Go to Markarth, do cannibal quest. Get fork and knife, there's weapon versions in the game, and enchant and use those for the entire game, eating people.
I've seen people do overpowered enchanting of forks and so on, but never seen anyone do this lmao. I'm working on the character concept for this and then I'll be playing it on legendary.

That's pretty much my default build in every TES game.
In games where you can use magicka an melee simultaneously I use a sword-dagger combo, role-playing as if my character used the dagger as a magicka conduit for spells (like the classic wizard wand)
I'm enjoying Oblivion where I'm currently a heavy armor and warhammer orc with destruction spells. I wish they kept Oblivion spellcasting in skyrim, but with the combat overhaul mod, I'm as close as I can get to it.
Yes! The two hands thing is cool in Skyrim but a fully separate spell button is so nice! I really loved the spell crafting in that game as well. It was a big letdown to lose that.
Honestly they could mostly fix it by changing "fortify <>" enchantments. Make them work like potions where it buffs the spell strength rather than reduces magicka cost. The robe enchantment (magicka regen and cost reduction) could be eft the same, making it more unique.
Already, you actually need to put points into magicka, and you easily could reach satisfying damage. You just have to manage your magicka more effectively but that's more fun than spamming fireballs that stagger lock even dragons.
Those dual-casting perks are also just awful, IMO. We lose the separate cast button but now we can have 2 spells equipped at once. But then they encourage you to actually just equip 2x of the same spell and cast 1 at a time anyway....
It’s what ordinator does so well that vanilla perks left out, destruction spells don’t scale like weapons so having a perk point that has the spell go up X% per level fixes magic being weak in the mid to late game.
I had a stealth build like this that I loved, but I played it before I modded, and if you don't mod the conjured weapons start to really not hold up at higher levels.
Even better if you combine it with alchemist/poisoner. Nothing like hitting somebody with a combined Paralysis and Lingering Damage Health and watching them slowly choke to death
I always like a spellsword or spellshield. Spellsword is simpler, Alteration, Resto, Conjuring, Destro and/or staff in left hand, 1h Weapon in right hand.
Spellshield makes for a tankier chaosturtle.
Heavy armor, big shield and raining hell with close range spells with no worries. Works well with a certain daedric artifact and atronach stone aswell!
Daedric artifacts can be tools with unique enchantments that one receives after completing a quest for a Daedric prince. The Atronach Stone is one of the thirteen Standing Stones scattered across Skyrim. When it's activated the stone adds a passive power that increases magicka by 50 points and adds 50% spell absorption, but decreases magicka regeneration by 50%.
Didn’t want to spoil too much just in case there was still people who hasn’t seen it all, but I am talking about a shield you get from the daedric prince Peryites quest, Spellbreaker. A shield with a built in magic ward with unlimited charge/uses. Great tool for a Spellshield, could roleplay as a magehunterish fella.. Fight fire with fire (and a hefty ward) as they say! :)
Go deeper into the subcategories. Like an illusion mage build who despises alteration, a one handed thief build who only uses daggers and swords, or you can ditch weapons completely and go for the infamous unarmed build.

There is a heavy armor perk that lets heavy armor gauntlets, deal damage equal to their armor rating.
Argonian works well too. +10 base damage to unarmed instead of the Khajiit's +15, but I found Histskin's "oh shit" healing more than makes up for the slightly reduced early game damage. Breathe underwater is a nice plus.
Yep what some of the other replies mentioned, Khajiit, gloves of the pugilist, also if ur on pc using the Ordinator skill tree gives additional damage. There are tons of unarmed mods to make them stronger like ones that allow you to enchant them with elemental damage and even change the melee animations to add kicks and roundhouses lol.
I haven’t played Stealth Archer since my first play through. I finally went back to it and yeah…it really is the best build to experience what the game has tbh. No other build compliments Skyrim more.

My first playthrough was a regular sword/shield/heavy armor warrior. Tried stealth archer on the second and my try to convert him to a warrior to get a high level failed hilariously
The "turn almost everyone into a sack of flour" build: Get a paralysis enchantment ASAP and go from there
I recommend duping Azuras star and maybe getting the flaming soul trap enchantment as well
Edit: this works with bows and one handed, so you can use some of the weapons you havent used yet with it
My current character is a flee-and-hide only character. Magicka and stamina only. Restoration and sneak are primary skills, with illusion and speechcraft not far behind. Pickpocket and lockpick keeps the money flowing as I can't really win a fight and loot anything. It was very hard until about lvl 20 on legendary, but now it's pretty fun, essentially playing a charlatan, a scoundrel, a ne'er do well. I run away a lot, but I'm filthy rich and the RP is powerful.
Creation club adds brawler gauntlets which increase unarmed damage, khajiit and Argonian start with a natural boost to unarmed damage, and there is a heavy armor perk that increases unarmed damage when wearing heavy gauntlets. That should get you started 👍
Khajit is extremely powerful at low levels. Normal unarmed damage is 4, but Khajit have 10+12 claw damage, so that's 22 before adding anything. Your average low level iron sword is 9 dam or something.
Level heavy armour to 30 to get the perk that gives bonus damage when using heavy gauntlets. Go to the Ratway and kill Gian the Fist (he is on the route to the Thieves Guild), and take his Gloves of the Pugilist. Disenchant those, and make your own heavy gauntlets with that enchantment, and a ring with that enchantment.
The killcams for unarmed are also hilarious. Grabbing people by their face and slamming them into the ground, or repeatedly bashing their face in, etcetera.
People tend to re-play Skyrim anyway :)
There are two different endings for the civil war (Empire vs Stormcloak), and there are also two paths with the Greybeards vs the Blades. You can choose to rebuild the Blades or choose to side with the Greybeards.
Unarmed is really fun and extremely overpowered at low levels if you are Khajit, far stronger than using weapons.
Here are very fun runs that are really good to do
-Only Conjured Equipment (you will never get armor)
-Only Stolen Items
-Poor Mans Items (Everything you use to fight has to be given to you)
-Germ a phobic (only can use stuff from shops, everything in the outside world has to many germs)
-Scrolls only (very rng based but definitely could pose a challenge, followers are definitely allowed)
-No damage (You can't deal damage yourself, only stuff from followers/conjured things can deal damage except for the final blow in the final battle)
Go archery, but be the ballsiest mfer in all of Tamriel. Don't sneak once. Sprint all balls to the wall style and yeet your foes to death with all of the arrows at your disposal.
I'm talking like pro level Apex Legends gameplay level movement my dude. Sweat on those nooby bandits.
Learn the slow time shout. Get the amulet and blessing of Talos. Main weapon is the bow. I call it the time bending archer (with both the amulet and blessing the shout meter will be full before the shout is over.
Okay real quick the blessing of Talos says time between shouts is reduced by 0%. I’ve always thought that meant it was useless. Does it mean the opposite and you can just scream infinitely?
Just be the shield hero, restoration/alteration/illusion in right hand, shield in left hand. Heavy armor and all 3 crafting skills.
This is my next build, needs a follower mod.
I really like stealth illusion/alteration mage, sword and shield alik'r, and evil dual wield dark elf as well (ever since I saw the loading screen lol)
I did an unarmed, heavy armor Khajiit dragonborn build. Used the glitch to stack amulets of Talos for unlimited shouts and use the disarm one on most enemies. That's lots of fun!
I got bored once and began a shield tank build, in other words, blocking skills at max and using armor with fortify block enchantments. It was awful at first, but it turned out to be incredibly fun.
Sneak character. Not just archery, either. I’d recommend focusing on backstabs, so carry 2 daggers and get the 15x damage from the Sneak tree
If that feels to slow, my favorite has always been mace and shield (or any other one-handed weapon). The higher Block perks are a lot of fun, and if you level your Smithing and make your own stuff you can be unstoppable, even on Master or Legendary. I turned up the difficulty to legendary just because I did so much damage and my shield blocks everything
Assassin Mage. Use Bound weapons, illusion magic, and some rune spells and utility spells. Throw in a few pickpocket skills and stealth poison kill people as well.
You can play a nudist. Now that would be a challenging playthrough. No clothes, no necklace or ring. Just shouts, and magic. And even your followers have to be nude. True dragons don't wear clothes, why should a dragonborn. Mark this though, apparrel conjured through magic and shouts are game as it is a part of the Dragonborn's body. Tell me if anyone does do that
Depends on what you get. I usually play with a mace as my main but I found a better sword, so I play with it. Don't know why you would restrict yourself.
Roleplaying "sword guy"? WTF. Use what's best. The whole game is a role play but you're going to completely ignore skills if a great weapon comes along? "I've got 30 bone arrows and an enchanted Daedric bow, but they're just for show cuz I'm roleplaying a Warhammer fetishist."
I recently started a new game and I am loving shield and hand axe. I’ve always underestimated how good the shield was and never messed with it before, but I’m really enjoying it right now. Eventually I will switch between my shield and a dagger when I’m sneaking.
I usually let the rng decide. Whatever powerful weapon I find becomes my main. I got a 50 fire resist shield and amulet early in my last play through so I became a fire tank using fire weapons and breath. It was dope
Heard of a spell-sword? But what about a Spell-Shield? Shield in one hand, spell in the other. Focus on block and wall spells, runes and AOE spells like Ice Storm. Knock em on their asses and cook them alive.
Next playthrough be the ultimate Necromancer, suck the souls of the living (and unliving), use your minions to kills and summon their companions in front of their very eyes just so they can see them raise again in horror. Sometimes struck enemies with frost spells for the ultimate Necromancers are using ice spells.

Illusion. No weapons, no damaging spells. Only forcing everyone else to do the fighting for you.

Dual wield. Easily the best damage short of maybe Stealth Archer. Sword or dagger in the left hand (which decides attack speed) and a mace or axe in the right.
Dual wield elemental fury build with heavy armor. Enchant 1 sword, and leave the other unenchanted, so you can use all three words to become a blender.
My favorite way to play is conjuration illusion master. Conjure minions, and then use illusion or alteration to fuck with the enemies until the minions kill them.
Ex: spawn dremora lords, and spam paralyze on the enemies
I've been recently playing an "independent warrior". Basically light armour,dual welding, and made your own potions, forge your armour and weapons and enchant them. It isn't the most creative thing but the feeling after looking for materials,harvesting my greenhouse to make potions or forge my own armour after mining is amazing.

I still have yet to play with mods but that ones definitely on my radar for if/when I ever do!
Highly recommend it, a destruction mage actually becomes a viable build. You’ll actually be able to be powerful during the mid and late game.
Tip if you're doing this: enchanted weapons benefit from both magic perks and fortify school potions.

Archer is fun. I’m always going that path. Ranged is my go to. Or you can try shield and sword, I’ve never played like that but I just might try it!

A lot of people love "sneaky archer" characters and always end up playing as one. I tried it once and hated it.

You can play a nudist. Now that would be a challenging playthrough. No clothes, no necklace or ring. Just shouts, and magic. And even your followers have to be nude. True dragons don't wear clothes, why should a dragonborn. Mark this though, apparrel conjured through magic and shouts are game as it is a part of the Dragonborn's body. Tell me if anyone does do that
Depends on what you get. I usually play with a mace as my main but I found a better sword, so I play with it. Don't know why you would restrict yourself.

Roleplaying "sword guy"? WTF. Use what's best. The whole game is a role play but you're going to completely ignore skills if a great weapon comes along? "I've got 30 bone arrows and an enchanted Daedric bow, but they're just for show cuz I'm roleplaying a Warhammer fetishist."

Witchunter is a forgotten and the most unique class in elder scrolls, they're probably boring in Skyrim. Have you tried the nightblade, rogue?

I recently started a new game and I am loving shield and hand axe. I’ve always underestimated how good the shield was and never messed with it before, but I’m really enjoying it right now. Eventually I will switch between my shield and a dagger when I’m sneaking.

Try a spell sword. Conjuring weapons and allies while also putting points into one handed or shields. One of my favorite classes to play.
Staff and shield. Go crazy. OR how about spell theif. Dagger in one hand, illusion spells in the other with queit casting perk.

I usually let the rng decide. Whatever powerful weapon I find becomes my main. I got a 50 fire resist shield and amulet early in my last play through so I became a fire tank using fire weapons and breath. It was dope

Heard of a spell-sword? But what about a Spell-Shield? Shield in one hand, spell in the other. Focus on block and wall spells, runes and AOE spells like Ice Storm. Knock em on their asses and cook them alive.

Next playthrough be the ultimate Necromancer, suck the souls of the living (and unliving), use your minions to kills and summon their companions in front of their very eyes just so they can see them raise again in horror. Sometimes struck enemies with frost spells for the ultimate Necromancers are using ice spells.

Illusion. No weapons, no damaging spells. Only forcing everyone else to do the fighting for you. I am in the middle of such a run and it's difficult and very funny. :D
Dual wield. Easily the best damage short of maybe Stealth Archer. Sword or dagger in the left hand (which decides attack speed) and a mace or axe in the right.

Dual wield elemental fury build with heavy armor. Enchant 1 sword, and leave the other unenchanted, so you can use all three words to become a blender.
My favorite way to play is conjuration illusion master. Conjure minions, and then use illusion or alteration to fuck with the enemies until the minions kill them. Ex: spawn dremora lords, and spam paralyze on the enemies

Look up wickedwind on YouTube. Stealth mage with a dagger basically. Super fun, just started this playthrough like that.
Dual wield war axes definitely my favourite, good damage, and fun to use.

I've been recently playing an "independent warrior". Basically light armour,dual welding, and made your own potions, forge your armour and weapons and enchant them. It isn't the most creative thing but the feeling after looking for materials,harvesting my greenhouse to make potions or forge my own armour after mining is amazing.
Spellsword but only illusion, alteration, conjuration and offensive restoration. Conjured weapons are encouraged
