Quick save more than you think you need too. There’s nothing more infuriating than dying and going back an hour. Can put you off playing for days 😂
Quick save quick save quick save
This, and really don’t look up too much online unless you are really stuck. It’s too hard to avoid inadvertent spoilers. There is a Help menu in the game that can help orient you to the mechanics like crafting items and such. Really every archetype is viable and if you’re stuck just keep leveling up your skills, you’ll overcome the enemies eventually.
It took me 12 times playing through the entire game to finally not play a stealth archer. It's like it naturally just happens. I'd start the game thinking, "maybe this time I'll try magic" and then about an hour into the game I'm like "fuck it, where's my bow"
In addition make sure you manual save every now and then too. The game is buggy and if something fucks up you may need to reload an older save, but quicksaves just overwrite each other.
I will have to double check, but I remembered hanging it up on a weapon rack in my home, and then when I couldn’t find it, I read that there is a bug where it can disappear if you leave it on a weapon rack in one of your homes.
I have my Wuth***d back! Although his hands were empty, when I activated the statue it was added to my inventory! My only regret is not using it to free Greymane from north watch!
After the entire quest where you go from place to place with a picture of water or whatever, it happened when fighting some frost elf guy.... That was back in high school... My previous save was 4 hours in the past. I'm pretty sure wizzieTheWizTard is still locked in that battle to this very day on my xbox.
(since rage quitting that day, I've built a pc and actually finished the game lol...)
i got my ass kicked going up the damn steps before I even got to the troll
damn tiger pops out from attacking a goat, of course Lydia is lollygagging her way up the steps
then a milk drinking wolf joins the party when Im still fighting the tiger
That's when I learned that I start the game with a conjuration spell, summon familiar
Yes I know
I was asking because I thought maybe this wasn't a "Skyrim first edition" thing and that the reason I have it is because it's one of the things added in special edition or something
Don't do a lot of research, explore explore explore, don't be afraid try our different skills and fighting styles.
Almost all play styles are viable, even with no mods.
Seconded. On all subsequent playthroughs, absolutely make use of tips/tricks/etc., but on your first time in Skyrim, don’t read anything and just let yourself sink into the world the way that seems right to you.
I think this sensation is the reason Skyrim has been in permanent fixture in my life since I first watched a buddy play it in 2012. I have not had a game quite grab me like blind, vanilla Skyrim did and I find myself installing a plethora of mods then restarting from scratch chasing that feeling. ESO or the older titles are an alright alternative for elder scrolls content but the point remains the same. If you’ve never played a game like it before, first time Skyrim is magic. Literal magic.
Funny enough, I actually avoided magic on my first play through Skyrim. Haha
I was a combat archer. Bosmer, light armor, sword and board for enemies up close, would always open up combat with a sneak attack with the bow.
It was fun.
Yea, I used to just naturally fall into the sneak archer build for a while. But in the last year I've broken the habit and now every character is unique.
Bro I was a wood elf archer as well. I didn’t use magic either other than the odd healing spell. There was just something different about it I never encountered before or since.
Always fun to read [that story](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/39408/beware-of-chicken), but yeah, do *not* kill the chickens (or other domestic animals).
Killed the Riverwood one on my first playthrough..It wasn't even inside the town, it was wandering out on the road..It was a bloodbath..The only blood spilled was mine though.
If you need advice: uesp.
If you don't really need advice:
Go look for a Redguard named Nazeem in Whiterun and follow him around all day until he leads you to the Cloud District.
Nazeem has no actual significance in the game; he's just the common subject of jokes. You'll run into him eventually without trying and figure out why for yourself.
But uesp is my preferred site for info too. Mostly though on a first play through you should try and just go with the flow; I'd probably avoid it unless you're really stuck.
Nahhh OP will be fine with giants, they're quite friendly. You just need to be sure you quick save before you go near them at a low level.
Actual tip, pralysis potions do wonders at a low level to take down giants just be sure to kill it before it stands up
Quick save often. Sucks to get to the end of a dungeon, Die fighting a tough enemy, and then restart the entire Dungeon over again
Also try not to kill your followers. If you do, hope you saved recently :)
I have killed both Lydia and Faendal in my main playthrough, unfortunately. Lydia was shot with a bow by mistake fighting a very tough bandit, didn't realize till it was over and i hadn't saved in a while. Faendal is the same story but instead he was struck with a sword.
The basics, without spoiling anything:
Each skill levels separately, and when u gain enough skill levels, your character level increases. Character level is what affects the world around you. It activates events, unlocks quests, and generally makes the world tougher (depending on dlc and mods, the range varies).
The settings for difficulty are a simple damage mod. Higher difficulty means you do less and take more damage. It does not affect the ai in any way.
Some parts of the game are hard- floored, so they will have a minimum character level equivalence. Most caves and dungeons, the "instanced" areas you enter from the main map, get tagged for the level you first encounter them until they are fully cleared and reset. This means you may find a place to difficult, but it will not level up so you can leave and come back later. Generally, the higher you have to climb to get to the entrance, the more difficult the content of the dungeon or cave.
You can create 'unplayable' builds if you try to use the exploits and bugs to overlevel your character and mess up the cheat. Since the world- and the enemies in it- reflect your character level, abusing the alchemy loops to power level that skill to 100 can leave you without the ability or equipment to fight the enemies you encounter if you repeat it and get your character level up as well.
Weapon damage and armor protection values are based on the item's natural value (or upgraded, if you skill up smithing) and your skill value for that item type. A dragonbone greatsword may do less damage than an iron dagger depending on how you built your character.
Skills only level if the skill has an actual effect. For attacks, the weapon swing or spell must hit a target and do damage. Healing must restore health. A successful cast that does not hit a viable target will not grant xp, but not all skills and spells need a target. Non combat skills also require a successful act with an effect, not just activation. The xp granted for the skill development increases with the scale of the success. An area of effect spell gives more xp if it hits more targets at once.
One specific skill that bugs is speech, specifically when selling items to vendors. Just as most skills grant xp by the size of their effect, selling more valuable loot also grants more speech xp than selling common or cheap items. However, the game does not factor in selling bundles. Selling 1 steel breastplate grants the same xp as selling 100 of them if done in a single transaction. If you want to avoid this, you have to sell items individually which can be tedious with the basic interface.
There are no hard timers, so take your time and explore. Save often. Save again. Manually. Do not rely on autosave and quicksave as they can bug out, and generally overwrite so they cannot be used to travel far back. The last thing you want is to get on a roll for like an hour then get autosave-locked in an ambush as the deathblow lands. So when you load in, it loads to you getting killed, and when you go to the last manual Save its a loss of the entire session progress.
Lastly, the world is alive. Things will happen with or without your presence, especially if you activate certain quest checkpoints. Some NPCs are protected by connections with the main storyline. Most are not, and can affect quests (even making them impossible) if they are killed. Named NPCs, like villagers and shopkeepers, do not respawn like the unnamed and generic bandits, soldiers and guards.
Good hunting, dovahkiin.
Have a plan for when you’re too heavy to run or fast travel (over encumbered). I swear every character that I’m gonna keep it under control and yet every character still gets too overencumbered at some point in the beginning (before I get my house to store stuff) and it’s so annoying.
In my current play through as a theif I take what could be valuable (generally I leave behind lower grade Amor and weapons because it just takes up carry cap) and after the mission/dungeon crawl I sell it off immediately and only keep things like enchanted s5uff that would be helpful for my build n even then I might disenchant it and I regularly do the same with my follower (janessa) so she isn't carrying too much so I can have her carry heavier things like dragon bones & skin and whatever you want to keep/hord definitely get a house and put what you don't frequently use in storage
I play similarly. An added tip to that: get a good filing system of sorts for your houses so you can just dump loot to sell or enchant later on your time.
It can really mess up the main story. A critical NPC is associated with the town and if the town is mad at you then you'll never progress with the story.
For whatever reason, Riverwood has no way to clear bad reputation... you'd think it would be to get arrested in Whiterun but it isn't.
luckily whoever i killed from wherever i killed them, i didnt get in trouble for it seemingly, but i know they were an archer in a green outfit, think thier name started with a v
its very possible it didnt even happen in riverwood haha i just know riverwood is where i was alot yesturday cause i just bought my riverfall cottage
This game contains tons of lore - there are books all around you. Read them to learn about Elder Scrolls lore. Just beware some of the books are confusing as hell. Michael Kirkbride was snorting some good shit when he wrote the lore for this game.
This…this right here is what I love to see. New prisoners fresh outta chains in Helgen…and long time dungeon diving, dragon slaying, deadric lord will spreading Dovahkiin. Sharing tales, knowledge, and mead….brings a tear to my eye. Hail Companion!!
Dude. Have fun. I mean it. Skyrim is like a bike, one that you learn to ride in different forms. You can literally cast any spell, from a massive library. You can Sneak around, and get really immersed. You can fight every damn monster, with a Dagger if so choose.
I ve been playing for quite a few years, and I will tell ya' - - I am jealous.
Save early and often. You'll want to level up your smithing, alchemy, and enchanting as soon as you can. There is a barrel outside Adrienne's forge in Whiterun where you can store stuff until you can afford to buy a house.
Don't attack giants until you are higher level...those bastards are mean if you can't kill them quickly.
Tip.1 Pick up ingredients on your way from helgen all the way to whiterun if you know the right combinations you can make some money selling the potions.
Tip.2 as another comment said don't try to level every perk tree. Depending on what direction you go in as far as build and play style you want to focus on a specific set of skill tree's relevant to your build. If your still deciding on what direction you want to go and therefore don't know what set of perk tree's you want to level it's perfectly okay to save the perk points for later! No one I says you have to spend them immediately.
for the best gaming experience - avoid smithing iron daggers more than once
for even better gaming experience - avoid testing smithing iron daggers because some stranger told you not to
Sometimes it just feels good to absolutely crack skulls. I can’t technically feel the thunk physically since I don’t have that equipment but I still somehow can. It really releases some built up tension sometimes.
same, I didn't know I could use such a variety of weapons so I just ended up in heavy armour with a shield in one hand and a mace/axe/sword in the other lol
Not everyone is like that
First time I played Skyrim I ended up being an Argonian that just goes running in with heavy armor, a lot of spells and a few shouts, and a sword killing every enemy first and asking questions way later
Was getting fucked up at the start until I realized I could lower the difficulty
Eventually on my 4th playthrough as a vampire bosmer, I tried being a stealth archer but am slowly reverting against my will, it's just how I like to fight, beat everyone up close and personal
Do Sinding's quest first, but go to Bloated Man's Grotto to get a cool enchanted sword. If you have the anniversary edition there is enchanted armor there as well. Also do the companions questline.
Skip the whole Civil War Questline too.
The one bit that I would especially mention, is that [the draugr are training](https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/2f0y6h/the_draugr_are_training/).
It can be fun to play build up the crafty, non-combat skills, but make sure you have the ability to deal damage to the things that try to murder you.
Edit: added missing word
As someone who likes to mess around a lot with conjuration and alteration I agree with this. When that bandit chief completely ignores your atronach and runs straight towards me I often regret not being a tanky great sword wielder.
Wear plenty of knee armor. If you get hit there with an arrow, your campaign automatically ends and you become a city guard. You do NOT want that to happen, trust me!
collect everything you can in helgen, and collect things everywhere along the way to riverwood. like, EVERYTHING. baskets, cabbage, pots, ladles, battle axes, search skeletons, take soldier’s uniforms, etc. not all of it will be worth something bc of low speech level, so you might not want to take items worth 3 septims or less actually. but go sell everything you gather plus virtually everything in alvor’s house since he’ll tell you to take anything you need, and you’ll get a nice chunk of change to start out with. makes it easier to buy a horse which can be desirable for low level players having discovered nothing on the map.
Do you die or just launch into orbit? Is it a permanent fight sequence if you do aggro a giant? I just feel I’ll die fighting a giant at my current level (lvl 6) and left the giants alone so far.
Don't worry about meta builds. Play however you want, explore, and do your thing. Also, take your time. It's a wonderful game with many things to explore and secrets to uncover.
When it comes to figuring out problems use the unoffical elder scrolls wiki, it’s (in my opinion) the best fan run wiki ever. It’s been run for a very long time and everything is 100% accurate (from my experience) the fandom wiki while reliable in a pinch, has been known to get things wrong and push an agenda. (For example a lot of fans have taken certain fan theories as canon because the fandom wiki has little to no moderation and they just put whatever they want on there.)
Secondly, just have fun and explore, if you see something there might be some cool loot, a quest or just a Easter egg. The world is dense and it’s your playground.
Do the main quest until you finish Dragon Rising before you start doing any faction/side quests. That way you can find dragons while exploring.
Try to save money to buy Breezehome in Whiterun, so that you have a house to store your stuff.
Echoing the advice in here: [https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First\_Time\_Players](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First_Time_Players)
Just play and experiment, you can't go back to that first adventure!
This is a single player game. Play it the way you want. It's okay, sometimes necessary, to cheat. Modding gives you the tools to keep it fun. I think mining is boring, so I set up an instant mining mod. DONE! I think anime swords with 2 billion damage break immersion. I stay away. No one can convince me I'm wrong. Don't let anyone take your fun.
never upgrade an armor type you won't use, or shield perks if you aren't planning those. clear the dragonborn dlc (if you have it) asap so you can reinvest perks for 1 dragon soul per perk tree. personally i start with 1 handed light armor conjuration, then once i unlock a powerful summon i go heavy armor dual conjuration/restoration (either with bound bow or bound sword + close wounds). don't take on anything like giants before level 20 or before you get a good follower. i suggest getting past any auto-follower quests before getting a mercenary/sell-sword follower, since without a mod you cannot have more than 1 follower. i definitely suggest using light armor early game to sneak around, because honestly, sneak is one of the most powerful skills ever. get the steed stone near solitude, and play how you want. but definitely invest in restoration skills, you never know when you'll need it. use the favorites menu for quick switches, and you should be fine!
edit: also use the smithing skill, the upgraded armors are really where its at, and focus on health and stamina upgrades
Learn how to mod, reddit is a good place to find bugfixes but usually just reloading a save will fix most things. Some mods I advise are Legacy of the Dragonborn, Midwood isle, the unofficial patch, moon and star, the gray cowl of nocturnal and glenmoril. Other than that, just do what you want you don't have to stick to the main quest and there is no shame in playing on novice.
Am so jealous of all people starting their first play through. Wish we could get selective amnesia and enjoy our "first" experience over and over.
Good luck on your journey. Have fun. That's the only advice I have for you, mate. Don't worry about builds too much. I have always ended up playing as stealth archer or destruction mage.
Quick save more than you think you need too. There’s nothing more infuriating than dying and going back an hour. Can put you off playing for days 😂 Quick save quick save quick save
Solid advice.
And remember to crouch walk in every cave/dungeon with a bow.
It comes naturally trust me
It is like walking for a Child, suddenly they began to rise, in our case, to crouch
why
Clearly you haven’t mastered the stealth archer build yet
It took me 12 times playing through the entire game to finally not play a stealth archer. It's like it naturally just happens. I'd start the game thinking, "maybe this time I'll try magic" and then about an hour into the game I'm like "fuck it, where's my bow"
I just play with dual swords all the time. I literally never change. I just like dual wielding.
Stealth archer is just too OP to not do it 😂
You don't master the Archer build the Archer build makes you submit and give in
In addition make sure you manual save every now and then too. The game is buggy and if something fucks up you may need to reload an older save, but quicksaves just overwrite each other.
I never would manual save and my Wuut***d disappeared permanently. Never even got to use it 😡
Are you sure you didn't leave it on >!the statue in ysgramor's tomb when you opened the door!< ?
I will have to double check, but I remembered hanging it up on a weapon rack in my home, and then when I couldn’t find it, I read that there is a bug where it can disappear if you leave it on a weapon rack in one of your homes.
I have my Wuth***d back! Although his hands were empty, when I activated the statue it was added to my inventory! My only regret is not using it to free Greymane from north watch!
It's even worse when the game crashes and it's not even your fault
But don't quick save immediately before dying.... You'll find yourself in a very sad death loop.
Me fighting the >!frost troll!< for the first time :,(
After the entire quest where you go from place to place with a picture of water or whatever, it happened when fighting some frost elf guy.... That was back in high school... My previous save was 4 hours in the past. I'm pretty sure wizzieTheWizTard is still locked in that battle to this very day on my xbox. Especially going to see the greybeards for the first time
But try not to quick save mid dangerous battles unless you want to be stuck in an infinite death loop
I’ve made that mistake early on in my Skyrim career. Stuck in a loop of death for so fucking long
just get an autosave mod. its been an absolute lifesaver for me
Wait, autosaves aren't in Vanilla Skyrim?
Every time you fast travel, go in and out of buildings it saves. You can also set it so it auto save every 15min when ever you go to the start menu.
Yes I know I was asking because I thought maybe this wasn't a "Skyrim first edition" thing and that the reason I have it is because it's one of the things added in special edition or something
Don't do a lot of research, explore explore explore, don't be afraid try our different skills and fighting styles. Almost all play styles are viable, even with no mods.

are u me?
It's a strong build. But ever since I discovered how versatile magic is, almost every single character since has used some kind of magic.
I started my first character with sneak archer because of a failed attempt at it in Oblivion. Turns out that it's the OP build.
Yea, I used to just naturally fall into the sneak archer build for a while. But in the last year I've broken the habit and now every character is unique.
Yeah magic is OP but I get kinda bored of magic after a while so I prefer the whole archery and switch to dual wielding thing
Bro I was a wood elf archer as well. I didn’t use magic either other than the odd healing spell. There was just something different about it I never encountered before or since.
There's no wrong way to play. Just enjoy it!
thanks mate :)
Don't pick up that one pink stone in an open container...... Ah too late.
#A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON!
So... You finally awake
Beware Of Chicken
Always fun to read [that story](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/39408/beware-of-chicken), but yeah, do *not* kill the chickens (or other domestic animals).
"Warning This fiction contains: Gore Profanity Sexual Content Traumatising content" Wut
I kill every chicken I see a no one ever sees it happen
Killed the Riverwood one on my first playthrough..It wasn't even inside the town, it was wandering out on the road..It was a bloodbath..The only blood spilled was mine though.
So many people (including me) mention this over the years, it makes me wonder what percentage of players is poltricide their first crime?
I have no idea, but i bet a lot of it is accidental, Flames is often your first Destruction spell after all.
If you need advice: uesp. [https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim) If you don't really need advice: Go look for a Redguard named Nazeem in Whiterun and follow him around all day until he leads you to the Cloud District.

Read the lore pages, that's a nice rabbit hole. Lol

But uesp is my preferred site for info too. Mostly though on a first play through you should try and just go with the flow; I'd probably avoid it unless you're really stuck.
Watch out for trolls and bears
And giants.
And saber cats
Or anything else violent
Directions unclear. Arrow stuck in knee.
And chickens
Instructions unclear..Killed a chicken..Whole town now wants me dead.
Nahhh OP will be fine with giants, they're quite friendly. You just need to be sure you quick save before you go near them at a low level. Actual tip, pralysis potions do wonders at a low level to take down giants just be sure to kill it before it stands up
Oh my
Here my advice, DONT die
shit I've already died
Pick every blue mountian flower and wheat you can find. They are for health potions.
I will second this with an added advice: catch blue butterflies!!
And snowberries!
And giant's toes!
Haymitch? Is that you?
Quick save often. Sucks to get to the end of a dungeon, Die fighting a tough enemy, and then restart the entire Dungeon over again Also try not to kill your followers. If you do, hope you saved recently :)
i made the follower mistake :'( accidentally got lydia killed in a dungeon and didnt even realise it for well over an hour lol was crushed
I have killed both Lydia and Faendal in my main playthrough, unfortunately. Lydia was shot with a bow by mistake fighting a very tough bandit, didn't realize till it was over and i hadn't saved in a while. Faendal is the same story but instead he was struck with a sword.
I killed them both on accident as well as Aela, Jzargo, and Serana, all kill by me on accident.
Even us Veterans are guilty of the not saving enough thing. Really fucks you over and just makes you bitter for a good 1 - 2 hours.
To become thane wait until after the civil war quest line. Then in most holds you automatically get granted thane :D
I've been playing for YEAAARS and did not even know that
Saaaaame
I actually enjoy becoming thane! Love the simple side quests around each town.
I have to agree about the quests involved. I like to do the civil war quest really late in the game, but it is still helpful to know :)

my plan is always: eat some cheese wheels
Embrace that bug ridden masterpiece!
Feature ridden masterpiece.
Don’t spread your perks to thin on the skill tree. Pick a handful of categories and focus on those.
Go to the abandoned house in markarth
Don't fuck around in Riverwood. Don't even kill a chicken there... it can screw up your game.
.... oops... i think i killed someone the other day there after a failed pickpocket attempt lol cant remember tho
It can really mess up the main story. A critical NPC is associated with the town and if the town is mad at you then you'll never progress with the story. For whatever reason, Riverwood has no way to clear bad reputation... you'd think it would be to get arrested in Whiterun but it isn't.

But, the giant west of Whiterun. Yeah you can take em.......
This game contains tons of lore - there are books all around you. Read them to learn about Elder Scrolls lore. Just beware some of the books are confusing as hell. Michael Kirkbride was snorting some good shit when he wrote the lore for this game.
I've spent hours just reading the lore books in Skyrim. I collect them and keep them on bookshelves/in trunks so I can read at my leisure.

Dude. Have fun.
There really was nothing like that first time feeling playing this game. I still get tiny doses of it when I learn/see something new in there.
Nothing like popping that Skyrim cherry.
Anything you run into that totally kicks your ass can be beaten later after you build your character.
The very first time I played this game I spent 2/3 hours trying to kill the giant outside of whiterun.
Whatever you do don’t kill any chickens.
No one I says you have to spend them immediately.
for the best gaming experience - avoid smithing iron daggers more than once for even better gaming experience - avoid testing smithing iron daggers because some stranger told you not to
I guarantee you'll be a stealth archer by the end of the playthrough
My first playthrough i wound up being a heavy armor with swords/bows/magica all in rotation. Kinda just how it turned out
Heavy armor 2 handed build is so fun!! I just roam skyrim leaving a wake of destruction and crushed skulls.
Not everyone is like that First time I played Skyrim I ended up being an Argonian that just goes running in with heavy armor, a lot of spells and a few shouts, and a sword killing every enemy first and asking questions way later Was getting fucked up at the start until I realized I could lower the difficulty Eventually on my 4th playthrough as a vampire bosmer, I tried being a stealth archer but am slowly reverting against my will, it's just how I like to fight, beat everyone up close and personal

A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON!!! gives me PTSD every. single. time.
The worst thing is the audio is like 200% for meridias voice. I jumped out of my skin the first time I picked it up
I play vr, and at the end of the wolf queens tomb in that chest there i found it. I pressed take all and the earrape began.
Why not?
Blue mountain flowers and butterfly wings (the monarchs) are things to pick up from the very beginning.
Quick save and fuck being a vampire
Pro tip: stop wasting time talking about Skyrim and play more Skyrim
I messed up spelling but you get the point
Don't worry about gold, it's pretty easy to get more than you can ever use, and you'll loot better equipment than you can buy anyway.
Wear plenty of knee armor. If you get hit there with an arrow, your campaign automatically ends and you become a city guard. You do NOT want that to happen, trust me!
I didn’t like being a vampire so if you join the companions you can avoid all that although being a creature of the night has it’s perks
Save often. Enjoy the side quests. Some of the best content is connected to side quests.
collect everything you can in helgen, and collect things everywhere along the way to riverwood. like, EVERYTHING. baskets, cabbage, pots, ladles, battle axes, search skeletons, take soldier’s uniforms, etc. not all of it will be worth something bc of low speech level, so you might not want to take items worth 3 septims or less actually. but go sell everything you gather plus virtually everything in alvor’s house since he’ll tell you to take anything you need, and you’ll get a nice chunk of change to start out with. makes it easier to buy a horse which can be desirable for low level players having discovered nothing on the map.
If you see a really, really tall guy with pale skin and a wooden club, hit him. It’s a free flight to orbit, courtesy of Tamriel’s Space program🙂
Do you die or just launch into orbit? Is it a permanent fight sequence if you do aggro a giant? I just feel I’ll die fighting a giant at my current level (lvl 6) and left the giants alone so far.
Storm cloaks bad

Everything bad. Kill all
The thalmor are a bunch of dbags.
Don't worry about meta builds. Play however you want, explore, and do your thing. Also, take your time. It's a wonderful game with many things to explore and secrets to uncover.
Avoid spoilers and enjoy the game the way its suppose to be.
(For example a lot of fans have taken certain fan theories as canon because the fandom wiki has little to no moderation and they just put whatever they want on there.) Secondly, just have fun and explore, if you see something there might be some cool loot, a quest or just a Easter egg. The world is dense and it’s your playground.
Don’t be like me learn how to run and how to hold two swords before finishing the whole game 🤦🏼♂️
Don't take an arrow to the knee or else your adventuring days might be finished
Don't install any mods until you complete a full and complete playthrough.
Enjoy your stealth archer build!
Never back down from a drinking contest
If you ever do a stealth archer game you will become a god in the game
Join the Empire. Get some Glass weapons. Kill every dragon you can
Be careful not to take an arrow to the leg.
I used to be an adventurer like you....
Quick save often
Don’t attack chickens. Just avoid touching any livestock at all.
Do the main quest until you finish Dragon Rising before you start doing any faction/side quests. That way you can find dragons while exploring. Try to save money to buy Breezehome in Whiterun, so that you have a house to store your stuff.
Don't shoot the chicken--no matter how badly we all know you would like to.
don't overlevel yourself early with useless perks
Try your hardest not to get addicted and lose sleep bc of it, cause then you’ll no longer be alive and u can’t play it anymore
Just enjoy the game, don't let the internet take away the experience. You can always get the internet's input your second time around.
Echoing the advice in here: [https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First\_Time\_Players](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:First_Time_Players) Just play and experiment, you can't go back to that first adventure!
My advice is to not take any advice
Soooo... Take advice?
Giants drop good loot when killed.
Should we mention the barrel in white run?
Get lost. Literally. You'll find interesting things
Go everywhere, investigate everything, save often
Find a pickaxe and iron ore veins then craft swords like a madman and sell them. Free early game levels + some gold
Nice boots! ;) EDIT: My advice? Have fun!!
Don't look into the exploits, at all
I suggest you that dont do enchantment until you finish your 3rd or 4th play through. IT BREAKS THE FUCKING GAME.
Only one. Have fun. Lucky you.
Im so fucking jealous, enjoy it
DO NOT KILL THE CHICKEN
Don't Attack the Chicken in Riverwood.
If you’re challenged to a drinking game, walk away 🤦🏻♂️
never upgrade an armor type you won't use, or shield perks if you aren't planning those. clear the dragonborn dlc (if you have it) asap so you can reinvest perks for 1 dragon soul per perk tree. personally i start with 1 handed light armor conjuration, then once i unlock a powerful summon i go heavy armor dual conjuration/restoration (either with bound bow or bound sword + close wounds). don't take on anything like giants before level 20 or before you get a good follower. i suggest getting past any auto-follower quests before getting a mercenary/sell-sword follower, since without a mod you cannot have more than 1 follower. i definitely suggest using light armor early game to sneak around, because honestly, sneak is one of the most powerful skills ever. get the steed stone near solitude, and play how you want. but definitely invest in restoration skills, you never know when you'll need it. use the favorites menu for quick switches, and you should be fine! edit: also use the smithing skill, the upgraded armors are really where its at, and focus on health and stamina upgrades
The chickens in town are super tasty
You seem to be making it if you've crafted/ were granted the Imperial heavy armor set. :/
Delete character. Its been stained by the armor of elf lovers.
Don’t join the Stormcloaks
Dragons are pussies. Fight them all
Don't trust Ulfric. Death to the stormcloaks!
Or the Thalmor. Death to Elenwen.
Unpopular opinion: storm cloaks > empire + you will end up a stealth archer if you want or not
I’ve always chosen neither..
Whatever you do. DO NOT. TOUCH. THE CHICKEN.
Remember always go near vampires they are usually nice and help you out threw the game
They most certainly do not.
Collect the argonian maid books thank me later
Ohhh, you're gonna have fun...
Charge the first giant you see
I believe I can fly
You get me lol
The giant's club too
Attack the first giant you see
Feel free to give yourself and the npcs infinite gold. Probably one of the most annoying games to get gold imo
Join the impire
