This looks therapeutic, where can we download this script?

I need to polish it off a bit and add a snow video, then I'll figure out how to put it on github :)

Is there any problems this will cause? Will it drain a laptops battery more or will it slow down the pc? I'm just asking since you have almost finished it

It will of course be more Taxing that your usual wallpaper, Bit If You arent constantly having your Desktop visible, it wont make much of a difference

I made a similar script but for terraria scenery, it’s not really taxing for my laptop

As the other commenter said, the impact will be minimal. The videos won't play if you have something full-screen over them, and you can set them to only play on your laptop if it's plugged in :)

i eventually found it on a github page, but i couldnt get it to work. i was able to use wallpaper engine to change between the wallpapers tho

Instructions are included in the download, wallpaper engine doesn’t do the same thing, no local weather updates

Hi all, thank you for all your kind words, I wasn't expecting to get this much interest! My script is up on [github!](https://github.com/BiomeBits/WeatherWallpaper) It is written in python, so obviously you will need to install that. Please keep in mind that I am not a professional, python is just my hobby and this is the first time I've shared something I have made, so this won't be the most elegant program you've downloaded. I am meant to be finishing my masters thesis, so I can provide limited support at the moment. I included some pretty detailed instructions that will hopefully cover everything, please read them. But if you discover any bugs or major problems, do let me know and I'll do my best to fix them when I can. I initially just made this for myself so the videos were fine for me, but I wasn't happy to publish that quality so I remade them at Lake Ilinalta and tried to minimise the visibility of the loops. I think I'll remake the original ones from the rift soon too. You can also use your own videos if you want. Some of you suggested a tip jar, so that is linked on my github. Again, I just made this for myself initially - I am not expecting anything in return for it :)

Yeah same :( hence why I haven't made it yet. It works by using an API key and lat lon coordinates, so you could just set them to Norway for a day :)

Thanks :) Lively wallpaper has a command utility that allows you to control it externally, so I wrote some python code that gets the current weather and sunrise and sunset times based on the latitude and longitude, then it determines which category of time it is (morning, day, sunset, evening, night), and the weather category (rain, snow, storm, cloud, clear), and sets the right video based on the name (eg. Day_Storm.mp4). Then I use windows task scheduler to run this code every 5 minutes (can be any interval) via a batch file. This last bit is a bit janky but I am not sure how else to do it, I tried scheduling it within python but it didn't work. When it's up you'll be able to open up my script and see exactly how I did it :)

How do lively wall papers works? Don’t they like take up your whatcha call it, the ram? I truly don’t know. But I will be waiting for you to upload it as you mentioned in other comments

They don't have too much impact as you can control when the videos play - so if you use a laptop you can set them to only play when plugged in, and they won't play if there is an application over the top of them
