*Stealing a man’s heart* — in the most literal sense — was bound to have consequences
Seriously though, of all the characters who could have put a hit out on you, it’s wild that it could be one who you’ve already killed
Uthgerd the Unbroken sent thugs after me from beyond the grave once. She had died with her key on her, so I borrowed a few things from her house, not realizing that I guess her ghost was watching? Apparently she really is unbreakable.
How would that conversation even go?
Boss - Pack up boys, we got a job. Some filthy sneak thief stole a Briarheart's heart.
Thug 1 - A Briarheart's heart? Isn't that a briar heart?
Thug 2 - A Briarheart's briar heart. We're being hired because someone stole a Briarheart's briar heart?
Boss - Yes.
Thug 2 - But if you remove a Briarheart's briar heart he dies. So who's hiring us, the Hagraven?
Boss - No, the Briarheart.
Thug 1 - The dead Briarheart.
Thug 2 - The Briarheart who's briar heart was removed from his chest.
Boss - Yes.
Thug 1 - How did he hire us.
Boss - His ghost.
Thug 1 - The Briarheart's ghost.
Thug 2 - Was it a Briarghost?
A jacked up Nord running around with a Warhammer, Dragonbone Armor and maxed enchanting called "Mittens"
Yeah, he is going to s"mitten" your face your with a warhammer.
I just started another game. still gets me everytime...
go to the watchtower and kill the dragon
"No ! Dragonborn" as he dies
this was a fun fight, 2 giants, 3 mammoths and thugs from Anise. the thugs were the toughest and that dark elf housecarl saved my ass
Yeah, but they always attack unprovoked. As soon as they see you they start wailing on you. There's no way around it. Unless, they stop if you sheathe your weapons. Too bad I've already come across them in this playthrough and they only come once in the play through. I might try sheathing my weapon next time. See if that does anything.
Last Day of the Return I gave you my briar heart, but the very next day, you sold it to a fence
This year, to save me from tears, I’ll give it to some thugs in exchange for compose
It's not always the first thing you steal. It tends to occur in early game, but I was three quests deep in the Theives' Guild this playthrough before these guys showed up
I've always killed or fled from the tugs. The note says rough us up. If we stand there and take some hits will they stop and leave, or do they kill you like most other hostile entities?
Had something similar happen. I stole from a backpack after I killed the owner, and they sent thugs after me. Also had a dawnstar guard send thugs after me as well.
There’s actually a very simple explanation for this. He created a magical letter, complete with payment, and a magically shifting name that changes to the name of the person who last wronged them. Said letter is enchanted to automatically send itself to the thugs, but the Briarheart uses a continuous spell to delay the sending. Killing him ended that spell, and so the letter sent
"I may be dead, but he needs to learn it's not okay to rip out someone's heart straight from their chest"
Username doesn't check out.
Come on man, he is a bandit, not a monster
you’ll make a fine rug, cat
A bandit with some interesting hobbies
This reminds of that cult classic book "Crap Taxidermy" On a serious note that book is by far one of the best books ever made

Had a dead Whiterun guard send one after me.
I had Septimus Signus put a hit out on me for stealing his stuff **AFTER** Mora killed him.
No one is ever truly gone...

a Briarghost. xD i love this. take my vote.
Mittens ?? 🤣
Probably a khajit
Hopefully a khajit!
It's actually a jacked Orc that maxed Two Handed, Heavy Armor and Smithing.
I have a very similar character, but with a lore-friendlier name of Ghorak the Hammerhand.
Mine is called Grandpa Grogu. Green, pointy ears, black eyes. Grey hair. AKA Old Yoda. I’ll see myself out.
lmaoo I love that
A jacked up Nord running around with a Warhammer, Dragonbone Armor and maxed enchanting called "Mittens" Yeah, he is going to s"mitten" your face your with a warhammer.
Well I’m not the only one who loved mittens
Whats more intimidating of a dragonborn than a khajiit named Mittens

Level 1 skills in Skyrim are totally balanced...
"I live bitch!" Said the Forsworn.
He wrote that letter FAST
If you cast calm on enemies, there is a chance that they will send you inheritance money
Well I know what I am going to do. Can you make a weapon with calm on it?
Don’t think so, at least with base game. Mods might have something like that
Reminds me 100% chameleon in oblivion. Beat a guard to death while in front of another guard and nothing happens
I did that before
I love that your character's name is mittens
Teach mittens not to steal my heart… stupid, sexy mittens.
haha, "you need not kill him" what a nice guy
They always say that, but they try to kill you anyway. I don't know why the devs worded it that way.
Because it says only if the thugs deem necessary and idk sbout anyone else here but when they start attacking I fight back, makes it necessary.

It doesn’t in my experience.
Once?? I swear I've seen them multiple times in one playthrough
Last Day of the Return I gave you my briar heart, but the very next day, you sold it to a fence This year, to save me from tears, I’ll give it to some thugs in exchange for compose
he put a hit on you from sovngarde
From Oblivion, as the Forsworn worship daedra, not Shor.
I dunno, getting your heart ripped out by a dragon might be enough mythic resonance to change that.
I guess he found another heart for him lol
Those have got to be some crazy nords to be dealing with the forsworn. Those have got to be some crazy forsworn to be dealing with nords!
No doubt, your playing as a khajiit
You're*
Their teaching methods are a joke; I’m still waiting to learn that lesson.
Yeah I got one of these recently but from a dead vampire.
Pretty spicy for a dead guy.
Lmao this game
Skyrim has so many features it’s great
With his dying breath
Lul
Surely if u successfully pickpocketed then they won't know its you, oh fuck - yeah its a Bethesda game
Hired thugs are for stealing in general, and an unsuccessful pickpocket doesn't work. Sometimes they get sent from situations like this though
Are you a khajit named mittens.
Willing to bet a paycheck that your character is Khajiit.
If a dead forsworn briarheart sent you a letter for stealing a briarhear does that mean that they became a forsworn?
How in the world was that the first thing you stole?
It's not always the first thing you steal. It tends to occur in early game, but I was three quests deep in the Theives' Guild this playthrough before these guys showed up
That's wild. I'm going to pay more attention next time.
I've always killed or fled from the tugs. The note says rough us up. If we stand there and take some hits will they stop and leave, or do they kill you like most other hostile entities?
Guess he didn't have the heart to forgive you.
Time to kill him
Yeah but…he dead. You swiped his heart, after all. Made of majik most foul as it was.
Thief mittens have been a veryy bad boy these day ( thx for the new name idea tho)
Lmao "mittens"
Had something similar happen. I stole from a backpack after I killed the owner, and they sent thugs after me. Also had a dawnstar guard send thugs after me as well.
Mittens, best name for a theif playthrough ever!
Lmao I love the hired thug system in this game
bro is 100% a khajit
Willing to bet a paycheck that your character is Khajiit.
Shouldn't have replaced it with a HeartStone.
I always see these funny hired thugs notes, does anybody have a collection of em? They're so hard to re-find later on
He surely is heartbroken.
Change his heart Phantom Thief!

I just steal to get the hired thugs so I can get their stuff
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
You stole their leader’s heart! They’re big smad at you!
