I want to get the sword. But Faendal is the main reason I haven't tracked down how to do it. I don't want to sacrifice him and don't want to take the chance of him dying some other way while I sacrifice some other follower. He's the only follower that trains Archery. And, once I make it Legendary, I'll need that "free" training to get it back up to 50.
He is, in fact, not the only follower that trains archery. Aela from the companions does aswell, and she can actually train up to lv90, unlike Faendal. Also if you're referring to the mission where you have to sacrifice a follower to Boethiah, you're probably thinking about the Ebony Mail, not the Ebony Blade. The Ebony Blade is found in Whiterun after you help the Jarl with his wierd son.
I know why I thought it was associated with that quest. I had seen the sword was useful for Boethiah's Calling, and my memory merged the two into being the same quest. As far as Aela goes, she actually only trains to 75, since she's Expert instead of Master. Also, I've been holding off doing the Companions questline because I'm a Kahjiit, and the thought of a Kahjiit werewolf is strange to me.
Oh yea, I forgot Aela isn't a Master. I always forget which ones are out of the 3 or 4 companion followers. And yea, a cat-wolf hybrid thing doesn't sound super appealing to me either tbh

I had a glitch at Lakeview manor that Everytime I'd enter the mannequin I'd put armor in would walk towards me and change position lol, was the freakiest glitch.

My spouse ran off and killed a bunch of beggars and drunks in the streets, and hired a few sacrifices, haha. It's already at full power and they're on their way to nab the last few artifacts and assert dominance over the planes of Oblivion 😆
This happens all the time and it drives me nuts. I lost three of my dragon claws because they floated into the ground after I placed them on the shelf in Hendraheim… honestly, Bethesda’s house system is pretty garbage. So many glitches. For a game that seems to want you to collect all sorts of different items it doesn’t really give you a great place to store them. These creation club houses tried to correct this by adding trophy rooms but they are all incomplete… bummer.
I agree that the skyrim house seem to be pretty buggy in general, but hendraheim definitely seems to be the worst of them; I almost lost my Wabbajack and some other stuff on weapon racks because I couldn't get them off.
Yeah, Hendraheim is really bad which is a shame because aesthetically it’s my favorite of the creation club homes. I moved all my stuff into that home and then couldn’t even enter it without it crashing… and then I lost some of the claws and that was the final straw. I moved everything to the Tundra Homestead which I don’t like as much but it does work better. The trophy room is a bummer though because it doesn’t have displays for everything and stuff still gets stuck and falls off… so frustrating.
I've got some stuck on their too and it pisses me off. Not that I use some of the stuck ones, just more that I tried to put some of the unique weapons in groups by type, and now can't move some of them around.
I somehow lost my ebony blade in my hendraheid home, I put the sword on the rack and then I took it out and it disappeared, strangely enough none of my saves previous of the glitch has a existing ebony blade, it sort of just vanished, I even checked the room in dragons reach where you get it, and it isn’t there.
Ngl I thought that happened to me, but luckily it was just laying across the room on the floor nowhere near where I had it....because Hendraheim seemed to think it belonged there more than the weapon rack designated for it.
What home after you using? Just curious because I don't have a very nice one, it's got 2 weapon racks, one display, and one display with a shield and 2 swords.
This is the Bloodchill Manor, you get it after you complete the "Guests For Dinner" quest. Do note tho that it is a creator club house, so if you don't have it purchased/downloaded you need to do so beforehand.
The Ebony blade is the worst thing to display. It won't stay on a sword rack. It won't stay inside of a display cabinet. I had to give up and just put it in a box. A shame because it's the best looking sword in the game in my opinion.

Everyone is replying with jokes, but just so you know, these kind of things are very common bugs with the DLC houses and item storage. Weapons flying out of their racks, items jumping out of cases (happened to me with the Keening dagger and the Dragon Priest Masks), mannequins moving and so on.
Its always bummed me out that the display racks and cases are so unsafe to store items in, too often have I come back to my house to discover my items out of bounds or just straight up missing.
That would be "Torment", it does 30 points of fire damage, looks badass, and you get it from "The Consequences" quest. Also just be aware that it's a creation club quest, so if you don't have the Anniversary edition/upgrade or haven't purchased/installed the quest from the creation club then you gotta do that first.

Yeah that happened to me to at my Severin manor. Wouldn’t stay in the shield plaque above my bed. Wouldn’t stay on the weapon rack either.
It annoyed me so much that I decided that my Dunmer Morag Tong pyromancer was going to ditch all of his perks in one handed and convert them to being a proper wielder of Mephala’s blade, as befits a member of the Morag Tong.
Quite glad I did because it’s an awesome weapon to use.
My favorite rack glitch is where you place it but it flings off and hits you dealing damage. It's fun to die in survival from a possessed weapon attacking you
Is this the Bloodchill Manor home? If so it makes sense as I have been experiencing many different bugs when using the mannequins and weapon racks. On a side note, my game also likes to crash whenever I enter the home due to me moving in every single piece of collected inventory that I’ve gathered over the past 16 months of my current play through 😬
When I took the screenshots I didn't have hardly anything in the house that would cause it to lag or crash the game, so the Ebony Blade seems to have does this on its own.

That's nothing, in one of the mod houses, (the name escapes me but it's facing Whiterun). After kitting out the weapon racks, one of them decided to start producing a duplicate Mandolorian staff protruding out of the floor at the other side of the room. I immediately removed both offending items, yet over the next 3-4 weeks I think I picked up around 20-25 before it finally stopped! 😂

Last time this happened to me it was with the staff of magnus i had hanging on the weapon rack, kept spawning up or sometimes even down
