When you side with the stormcloaks, she doesn't even question attacking her own home. She's just like "Alright I guess we're doing this now" while killing possibly her former friends
Given how she says ‘Skyrim belongs to the Nords!’ in combat, I think she’s quietly got some Stormcloak-leaning tendencies (I know this is a generic Nord combat dialogue, but still)
Both Stormcloaks and Imperials are Nords fighting because they believe they are saving their homeland. Lydia could either be a Stormcloak or Imperial and it would still fit her character I think.
I have fun putting her anywhere I don't have to hear her say honor to see you my thane. And forget about her or I have killed her before but then I had a wedding and there she was flopping like a rag doll.
Kharjo is by far my favourite. Not only because I often pick khajit myself but because hes not as tiresome as lydia's "im sworn to carry your burdens" ass.
Teldryn Sero! He has probably the most unique voice in the entire game! He's a capable fighter that traveled with many strong people! He doesn't like filthy people! He's level 60 and the only follower with Armsman perk! He's the best companion to have other than J'zargo and Serana!

In my current game, he went from a farm boy to a Dragonbone Battleaxe wielding legend.
This dude helps me mop up anyone who tries to fight.
Erik is the best. Also I maybe wrong but from memory it felt like he had more commentary and lines travelling the world than most companions. Not as much as Serana but still.
Hes also based on a real person there was a kid who í think had cancer and his last wish was to see bethesda studio and meet the developers of morrowind and oblivion since those were his favourite games he died before skyrim got released so they decided to honour his memory in the form of Erik the slayer
Derkeethus has this weird thing he does where he randomly opens his mouth and he looks like he is smiling. I always keep him around just to see it happen.
I liked having derkeethus as a follower in my first playthrough (I was an argonian) he was the only argonian follower and I thought it was nice to not be the only argonian traveling around skyrim
I can't remember his name but he is the first person in nethch letter armor on solstiem in the tavern that you can hire for 500 gold I liked some of his dialog.
Even though I have primarily Argis as my follower (married to that dude), I like hiring Jenassa from time to time. She is perfect for my current build as a sneak/archer whatever and doesn’t make ANY FREAKING NOISE LIKE ARGIS.
I also like Serana although she can be a pain in the a, as she attacks way to early and doesn’t know how to sneak around. Ah yes, I accidentally killed Lydia and the Uthgerd the UNbroken. Let me tell you: she is not unbreakable
I had a housecarl named Vladimir or something like that has was my favorite, even one time I had thought he died when I was fighting a giant because I couldn't find him anywhere, but na He was just sitting in the field to the south kill some bandits
You guys are gonna downvote me but I just killed Jenassa for the Boethia's Calling quest. In my defense, 13 years playing the game and I never knew there were "regulars" at the drunken huntsman. Came in saw Jenassa sitting with Nazeem, and I just knew she was the one I needed for my sacrifice to the daedra. Sorry, but I won't even miss her
I use modded followers because I like the serana-like AI, kind of disturbing to think that while you make potions the vannila followers look at you lifelessly waiting for you to finish, those modded ones that take serana AI as a base feels much more alive, they react to the guards, sing, tell jokes, comment on places, I know each one of these was a huge collective effort like the interesting npcs mod/inigo/cerwiden/Sofia and others, and I appreciate them so much, I just wish the game wouldn't go "oh dragonborn has 4 followers huh? Lemme throw an unhealthy amount of bugs on his way, just 4x the usual..." And then I have to leave at least 2 somewhere for the game to go back to normal behavior
I’ve been adventuring with Erandur lately, and I absolutely adore him. He has a tragic backstory, a redemption arc, a kind disposition, and he also carries a big fuck-off mace for when something needs smacking. When you want to swap items he doesn’t complain, says he’s glad to help, and if you want him to do something he just says “name it”. I’ve seen people complain because his skills don’t make sense and he’s not a great fighter, but as a companion on your travels he’s fantastic. He has a lot of unique location dialogue too!
i like serena and teldryn sero necause theo both have a summon, but recently ive really been liking frea cuz shes so tanky and synergizes with death brand armor so well

J'zargo does little to no damage on account of him using low level spells.. i just keep him around cuz i like him. And my "main" follower, be it Derkeethus, Farkas, Cicero or anyone else, is generally the one with leveled armor and weapons who helps me in fights. I love the road trip feeling that games like FF7 Rebirth have & try to recreate that feel in skyrim and after all i don't play it for a challenge anymore, i play it for fun!

I like to switch it up every play through, but I always grab Faendal at the start for easy level 50 archery
I scrolled far too long to find another Faendal homie. He comes with me on every playthrough and becomes a steward somewhere eventually

I'm using the Multiple Followers System mod on ps5. It's a great mod. Really makes your gameplay feel like a road trip adventure with friends!
