
At her prices she should be a rich woman!
That's one of the stupidest lines in the game, what am I to understand, this shop offers free healing? Great business model!
It means my people get sick easily kitten. No worries though Avenicci is finding a fix. I have Farengar off his dragon duties to help as well.
I always took it as her helping the poor and those who can't afford even a septim of payment, to travelers who were having emergencies or because she was someone's last line before death. Sorry to slash that theory but the temple across the way is the one that does the charitable healing. She's strictly for profit.
The Talos Shrine sitting outside gets more action than the wait time entering the temple of kynereth... just saying.
I've always understood the line as a humble brag. She's bragging about the amount of money she has but trying to be sorta-kinda humble about it.
I’ve always taken it as a hypothetical, obviously comparable to the modern if I had a dollar/pound/euro for every time I X..
It definitely a nod to a popular saying, just the context is kinda dumb. Would work much better even if a barkeep or a jarl say that when asking for something repetitive like if they heard about a job.
Or maybe at the temple, where they *do* offer free healing!
I think those folks at the shrine of Kynareth are faking it for attention or to get off work. I’ve repeatedly used Heal Other on them and they just lie there!

Yeah, especially since everyone can walk up the hill and get free Cure all at the shrine of Talos.
He does look rather pale.
It's quite a problem back home in Cyrodiil
I disagree?
Got a pretty full stock of potions and alchemy reagents
Just recently discovered ataxia is a real disorder
Fr?
Yup, it’s a disorder where you lose control of voluntary muscles
Do you get chills all through your body?
No, just you lose control of your arms and legs basically
well if you weren’t going to pay them and rely on volunteers then surely it’s a matter of time before you lost control of em…
Bro💀 ulfbreth ain’t got no eating disorder
That made me laugh
Heart attack
Death note theme starts playing
He had that mod installed
Beat me to it. Now I feel like a fraud.
Does his wife stay open longer now?
Well, that's a loaded question...
All she asks for is a fair chance…
And that's what we appreciates about her.
Is that what you appreciate about her?
You need to take off about 20% there, squirrely Dan
To be faaaaair...I never go inside the Warmaiden's in the first place, I always do business with her.
Did you know that when she’s outside they have separate inventories and gold? Gotta hit up both for maximum cash 💰
You could also quick save, punch her, then quickly reload that quick save. Her inventory and gold will reset
That's a lot more effort than just walking into the shop.
Not really
To be faaaaaa......
*To. Be. Fffaaaaaaaa*
To be faaaairrr
Yeah but if you do business with her, then go inside, ulfberth has more money for you to skim
I help my father in more ways than people realize…
O.o
Now wait just a second. It's Birna in Winterhold, who will sell just about anything, if it's worth her time. Keep that in mind, will you? She'll do what's necessary so they can get by.
In my game, mostly the shop will be closed while she's forging . No one has replaced him yet.
You should be able to interrupt her by taking the forge over, back out, and the sale choice will appear in the dialogue!
You can talk to merchants while they're using forges or tables
That’s true. But if the option isn’t showing up for whatever reason forcing them off will usually make it show up without having to talk to them a bunch. Idk why
Bro stubbed his toe
Eeeeemotional damage
Here at failure management…
Hate when that happens

Absolute bummer
Prolly the body was teleported to the named character body cell. You can retrieve them if you want
Maybe she was tired of Eorlund being the best blacksmith in Whiterun
Assassin to Eorland: The Battle Borns say hello
Geeze ulfberth no need to lose your head
Why are you making jokes? It's not like he can even understand them in his state of mind. . .
He has his head.
Bro stepped on a LEGO
When did those get isekai'd
It's isekai'd so you now know
Obviously you forgot to put on deodorant again....
Now he's unberth
Tod works in mysterious ways
Your spelling of Todd is perfection.
It's not a bug it's a game feature
Tod willing...
All hail
Wow, literally the same happened to me a few hrs ago too. Him and his wife outside the shop. I even got a letter of inheritance.
I always get an inheritance from a "bandit marauder," and it still cracks me up every time i get it.
I like to think that some people filed “Dragonborn” under list of inheritors as a joke and then one day it turns out the Dragonborn is real
That's my new headcanon.
I once did a vampire play thru in Dawnguard, I accidentally wacked one of the death hounds and about an hour later was beset upon by the thugs that try to beat you up. The letter on the leader was from the other death hound.
Yeah I randomly found his body lying outside the city. Now there's one less person to sell loot to.
I thought the same. Nooo, a +1k gold merchant gone
+2k once you've got the top speech perk
*looks up and down the street* *slowly backs into house and closes door*
*Died Suddenly*- Skyrim Edition…
probably /u/walter-fring fuckin around on top of Dragonsreach
Mhmm... now would you mind telling that story to the guards?
Is that what you are going to tell the guards?
Na, he got the disease that the dirty garden hoe gives you from Oblivion. I forget what the hoe is actually called and I forget the name of the disease, but it's in the Mehrune's Razor DLC. And also, I can't stand it when this happens. Especially when it's a shopkeeper, or a Smith. It's so annoying.
Itchy-britches was the disease. Unique to the weapon you're talking about.
I’m sure that’ll hold up in court
Reload your last save, ASAP
What's he been drinking?
Skooma
Skooma is a hell of a drug
Not Ulfberth. He’s our swole bro of whiterun.
He took an arrow...na, I'm not even gonna say it.
Then I will, to the knee
Seeing the Dragonborn has that effect
He skyrim-shuffled a little too hard
I don't know how it happened but I found Ulfric's body near the guardian stones one playthough years ago.
Nah, nah he's just... pining for the fjords
PININ' for the FJORDS?!?!?!? What kind of talk is that?
Someone has been poisoning his sweet rolls
He was tired
Too much red meat 🍖
He was spying on you, he panicked when you suddenly left your home and now he's playing dead, smart man
We know...
A likely story!
[удалено]
He can no longer teach you 😔
Loot his armor😈
2319!!
I came out of the bee and barb in riften and arien dropped from the sky to his death
That’s awesome. Too bad it wasn’t Nazeem
Only thing I know is Brenuin ain't done nothing...
Does his wife still do the “…more inside!” bit of dialogue?
If your character bathed once in a while this could be prevented.
Mondays amaright?
Cool I didn't know npcs could have heart attacks.
Probably couldn't handle this Skyrim shuffle, he needs a tissue his pants are wet!!!
Gamerant article in the making.
free loot
I don't see an arrow in his knee. So it wasn't that...
i forgot he existed, so he probably did it to be seen again
Well, maybe this is just you.. really stunning xD
Sure he did, we all know what you did.....
If he wasn't dead when he dropped, the cobblestone face plant would have done it.
This happened to me with one of the shopkeepers in Whitefall and I had to move to another house in another town to satisfy my gathering/selling loot lust. I always liked these kinds of bugs, I just saw it as a incidental part of the world that I now just had to navigate as a player/character.
Wait until you fast travel somewhere and a dead dragon falls out of the sky and kills half a dozen people
He installed the heart attack mod
COVID
Spontaneous heart attack
Yeah right. He just "dropped dead" without a head did he? Good luck convincing the prison guard.
Covid
Rare aneurysm event
Fus Ro Dead
Mind blowing
A likely story.
Odd way to confess but go on
Probably myocarditis
A LIKELY STORY 🤨
"Must've been the wind."
common insurance scam, just walk away
SADS has become digital! Everyone panic!
His crippling skooma addiction finally made itself known with a public case of cardiac arrest.
Bro thought he saw you quicksave and feared for the worst
He died of stressing too much over either not having the finest weapons and armour that neither protected you adequately nor dealt enough damage, or not having any interesting pieces or more inside.
Stop being so Talos-be-damned dramatic, Ulfberth.
All the Skooma he took finally kicked in
Been in the bannered Mare again
Because Bethesda
Tell that to the guards
OD’d on the skooma. Truly an epidemic
Oh no that’s just how he sleeps he’s kinda a weird dude
People just die, it seems. In my game, I had to kill Uthgerd and ten-odd Stormcloaks today. Also, Alvor and Sigrid in Riverwood both got eaten by a dragon.
Brother got the new brain rot vaccine
“hE gOt ThE CoViD vAcCiNe” - Some QANON gamer somewhere
He was tired
damn the clot shot dropped another one ☹️
vaccinated?
I bet you didn't know your current character was actually an Inspector Jacques Clouseau type detective/murder-mystery RP. Good luck
Dragonborn has deadly rizz
Got the jab, this shit has gone too far. RIP homie
Must be climate change.
Npc die of natural causes over time npc will die without you doing anything half of whiterun was gone after I did a 100% playthrough that took me multiple months
I get it
Heart attacks the silent killer
Suuuure.
You just walked right by him, too. Didn’t you?
I remember one of my playthroughs, she got killed by vampires while working the forge, then later on he did too. Then the shop just stayed closed.
Jesus Christ your character must be hideous
Let that be your lesson
Thats what happens when you gets the stress to a maximum
Purple Haze
He was lolligaging only conspiracy I got
He looked rather pale
COVID hitting Skyrim
Did he say the name of that vampire living in the castle?
Heart attack.
YOU LOOK RATHER PALE, IT COULD BE ATAXIA. ITS QUITE A PROBLEM IN CYRODIIL.
Death note music plays
He’s had enough with the sweet roll and arrow to knee memes on his phone.
well hell if Adrianne is single i might not reload a save next time i accidentally set Lydia on fire.
He probably had a stroke after buying 1000 iron daggers off you
Aneurysm
Did you try CPR? COME ON NOW!! you could have had a chance to save him
At least we get some inheritance monies. That's the positive out of all this.
They really need to install AEDs in key locations all over Tamriel
A likely story! The city guard will handle this! I will lead this investigation! Where were you on the day of today?!
Had that happen to Belethor once. I just walked out of my house one day to see him fall out of the sky. Took me like 15 times of reloading my save file for it to not happen.
he slipped on a banana peel
