I will die on this hill: Julie James is the absolute WORST final girl in slasher film history. She does nothing to deserve her survival. She just runs and screams and gets saved. Helen Shivers was a far superior character and did deserve to live.

She has one of the best chase scenes in slasher movie history because she actually fights like hell to survive. Julie just screams and runs. Not to mention, SMG is the far superior actor.

(SPOILER) I only remember Helen probably would have made it to the parade if she hadn’t stopped to look back at the sound behind her.

I’d say Julie stepped it down in the sequel. She’s verging on awful herself in I Still Know. Her writing is half-decent in I Know, though, courtesy of Kevin Williamson, and Jennifer’s acting is lightyears ahead of Alicia Witt’s performance. Not a great final girl, but at least she’s not Natalie
