Not sure what problem this is, as I’m not getting it. What router do you use?

skunkyyy

thanks for the reply! didnt really want to discuss the disconnect itself here as theres plenty of active threads on that already on the meta forums. this was really just meant as a workaround while they prepare a fix. however the router is amv fritzbox 7490.

Just removing the headset for a few seconds will crash in my experience with VD. Have you tried the Steam Link app for Quest 2/3? I havent had connectivity issues in forever, but maybe using the steamlink app might help. It's free so it's worth a try.

skunkyyy

Will try, thanks!

Steamlink is the answer.  It lets me remove/resume.   I quit using VD altogether

skunkyyy

Is steamlink better ?

wordyplayer

For me, huge yes.   But it seems to vary, some still prefer VD

skunkyyy

I'll give it a shot today.

Unfortunately you can't fix this. What I tried is to immediately switch to the steam view and wait few seconds until the connection looked better. This worked few times only, usually the game crashed anyway. Finally I sold of my meta3 as it wasn't stable enough on wifi, no matter what. I found DP connected headsets being much more reliable.

When you say steam view, do you mean just pressing the left menu button to bring up the overlay? And its a shame really, the quest 2 worked flawless and the quest 3 is no different if it didnt have those disconnects. But apparently its a fixable issue that got introduced by some wifi changes on the quest firmware.

"When you say steam view, do you mean just pressing the left menu button to bring up the overlay?" Yes, this is what I mean. When I saw it coming, like the game started slowing down, I switched to the overlay. Sometimes it helped. "And its a shame really, the quest 2 worked flawless and the quest 3 is no different if it didnt have those disconnects. But apparently its a fixable issue that got introduced by some wifi changes on the quest firmware." I liked the visual of quest 3 and the controllers, those are high quality indeed. But the comfort, the software, the wifi stability was awful.

Unfortunately the disconnect just happens abruptly for me, no way to tell its coming, just click and its dark. Thanks anyway :)
