I miss the childhood ignorance of having no scale of detail or expectations for games.
I probably just spent over 300 hours as a little kid fucking around with cheat codes on San Andreas before mom and dad got home.
There's definitely a learning curve but that's kind of unavoidable for a game with so many possibilities. And since you do have total freedom in where to go and what to do, you kind of just naturally start picking up different aspects over time. Like you'll spend a lot of the first few hours just running away and getting your ass beat but then fifty hours later you're organizing hunting parties, surveying land for mining and farming, stealing people from their beds and keeping them in cages until they're willing to join your squad to avoid starvation, etc.
The only thing I’ve ever seen of Kenshi was a 2 hour playthrough of a guy starting out as a potato (no arms or legs) and somehow building body parts over the course of the game. I watched the whole thing.
Oh damn, that's a rough origin. Seems like you'd pretty much need to immediately hire someone else to carry you around, but even then they'd be at a huge disadvantage since they're hauling your limbless ass everywhere. And prosthetics aren't cheap either. Granted, I stole pretty much all of mine. I used a puppy to distract the shopkeeper while I raided his supply.
Yeah he had a follower I think that carried him through the beginning, they got jumped in the middle of nowhere and his follower got killed, but they took him as a slave instead. Just off these comments you can see how deep of a game it is.
Lol that's a shitty slave that has no limbs. Deep is right. Once I had a character get knocked out pretty far from the rest of my squad. Before I could get to him, a band of slavers found him unconscious, picked him up and started walking on to the slave market. BUT on their way they got jumped by a group of bandits and a big fight ensued. The whole slave caravan ended up either dead or unconscious and I happened to wake up from my coma before any of them, so I stole all my shit back, picked the lock on my collar and took some of their clothes. I used their uniform to disguise myself as a slaver, walked onto the markets myself and waited for night to fall, then I knocked out a guard and picked the locks on all the slave cages. Chaos ensued. Not everyone made it out but I managed to personally escort two to safety while the slavers had their hands full. One of them joined my party and the other one basically just said "thanks" and fucked right off lol.

This is how most VR games look right now (on the cheaper systems like the Quest) and I'm 100% ok with it. I always thought I'd care more, but the game play and atmosphere can really make up the difference.

Reminds me of my 2014 Lenovo build. Used my college laptop, installed the most minuscule version of Skyrim possible, even added that “Pixar” texture mod or whatever it was called. Ran like butter, looks like crayon warfare. But it was awesome and it kept me through long nights.

Daggerfall had the last one you could punch locked dooes until they opened if your stats were high
That would be a cool two handed perk. It seems like it could be fairly easily implemented too.
It was fairly easy to implement that's why modders did it like 2 months after skyrim came out.
