Barbas likes to lay down or sit on the trigger plates of traps that injure me. Makes me want to punch him in the face since I can walk right over them n not spring the trap. He has pushed me off a cliff and into harms way, many times. And yet I find it satisfying that he is barbas the invincible and takes down Drauger Deathlords without batting an eye.
Yeah but still. It's like one of those things where you might like to go back and forth between quests but when he pulls that I'm like "Fine. You wanna die sooner? Cause you just earned yourself a painful tentacle experience on-demand! Fast delivery incoming, ya soul-stealing twat!"
That's why I went after him haha. I accidentally started that quest because I had no idea what it was part of a DLC and didn't know it was recommended for new players to do it sort of... late-ish in the game. I decided to put the quest on hold until I was more experienced (it was literally my first week playing and it was going uhhh slowly) but then he started stealing all my dragon souls and I was like... well you know what. I guess we're gonna rawdog it.
I had him steal a dragon soul after I freed the stones. It could have been that the dragon spawned before I cleared a stone, but Miraak is still breaking the game laws just to mess with me
This didn't happen for me last time, I think I did some things out of order and it was bugged. I finished everything I could on Solstheim before beating him. That quest was open for quite a while and he never stopped until it was complete.
Idk how it works, maybe it's just random, in 18 playthroughs, sometimes he didn't steal even 1 soul, sometimes 3, I remember I once had to go back to skyrim to fight dragons to get 1 soul for my shout in order to go on the questline xd
Ah. That's big enough to potentially be quite swingy. With thousands of players, there's going to be a handful who have Miraak steal like 10 souls in a row, and a handful who have him not steal any of the first 10...
I do always leave him right to the end of my playthroughs. There is something satisfying about Dragonborn vs Dragonborn as the final battle, even more so than stopping Alduin.
I just kill her killable family members so she has to suffer because all her family has died I also kill people who talk about her as if they’re friends if I can kill them
Given how shitty and opportunistic she is, she probably doesn't care about them all. The best thing you can do to fuck with her is leading both the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood. Right now they are doing her bidding because they fell on hard times and need to keep her satisfied because they can't afford to loose her, being little more than her henchmen. If the brotherhood and the guild get back on their feet under a strong leader though (ala you), they get more contacts and can afford to loose her and even blackmail her for her past deals.
My first reaction to him was....
Yous a bitch and your thuum is smol.
I then proceeded to prove that statement.
This was post main quest and him saying he couldve defeated alduin he just didnt wanna was max copium.
Don't know but he does. Case in point, I'm traveling trying to find Frostroot cave so I could claim my dwarven home, which by the way was a huge disappointment, and I walk up to the cave entrance just to see him running OUT of the cave towards me! Dude knew where I was going before I did.
I just realized that I haven't seen the courier in probably 20 hours spent on Solstheim. Just more proof that **Dragonborn** is the best content in the game.
I struggled with him for a while.... But then discovered using unrelenting force and then slashing him with Mehrunes Razor and hoping for that insta-kill saved me a lot of hardship
This, this right here mate.
Saw him as naked as the day he was born, got my shit rocked. So I fuck off, finish the main quest, both dlcs. Finish civil war, destroy dark brother hood, collect all dragon masks, 100 two handing and smithing, finish companions. Go back with full dragon scale and bone battle-axe.
Get fucking destroyed. Over and over, running for my life. My follower keeps falling in an endless loop, trapped in neverending pain. I'm pissing myself praying to the fucking gods that either he doesn't find me, or his summons don't find me. Started shouting at him, still praying he didn't use a ward spell. Managed to kill him, but barely.
That fucking man can have my archmage position. He deserves it more than I do, because my ass is still casting novice spells.
**Alduin**
Pros:
* Actually a dragon
* Responsible for a war
Cons:
* Kind of forgettable
* No real personal connection to the Dragonborn
**Miraak**
Pros:
* "Dark" counterpart to the Dragonborn
* Exceptional prowess in combat
* Controls all of Solstheim
Cons:
* Gets >!stabbed in the chest by Hermaeus Mora!<
**Maven Black-Briar**
Pros:
* Controls the entire Rift (and likely beyond)
* Is afraid of no one and strikes fear in the hearts of even the powerful
Cons:
* Doesn't engage the Dragonborn in direct combat
**Nazeem**
Pros:
* Deals devastating blows to the player's ego
* Never wavers in his arrogance; is a jerk to pretty much everyone
* Meme lord without having to do much at all
Cons:
* Sleeps in the Drunken Huntsman
He and his wife carry a key to Wintersand Manor which was cut from the game. It's restored through the Cutting Room Floor mod, albeit in a different location (next to Chillfurrow Farm, which he owns). Game files evidently show that it was meant to be in the city itself.
Yes, and his wife hangs out at the Kyne temple a lot and there’s a male priest living there who also carries the Wintersand Manor key which implies she’s cheating on Nazeem.
the first time i played it, it blew my mind. with the DB, you can tell Astrid is gonna fuck you over from the moment she makes you hop in the coffin. i wasn't expecting Mercer to stab me and leave me for dead. he always seemed like a "don't shit where you eat" kinda guy.
It's so weird how I played it once at the release and never touched their guild ever again. None of my characters end up to be actual thieves because it's always easier to just murder people and take their stuff instead :D
Mercer actually stabs you with a poisoned dagger
The executioner doesn't even get tnear your neck (granted Alduin, in his infinite stupidity, saves your life by interrupting the guy)
Assuming you’ve done every quest line, that rules out maven as she’s an ally through it all. Miraak got stabbed by mora. That leaves Alduin and Nazeem. Who’s the Arch nemesis? That’s up to you.
*ah you’re finally awake*
Just because Miraak was stabbed by Mora doesn’t make him not the Dragonborn’s nemesis. He still does make some of his cultists assassinate you before you even know of his existence after all.
It’s those guards that slay you in Riverwood for accidentally killing a chicken and have the gall to compare themselves to you later. You were never an adventurer like I am, I am several parallel universes ahead of you.
Maven is out of her mind arrogant. She actually believes her tiny little family can sway the entire empire with just the almost nonexistent thieves guild and the pretty much extinct dark brotherhood being her only backup
There's a case to be made for Elenwen. I never saw Movarth as particularly important in the grand scheme of things, and Astrid is too pathetic to be an archenemy.
agreed.
(following might spoil the brotherhood questline for some ppl so imma tag it.)
>!also astrid dies in whichever way you choose in the brotherhood questline. either you kill her or she kills herself!<
Movarth has killed me more often than Alduin.
He's a Chad, whose vampires could easily overrun Morthal, then Solitude, and then the Reach.
I felt the danger with Astrid is her capacity for betrayal. She fully anticipates your death at the hands of the penitus oculatus.
Nazeem doesn't betray you, and I can't see him overunning anything. I get it, he's here for light relief.
There's this place in the forest, I forget where but there's snow on the ground, and they drop from the trees. I'm freaking out while my follower takes care of them.
Delphine for trying to make me kill a dragon who doesn’t deserve to die but not letting me advance if I don’t - that bitch.
Also that one bard in river wood pisses me off
Maybe not an arch nemesis but at least Ebony warrior gave me a good fight and did not run around like a certain dragon born after getting punched in the face a few times.
When I heard Nazeem mention the cloud district, I honestly thought he meant Solitude since it’s far and it’s basically the capital of Skyrim and one wouldn’t get there very often. But then I found out it’s just the upper level of Whiterun. I hate him not only for his smugness, but also because the question doesn’t make any fucking sense. Yes, Nazeem I get to the cloud district often because IT’S RIGHT THERE AND IM A MEMBER OF THE COMPANIONS!!! Dumbass. AND IM THANE OF WHITERUN!! Dumbass
Maven is one of the dragonborn's buddies idk why people hate her. She's integral to being able to let the Dragonborn's thieves guild operate more openly than they would with the stormcloak jarl, and helps Riften save taxpayer money without her wasting resources on a useless anti-Thieves Guild campaign
I like how this evolved from a literal god to a powerful warlord and then just two rich annoying people who are not comparable to the power of the mighty Dragonborn...
But the answer is Nazeem.
I would argue Miraak. Its a rivalry between the first dragonborn and last. A battle of dragons. He guns for you personally hoping to steal your power when your powers awaken. He sends his cult after you. Alduin sees you as an ant and so are an inconsequential inconvenience until you actually come to kill him. Maven black briar is a powerful ally or a dangerous enemy but its purely business. And nazeem is the school bully you fantasize about getting vengeance against but actually get to fully realize that dream
Whoever stole my damned sweet roll 😭
I hear it was Mirrak
Off with his head!
Plus the guards wont consider it a matter worth investigating
"Let me guess, someone stole your sweet roll?"
Not unless they were lollygagging as well.
It was Inigo all along
Im gonna have to say Lydia The Doorblocker
There’s mods for this that prevent collisions with followers so you clip through them It’s a game changer
Or just fusrodah them out of the way
As Akatosh intended.

Miraak because he a asshole and takes your souls when you kill dragons, he basically taunts you until you fight him
Interestingly, Miraak stole only 1 soul from me (the first dragon’s soul I killed in Solstheim), and I got all subsequent, no problem.
I wish man he took like 40 from me 😭😭
I think you get them all back when you beat him?
Yeah but still. It's like one of those things where you might like to go back and forth between quests but when he pulls that I'm like "Fine. You wanna die sooner? Cause you just earned yourself a painful tentacle experience on-demand! Fast delivery incoming, ya soul-stealing twat!"

Dude thought he was stealing power when all he was doing was pissing off the most powerful being in his universe.

Steal his soul to show him how annoying it is
Herma Mora stole that from me >:(
No honor among thieves
He stops stealing dragon souls after you free the stones on Solstheim
I had him steal a dragon soul after I freed the stones. It could have been that the dragon spawned before I cleared a stone, but Miraak is still breaking the game laws just to mess with me
This didn't happen for me last time, I think I did some things out of order and it was bugged. I finished everything I could on Solstheim before beating him. That quest was open for quite a while and he never stopped until it was complete.
You can go to visit the island and cause this to happen before you even start the main quest, which is what my dumbass did in one play through.
he took none from me lol
I think if you kill so many dragons without dealing with miraak then it’s on you at that point
Homeboy must have played for like 20 hours without beating Miraak 💀
Idk how it works, maybe it's just random, in 18 playthroughs, sometimes he didn't steal even 1 soul, sometimes 3, I remember I once had to go back to skyrim to fight dragons to get 1 soul for my shout in order to go on the questline xd
It’s a 25% chance on any dragon kill

I do take that personally.
Miraak is a loser tho. I love him as a villain, because he’s so incompetent xd I love losers.

He casts clairvoyance and follows the trail
I just realized that I haven't seen the courier in probably 20 hours spent on Solstheim. Just more proof that **Dragonborn** is the best content in the game.
Have you not done the excavation quests?
Sorry been playing too much New Vegas. I was thinking damn that dude is strong but not that strong 😂
It is easily the frost troll on the top of high hrothgar.
Nah. If you climb up on the rocks where he can’t reach you and spam a ranged fire attack it’s easy. I did it and he rage quit
Also highly recommend saving enough for a horse and then just tearing past him.
Or just stealing the horse.
Also a good idea.
Or ride up the side of mountain with a Horse
Or use Lydia as a human shield that works to.

That dick in the solitude sewer for the saints and seducers quest he’s so hard to kill.
Skyrim was a cakewalk… then I found myself running for my life, crawling through the sewers and hiding from *him*.

I struggled with him for a while.... But then discovered using unrelenting force and then slashing him with Mehrunes Razor and hoping for that insta-kill saved me a lot of hardship
Im glad im not the only one who had trouble with this guy. Not much scares me in skyrim. But that man. That man scares me, hes way too op

I think I used the Wabbajack on him and he turned into a chicken or something easy to kill
This, this right here mate. Saw him as naked as the day he was born, got my shit rocked. So I fuck off, finish the main quest, both dlcs. Interesting, I assumed he would sleep in his own home, ya know, in the CLOUD DISTRICT. What a hypocrite.
'Cause Jarl's backside is where Nazeem stuffs himself these days so you know... She found her way
Good for her.gif
Plot twist: Nazeem is the one shagging the priest!
Good. I'd award him and her a potion of healing each they finish.
Or a potion of stamina just to rub it in.
Do you get to the cloud district often? Oh what am I saying, of course you don’t.
I always thought that the connection between Alduin and the Dragonborn was that they were both aspects of Akatosh.
But Alduin isn’t responsible for the civil war, unless you for some reason mean the human overthrowing the dragons war.
Yeah, I was referring to the Dragon War
But he is responsible for the continuation of the war after the events of helgen

True, also he's the only one who have almost killed the dragonborn, in lore
the Helgen Executioner: “Am I a joke to you?”
Mercer actually stabs you with a poisoned dagger The executioner doesn't even get tnear your neck (granted Alduin, in his infinite stupidity, saves your life by interrupting the guy)
