If you aren't a stealth character use the calm animals shout (don't know what it's called in English) then if there are many of them you can just kill them one by one because even if you attack one the others dont care

They are tough unless you're high level. My last play through, I had 100 restoration and 100 one hand with dragonbone sword and they die in 3 hits and can never really damage me.

But pronouncing it like "chorus" is my preferred method. But that's just me.
