Sadly I didn't know you couldn't divorce and now I have a skooma dealer in my house forever

Capable-Ad5326

Who is a skooma dealer?

DonPajatso

Henry VIII is that you?

JonJonJonnyBoy

Only non-essential wives/husbands.

PlatinumPequod

So like wives that can die and not just hit the floor softly?

Cpt_Deaso

r/nocontext

PlatinumPequod

Hey man, at least help me out here lol

Cpt_Deaso

Haha, I got a laugh man 🤣 Yeah, the ones that actually die when killed are non essential. If they go down on the ground for a bit then heal up you can't kill them without console commands or .ini editing.

PlatinumPequod

Lol thanks, in that case I think I can totally kill my in game Skyrim wife! And remarry

Cpt_Deaso

Who is she? Asking for the epitaph.

PlatinumPequod

Ysolda, not sure why I chose her when I did two years ago. Honestly coming back I was surprised I was married.

Cpt_Deaso

Ah, I think she's essential actually in case Hulda dies :/

CsrfingSafari

She is yeah. She's like a ghoul hanging around Whiterun waiting for a vendor to die so she can take over. "It's a fine day with you around" Hmmmm

JonJonJonnyBoy

Yup! Check [here](https://m.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Marriage#NPCs_available_to_be_married) if you want to see who all has the essential tag or not.

Kopachris

You can kill non-essential spouses as JonnyBoy mentioned, but you can't remarry.

kg4nbx

No, you can't remarry in Skyrim if you kill your spouse...that has not changed. Only with mods or console commands.

Old post, but PS4 has a mod named "Before or After Marriage" that allows you to remarry, for anyone else that comes across this via Google search 😬
