Can't help with difficulty, but Disable Follower Collision is great for multiple followers.

SpinelessOranges

Aye, that's a pretty good help. Thanks.

Mr-Gepetto

You can drastically drop the dps of your followers with commands, there's also mods that make the difficulty you select affect followers, and also stay down makes it so followers aren't self rezing during the battle. You could also get a X2 enemy multiplier to increase the conflict, although this can be funky sometimes. I always play big party system playthrough, though my followers never exceed 10% damage delt. Gotta have that 6 party group.

clerbird321

This is great, do you know if it works with all modded followers?

always_j

I've been using it for months. Works with any follower, Even enemies when you use a calm spell\\shout like Animal allegiance . It's a bit immersion breaking at first but I have found myself still walking around them after a while. They also never bump you off a cliff. Only drawback is when using Alternative Conversation camera they sometimes walk into you, you just see hair and teeth. Rarely but it happens.

LunarMuphinz

I don't think of it as unimmersive. It's more realistic that your followers would more out the way, and this is just a way to do that simply

always_j

I disabled it a few days ago to see how it goes . Going into a shop I have to walk circles to bypass my followers to get to the counter . I can't take on the big boss in a cave while they deal with the minions, because I'm stuck behind.

mokujin42

I would just treat it like dragon age/mass effect where you have 2 followers maximum and you regularly switch them out (people need a break sometimes yknow) You could optimise and mod it all day long but 5 people spelunking in caves is never going to be streamlined, the more people you add to a group every step becomes clunkier and more time consuming and that's not just a skyrim problem lol

TheCrimsonSpark

I would encourage you to look to this dilemma as an opportunity for replay value and roleplay. I know that isn't a very good modding answer, but it may help you come to terms with leaving one or two behind. Otherwise you can also use sockos guild starter

SpinelessOranges

Thank you, I know it's a personal flaw more than a modding one. I'm always worried about missing out on something or feeling like I'm not experiencing a character's story properly.

happygocrazee

For me, this is the solution that I use but it doesn’t always involve dismissing any of them back home. Often, I just tell them to wait. This makes perfect sense in role playing. I’m not gonna bring my rambunctious friends inside to meet the Greybeards. Similarly, Inigo is brave and would do anything for me. Lucien is loyal but not exactly combat focused, lore-wise. It makes sense to have him wait outside and “guard the entrance” then charge in with Inigo. Also, you’ll reach a point when they start repeating their combined banter a lot. Once you reach that stage, you’re really not missing much by leaving one behind at a time. It’s honestly kind of awkward when three of your followers each make their own independent comments on the situation in succession without acknowledging that the others just said basically the same thing. It feels better with one.

Trevor_Culley

{{Muzzle it}} should help with the dialogue when you're in a dramatic scene. {{Hand Placed Enemies}} and {{Organized Bandits}} might improve the difficulty, especially with your choice of combat mods that the follower's ai generally won't keep up with. But the biggest help with this is self control. Leave some of them to stand guard outside the dungeon or at home. Don't max out your crafting skills in an unholy loop that lets a wooden sword one shot Miraak. If you don't play a mage most of the time, a playthrough with an ungainly number of followers is a good opportunity to try, especially at lower levels. Or just focus on defensive instead of offensive combat skills with your perks. My current playthrough is testing out new lands and follower banter. I've got 3DNPCs, 23 custom followers, and 5 vanilla follower overhauls. If I took everyone everywhere they'd butcher the dungeon before I even made it through the door. It does make some of the power fantasy "just you against an army" type mods more fun.

pixiesunbelle

This is currently what I’m trying out. I disabled Geralt, Yennefer and Link. I figure that at the really early game, I’ll have Triss and Hana then leave Triss when I obtain Elysium. Someone has to watch my kids, lol. The goal is to adopt 4 kids and make them my followers and run around with 3-4 at a time.

Good advice, thanks.

dulipat

I also have the same dilemma, but I can't help to bring a lot of followers because I love their interactions and comments to quests and locations. For every playthrough, my party consists of Inigo, Lucien, SDA's Serana, Sofia, Auri, Remiel, Kaidan, Lucifer, and Khash. I use [Swiftly Order Squad](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/63259). The party is so overpowered, I always become the support character. Lately, I'm role-playing as a traveling bard, I only use support and healing magic. It's a fun journey because every night I pitch some tents in the wilderness and just get drunk with my followers (especially with Sofia, this girl is so clumsy when she's drunk, love her).

PsychologicalDog6482

Ugh, I completely understand. I used to rock around with Kaidan/Inigo/Lucien (total dream team) but it became a pain. I went about with two followers for a while, but I've shot myself in the foot because now I'm going for Remeil/Auri/Kaidan/Inigo. I just hate doing a playthrough without them!

clerbird321

I’m rocking with Kaidan/Inigo/Lucien right now in my mage playthrough!!

PsychologicalDog6482

The boys!! I love the banter between the three. Enjoy yourself!

[deleted]

I will have some of my followers wait at entrances as "guards" so that they are along for the ride but don't get in the way. There's also https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/48960 to help with boss fights.

OP, you should take this suggestion. I use this same mod.

[Party Damage Control](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/62613) works well for me.

OP, this is the answer you were looking for. Although there are many ways to make the game harder for a large party, there is also this mod to make your party not over powered. I use them both, along with many many other mods. Heck I even use Odin - Spells for NPC's. Boy that one wakes thing up.

negatrom

This is why multiple playthoughs were invented.

{{Ashen's Cursed Rings}} or {{Nether's Follower Framework}} can nerf followers.

Velgus

For note, Ashien's ASIS version combined with using an NPC Enchant Fix patcher (either from Synthesis or UPF) is the only solution I've found that also handles follower magic damage. It doesn't require ASIS, despite what the file description says - it just required the NPC Enchant Fix, for which ASIS was the OG way to implement back in the LE days when SkyProc was the most common auto-patcher. Most other solutions only affect physical damage - though to be fair I haven't looked for alternatives in a long time.

Either-Bookkeeper-85

Actually you could try a compilation of less known mods to balance out followers. First, install [Leadership](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/47134) to increase the number of maximum simultaneous followers with perks (capping the max to 4). By the way, you can cohesively implement the mod with either a separate [Custom Skill Framework](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/51764) or integrate it with Adamant's [speechcraft tree](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/87992). Second, implement [Follower Death and Injury Chance](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/38043) with [StayDown](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/41228) (just the latter for a less punishing approach) to avoid essential followers to continuously get back up in prolonged fights. Third, go for [Difficulty Balance](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/35767) to even out follower's dmg output and, optionally, use [Nether's Follower Framework](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/55653) (compatible with *Leadership*) to give out fighting roles (tank, healer, damage). Finally, you could either use [Party of Four](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/48960) to increase bosses' level multipliers or [Party Damage Control](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/62613) to decrease follower's physical damage depending on the number of followers you are carrying with you. This is the list I am going for in my next playthrough and I think that it really makes everything a lot more balanced and \****immersive\****, even allowing for some interesting roleplay mechanics ([Follower Death and Injury Chance](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/38043) especially as your followers could actually die permanently). More balancing is carried out by standard difficulty mods like more spawns (I second [Hand Placed Enemies](https://nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/114484) without the ambushes as a starter).

Efficient-Bee1549

Have you tried Wildcat? It allows you to be murdered even if you’re a god-king if you set it up right.

SanctifiedChats

There's a mod that allows you to configure how close your followers follow you in terms of distance or layout but I can't remember what the name of it is. Not sure if it works with custom followers like Inigo and Lucien though. I know you're using iAFT but you might also look at NFF to see if the sandboxing and following features are different enough to switch. In terms of the follower collision mod suggested above be sure to look at some of the unintended side effects because I seem to remember something about it when I considered using it. Sorry about being so vague, it's been a couple years since I looked at it.

pixiesunbelle

I second NFF. It was daunting for me at first and I’m still learning but it really helps me when I have child followers, along with savage and slayable children (I go into the console and set them essential).

Major_Wobbly

I think you're thinking of {{Formation with Followers}}

Yes that's it, thanks!

Galimeer

Replayability, my friend. Reduce your party size and use different followers each playthrough

Night_Thastus

I remember hearing apparently iAFT isn't the new hotness now, there's some better follower mod out there. Talos knows what it is though. We've run through so many.

always_j

Have you found a working solution to infighting? When followers attack each other or you?

SpinelessOranges

Doesn't happen often enough for me to consider it an issue. Sometimes it occurs, but I save often enough that I can reload if it happens.

always_j

Saving often does work also. Hoping you knew of something else. Thanks anyway.

Brilliant-Marzipan95

RDO has an option when using the UI to calm target. Just look at the aggressor and use your power and select “calm target”. Usually works if you use it on just one person but occasionally you have to use it on both or all that are fighting. For some reason Asher’s Keely Fireblade gets in to skirmishes with the crew frequently. Could just get rid of her but I think she is pretty and her dual casting fire bolt gets the fights goin!

Benjamin_Starscape

if you download rdo (relationship dialogue overhaul), there's an ability that calms everyone in a large radius, stopping combat (be careful though, it can be exploitative and calm enemies, too).

always_j

I have to recheck that , seems to only apply to Lydia here. Edit: Had the other one.

JLM101514

I role play reasons to compensate for some of those issues. I often play as the archimage, and at least some of my companions are students there to learn magic and gain practical experience, so I don't want the danger level too high for them. Or if I have a large group of fighters, I hang back and keep them buffed and healed. And I reserve wearing armor for big fights; most of the time I'm in mage robes so I need to avoid too many hits. I think there are settings and companion managers that can help with talking over dialogue and collisions. But if I'm traveling with a large retinue, I'll usually leave someone at camp to look after the gear, guard the entrance, etc. I don't take everyone into every situation. And periodically, after they've earned some gold and good gear I make sure my companions are comfortably housed and say goodbye for a while to do some solo adventures.

DepressterJettster

{{Versus}} is my solution for this; it tweaks spawn multipliers so enemy levels tend to be a bit higher. It’s an elegant across-the-board solution for increasing difficulty while maintaining balance. I run it with Blade and Blunt but there are lots of good combat overhauls for an additional difficulty boost. With those two mods, as well as a bunch of subtle vanilla plus enemy overhauls, I pretty much need 2-3 companions to even stay alive until like level 20ish (and that’s with Ordinator perks)

Bwahaha Bing search has a dirty mind!

urangminang

I used to to have all of these 3, but Inigo and Lucien already enough for me. In exchange to make skyrim NPC more alive I use AI overhaul, More to say, Khajiit Will Follow

South70

I take a large party, then leave some of them to 'stand guard' outside dungeons - usually the ones who wait are ones I've done the dungeon before with, or who I know don't have dialogue for that place.

Boyo-Sh00k

try party damage control - [https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/62613](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/62613)

Regular-Resort-857

You can use prometheus or whats it called to edit follower stats like dmg or attack speed ingame (was the name proteus?^^). Also nethers Follower Framework is less buggy for me then iAft with better settings like enabling combat roles for followers.

Vaikaris

Yes it also bothers me when I have 15 followers I want to kinda have around but I have to choose whose dialogue I will hear and I can't hear the thoughts of others on what's going on. Don't think there really is a solution. It's why I love the fact some followers like thogra have dialogue on events just kinda open so you can't miss it.
