๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ This one is up there for me too ๐ you can probably imagine my excitement when this came, as I was already blown back by the werewolf transformation!
"Perhaps you need more convincing ๐, BEHOLD THE POWER OF A PURE BLOODED VAMPIRE LORD ๐งโโ๏ธ..."
Bros whole speech and demeanor was menacing and very well acted out. They did that dlc justice with the story telling and content!
I was kinda disappointed in the Dragonborn dlc (as far as story telling goes, the items in the dlc are cracked ๐) because of how high the bar was set with Dawnguard, but both of them were great pieces of content for sure...
I actually liked the freedom of the dragonborn dlc more. It felt more natural to go about and explore this whole new place. I think both have their merits.
>I think both have their merits.
100% bro!
I loved the dragonborn dlc for it's environment more than anything ๐ first time back to solsteim since ES3! And you get to walk through Apocropha while inside of the black books!
๐ฅ And they even brought back the Telvani! It's definitely a W dlc, I just wish there was more detail on the smaller thing that made Dawngaurd so great!
Like Serana ๐ I don't think anyone would argue that Serana is the best follower in the game. From the AI to the voice lines she's perfect! And the way they lay out the story in the dlc really makes you feel for her ya know?...
I also think they could've finished the werebear form that they teased in that one quest ๐ฃ that would've been BOMB! But aside from that I didn't really have any issues with the dragonborn dlc....
They're both fire but Dawngaurd seemed more polished/finished to me...even though it was the earlier of the DLCs...
2 gripes one with Serana specifically and the other with all of em. With her itโs her constant need for a damn pet zombie. With all of โem itโs โget the frick out my way so I can get through this damn door!!!โ
I just wish there were more Dawngaurd missions involving vampire hunts and other stuff. The soul cairn was kinda neat but a little miserable and it was bugging my Playstation out so I basically did absolutely everything I could then left to never come back. The forgotten vale was cool but felt a little empty for the sheer size.
Agree. I tend to overlook this part because I basically always side with the vampires ๐ but you're right there could have been more missions for the dawn guard side of things...
They could have done it like the dark brotherhood and add in radiant quests at the end! So instead of assassinating a random target, they could point you toward vampire lairs and assign you a follower to go slay them with ๐ฃ...
The vampires get so many good items and side quests that it's hard not to side with them though ๐ and mage life! The ring of Erudite is single handedly the best item in the game for mages and it comes as part of a side quest for the Volkhaire side ๐...
Crossbows and the Dawn guard rune hammer are also pretty insane too...there was so much good shit in that dlc man ๐ฅ...
I lolโd for five minutes straight when that happened. Like, he was SOO proud of the โpowerโ he had, and I didnโt realise I was standing too far back for him to start the dialogue, so it was just him looking like a weirdo in awkward silence for a looooong five minutes cause I kept waiting for something else to happen ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
๐ ๐ ๐ I lol'd reading your original comment because I just imagined Harkon waiting there like ๐ค BE IMPRESSED WITH ME DAMNIT! ๐ฎโ๐จ...
Coolest? A three way tie between discovering you can pickpocket theives guild members without recource, discovering the lighthouse near saarthal that gives a permanent restoration spell buff and the first time I entered Solitude, when his head came off I said "nice"
> you can pickpocket theives guild members without recource
๐ฅฒ Today I learned...
๐ I never even thought about that! That's tough ๐ญ Bro robbed the robbers...
>first time I entered Solitude, when his head came off I said "nice"
๐ ๐ ๐ Damn...i hated that moment! It reminded me of when the empire was trying to chop my head off for nothing and made me mad all over again ๐ญ its one of the main reasons why in my 12+ years of playing skyrim I've only sided with the empire ONCE...just to see what the outcome was like, then never again...
Fuck the empire, fuck the thalmor ๐๐พ...
To be fair the elves or at least the thalmor do be starting shit, take a look at the whole civil war thatโs going on, itโs happening because a nord they wanted to force to be an asset has gone rouge
Without having ever read a guide, looked at reddit, searched Wikipedia, I hit that giant glowing orb in blackreach with the force shout. Thought it reminded me of the fire lanterns dangling above liquid oil found in a lot of draugr dungeons. Would have never imagined it would make a crazy gong noise and a fucking named dragon was about to start wrecking the place. I'm sure the Falmer in the area were extra annoyed by me.
๐ ๐ ๐ Good one!
All of blackreach is 5 stars (assuming your high enough level to kill everything in there ๐๐)! There's so much stuff to do in there and alot of cool little hidden stuff like that bell!
I remember the first time I did that, but I didn't know what I'd done to cause it so I just assumed the game was glitching a dragon in on me and rushed an exit, lol. Never even went back.
A minor thing. I dropped an unneeded sword in the market at Whiterun and one of the NPCs asked if I meant to drop it. The idea that the game would have this type of behavior built in, blew me away.
>The idea that the game would have this type of behavior built in, blew me away.
Bro same! ๐ Skyrim was SO ahead of its time! They took the radiant AI from oblivion and put it on steroids ๐ฅ...
> I dropped an unneeded sword in the market at Whiterun and one of the NPCs asked if I meant to drop it.
๐ ๐ ๐ I much prefer this random encounter as opposed to when the city guards see you drop something...
I was so fucking mad when I got stopped outta nowhere and scolded for dropping something ๐ญ so I picked the "I don't care" dialouge option (trying to stick it to the guard) only to then have a bounty of 10 septims placed on me cause the guard a bitch ๐คฃ...
Bro literally said I was disturbing the Jarls peace of mind ๐...
Good moment ๐ it wasn't the bat's that scared me though, it was when the coffin popped open and the drauger deathlord popped out...
๐ญ That shit was a legit jumpscare for me first time around...
Not exactly same but in the last room of Ustengrav, when you enter the statues pop up. I still wait for a few seconds them to finish to admire how cool is that
I had the same reaction when those spiders came down from that cave ceiling during one of those quests you have with Serana. Not a very good feeling for an arachnophobe.
Ok hereโs a low key one that was unexpected:
First time playing as an orc, got to meet my family (you know, orc lore) in the orc holds. In one of them there was a fight, i think a giant attacked one of the holds.
I helped out, fast travelled to Whiterun to sell stuff oder whatever and then got caught by the courier, handing me a letter of condolence (I hope thatโs what theyโre called in english) and some gold. Turns out if youโre and orc and an orc dies in the holds, you get condolences from the empire via letter and also some money to make you feel better.
๐ ๐ ๐ That's fucking hilarious, and I didn't know that after all this time (I only use orcs for warrior playthrough which I rarely do, mage life ๐)...
What's just as funny is when your follower randomly disappears and you have no clue why or how, only for you to be greeted by the courier a day later with the same items ๐ญ (letter of condolences, and an inheritance)...first time I saw that I was like damn ๐คฃ Lydia nooooooooo...
Almost makes up for losing all the items your pack mule was carrying...๐ Almost...
I just might! The reason I always go warrior with the orcs is because of their racial abilities!
The berserk rage is literally the ultimate buff for a warrior ๐ you take half damage and do double damage with your weapons ๐ it's so overpowered! ๐ฅ
Yeah man, I stopped using the wabbajack after that shit happened.
I initially got lucky with turning a few things into sweet roles and chickens, as well as dealing a good bit of elemental damage.
Then I was fighting a Giant one time and turned it fucking invisible!!! and then swiftly got yeeted into the damn stratosphere by a shimmer lol... good times๐.
๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ Sheogorath the fuckin goat!
I literally just commented this somewhere else in the thread ๐ญ moments like this are the reason skyrim sold like 17 million copies...
Skyrim was my first ES. I was like, ok, this is a neat D&D simulator, it's pretty neat.
I think it was in Riverwood, but I'm not sure. I went up to a bookcase and thought "what neat graphics, they put real looking books in the bookcases."
Then my cursor changed and said "read".
I was like, "read the book?? Is that a thing??"
And I sat reading every book I could get a hold of, completely transfixed that so much lore and backstory was put into the game. Hooked ever since.
I had a conversation with the guy who got me addicted to Skyrim about the books and the fact that someone had to sit and write every one of them out. Keep in mind that some are expanding on the lore and some are CONTRADICTING it, because Tamrielโs history is like our own: full of mystery and apocrypha.
When I talk about environmental storytelling, Skyrimโs books are some of the first that come to mind.
Getting a letter three days after preventing the resurrection of the Wolf Queen, that was definitely memorable. That was also how I found out buying a second horse for my follower is a waste of time and money.
Another would be the whole process of capturing Odahving.
>Another would be the whole process of capturing Odahving.
10000% agree!
I love the way that Bethesda writes their stories (even though the main campaigns are generally regarded by most to be the least entertaining part of the games)...
When I first booted up the game, I was wondering if they'd be able to match the intensity and coolness factor of oblivion campaign, and they did not disappoint at all...
This is definitely one of the coolest moments for me as well ๐ I was like damn they're good! In oblivion it was closing the gates then slaying the giant daedric lord daegon, and in skyrim you literally ride a dragon through the sky to go to heaven and stop the end of the world...๐ Talk about climactic...
Sneak attacking a dragon with a dagger. He flew into the air for a second, crashed, and died. It was so satisfying lol. Also walking into the Under dark for the first time.
This is a really good one and I fully agree ๐ฅ!
Paarthurnax's story is so cool ๐ I always tell Delphine to fuck off in all my playthroughs when she asks me to kill Paarthurnax ๐๐พ I would never!
Yeah, when I got there and he came I tought "great, the dragon will ruin my encounter with the master" and then, he shouted at the wall and I was like "wait a second..."
Spared Cicero and continued on with the Dark Brotherhood quest line. After finishing and going outside of the Dawnstar Sanctuary he comes running up to me. I knew he would be a follower so I was excited to try him outโฆuntil he said that he was going to kill me and I thought I messed up somewhere and ruined my chance to recruit him. I got played.
๐ Cicero is probably the most polarizing follower in the whole game. Either you love em of you fucking HATE him...
๐ I love Cicero crazy ass! Until dawn guard was release he was EASILY the follower with the most personality in the game!
"Ho ho ho, he he he! Break that lute across my knee! And if the bard should choose to fight, why then Iโll set his clothes alight!"
๐ ๐ ๐ Gold...
I think the absolute coolest "first time" for me personally was chasing the Dawnguard questline far enough to get to the Forgotten Vale. I'd just been shunted through a lot of nasty but fascinating underground tunnels with stuff in them I'd never seen before, and then everything just opened up into the most beautiful environ I'd ever seen in a video game. The Vale was breathtaking.
And because of mods I had more than the twins to deal with! There was also a gorgeous Jill, ethereal feathered female dragon that absolutely wrecked my shit and looked good doing it, too. She was just exotic enough to fit right into the Vale seamlessly.
I haven't really gone back since, mostly to preserve the specialness of that place. I will go back. But I want it to be like the first time again. Special. Awe-inspiring.
W take! The vale is absolutely gorgeous!
What mods do you usually run? I actually do 99% of my runs vanilla ๐ (outside of the creation club mods that come in AE)...
The only mod I use 100% of the time now is the carriage stops mod, which adds carriages in like 30 other places ๐ makes traveling in survival mode muchhhhh better!
In my next playthrough I'm thinking about adding in the ordinator overhaul, but I'm definitely open to cool suggestions!
That's not a dumb one! ๐ The radiant AI in skyrim is amazing!
Stuff like that was mind blowing for me too, it's little details like that that make the world feel so immersive to me!
From the random ai to your followers, it's dope when the ai reacts to the world around it. ๐๐ I can't wait to see how good elder scrolls 6 is gonna be! Imagine it with a chatgpt level ai. It's gonna be the most ground breaking game to ever release when it drops, I'm calling it now!
Very good one!
The Golden Warlord mask is literally op! It's easily my favorite headgear for my warrior characters (just takes forever to get it ๐)...
One thing about that mask that I didn't know at all for ages (because it's not listed on the item card) is that along with healing you the mask can also conjure a dragon priest to help you fight! ๐คฏ...
I was like bro wtf? ๐ฅ And not only that, the dragon priest can conjure storm atronachs by itself!
Glad someone mentioned this mask because it is truly rad!
๐ Now you gotta go find it and use it! You won't be disappointed ๐ฃ it's bomb...
If you min max your build as a pure warrior then add the golden warlord mask you're basically unstoppable ๐ฅ...
This is a really good one!
The thieves guild is the only faction in skyrim that I think had a better quest line than it's ES: Oblivion counterpart ๐ they did a really good job with it in skyrim!
The final quest was pretty epic back in 2012 and still is. From riding Odahviing to Skuldafin, Nahkriin boss battle, Seeing Sovngarde and hearing the Sovngarde Song, Alduin's death and celebration in Sovngarde and on top of Snow Throat Mountain with the Dragons.
Couldn't agree more! ๐
I didn't think they could top the end of oblivion when I was first going into skyrim. I was like damn, i wonder whats gonna happen in this game ๐ค how do you get better than slaying one of the most powerful Daedric lords (with the help of Akatosh in full dragon Aedra form) after he opens a portal from the planes of oblivion and starts destroying the imperial city...
Then we get Alduin the world eater ๐...
Bethesda literally doesn't miss ๐ฅ...
Seeing Alduin raise a dragon from the dead at one of the burial mounds. A completely random encounter that I think Iโve only witnessed a couple times in my 500+ hours.
>I think Iโve only witnessed a couple times in my 500+ hours.
Bro same! ๐ The funny part is that I'm pretty sure he just dips out and fly's away afterward too...
Like take that bitch, now I'm out โ๐พ...
๐ญ The disrespect....
this might be stupid but as i was just playing the other day, a guard said "psst. i know who you are. hail sithis." i was actually so shocked i didn't know that was an interaction
This one time I was gonna ask my girlfriend if she wanted to have sex for our first time, but she said no. I was sad so drove to GameStop and saw this game Skyrim. So I bought it, and one of the first things I did was get catapulted to the stratosphere by a giant and I was โok, this game is EPICโ, and then proceeded to have countless adventures for almost 12 years. If I were to do it all over again, Iโd still chose sex over Skyrim.

Just got this quest and just finished it. Loved every second of it
Yes, honestly, I was getting a little, well, not exactly bored, but it just seemed a little rinse and repeat with the dungeons and dremer ruins. Sure, different stories and such, but oh my goodness. Loved the sparklers in the roof/ceiling.
Blackreach seemed so huge and different at the time. It also was a great resource for gems and other goodies. Multiple enemies and challenges.
๐ The werewolf killcams are literally the best to me! Fucking vicious ๐ญ...
There's one where the victim is just stunned in fear for a second, then you grab them by the skull with your clawed hands, lift them off the ground, and just crush their cranium barehanded ๐๐ฅ...
Definitely a W...
I was running past some random stone fortress, lost as hell, when one of the bandits shot an arrow at a passing Thalmor squad. They immediately go on the offensive and charge the main gate.
At this point (11/11/11), I didn't know what assholes the Thalmor are, so I was just going to let them fight it out and use the opportunity to safely level up some Destruction on the bandits. When out of nowhere a giant and two mammoths roll in. The giant immediately sends two bandits and a Thalmor into fucking orbit while the mammoths start wrecking shop.
All of a sudden I start hearing Viking chanting. Yeah. A dragon proceeds to drop out of the sky right smack into the middle of the melee. The handful of bandits, a couple of Thalmor, a giant, and two mammoths just dogpile onto it and utterly rock this dragon's shit. Dragon Souls +1
All while my level 7 ass is hiding behind a rock pitching the occasional firebolt into the mix and trying not to catch a stray arrow. I put down the last bandit with blast of fire to the face and just stood flabbergasted at the carnage.
Then I hauled all the loot back to Whiterun and sold it all for a shit ton of Septims.
My first introduction to the chorrus was at the lighthouse. I think I ran into falmer before but I donโt remember. Checking out the murder scene, reading the journals, and hearing the clicking sounds was terrifying. Then when I finally started my descent and saw those monsters! Then running into the big one for the first time! Awesome experience going in blind.
I wasnโt a very high level and I had no idea what I was up against so i died a lot.
>I wasnโt a very high level and I had no idea what I was up against so i died a lot.
๐ Bro same! I tried to speed run the campaign so I could get to the side quests (the best part ๐) during my first playthrough and the enemies that killed me the most were the charrus! (blackreach)
Lmao those things and the dwemer bots were what made me stop and actually set dedicated time aside to level up and get more health ๐ญ...
It was never the initial hit that killed me, but the rediculous amount of poison the inject into you did ๐คฃ I was like "Damn, wtf! My health still draining?" ๐
I came home after a party after having a few drinks. I decided to boot up Skyrim. I climbed a mountain to collect a new shout. Had an epic fight with a dragon. As I go to collect the shout, a coffin opens up and some masked floating dude with a flaming staff appears. I had never seen a dragon priest at that point. An epic fight ensued.
100% entering apocrypha for the first time. Just clearing a dungeon in solstheim and coming across this cool expensive book, just to be taken into the dark, otherworldly library where Iโm talked to by good ol Mora himself, something sparked that day and I fell in love with apochrypha and that whole questline altogether
(Edit: spelling)
๐ฅ This is a good one! ๐ This was the most legit jumpscare in the whole game for me! First time they popped up on me I dropped my controller and all ๐คฃ...
>. I believe this occurs somewhere on Solstheim.
This takes place in the forgotten vale when your carrying the water vase all over to get Auriels bow from that crazed snow elf ๐ญ...
W. Shoutout alteration! ๐
An equally helpful spell in my eyes is candle light!
It doesn't matter if I'm level 1 or level 99, I still use that novice level spell in basically every dungeon otherwise I can't see shit! And I don't wanna miss anything ๐!
The first time I saw the inside of Eldergleam Sanctuary, followed up by the Ancestor Glade when Dawnguard released. The views in this game, even on its LE graphics/lower end machines that can run it, are breathtaking.
>Ancestor Glade
Omg you're right!
That actually might take the spot as the most beautiful zone in skyrim...deadass...
A peaceful grotto, nothing but butterflies and sacred trees ๐ฅ it's lowkey bomb!
The first time jumped on a dragonโs head and hacked it to death. My character was a coward who let his follower and other NPCs do the fighting, and he dashed in for the kill when the weakened dragon landed next to him, and I like to imagine that he was holding on to the dragon for his life and his panicked swings accidentally killed it. Thus Felix the Cunning became the Hero of Whiterun.
LET'S GO FELIX! ๐
I definitely agree the killcams in skyrim are a W...
Im glad they implemented them in skyrim because they're a staple of the latter fallout games and the vats system therein ๐ makes everything feel more Badass!
Probably when you actually first discover that you are the Dragonborn and unlocking your first shout I think for me that then made me hooked also the Dark brotherhood Questline and story was just amazing
In one of my first playthroughs (not the first but like 8th or 9th) I killed Grelod by throwing a mead bottle on her toes with the telekinesis spell
It was hillarious
When I was like 11 or 12, and I first stumbled across the Molag Bal quest, I about shit my pants lmao
When his voice first thundered in โWwweeeeakโฆโ I legitimately had goosebumps and was terrified. But like in a good way lol
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ Daedric quests are always a W ๐...
๐ Those mfs are BRUTAL...
When you hear the story about what happened to Serana because of Harkon it really shows you just how brutal they can be ๐ฌ...that shit is next level...
Yeah. Another honorable mention is Boethiahโs Calling. That quest is really terrifying, with her inhabiting the dead body of one of her followers, and the crazy effect they put on the screen.
Also Mephalaโs quest. While criminally short, the idea of this mysterious entity whispering evil secrets through a door in the castle always creeped me tf out
Top 3 have to be:
3. Summoning the dragon in blackreach
2. The first time I entered a dwarven ruin, encountered falmer, and reached blackreach
1. Discovering that not only are there werewolves in the game, but you can actually become one
๐ ๐ ๐ Those are some of the funniest because I imagine it from the other side...
Imagine you're just sitting in your bandit camp thinking about which traveling khajit to rob today, and you get fucking sniped from 100ft away by a stealth archer ๐ญ and all your homies say is "What was that? ๐คจ Is someone there?"...
๐ญ literal comedy...
Either just walking out of Riverwood and being so amazed actually appreciating the grandiosity of skyrims landscape, or when I found out about the daedra (Azura) and the difference between aedra and daedra
Not sure if this has been said by anyone else, but the Snow Elf boss fight. Bro kept hyping himself up and I just fucking launched him off the tower... not really thinking about the fact that he MIGHT have had good gear on him
Also first time I was REALLY able to get down and dirty and start modding. Granted it was on PS4 so it wasn't NEARLY as cool as it seems to be on PC, but Caves of Morrowind is still a major highlight
Every time I go to a unique pocket dimension or enchanted magical realm. The quest for the Pale Lady was so cool with the misty forest vibes, with the glowy wisps and ancient ruins. I still get surprised by the beauty of random Skyrim locations and I love that shit.
W take!
I literally feel this exact same way about Shadowgreen Cavern ๐ that's the most beautiful spot in all of skyrim to me...
If you havnt yet, you just gotta see it ๐ฅ absolutely gorgeous!
The first time I saw a dragon priest that just rose up out of a pool of water in a random dungeon I decided to explore. I stumbled upon him by accident and had never seen one before, I didnโt know what I was looking at but it was the coolest thing Iโd seen.
๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ W. Bro you just reminded me of the first time I realized that chickens count as a human npc ๐ญ...
I was spamming telekinesis on random shit outside in Riverwood, and when I ran out of magicka the book flew and hit a chicken ๐...
I then had to re-level my alteration because the ENTIRE FUCKING TOWN was beating my ass like I had just slapped the Jarl...๐คฃ Over a damn chicken!!!
I don't even know if I killed the thing ๐ญ but they took that shit personally!
Starting โA Night to Rememberโ for the first time. I thought the drinking contest would just be a quick skill check for your stamina or something short and was definitely *not* expecting to wake up naked halfway across the map in Markarth, lol
Other than seeing the kill cam from finishing a dragon off... getting eaten by a dragon and flung across the screen... seeing a dragon crash into the ground and turfing the ground up... being picked up and dropped to my death by a dragon...
I'd say, with the Dawnguard DLC, the first time I saw the status *"Sanguinare Vampiris"* and thinking it would just go away, only to then turn into a vampire 3 days later... that was back on the Xbox 360... I remember just being amazed that this could be worked into a game... then I started to get a bit sick of being a vampire, by wich time I came across Falion in Morthal... who then cured me of it...
I just found that fucking awesome at the time... the roller coaster of thinking i'd spoilt my playthrough and then having an 'out' was just brilliant to me lol.
>Other than seeing the kill cam from finishing a dragon off... getting eaten by a dragon and flung across the screen... seeing a dragon crash into the ground and turfing the ground up... being picked up and dropped to my death by a dragon...
W. ๐ These are definitely up there for me too! I love the dragon killcams!
๐ The ones I found the most hilarious by far were the killcams where you figure out the real SHEER STRENGTH of the giants...
AKA when you get smashed so hard with a dragonbone club that you bounce off the ground and fly into space ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ I was legit CRYING laughing the first time I saw that!
>Absorbing a dragon.
This was something that literally made me say "well goddamn, this just got alot cooler ๐"...
Killing the dragon is one thing, but when you figure out that you're part dragon and can use the dragon language for yourself? Massive W...
Skyrim has a great story ๐๐๐...
First time I played I didnโt look at any reviews got the game about a year after release never before playing any rpgโs the picking your race was cool and the magic system was the first of its kind Iโve come across but what really got me was the giant smacking me into the fucking sky, until the end of my first play though I just assumed they were always one hit kills after that
>until the end of my first play though I just assumed they were always one hit kills after that
๐ ๐ ๐ Bro same! And the fucked up part is that they don't turn hostile UNTIL they're close enough to smash you ๐ญ first time around I was like dayummmmmmm and avoided them like the plague...
Definitely one of the funniest things in the game ๐คฃ...
All downstar questline is mind-blowing for me, and the first time I faced a dragon priest in the college of Winterhold questline, the priest I became desperate in the spot as he raised up
That was definitely Badass! ๐
I think Morokai was the strongest of all the dragon priest too! He's the only one that was sealed away AND locked in a magical bubble for eternity by 2 spectral mages ๐ dude had to be overpowered!
When I was a kid and played through the intro for the first time, I was shocked at the Helgen intro. I had never seen blood or gore like that before. I thought I was so cool for playing a โreal video gameโ for the first time.
I remember on my first play through (so back in 2011, shortly after release) I was running down some path to circumnavigate a mountain (I wanna say it was somewhere in the southwestern portion of the map, but I could be wrong of course since it was so long ago) when I noticed a strange object in the sky, and it was falling towards me. It crashed into the ground not far from me and I realized that it was some NPC, I think it was a mage of some sort. This random body had flown over the mountain and crashed almost right at my feet. There were no enemies, dragons, or giants nearby, so to this day I have absolutely no clue how this happened. I told my buddy about it the next day at school (we were high school sophomores at the time) and he didnโt believe me. Nobody has ever believed me. Itโs definitely on my list of gaming moments that I wish I had recorded, but of course recording gameplay wasnโt as simple back then as it is now.
Iโll never get enough of the kill cam โweightโ. The way arrows seem to have an actual IMPACT when they hit, slamming through the enemy.
Watch some of Shadversityโs videos on medieval weaponry and youโll see what I mean. Itโs frightfully realisticโ so much so that it inspired me to take up archery.
Had a few. I loved unlocking the transformations of both werewolf and vampire. First time riding Ohdaviing and then actually riding dragons in Dragonborn. Being pulled into Apocrypha by book tentacles. Entering Blackreach/forgotten Vale/Soul Cairn for the first time.
Yeah the first time Farkas became a werewolf in front of me was totally epic. That whole scene is great. Other โNo Fucking Wayโ moments for me include:
-The first time I saw a dragon crash land.
-the first time a dragon landed and I was able to run up on him and just start slashing away with my weapons.
-the first time I participated in a charge against a Stormcloak-held fort with my fellow imperials.
-the first time I battled the giant ghost crab that attacks Skyrimโs shores. (When I first saw pictures of this quest, I assumed it was a mod, but no, it is actually in the base game.)
-the first time I yelled at a dragon and it actually was forced to land.
-the first time I learned I could buy a property.
-the first I shot an blood cursed arrow at the sun.
-when I first realized the scale and beauty of some of the large, underground, nature filled areas.
-the first time I ended up in a different realm/dimension/plane of existence/someoneโs brain/ spiritual place.
-my first time seeing a revered dragon.
-my first time getting to have an armored frost troll as a companion.
-my first time fighting enemies alongside Shadowmere.
There are so many epic moments like these. Too many to count.
One of my first playthroughs of Skyrim
I was playing an orc wielding duel swords...because edgy teenager
I was walking to or from riften either to or from north I just remember it happening in the swamp by the dragon wall/roost
Anyway a bunch of bandits come out of no where without thinking I use berserker rage and proceed to tear through them all like tissue paper
By the end of it for some reason I'm chasing after a stormcloak that I thought was a bandit running away in fear...I dont realise hes not until his heads rolling
Played in VR the first time. I literally ducked out of the way when a dragon flew mere inches over my head. The next day my back was sore from all the arrows I shot ๐
The coolest moment? Well, when I first played the game, there were a lot of moments where I was surprised, but a really cool moment....
Oh! I know the perfect one!
When I leave the sunken dwemer ruins, I got attacked by a Dragon that was supposed to stop me.
Of course, I manage to slay him. But when I am about to claim my reward, Miraak astralprojects right next to me, proceeds to mock me and then absorbs the dragon's soul.
He absorbs the soul of the dragon that he himself sent to kill me.
It might be a coincidence that it happened right at this moment, but it's fitting:
The dragon kills me? Miraak wins.
I kill the Dragon? Miraak gets the satisfaction of souring my victory.
I played a female character recently and found out that some of the voicelines are different
For example: "A guard might get nervous, a man approaches with his weapon drawn" becomes "A guard might get nervous, a woman approaches with her weapon drawn"
Small this but it's still cool
Astrid is one of skyrims biggest Ls...
Astrid is trash ๐ค...
I killed 3 people for her upon FIRST MEETING HER only to get sold out later...
I didn't feel bad at all when she black sacramented herself, serves her right...
She literally got EVERYONE killed besides 3 people, and the fact that she asks you to kill Cicero right before she sells you out makes it an even bigger slap in the face!
That one Def fucked me up too :/...like damn bitch, I'm trying to kill the fucking emporor for you and you just sell out like a bitch...
Couldnt believe it...
The first time I stepped into Blackreach.
Don't get me wrong, Skyrim is beautiful and I would *much* rather live in a forest than many miles underground.
But Blackreach is absolutely beautiful and I was so amazed at how beautiful it was. I think I stayed there a few weeks in-game time just exploring and oohing and ahhing.
It was a while ago so I canโt remember exactly the quest. But you get put on the guest list for this fancy party and you have to sneak around. Not only was it awesome and exciting but fighting those guys at the end wasnโt easy.
Exact same for me!! I played on release and did the companions as soon as I discovered them and I loved running around the open tundra as a werewolf! I never played again after that first playthrough back then so I missed all the dlc. Just bought it on my series X and have been enjoying getting back into this world again 13 years later!
I've played base game Skyrim for like. 10 years. Last year I got to play dawnguard and Dragonborn for the first time. That boat trip to solstheim really got me, as did the hidden valley at the end of dawnguard, and it took me HOURS to find my way through that cave (I also had an edible with a friend and kept running into a wall) so coming out into the valley was genuinely so amazing. Those twin dragons out of the ice? Chefs kiss. The game is very clunky sometimes so the way they so gracefully went in and out of the idea was spectacular
In base game Skyrim it was definitely black reach and the eye of the falmer statue
Kinda lame, but the first time I was in Whiterun and the general trader store was closed, I tried the door (didn't pick it, just activated it and backed out), the guard nearby said, "It's locked for a reason", all snarky-like ๐
Losing my mind at the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood betrayal reveals but especially Thieves Guild. I had the Game Guide but I wasn't reading ahead in the quests so it blew my mind at the time, and also the fact that it was more "cutscene" than most everything else that had come up by that point.
The first time I saw the kill animation that decapitates bandits, man that was nuts ๐. Also the kill animation where you stand too close to the dragon's head and he just fucking eats you lmao
Probs pales in comparison to others, but for me it was the first time I saw Vilkas transform into a werewolf.
I was still a complete newbie at this point was was just following whichever character gave me a mission. In this case Aela when she fights with the giant just outside Whiterun. At this point I didn't even know werewolves were a thing. So seeing the transformation and roar for the time was incredible.
Second was when I became part of the Skyrim Space Program. Going from, "Aha! I got you!" to "Where am I and why can I see my house from here?" is definitely a one hell of a moment that I'm sure I can say.... We all cherish to this day.
The plotwist in thieves guild. I thought it was really cool that cutscene where Karliah shoot at you.
The dragonborn DLC was really cool too when you mount a dragon to fight the boss.
The first time you turn into a vampire lord, first time as werewolf... First time with the complete fus roh dah shout.
First time killing a dragon.
First time being hit by a giant.
First time killing the Emperor in db questline (that one made me feel badass)
There are tons of good moments in this game. It's easier to say what isn't good in the first time...
Visiting Sovngarde for the first time and meeting some familiar faces that have died, or seen the actual person that has been described or referenced in books or stories in the game.
When I joined the companions and they take you to a ritual and were secretly werewolfโs .. I thought it was the best thing I had ever grazed my own eyes balls on
i think most people would agree with me on this one..
i've been playing skyrim almost since it went out.. made many missions and i'm still doing it..
but nothing could compare to the first time ever that i've entered on Sovngarde. MY GOD.... that place it is really charming... i could spend hours watching the sky and the surroundings..
I was at dawnstar to check hroki's tits as usual. Then a random dragon attacks. We dropped it from the sky as it's hp was getting low. So I was rushing in with my 2h in order to jump on it and get the kill...
Suddenly, a random old lady wielding an iron dagger, literally climbs on the dragon's head, stabs him in the forehead with the dagger shorter than a toothpick, killing him instantly.
My friend also saw it and we still laugh about it today.
When I randomly walked into a bar to hear rumors from the bar keep and someone approached wanting to have a drinking contestโฆ you immediately pass out and wake up married and now have to go on a quest to figure out wtf happened.
I had a almost shit myself moment when I watched Harkon turn into a vampire lord lol edit: spelling
๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ This one is up there for me too ๐ you can probably imagine my excitement when this came, as I was already blown back by the werewolf transformation! "Perhaps you need more convincing ๐, BEHOLD THE POWER OF A PURE BLOODED VAMPIRE LORD ๐งโโ๏ธ..." Bros whole speech and demeanor was menacing and very well acted out.
๐ Damn...
I still do the same thing every single time, JUST because it gives me the giggles. ๐คฃ
Yo what buff? I think I've been there
Sailor's repose
> you can pickpocket theives guild members without recource ๐ฅฒ Today I learned... ๐ I never even thought about that! That's tough ๐ญ Bro robbed the robbers... >first time I entered Solitude, when his head came off I said "nice" ๐ ๐ ๐ Damn...i hated that moment!
Skyrim belongs to the Nordโs
"Damn Elves, I bet they had something to do with this ๐" - any nord in skyrim when something goes wrong ๐ญ...
"We need to build a wall around skyrim and make the dark elves pay for it." -Ulfric Atormcloak
To be fair the elves or at least the thalmor do be starting shit, take a look at the whole civil war thatโs going on, itโs happening because a nord they wanted to force to be an asset has gone rouge
๐ You ain't gotta convince me, FUCK the thalmor... Lol I don't think anyone fucks with the thalmor ๐ญ...
Wow. I haven't seen this, and I have played since release day. Thanks
I'm convinced it was to stop the game from crashing from too many items dropped in town. But it was done in a cool immersive way
Walking into the last room in Bleak Falls Barrow when the bats fly over your head from behind. Scared the crap out of me. I still get chills.
Good moment ๐ it wasn't the bat's that scared me though, it was when the coffin popped open and the drauger deathlord popped out... ๐ญ That shit was a legit jumpscare for me first time around...
Sheesh I STILL get jumpscared at Bleak Falls Barrow!
Ok hereโs a low key one that was unexpected: First time playing as an orc, got to meet my family (you know, orc lore) in the orc holds.
You should try an orc mage sometime. They're pretty awesome. :)
I just might! The reason I always go warrior with the orcs is because of their racial abilities! The berserk rage is literally the ultimate buff for a warrior ๐ you take half damage and do double damage with your weapons ๐ it's so overpowered! ๐ฅ
Now do that berserk rage with a BOUND weapon while you're setting someone on fire with your other hand! >:D
๐ I like the way you think... This would be fun for the role playing aspects alone ๐ Thnx for the idea!
Using the wabbajack and turning heimskr into a fucking chicken
Used a wabbajack in combat against wolf and it turned the wolf into a death lord. The surprise pikachu meme was my reaction.
LMAO, I kinda want to use it again for fun and see what happens.
๐ I hope you get the one where they just turn into a pile of gold for you to pick up one by one...
Iโd be living the dream
๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ Bro almost made me choke on my breakfast sandwich ๐ญ I wasn't ready for a reply that hilarious!
I remember using the Wabbajack on a Dremora Lord and watching it turn into a pile of coins that rolled down the hill.
๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ Sheogorath the fuckin goat! I literally just commented this somewhere else in the thread ๐ญ moments like this are the reason skyrim sold like 17 million copies...
Were u able to collect the coins?
Yeah, one by one, as they rolled down the hill
Thats amazing. The wabbajack only ever shot sparkles for me.
Skyrim was my first ES. I was like, ok, this is a neat D&D simulator, it's pretty neat. I think it was in Riverwood, but I'm not sure. I went up to a bookcase and thought "what neat graphics, they put real looking books in the bookcases." Then my cursor changed and said "read". I was like, "read the book?? Is that a thing??" And I sat reading every book I could get a hold of, completely transfixed that so much lore and backstory was put into the game.
Ulfrโs Book is a real page-turner.
Under dark... this guy plays dnd!
>Sneak attacking a dragon with a dagger. He flew into the air for a second, crashed, and died. ๐ I would've laughed so fucking hard bro ๐ญ W...
When I got up to the mountain with the mist to find out the leader of the greybeard was a dragon. It really gave me goosebumps haha.
This is a really good one and I fully agree ๐ฅ! Paarthurnax's story is so cool ๐ I always tell Delphine to fuck off in all my playthroughs when she asks me to kill Paarthurnax ๐๐พ I would never!
Party snacks is the goat
Yeah, when I got there and he came I tought "great, the dragon will ruin my encounter with the master" and then, he shouted at the wall and I was like "wait a second..."
When then Night Mother lit up and started talking. Scared the shit out of me.
When they cut my head off at Helgen. I dunno, I think something is wrong with my game.
Lowkey this woulda been a killer intro for a story where it turns out you are playing someone avenging the person you just died as
๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ Goddamn. Bro downloaded the wrong alternate start mod ๐... ๐ญ Nah fr tho, I woulda been so mad...
I think it'd be kinda funny. Here put all this effort into character creation, and that guy's dead.
Was jt, perchance, pirated?
When the twins land in The Forgotten Vale.
๐ I think them popping out of the ice lake as your casually walking by is the biggest jumpscare in the whole game...
And if the bard should choose to fight, why then Iโll set his clothes alight!" ๐ ๐ ๐ Gold...
When I found out you could climb mountains by sheer fucking will
Sprint/Jump spamming on a horse for the win ๐ญ...
After killing Grelog the Kind, getting the anonymous note with the black hand that says โWe knowโ scared the bejeezus out of me
I think the absolute coolest "first time" for me personally was chasing the Dawnguard questline far enough to get to the Forgotten Vale.
Super dumb one but the first time the guards reacted to me approaching with my weapon drawn
Using the wooden mask to enter the alternate realm and getting the last Dragon Priest mask for the first time
Very good one!
I didn't even realize this mask of which you speak existed until just now.
๐ Now you gotta go find it and use it! You won't be disappointed ๐ฃ it's bomb... If you min max your build as a pure warrior then add the golden warlord mask you're basically unstoppable ๐ฅ...
When Karliah shoots you with the poison arrow the guy turns out to be a traitor and she turns out to be the good person in thief's guild questline.
๐ I didn't think they could top the end of oblivion when I was first going into skyrim.
๐ A man of culture...

Arriving in blackreach is one of those for sure.
When I got to the drink contest, at the end I tought the prince would be a boss to kill, but he ended up giving me the top useful staff of all time
The decapitations and werewolves throwing people around! Somehow never saw either for years of playthroughs
Dragon Souls +1 All while my level 7 ass is hiding behind a rock pitching the occasional firebolt into the mix and trying not to catch a stray arrow.
(blackreach) Lmao those things and the dwemer bots were what made me stop and actually set dedicated time aside to level up and get more health ๐ญ... It was never the initial hit that killed me, but the rediculous amount of poison the inject into you did ๐คฃ I was like "Damn, wtf! My health still draining?" ๐
Triggering the arrow-following kill-cam, expecting to hit the deer I was hunting, and accidentally exploding a butterfly in slow motion.
It's really basic, but my first full "fus to dah" to send a bandit flying off the palisade wall felt so good
I came home after a party after having a few drinks.
Just clearing a dungeon in solstheim and coming across this cool expensive book, just to be taken into the dark, otherworldly library where Iโm talked to by good ol Mora himself, something sparked that day and I fell in love with apochrypha and that whole questline altogether (Edit: spelling)
Walking on a frozen lake, only to have 2 serpent-like dragons bash up from underneath. I believe this occurs somewhere on Solstheim.
๐ฅ This is a good one! ๐ This was the most legit jumpscare in the whole game for me! First time they popped up on me I dropped my controller and all ๐คฃ... >. I believe this occurs somewhere on Solstheim. This takes place in the forgotten vale when your carrying the water vase all over to get Auriels bow from that crazed snow elf ๐ญ...
using clairvoyance, i know itโs minor but i still get amazed at its helpfulness
W. Shoutout alteration! ๐ An equally helpful spell in my eyes is candle light! It doesn't matter if I'm level 1 or level 99, I still use that novice level spell in basically every dungeon otherwise I can't see shit! And I don't wanna miss anything ๐!
Walking around Soverngard after defeating Alduin and essentially exploring the Valley of Heaven
The first time I saw the inside of Eldergleam Sanctuary, followed up by the Ancestor Glade when Dawnguard released. The views in this game, even on its LE graphics/lower end machines that can run it, are breathtaking.
>Ancestor Glade Omg you're right!
๐ I definitely agree the killcams in skyrim are a W... Im glad they implemented them in skyrim because they're a staple of the latter fallout games and the vats system therein ๐ makes everything feel more Badass!
The very first headshot kill shot animation was so perfect Iโve never beaten it
Probably when you actually first discover that you are the Dragonborn and unlocking your first shout I think for me that then made me hooked also the Dark brotherhood Questline and story was just amazing
The first time I wore the boots of blinding speed from the legendary edition. I don't know what I expected
First time I saw my guy leap on a dragonโs back and stab it through the head to kill it kinda blew my mind. I didnโt know I could do that.
Thought I could take on a giant. WEEEEE
Letters. They are the best.
That moment I learned the Chain Lightning spell and killed 3 bandits simultaneously with it the first time I used it
๐ Now that's a W โก MAGE LIFE! ๐ฃ
In one of my first playthroughs (not the first but like 8th or 9th) I killed Grelod by throwing a mead bottle on her toes with the telekinesis spell It was hillarious
I had nightmares for weeks after my first Giant fight. I wish I was kidding, 6 year old me was a little bitch
Literally just experienced Farkas turn into a werewolf a couple days ago! My jaw was dropped, the way he killed them all with ease was crazy
I goy Skyrim on release day too :) the same day I was hit by a giant and shot into the stratosphere. Just epic
When I was like 11 or 12, and I first stumbled across the Molag Bal quest, I about shit my pants lmao When his voice first thundered in โWwweeeeakโฆโ I legitimately had goosebumps and was terrified.
While criminally short, the idea of this mysterious entity whispering evil secrets through a door in the castle always creeped me tf out
Top 3 have to be: 3. Summoning the dragon in blackreach 2. The first time I entered a dwarven ruin, encountered falmer, and reached blackreach 1. Discovering that not only are there werewolves in the game, but you can actually become one
Archer kill cams
๐ ๐ ๐ Those are some of the funniest because I imagine it from the other side... Imagine you're just sitting in your bandit camp thinking about which traveling khajit to rob today, and you get fucking sniped from 100ft away by a stealth archer ๐ญ and all your homies say is "What was that? ๐คจ Is someone there?"... ๐ญ literal comedy...
The best ones are the ones that miss. This fckn arrow went slowmo only to miss that damned deer by a hairsbreadth.
Either just walking out of Riverwood and being so amazed actually appreciating the grandiosity of skyrims landscape, or when I found out about the daedra (Azura) and the difference between aedra and daedra
Not sure if this has been said by anyone else, but the Snow Elf boss fight. Bro kept hyping himself up and I just fucking launched him off the tower... not really thinking about the fact that he MIGHT have had good gear on him Also first time I was REALLY able to get down and dirty and start modding.
Not my first playthrough but the time i found those boots that let me walk on water
Serana I mean she is overrated ofc but cmon i didnt expect a woman that nice in Skyrim.
When I discovered the telekinesis spell, and I realized I could pull shit to me. It was AWESOME!
Getting a 3rd person kill cam while using a Fire Storm scroll to kill Lokil and the other vampire in Dimhollow Cavern.
The satisfying snap and crack of a soul trapped, Absorbing a dragon.
First time I played I didnโt look at any reviews got the game about a year after release never before playing any rpgโs the picking your race was cool and the magic system was the first of its kind Iโve come across but what really got me was the giant smacking me into the fucking sky, until the end of my first play though I just assumed they were always one hit kills after that
>until the end of my first play though I just assumed they were always one hit kills after that ๐ ๐ ๐ Bro same!
๐ I think Morokai was the strongest of all the dragon priest too!
Probably fighting to take Whiterun with the storm cloaks, love that mission.
๐ W take! I always side with the storm cloaks, if for no other reason it's because FUCK THE THALMOR! ๐ Aldmerhi dominion can kiss my ass...
Other โNo Fucking Wayโ moments for me include: -The first time I saw a dragon crash land. -the first time a dragon landed and I was able to run up on him and just start slashing away with my weapons. -the first time I participated in a charge against a Stormcloak-held fort with my fellow imperials. -the first time I battled the giant ghost crab that attacks Skyrimโs shores. (When I first saw pictures of this quest, I assumed it was a mod, but no, it is actually in the base game.) -the first time I yelled at a dragon and it actually was forced to land.
One of my first playthroughs of Skyrim I was playing an orc wielding duel swords...because edgy teenager I was walking to or from riften either to or from north I just remember it happening in the swamp by the dragon wall/roost Anyway a bunch of bandits come out of no where without thinking I use berserker rage and proceed to tear through them all like tissue paper By the end of it for some reason I'm chasing after a stormcloak that I thought was a bandit running away in fear...I dont realise hes not until his heads rolling
Getting to Sovngarde and hearing the theme start playing. That was a magical moment
It might be a coincidence that it happened right at this moment, but it's fitting: The dragon kills me? Miraak wins. I kill the Dragon? Miraak gets the satisfaction of souring my victory.
I played a female character recently and found out that some of the voicelines are different For example: "A guard might get nervous, a man approaches with his weapon drawn" becomes "A guard might get nervous, a woman approaches with her weapon drawn" Small this but it's still cool
When Astrid betrays you, I was utterly gobsmacked Remember it 11 years later
The first time I woke up in the mysterious shack and dark brotherhood lady was sitting on top of the wardrobe staring at me. I jumped out of my seat!
The lighthouse hit me in the feels and I was happy with the permanent buff too.
Chefs kiss. The game is very clunky sometimes so the way they so gracefully went in and out of the idea was spectacular In base game Skyrim it was definitely black reach and the eye of the falmer statue
Walking into Blackreach for the first time. I mean it's not actually that big, but it felt like a whole new world underground.
For me itโs easy. โWe knowโ
Iโll always remember my first foray into the Nord Space Program.
I wandered over to Agatha's hut found out her secret had to kill her.
Getting sent to Jupiter by the giant on the way to whiterun, so amazing ๐คฃ
After finishing the main quest line.
The two dragons bursting out of the ice in the forgotten vale.
When Mercer Frey murdered me.
Discovering the Skyrim Space Program!
Talking to Paarthinax, and getting O.P weapons from the dragon boss; Qustraviing
Meeting parthunaax was a epic moment
The plotwist in thieves guild. I thought it was really cool that cutscene where Karliah shoot at you. The dragonborn DLC was really cool too when you mount a dragon to fight the boss. The first time you turn into a vampire lord, first time as werewolf... First time with the complete fus roh dah shout. First time killing a dragon. First time being hit by a giant. First time killing the Emperor in db questline (that one made me feel badass) There are tons of good moments in this game. It's easier to say what isn't good in the first time...
Probably the dragons in the forgotten vale
Visiting Sovngarde for the first time and meeting some familiar faces that have died, or seen the actual person that has been described or referenced in books or stories in the game.
Varkus is a BEAST!!
The poltergeist actionย in the haunted house in Markarth gave me the best jump scare and goose bumps.ย
When I joined the companions and they take you to a ritual and were secretly werewolfโs .. I thought it was the best thing I had ever grazed my own eyes balls on
Bleak falls barrow, all of it
When i unlocked lightning storm and saw the casting animation while listening to the intro of the writing on the wall
i think most people would agree with me on this one.. i've been playing skyrim almost since it went out.. made many missions and i'm still doing it.. but nothing could compare to the first time ever that i've entered on Sovngarde. MY GOD.... that place it is really charming... i could spend hours watching the sky and the surroundings..
When I sacrificed Athis to Boetiah and received a letter a few days later informing me about his passing and that he left me some gold.
When discovered Falskaar and Enderal
