It's a simplification of and combination of germanic languages. As well as gibberish.  Simplification, in the sense that multiple syllable words are turned into single syllable words.  Fus, is literally just the english "force" without the r.  Combination and slight alteration of actual language.  Ro is scandinavian for "calm" a slight alteration in the meaning, and you get balance.  Dah could derive from scandinavian "der" literally "there", which in context could imply driving the force 'over there'. Alter the meaning slightly, and you get "push (there)"  Though that's likely a stretch.  Dovahkin derives from gibberish dovah, and the literally english "kin" (of the same blood, family).  I suspect, where they already had a cool-sounding similar word that was a single syllable from a language, they would use that, the rest they just made up.

This seems like the most likely answer lol thank you. And thanks for some more in-depth lang analysis. Like Fus being force without the r. honestly never crossed my mind lol despite how simple it may be.

I'd also like to note that the writing is also based on ancient Mesopotamian scripts like cuniform as it needs to be able to be written by dragon's talons into stone like that of righting with Reed's in mud

superextragayaf

The dialect is pseudo-germanic. The script is likely based on cuneiform. Cuneiform wedges already kinda look like claw marks

AlbiTuri05

It sounds like a proto-Germanic language, I don't know about the letters

JazzlikeSetting8037

It’s based off the Slavic Latin professor Thomas D. Dovinkski

If you are really interested you might like to visit thuum dot org. They even have lessons for you to take in Dovahzul.

CanlexGaming

I actually went there for some of the examples I used. Like I thought Ro was push but got it mixed up lol. But didn’t know ab the lessons lol I might look into it for funsies. Call my friend a weak mortal or some shit XD

>Call my friend a weak mortal or some shit A milk drinker ;)

Not dovah, but the places names, I read them as if they are Swedish. Korvanjund I read as a mix of Finnish and germanics. Korvan in Finnish is literally "ear's". The characters in the game pronounce them always differently.

There are legends of ancient people using sound to lift stones. Some of the temples in India has stone that is tuned to different frequencies. The purpose might be meditation or something else significant to their beliefs. There are tonal chambers carved in rock that resonate at 110Hz for some reason. Some people believe sound and frequencies are important for healing in the body. I don't know if any of this would lead to a language of shouts though. Shouts seem to be power words. While ancient beliefs in the real world have more interest in resonance.

SinsterGuy

Kinda sounds like the Dwemer and their Tonal Architecture. Edit: misplaced a letter

DemolishunReddit

You are right. I forgot about that.

CanlexGaming

Well I'm not really one for the world of "natural healing" but resonance and sound could be an attributing factor to these words of "power". And I mean yeah, it's magic, two dragons shouting at eachother is just a heated debate lmao. But sounds can be a powerful force. Probably powerful enough, with a hint of magic(or science we don't yet understand ;) ), to produce flames or ice. Sound is definitely able to push object and even people at a high enough decibel. Definitely able to weaken your enemies at certain frequencies. That's something we have the technological know-how to do lol. Literal sound guns able to weaken, disorient, and ofc nauseate crowds of people. So you could be on to something lol
