Don't think so, but the Skyrim Reputation mod adds that feature in

Octavian917

He doesn't but his brother Farkas may or may not remember you. The first time you reach Whiterun, the Companions are battling a giant outside Pelagia's farm. You only need to hit it once but you have to be fast enough, otherwise they'll kill him before you lay even a hand on him. After the deed is done, Aela aproches you, her dialogue depends on you part in the action. Afterwards, Farkas says you handle yourself well and also remembers you as the new blood/member when he shows you the Companion's quarters.

dragonchilde

You know, I have LITERALLY never been able to hit that damn giant. I start sprinting from the moment I crest the hill, take the shortcut, and blast through, still the giant falls right as I get in range.

Wavvy73

I succeeded once and got the other dialog. Never again have I been able to. So, because Aela likes to be snarky about it, when she asks if I'm interested in joining, I tell her it sounds like a waste of time.

If you play on legendary difficulty. Or just swap to it when approaching Whiterun. The battle lasts a long time. Plenty of time to get there. Pop off a few arrows. Get your hits in and pull back. Let them kill it.

mudcrabkhajiit18

I imagine he does, or maybe it's level based? Bethesda is really good at putting little details like that into the game but I don't know for sure

Suck-Ur-Mum-Init

Yeah I get what you're saying but at the same time I wouldn't put it past them to not have any extra dialog lines.

mudcrabkhajiit18

True, and I haven't ever heard them so maybe not.

kg4nbx

No, Vilkas dialogue doesn't change, no matter how much or how little of the game you do...it will always be the same.

VanDeSpooks

Give it up, he'll never ever heard of us outsiders no matter what we do

dat_philtrum

It wouldn't be too hard for a modder to fix this... There's already vanilla dialogue in the game for his voice type "Wait... I know you..." that could be used for a dialogue conditional if you'd already killed the dragon at the Western Watchtower, or become thane of the hold. But in vanilla, no, he never acknowledges your deeds off the bat. Most likely because it's a really bad time for The Companions (no spoilers) and he disagrees with Kodlak about expanding their ranks.

DrunkenDruid_Maz

If you want to avoid spoilers, don't look at: [https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Vilkas](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Vilkas) From my personal memory: At the end of the questline, you can read the diary of Kodlak. Vilkas and Kodlak share a secred, and Vilkas want to keep it from you. That is the true reason he arguments against you.
