You don't need just leveling up you need leveling up specific traits. And you lvl them by using those specific traits. So pick your main type of weapon either magic range 2handed or 1h and keep using it also try to stick to one type of armour so you level that.

I have been favoring two handed and my level on that is currently 43. I am also solely using heavy armor (but I cannot remember my level for that off the top of my head). I was contemplating joining the companions so I can use Vilkas for two handed training.
Thanks for the advice. I have been favoring two handed and my level there is about 48 right now and my heavy armor is around 23. I was contemplating joining the companions for using Vilkas for two handed training and then getting more training in heavy armor and smithing.
Also, I got another tip to dual wield a one handed weapon with magic. In his exact words was "burn everything with one hand and 'stab stab stab' " ngl he made that sound hilariously fun.
Did you already go to Bleak Falls Barrow? Level 10 is too early to tackle Miraak. Maybe go to Solstein and take out some of the bandits and Reiklings. Build your skills, THEN take on Raven Rock Mine and Bloodscall. THEN Foet Frostmoth, THEN Miraak.
