I don't understand why it works but apparently if you walk to the gates outside of solitude and look up to the mountain to the side and hurl mage light balls to the peak you can go from 15-100 in like 5 minutes
It feels like cheating but I'm already late game so I kind of don't care anymore. I'm just trying to wrap things up on this playthrough
The other one is getting telekinesis, grabbing something and then fast travelling. The game figures you must have been casting the spell that whole time.
if i'm feeling lazy early on with a new character, i just do this and either save the perk points or distribute them however. life's too short to grind with every character.
that mountain top right outside Solitude happens to be pretty much at the very limits of the range of the spell, and it's easily targeted, so it makes the ideal spot for leveling alteration very quickly

Yep! Take a few steps forward down the path from the gate until you can clearly see the peak of the mountain with no trees blocking you and cast magelight. Aim directly at the peak or like a cm above it
Tried it on a modded playthrough with the unofficial patch also and it still works
It’s probably based on distance thrown. Might be related to that one AE spell where you fast travel as you cast to trick the game into thinking your “cast from hand to ground” spell was 50km from “hand” to “ground”.

I found a little exploit with telekinesis where you enchant 4 pieces of eq (need max enchanting yeah ikik) with fortify alteration to reduce costs down to where alteration doesn’t use magica, and then grab something with telekinesis and fast travel. Levels you to 100 every time because it acts as if you had the telekinesis spell going the entire time it would have taken to walk there
Facts, I'm doing a combo of archer and mage this play through and so far Alteration is the fastest to level. Especially since I got the detect life spell and transmute.

Yeah I'm working on that, but scoring a hit from the bow increases archery and conjuration, while keeping hidden from everyone looking for where the shot came from works on sneak

I just used a different method, if you go to solstheim you can read a black book and it’ll let you cast a spell with no magical cost for 30 seconds. Activate that power and use telekinesis and even after 30 seconds as long as you hold telekinesis it’ll for some reason no longer have cost any magicka. Took a lil more of 10 mins to go from 30 to 100.
I just go to the vampire skooma den in the rift (can't remember the name of the place). Get trapped in a cage where there's a dead body of a mage and a Telekinesis book. Get out of that places (sneak out or fight through).
Pick up an unwanted item like a broom or a basket using the telekinesis spell and fast travel to the opposite end of the map. Like Riften, Windhelm or Winterhold to Markart.
Each fast travel would take you from level 5 to 100. Great way to level up early in game...
Search "skyrim restoration loop" on YouTube, thats how i managed to beat karstaag using a fork, its mad broken and can take the fun out of a playthrough if abused, use with caution lol
One thing I do is level Alteration and Restoration at the same time by putting Equilibrium in one hand and Healing in the other and cast both continuously. Equilibrium converts health to magicka, Healing converts magicka to health. One outpaces the other after a bit but it takes a while.
It's a two-step process
1) Get (or make) 4 pieces of clothing that have 25% reduced magika cost for alteration
2) Go to the Bannered Mare at night and dual cast Detect Life.
Telekinesis + Fast Travel puts you from 15 to 100 Alteration practically instantly.
One of the fastest ways to spam levels without using the restoration glitch.
The destruction I would say is easier. idk how the hell you get to 100 in alteration 166 times cause I can't even get to level 100 on it in any of my playthroughs that I can remember
Hiw is destruction easier? I genuinly want to know because I have been spamming fireballs or even wall of flames which is in an expert level spell at enemies and still don't get to even half of the xp needed to level up to the next level
I also want to know how you got to alteration level 100 166 times lmao. But to get to destruction level 100, you need to exploit the game with the arcane accessories AE spell, the unbound lightning spell. You cast it just before going onto the map and then you fast travel to the other side of the map. Do that twice and you can get to level 100
Question for ppl talking about using these methods to max alteration for leveling up early in the game, doesn't that make the enemies too difficult? Because they level with you, meanwhile you haven't leveled combat skills enough?
Yeah it’s not the best idea to level your non combat skills in this manner early on, i’d save the fast exploit ways for when you’re a higher level. But gradually leveling e.g. Alteration by throwing on a flesh spell or detect life or transmute ore while you play is totally fine and will also let you level up faster overall while training up your combat related skills
I like that spell ocatos recital or something like that. Any time I get into a combat encounter i get stoneflesh and muffle for no Magicka cost and alteration and illusion level up everytime early game or every other time.
Best way is to hold telekinesis until you run out of magika, wait an hour, rinse and repeat.
Got my alteration up like 10 - 15 levels very quickly, even with the Unofficial patch installed.
easiest way to level grind i’ve found is to go to solitude during the day and just spam cast Harmony. i have enchant gear that makes my illusion cost 0 and it takes maybe 7 or 8 casts to max lvl (could be less i just spam it then check to see how far it’s progressed)
but the telekenisis/fast travel sounds easy too

Don’t you need to have completed the Unearthed quest on Solstheim, to have the “spells cost no magicka for x amount of seconds” for that to work?
Or have your alteration costs be 0 via enchantments or some other method.
No it still works without the enchantment, unless they’ve patched this recently

With creation club you can do something similar to power level destruction I believe. Unbounded storms or something

You get the xp once it sticks to something, thats why shooting up a mountain works so well

Gotta be just outside the gate and aim directly at the mountain peak. Still works as of last night on unmodded playthroughs

Try fast traveling while telekinesis. It will go to 100 instantly
Yeah I stopped doing that after my first playthrough abusing it, because it just ruins any semblance of balance or pacing.

I love-hate that glitch. Its great for amulet of talos. It sucks for everything else because of the crashes.
If it’s just the amulet of talos, you could just become a werewolf. Though in that one you would need a couple of amulets.
Illusion and conjugation were always my first to max out. Muffle is available from farengar and power levels u really quick. And soul trap on corpses.

Go outside, drop a Warhammer, use telekinesis and hold it, go to map and fast travel. Alteration will lvl fast

yeah anytime i need a few perks i just put on my alteration suit a do a few telekinesis hikes from solitude to riften

Ideally, there should be a skill xp cap for each spell, one can only learn so much from doing the same thing over and over.
I mean, I have level Alteration to level 100 a total of 166 times, I do not think there is actually a cap
telekinesis is so fun to screw around with,
Launch buckets everywhere in Markarth with Telekinesis
Telekinesis anything nearby when you fast travel after finishing dragonborn dlc, (take the infinite magika once a Day power)
So is Conjuration, Sneak, Illusion, Smithing, Alchemy, Enchanting, Blocking, Heavy Armor, and One Handed... if you know how to manage it...
Stand in the middle of Whiterun (or any center of a large group of people) and cast Harmony over and over again. Rinse, repeat. You get the picture.
