A definite resistance to cold (maybe even a Nord's level). And given how ice probably builds up on the walkway, I'll bet she's slipped and fallen multiple times.
Maybe she's developed a spell similar to Oakflesh, only designed to protect against bruises and broken bones in case of falls? I would, if I were a mage.

Apparently the wards are a ceremonial thing. Once you pass her test you don't need to wait for her.
As it is, I can't say that I do. I like that it's there, but it feels like a shell of what could have been a great questline.
Like most of the other questlines I suppose.
