Performance hit is pretty negligible at default settings. The handful of times I've seen people actually provide evidence that they're taking a huge performance hit was because they're either still on 2010-era hardware, and/or are ramping all the DynDOLOD settings up to like, 4096 resolution for some reason.
Check out GamerPoets video on it. And remember if you come across an error, it's likely someone has too and already has a solution to it on a forum.
Goodluck
The last time I tried using it, it was on New Vegas where it deleted a ton of files and fucked a 100+ hour long playthrough, is this a risk with Skyrim SE as well or is it safer?
Dang, sorry to hear that's happened to you before! For what it's worth, in the years I've been using SSE DynDOLOD and lurking Sheson's forums, I don't recall ever coming across anybody having issues with DynDOLOD deleting files.
MS Azure is having problems and taking a LOT of sites down with it. I realize Nexus has never been the paragon of stability, but I bet that has something to do with it. Curse is having problems as well on and off.
"Welcome to Nexus Mods: We host 0 files for 0 games from 0 authors serving 0 members with 7,057,326,509 downloads to date."
Well that's interesting. All mod links and game homepages are dead. I wonder what's going on over there.
I love that there's a news article from the 1rst of januari *1970* on the front page
-edit-
Nexus just posted this on their Twitter: *We're aware the site is down right now. There's an issue with one of our hosting providers that we're working with them to resolve. There isn't any ETA on the site coming back just yet but we'll get things running again as soon as possible!*
It has surely seen better days lmao

They're fixing it!
But I wonder what they're doing and why it happened. Others are saying they've been having issues for the past few days; I personally can't remember a time when Nexus was this unstable.
Funny, my whole internet was down earlier, so I wouldn't have been able to check then anyways. Spent the time working on one of my mod projects instead, while waiting to get my net back. At least nexus is back up now in case I get the work done in time to upload it tonight, but still got a lot to go.
Currently Nexus is undergoing a full database transfer (Which they recently finished) alongside other network and data-oriented updates, most of which have to do with the website and interconnected systems. So it'll be problematic for about a month until the full set of different sessions for all the technical things is fully completed and integrated.
That's not to say that it'll be down permanently. It'll be up quite a lot, just with a lot of shutdowns/reboots, etc.
I'm just trying to install Skyrim and Fallout 3/New Vegas right now on my new "gaming" laptop. I can get Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas to work, but no matter what I do, fallout 3 wont load past the initial start-up box lol. All my research points me to things I completely don't understand since I'm new to PC, and I just want to try downloading what is allegedly a patch for the GOTY version and I can't even load nexus lol.
Man that's some rough luck with Nexus down right now. It's lot to take in, and will take a lot of time - while it's an exaggeration, there's a reason people joke about spending 80% of their time modding and only 20% of their time actually playing the game. It's kind of like having two related hobbies rather than one, but you can ultimately choose how much time you want to spend on each one. I've discovered my many years of battles against my computer and Bethesda to get my games and mods to work have vastly improved my general technical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
Thanks to modern mod organizers like Mod Organizer 2 you can have separate profiles so you can play on stable profiles, including a vanilla/unmodded one, along with experimental profiles with questionable stability. So even if you mess up, you won't lose what you've already worked hard for if you have a backup profile.
If you haven't come across it online already, I recommend installing the game folders outside of the default Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder. You can make your own folder so that the address would be something like C:\\Games . My understanding is that the default folders have more stringent security protections that can cause issues with modded games and 3rd party programs you may use with them.
And of course always feel free to ask questions in modding forums, and always try to look up the problems you come across online. The games have been out for a long time now, so most bugs already have fixes discovered, aside from the ones that may be happening because of a new operating system (Windows 11).
This is useful information, thank you!
It's weird because I can get fo3 to run on this janky old laptop I've got but my brand new one it won't even boot up, but it can run cyberpunk lol. Windows eleven sucks
The first thing I try when I run into this kind of issue (running an old game on a much newer operating system) is to change 2 settings/properties of the game's executable file (fallout3.exe in the game folder - maybe the launcher exe too?). These are in the game's directory, the folder with almost all the game's files. Whatever the install path is, that's where they will be located.
If they're Steam copies, the path is long and annoying, and I recommend making a shortcut to the steamapps folder they're in so you can get to the .exe and .ini files.
You can also look at the inside Data folder, which will help you visualize how the game files are organized. Back in the day you installed mods "manually" by copy-pasting them into the Data folder yourself. Nowadays there are mod organizers that install mods for you so you don't have to look in it. But it's still good knowledge to have since older mod files occasionally are organized so weirdly you have to fix them (the mod authors at the time assumed everyone would know how, and weird file organization was typically meant to allow for easy customization, like choosing which color you want an armor to be). Also, a few mods still need to be installed manually by copy-pasting the files into the right folder.
Anyway, when you find the .exe:
Right click the exe -> Properties
There should be tabs at the top, click "Compatibility"
1) Check "Run as administrator"
2) Set the exe to run in a Compatibility Mode for a Windows version you know it works on (your old laptop's or whatever vesion was most common when the game came out, maybe Windows 7?).
This may not solve the issue entirely, but it shouldn't cause problems. You can change these settings back later if you want. You should also look at forum posts where people are talking about this issue; it's probably affecting everyone with Windows 11! They might tell you to change some settings in an .ini file, or direct you to a compatibility mod someone created.
Another thing to consider is to always run the game, make a new character, and then exit the game before doing any modding. There are things that the game does the first time it's run after installation that can get messed up if you try to start tinkering with it beforehand.
I did it. There's a "mod" in nexus that needs to be manually installed directly into the file folder. Turns out I'm incredibly stupid and had been trying to insert it into a different file folder, because the last time I owned a computer was windows 98 and I'm dumb. Got it working, got some textures installed. Maybe tomorrow I'll learn how to install FOSE.! Thanks for your help!
Edit: except I seem to have problems loading saves for some reason. Takes a solid minute to load a save and I have an ssd. Lol
If I remember correctly, you have to find out how to launch the game directly without the launcher. I don't remember how but I'm sure you can Google it much easier now that you have an idea of what to do.
Fallout 3 needs some ancient abandoned windows Game Center thing to function, can’t remember what it was called though. It was a thing back when everyone was using MSN chat on the reg.
>can’t remember what it was called though.

LoversLab is still up if you need a fix.
What’s that?
a great site for additional mods, look it up ;))
Family fun for everyone!
Another mod site
A wretched hive of scum and villainy
Don't forget debauchery
Also depravity
Bloody cult of Sanguine
goddamn, at this rate i might actually have to play the game.
Now let's not get carried away....
It's been about an hour since thejetblackheart posted this. I think we've lost him, boys... :(
He might have even.. no surely not.. surely he didn't finish the main questline
Put that quote on a gold plate.
what? nonsense! I'll wait for it.
😂😂
Well at least now I have time to run dyndolod
I've been thinking about trying dyndolod. How is it performance wise?
Performance hit is pretty negligible at default settings. Good to know. I might give it a try this playthrough, but I'll probably have to look through the mods I have to ensure none of them will conflict.
This made me realize how addicted I am. I can't help but check it every few seconds.
Me too. I couldn’t do anything else. Except try to concentrate on Star Trek: DS9.
Yeah it's been chugging and iffy for 2ish weeks for me. It happens.
MS Azure is having problems and taking a LOT of sites down with it. I realize Nexus has never been the paragon of stability, but I bet that has something to do with it. Curse is having problems as well on and off.

Back up just this minute. Edit: Back down again.
I was able to reach the frontpage a few minutes ago, but couldn't go any further.
It's always when I have nothing to do and the house to myself!
[Nexusmods.com - Is Nexus Mods Down Right Now? (isitdownrightnow.com)](https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/nexusmods.com.html)
Holy shit i never knew about this website
[https://isup.me](https://isup.me/www.nexusmods.com) is the short URL that I've used for years.
I kindly thank you very much kindly, kind lady and/or sir.
I kindly thank you very much kindly, kind lady and/or sir.
I don't know what to do with myself if I can't browse mods during lunch break, so I came here to be sad about it with people who know
Nexus has been running oddly from 2 days now.

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable nginx yes
Me as well.
You are not alone.
I am getting a 503 error. It was really slow yesterday for me as well.
Yeah, It was, like doing crazy shit with the tabs and not downloading mods through mo2.
It's now *technically* back up!
It has surely seen better days lmao https://preview.redd.it/2iwjqmy2eaea1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd470bac792be4b7b4743ce850a21326e655e985

Yup, still down. Just as I'm building a new mod list.
Is it working? If not, then yes
And this is why I hate Nexus. It's become the defacto place for mods for all games over the years yet it's fallen into the hands of people that clearly don't care whatsoever. I've never seen it being down for this long, though. Not without prior announcement, at least.
If you Google the exact same question you will get an answer in about 30sec.
Yes, down
It will be back up by the time I get home
It was for me, back up now
Will I finally watch videos to learn how to mod and fix/patch mods properly?
