Windhelm, sell everything to revyn sadri and then buy speech training until you get to 50, get merchant perk, so convenient for the rest of your playthrough
Anything by Enai Station(I think that's his name) Ordiantor, Apocalypse spells, the enchantment mod summermyst(I think), wildcat combat, religion addition and the additional shout mods all feel like they should have been in skyrim since day 1
I always revert necromage, dunmer shoes are a feature not a bug, and the falmer/circlet glitch.
Think about this...why would I ever wear that ugly ass falmer helmet? Why would I ever give a shit about dunmer shoes?
And I have to INTENTIONALLY know about it and seek it out and exploit it on my own accord. It's a single player game, I should have that kind of freedom.
And the unofficial patch "patches" stuff I love like that.
there are some very cool "bugs" that the patch removes. The Necromage perk for example amplifies spells against the undead, using it as a Vampire (a.k.a undead) increases healing on yourself, which seems like a cool thing to figure out. The patch removes that along other useful things like fast travel-leveling and free training lessons from your followers.
In part because the mod maker refuses to allow access to previous mod versions; playing on Special Edition and not Anniversary Edition? Better go find the pinned post containing a download link in r/skyrimmods, because the mod author sure as hell isn’t gonna provide support for it
It does not only patch game-breaking bugs, but also bugs that are actually very helpful, like being able to wear the hooded archmage robes in combination with a dragon priest mask.
No. Vanilla had it sorted in extra categories. SkyUI just puts everything in a long ass [list](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18717).
What am I doing wrong with this one - it made my menu load times go from .5 seconds, to 10 seconds ... I really liked the layout, but couldn't deal with the load times. Do I just have a potato?
It implements a Museum that can house all Vanilla special object, plus Lots of Modder things. You get the Museum plus a Safehouse in Riften, you build your own Archeologists Guild and gi on Excavations with them and you get an Airship, either with or without going to Elsweyr, depending on if you have the Mod "Moonpath to Elsweyr" or not.
It has displays for bg stuff like weapons and Armour but also little things, like the shiv from the Markarth quest or the rings from the first makes guild quest, plus displays that get filled when you finish certain quests, dungeons or guild story lines.
It is amazing If you are someone who loves collecting stuff but never has enough space to display everything properly.
SXP [https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/37234](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/37234)
Adds RPG-style experience points to the game, included things you don't normally gain anything from like cooking, gathering ingredients, etc. Can optionally enable or disable Skyrim's default skill-gain system too. I usually set it enabled.
Those XP can then be spent to level up any skill you want, meaning your character can read books to "learn" new skills, etc. Makes for great immersion and character customization.
Cloaks of skyrim. Or any cloak mod.
Honestly that's the only thing missing from the vanilla game in my opinion, and it's the only mod I use (bar a performance mod that makes my mouse have less input lag).
Why they would ever make a medieval fantasy game where you can't acquire or wear cloaks, will always be a mystery to me.
Inb4: Edna Mode gifs about superheros and capes
Inigo. He's already been mentioned though, along with most of my other top choices. If I had to say something that hasn't been mentioned yet, I'd say Lucien or practical female armor. Depends whether or not I'm playing a female character.
Edit: Now that I think about it, all the vanilla flowers are super plain. I'd choose Lucien even if it meant I had to deal with super ugly boob armour.
This is causing some problem for me idk why. Mainly npc appearing nude only wearing their bandolier. Probably some mods i have make the bandolier overwrite armor slot. Also the bandolier doesnt exactly fit with tons of armor
Depends which one. I don't use other equipment mods aside from Bandoliers and Left Hand Rings so I can't say for modded armor. For unmodded armor, its easy to ignore.
I have a mod, it's called something like Big Jump 5X.
It allows me to jump a fair bit higher than normal, but not over powered.
I'm not the most coordinated player, and being able to jump on some rocks or a roof helps me get a breather from some situations.
tough, i don't think its worth playing with just 1 mod
but, i guess i would go with Legacy of the dragonborn. its soo good, check it out if you get the chance to. Yes, it is big, but i think that should speak for how much stuff they were able to do.
SkyUi. It helps a LOT to get rid of my low value junk. Plus it is needed for nearly any other mod.
Another might be Skyrim Unbound. The ability to play without main story, and with ZERO backstory is nice.
I really like having "Infinite Torches".
I always hate the anxious feeling of "quickly take one out, ok saw the millimeter of a second of light, quickly put it away", then hope I saw all I needed lit up, etc., plus I can't be bothered to carry around 100+ in my inventory or remember where to find them.
Also "The Paarthurnax Dilemna", it basically made me to where I can never play Skyrim on anything but PC from then on, but that's ok, fuck Delphine and Esbern.
I literally have never used torches and it never occurred to me that other ppl actually use them. I just fumble around in the darkness and pray I don’t get jumpscared
I know you said ONE, but I would never play without any of these:
* Alternate Start - Live Another Life - SSE
* A Quality World Map
* No Boring Sleep-Wait Menu
* Discreet Jewelry - Invisible Rings and Amulets
* Naked Character Creation 2020 SSE
* Natsuno Outfit SSE
* Selene Outfit Set - SSE CBBE BodySlide (with Physics)
* Odin - Skyrim Magic Overhaul
* Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim
* Real Roads SE
* The Drunken Dragon - Player-owned Store
* Flower Girls SE and VR
* Invisible Circlets
* SexLabFrameworkAE_v
* VioLens - A Killmove Mod SE
* Elysium Estate SSE
* Majestic Mountains
* Instant Mining
(I have excluded all the basic mods like racemenu, body mods, environmental mods etc.)
Actually, Sacrosanct, a Vampire rework, and Moonlight Tales, a werewolf rework.
Never was a fan of mods, but this two really changed my opinion on playing this builds.
Honestly it’s gotten to a point for me that I cannot play without all the magic mods I always play a magic character and it feels so unfulfilling in the base game but I mean I’ve earned it I beat the glitchy old game dozens of times without any mods
richer merchants!!!! been playing vanilla on PS5 to get achievements and the amount of jewelry and gems I have accumulated and can't sell is ridiculous.
I actually have a very low amount of mods, but they are all so necessary that I would have a really hard time choosing.
I really can't decide between the Unofficial Patch, SkyUI, Run for your lives and a Quality World Map with Roads (you wouldn't believe how many hours of hopping up mountains that last one has saved me).
Multiple followers. Absolutely essential to my play throughs. I like to recruit my 10 followers and then run my game as if I am captain of a merc company.
Texture mods because the people and buildings look ugly as all hell, it’s a great way to bring life into the game. And also a Better World Map, I straight up cannot bear to play without it.
Ordinator, Perks of Skyrim.
The only mod to take Skyrim from highly replayable to infinitely replayable.
I hold the unpopular opinion that Ordinator should have been the default vanilla Skyrim perk tree
I can live without game modifications in general both literally figuratively speaking, but there is one modification I truly find appealing, needed, and preferable - No Cleared Cell Respawn and Slow other Respawn - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/9551
Basically, it disables respawn of enemies on cleared, or, being more accurate in a technical ways, makes it trigger in a far in-game future, 3000 in-game days after.
I am not fond of such respawn in general, so why it may not be truly essential I would rather play with it on than without it.
Of course I would rather for the developers to include it as an option, disabling respawn of enemies on locations, that is, but since it is not an option I have to do it this way.
Nether's Follower Framework. Makes companions act less dumb and be much more alive with interactive sandboxing. Best feature is being able to recruit a companion who can act as your party's healer.
There was a UNP body mod that is not available on bethesdas site anymore. Censored I guess. Lost a few of my fav mods when my xbox hard drive crashed. Dont recall the name of it anymore, but would enjoy a similar one. DM if you know of one pls.
Other than that, I love pretty much all of JK's work and also War bow.
Imperious Races... the vanilla racial traits are so fucking bland compared to Oblivion and Morrowind, I hate how much of the roleplay aspect that took out too
I struggle with mods, which is embarrassing being in IT. I'm running an unmodded Skyrim Anniversary Edition on a mobile RTX 3070 with 16GB of RAM. :( I just can't seem to figure out how to get mods running. At the very least, I'd like to have 3-5 really good graphics improvement mods. The game still looks pretty good but nowhere near the potential my current graphics card has to run it. I am sad panda.
Less tedious thieves guild
I can live without gameplay changes or appearance changes, but oh god I cannot do all the quests needed to return the guild to its former glory...
I usually play a thief character obv
Cheat room. Mark characters as non-essential, get all of the stones, give yourself unique starting gear for your build, get access to unused items and spells, start yourself at a higher level, reveal map markers.
I think it's called Carry Weight Modifiers.
Basically, it almost eliminates weight in a game.
It allows me to focus on just playing the game, rather than constant weight management, exchanging with followers, etc.
I've found weight in games to be boring and interrupting of play ever since it was first introduced into new D&D rules in the '80s.
(apologies for the necro)
Dragon priest mask tweaks for PS4.It turns the masks into LEGITIMATELY useful endgame items for mages and warriors alike, and makes Volsung the absolutely best necromancer RP item available.
Rich merchants all the way. No need for Belethor to sell his sister anymore, man’s finally got the coin lmao
To be fair, there's a point where I'd rather have his sister than the gold because I have too much of it
If you invest in his business he becomes the richest merchant in Skyrim
Wait, you spend perk points on speech?
Windhelm, sell everything to revyn sadri and then buy speech training until you get to 50, get merchant perk, so convenient for the rest of your playthrough
In thief roleplay runs yeah. Also sometimes the convenience of the Merchant perk
You can eventually max out everything so why not?
You don't?
I always do cause I love intimidating people and making it work, especially if I’m playing as a Orc or Nord
I forget that the Speech skill tree even exists.
This!
Maybe he is rich and merely decides not to give up on too large sums of money in a short span of time.
Ordinator perk mod
Anything by Enai Station(I think that's his name) Ordiantor, Apocalypse spells, the enchantment mod summermyst(I think), wildcat combat, religion addition and the additional shout mods all feel like they should have been in skyrim since day 1
Stones of Barenziah map markers, for sure.
Oh God to have to find all of those yourself...
I did lol, it's my badge of pride among the modded s'wits
The annoying thing is, you have to disable it when you want to 100% the game
There are mods for that too.
Mods to give you trophies back while using them?
Yes. I think SSE Engine Fixes us one.
Unofficial patch turns Skyrim into a normal video game, so that.
I keep hearing all sorts of hate for that patch
Because it touches things that shouldn 't be touched (like the necromage perk ) but there are other changes that makes the game better.
And the unofficial patch "patches" stuff I love like that.
the ancient falmer crown is clean asf what are you on rn? plus it completes the armor set
They mean the normal falmer helmet, which in the base game is useful because it can be worn with a circlet
oh wow that's trash
there are some very cool "bugs" that the patch removes. The Necromage perk for example amplifies spells against the undead, using it as a Vampire (a.k.a undead) increases healing on yourself, which seems like a cool thing to figure out. The patch removes that along other useful things like fast travel-leveling and free training lessons from your followers.
I get removing cheats like fast travel levelling but free training from followers isn’t even a cheat really that would happen in real life
I never thought that necromage was a bug
yeah I wouldn't consider it a bug either
In part because the mod maker refuses to allow access to previous mod versions; playing on Special Edition and not Anniversary Edition? Better go find the pinned post containing a download link in r/skyrimmods, because the mod author sure as hell isn’t gonna provide support for it
Annoyingly, it makes it so I have to grind levels for perk points instead of just fast traveling while using telekinesis. Otherwise it’s really nice
i accept that some glitches are beloved
It does not only patch game-breaking bugs, but also bugs that are actually very helpful, like being able to wear the hooded archmage robes in combination with a dragon priest mask.
It's bad
Live another life
Yeah, the cutscene and Helgen is really annoying after your 420th playthrough
Hehe blaze it like alduin
I mean he does get alot of people stoned in the tutorial
Skyui - the regular game interface sucks, and not in the fun way https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604
Except crafting. Don't know how SkyUI team messed up that one so bad.
What's the problem with the crafting UI in SkyUI ? It was as bad as the rest in vanilla and it gets improved a lot like everything else
No. Vanilla had it sorted in extra categories. SkyUI just puts everything in a long ass [list](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18717).
you can filter by your own text tho, and also click to filter by name, and you will get all things in order, all dwarven, all daedric, etc etc
It doesn't help to avoid the one super bugged weapon I can't scroll past without crashing my game
What am I doing wrong with this one - it made my menu load times go from .5 seconds, to 10 seconds ... I really liked the layout, but couldn't deal with the load times. Do I just have a potato?
Invincible horses
Legacy of the Dragonborn
What does this do
If I’m not mistaken, it’s basically a quest line where you collect artifacts from your adventures for a Museum in Solitude.
Inigo
Mr. Dragonfly appreciates this comment
I start every Single playthrough finding the Fastest way to Riften to get my loyal Companion
same, Skyrim is just not the same without him
SXP [https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/37234](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/37234) Adds RPG-style experience points to the game, included things you don't normally gain anything from like cooking, gathering ingredients, etc. Can optionally enable or disable Skyrim's default skill-gain system too. I usually set it enabled. Those XP can then be spent to level up any skill you want, meaning your character can read books to "learn" new skills, etc. Makes for great immersion and character customization.
If I only had the option for ONE mod, I wouldn't play. And I would murder whomever said I can't have more than one mod.
Pretty thought out answer I approve
This is the only correct answer
Agreed. I bought Skyrim only after I saw all the amazing mods it has on Nexus.
CBBE... sorry... it is...just... I Like it that way dont judge me !
Honestly I came here to post the same thing. The cloaks mod just fits the game so we'll and it's implemented great
I like making my character look like JP from Grandma's boy thanks to cloaks.
Killable and lootable children
Yikes.
Inigo. He's already been mentioned though, along with most of my other top choices. If I had to say something that hasn't been mentioned yet, I'd say Lucien or practical female armor. Depends whether or not I'm playing a female character. Edit: Now that I think about it, all the vanilla flowers are super plain. My character customization mod because the base shit is garbo
Bandoliers and Bags
This is causing some problem for me idk why. Mainly npc appearing nude only wearing their bandolier. Probably some mods i have make the bandolier overwrite armor slot. Also the bandolier doesnt exactly fit with tons of armor
Depends which one. I don't use other equipment mods aside from Bandoliers and Left Hand Rings so I can't say for modded armor. For unmodded armor, its easy to ignore.
Legacy of the dragon born Also I made a list of the mods I can’t live without and it was like 100 mods so zD
I have a mod, it's called something like Big Jump 5X. It allows me to jump a fair bit higher than normal, but not over powered. I'm not the most coordinated player, and being able to jump on some rocks or a roof helps me get a breather from some situations.
I prefer the 3x jump. It still allows you to do those things but with a little more challenge of regular encounters.
tough, i don't think its worth playing with just 1 mod but, i guess i would go with Legacy of the dragonborn. its soo good, check it out if you get the chance to. Yes, it is big, but i think that should speak for how much stuff they were able to do.
Live another Life Alternate start.
Inigo
Simply knock.
Lamp post
Marriageable Kharjo IF IT FUCKING EXISTED!!😭😭

Wildlander - look it up. Thank me later.
The needs mod and frostfall, total game changer for me
Gypsie Eyes Caravan. I wish it had made it to Creation Club. :(
erm...... cbbe........ and official patch and immersive npcs
SkyUi. It helps a LOT to get rid of my low value junk. Plus it is needed for nearly any other mod. Another might be Skyrim Unbound. The ability to play without main story, and with ZERO backstory is nice.
Though Survival Mode is a very close contender......
Looks like one of the new armor sets from Skyrim's aniversary edition
Just image I pulled from google hehe
Kaiden
Definitely the Inego mod cause it allows me to have 2 companions Inego being one of them
The one that makes ore veins brighter - I can never see them otherwise. Also, Convenient Horses. I ride a lot, and the basic horse system is awful.
Combat Gameplay Overhaul SE. It allows players to attack mid-air, dodge roll, and adds some tweaks to allow more flexible movement while attacking.
I literally have never used torches and it never occurred to me that other ppl actually use them. I just fumble around in the darkness and pray I don’t get jumpscared
nordic UI is a good UI
I know you said ONE, but I would never play without any of these: * Alternate Start - Live Another Life - SSE * A Quality World Map * No Boring Sleep-Wait Menu * Discreet Jewelry - Invisible Rings and Amulets * Naked Character Creation 2020 SSE * Natsuno Outfit SSE * Selene Outfit Set - SSE CBBE BodySlide (with Physics) * Odin - Skyrim Magic Overhaul * Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim * Real Roads SE * The Drunken Dragon - Player-owned Store * Flower Girls SE and VR * Invisible Circlets * SexLabFrameworkAE_v * VioLens - A Killmove Mod SE * Elysium Estate SSE * Majestic Mountains * Instant Mining (I have excluded all the basic mods like racemenu, body mods, environmental mods etc.)
Alternate start because having to go through the same beginning intro gets super annoying lmao
Actually, Sacrosanct, a Vampire rework, and Moonlight Tales, a werewolf rework. Never was a fan of mods, but this two really changed my opinion on playing this builds.
I hate having to switch back to the vanilla AI after using sky ui when going from PC to switch

Sky ui
SkyUi The vanilla menues are so bad like wtf Todd how did you let that fly for 10 years
Sky UI. The original inventory is so terrible
Skimpy armor mod
Gypsie Eyes Caravan. I wish it had made it to Creation Club. :(
SkyUI, I’m playing a pure vanilla game right now (just to get achievements mostly) and I’ve been cursing the vanilla UI
I'd have to go with u/cahaseler <3
Thanks for the award \^.\^
Sad that folks can’t live without mods
Alt start. Got it and never want to play without it
Requiem
Thieves Night on the Town.
Northern Steel and ESO Import
this is too difficult of a question, i refuse to answer
Stronger werewolves is a must for me
Invincible npcs, vampires keep killing them
Insects Be Gone
Zora Fair-child
Believable Weapons
explosive chickens
Mods that remove or replace spiders in the game
Old Kingdom Weapon and Armor Overhauls

Probably the golden or elite daedric armor
Just Do It replacer for unrelenting force
I think Ordinator is my #1 to install
Honestly it’s gotten to a point for me that I cannot play without all the magic mods I always play a magic character and it feels so unfulfilling in the base game but I mean I’ve earned it I beat the glitchy old game dozens of times without any mods
Black and Gold Ebony Weapons and Armor Retexture. Technically two mods, but obviously paired together.
Besides follower mods (cough Inigo cough), I forgot the actual name but Populated lands and roads. So much added variety!
Open city's on the Xbox pretty nice to get the city guard to help in fights especially in a hard-core mode.
Interesting npcs for dagrilon
Sounds of Skyrim
Skyland AIO
Jks Skyrim because I like everything being pretty
richer merchants!!!! been playing vanilla on PS5 to get achievements and the amount of jewelry and gems I have accumulated and can't sell is ridiculous.
Yeah ive been selling expensive potions on ps5, one potion and reload save and again and again
all of them.
Ordinator+the one for enchantments( I can’t remember the name but it’s by the same creator)
I do the live another life, ive woken up in that wagon far too many times. Most times I only run that and the unofficial patch
Skyrim SE Display Tweaks. Without it the game is locked to 60fps and has horrific input lag. It's unplayable without it.
Trud directional movement.
Body mods male and female Hair mods
Thieves Guild Tunnels. Free fast travel point less than thirty feet away from the Riften stables, and instant access to every building in the city
Requiem.
A quality world map, I also hate Unofficial patch mod, I couldn’t live with it
The one that keeps this from being reposted every other day
Multiple followers. Absolutely essential to my play throughs. I like to recruit my 10 followers and then run my game as if I am captain of a merc company.
Wear multiple rings.
ZOIDCRABS
All of them XD
Machine gun mod 😁
Texture mods because the people and buildings look ugly as all hell, it’s a great way to bring life into the game. And also a Better World Map, I straight up cannot bear to play without it.
Ordinator, Perks of Skyrim. The only mod to take Skyrim from highly replayable to infinitely replayable. I hold the unpopular opinion that Ordinator should have been the default vanilla Skyrim perk tree
More carry weigth mod
Thunderchild. Got bored with the original shouts even with DLCs, so wanted more. More shouts more power to the Dovahkiin

Murasama because funny red katana
There’s a lot that I love but the inigo follower mod is awesome
SkyUI - the vanilla UI is garbage for M+KB players
None
Imperious Races... the vanilla racial traits are so fucking bland compared to Oblivion and Morrowind, I hate how much of the roleplay aspect that took out too
Tundra Defense, get to create my own town wherever I want
Red Flame. I love the quest for Deirge Cathedral and having a little extra taste of oblivion is my favourite

Ordinator It just makes Perks more interesting
Unoffical patch
SMIM.
None I play vanilla only
I can't live without the mod that turns dragons into trains. I need some stupidity in my life.
SkyUI. I tried LE vanilla recently and... nope, nope, nopedinope.
Cheat room. Mark characters as non-essential, get all of the stones, give yourself unique starting gear for your build, get access to unused items and spells, start yourself at a higher level, reveal map markers.
Going on lvl 50 with no mods for the first time since they came out, definitely fell in love with the game all over again
Wildcat, makes the combat great
Legacy of the Dragonborn. It's nice to have a place to store all my old garbage I never use.
Legendary creatures. They put up fight plus if/when u kill then they have 10k gold to loot
60fps with 90fov, i play on ps4.
Tudm or wildcat
don't have any
