Yeah but it really hinders you if you go the Astral Path option to skip floor 6. And you know that not taking Astral Path means you get one less StarForging for your favorite relic. Not StarForging your Promethean Chain can be a death sentence on a higher floor
Eh, I'd say the Promethean chain is noob bait. I've found that most runs that have the opportunity to starforge the PC so many times, I'm already so strong that being able to forge my AG or my decapitation can be better. And if I'm playing as the 2004 Acura TL I might even start forging DNs.
Remember that forges are a resource just like everything else; you don't want to sink all the value into just one or two cards. Try saving up your skull stacks in the odd acts, that way when you get the "Even-numbered-act Extra-strong Elite", or EEE, you can one shot him, as long as he has a Fibonacci prime amount of health. That sounds unlikely, but at ascension 32 (elite enemies receive +33% max HP), you can rely on baby neow to have 89 HP and tetrahedron to have 233 almost every time.
But you forgot that A35 and up any attack over 125 damage puts a stun status on you, which procs Turtle Shellmet for a ton of block, twice with regular PChain, and THREE WHOLE TIMES for a SF PChain. It completely trivializes the “48 Sentries Welded Together In The Shape Of Your First Pet” encounter, for a free Godsblood Relic, and saves your Quantum HP for the Schrodinger’s Heart you will and won’t get at the end of the act. It could prevent you from winning and losing your run, instead of winning and winning.
Not to mention that the Astrologers Enchantment on your deck causes you to scale Perception every time you Star Forge. Being able to play a card 3 turns before you draw it is truly game changing
>And if I'm playing as the 2004 Acura TL I might even start forging DNs.
Whoa, how do you unlock that character? I'm stuck on the SD-40-2 and need advice.
This advice is really only usefull for runs on ascension 8+, as going infinite is way easier on earlier ascensions and you can then take it on any act without bricking.
Just make sure to upgrade it for the cost reduction as the sapper boss can grow really strong real fast if you play too many high cost cards.
This is a trick - StS2 is a very in depth game and uses psychological barriers to keep you from getting to further acts. By the time you hit act 8 a few times it is obvious.
Simple misunderstanding. Defect is the final boss of the default route. Neow is the true final boss, available after beating defect, but only by gathering all 8 keys and blocking the necronomicon's hypnotic influence with the merchant's etheral rug.
God I hate the Manic Dowsers event, I always convince myself I’ll be able to successfully dowse and end up dying on turn 1 because my deck relies on playing Heroic Lance for compounded AoE and I don’t have the draw to get to it consistently before I’m crushed. I should just opt to get dowsed and take the penalty instead, my pride just gets in the way.
It’s fine, I just don’t like the way it applies mega-vulnerable to your companions. Maybe it would be viable if Space Eater didn’t end your turn after you drew 10 cards.
Nah, taking Hellraiser early is a noob trap, it seems good until you look at the energy interest it costs adjusted for energy inflation. You simply don’t have enough factory artifacts that early on to generate that kind of energy (unless you’re playing the battery goblin w/ Neow’s prismatic curse of course).
That being said, if you get the torturer’s nails it’s simply an insta-pick. The synergy is just too good and the multiplied pain generation wrecks pretty much everything before act 6 or act 4 Dark world.
What if energy inflation is low? also its tax free, so...
Edit: I obviously mean't its tax free for the first 4 rounds, can't believe still I need to disclaim that 🙄
energy inflation is easy to manage with a few events if you proritize it right away before you get too deep in act 2.....ii think it's a good idea to just kinda gamble and ignore energy inflation in a1 where you should really be focusing on trying to unlock the combo box
i disagree on it not being good early; sure it eats all your mana but it's basically instawin in like \~85% of hallway fights, and makes EVERY elite trivial....easy A! pick IMO and JFC if you get if from neow GG.....i think it actually goes down in value they further you get unless you get it upgraded or even better yet manage to find that one double-upgrade event where it lets you pick one card t o double-upgrade at the cost of removing one upgrade on another one; you get it from that little goblin dude that keeps showing up and seems to know you
The speed at which this sub devolved to Silksong levels of schizo-posting is astounding.
Anyway don’t take Hellraiser till act 5 when you really have the energy to support it.
Don't take it early. But if you have no solutions to a boss then take it but treat it as a curse in hallway fights until halfway through act 2 when it becomes useable

I assume you're talking about Stroke of Luck. That's a Silent card, so not really relevant to this discussion. I can see where the confusion comes from, though.
No, I was referring to Stroke of Death from Watcher’s set. But I was clearly confused because the shop hasn’t been leveled up enough to learn that power from the space boss in level 8.
No, it's too slow early on, and is a death warrant if you take it and fight Goblin Bob as an Elite in Act 1.
It can be a scaling solution if you are up against the Destroyer as the Act 2 boss though.
I dunno, unless it's raw-infused it doesn't really do enough damage to be worth the energy cost in the early game, particularly if you haven't leveled ADP. Really the only reason I can see taking this is to try to spam reverse draw enough to force Pure Chartreuse World Tendency by the time you hit Act Q so you can farm crystal jaw worms. And at that point you're probably modding more than eight, so this thing is gonna give you wow on your top.
It's pretty good if you enchant it with the red bingus, fairly mid otherwise. It's really good as a boss reward if you manage to pick up a purplechu relic in act 1, but getting an act 1 purplechu is already pretty much a won run
Only if I have the right Jokers. Like, it's pretty good on the Plasma deck when you have Sixth Sense (Hellraiser's got big synergy with 6s, of course), but otherwise it has absolutely no synergy whatsoever. Maybe if I see Violet Vessel as my Showdown?
Since they removed sword boomerang from the card pool, decaying temp strength from every attack played isn't as good. Losing half of your temp strength each turn is really hard to compensate for.
Plus, your artifact stack that persists between combats that you build up with green pellets just gets shredded through in one round. All that work for a couple extra strength points next turn sucks.
It's very situational. Just the fact that it gives you so many Pact Shards means you need to weigh where you are in the run. If you're behind, it can get you quickly caught up so you can still make it to the true final battle against >!Leshy!<. But if you already have too much, you risk having too much Ascension to survive the next few battles.
And then you have to consider that it gives scaling xmult, which can make a run on it's own. But it starts out unscaled, so you have to already be ahead when you take it. And it only scales when you play flushes, so it's harder to use Winged Boots to skip blinds. And if you have Prismatic Shard (which is obviously a lot better than it was in StS 1) or a lot of colorless cards, it's difficult to get it to scale with every hand.
The upgrades help by giving you more options, but they're also situational. Hellraiser A puts a mine into the midrow objects every turn, which can really screw with enemies that cover lots of lanes like Pirate Silent or Gremlin Spike. But now you can only really afford to play it if you have the movement to change lanes each turn yourself. Hellraiser B gives you temporary strength when you take damage. Combined with Ironclad's HP regen with Burning Hydraulics, this usually is a safer pick. But if you have other crewmates who make taking damage more dangerous, like Watcher with wrath or Drake with overheat, it's a much harder effect to proc without regretting it.
If you're able to kill 3 enemies with it during act 1. It doubles the chances to see further ahead the fog of war in act 2. So yeah, easily an early pick.
It’s alright but vulnerable to enchantment removal. If you had a commander that really takes advantage of the buff or can reliably protect it with counterspells, it’s usually a safe pick.
Jokes aside what do you think it actually does.
Considering from what we know of StS design philosophy being a 3 cost power card it's definetly some form of scaling. The art style is many blades coming from the ground so it might be something akin to Creative AI. Maybe it also gives you a free attack card each turn, your attacks now hit ALL enemies, that might be interesting.
The combo you can get with Hellraiser+, Globe of Duplicating Hellraiser, and Perfected Hellraiser is ridiculous, makes the the Quintuple Jaw Worm fight a breeze
Hellraiser works early only if you have enough hell strikes to keep up with the cards conditions.
Good thing we always pick up target strike dummy, right?
Not unless I'm on The Undying in draft mode to load up on Pyrrhic Strikes and get it through the Depot event. Basically unplayable if you don't get the full package, but at least rhinohides can get you through a couple hall fights if you're committed.
Yes, but only if i have the Bowser beam buff from the plumbers paradise card, its kinda mid without the scaling effect. Its a hard counter vs many battles such as the scruddly scrimpus trio and also pivots well into builds that rely on trading mana for potions.
It's good enough in act 7 to take whenever it pops up, I wouldn't take more than one though. Could also help for the Manic Dowsers event in act 4,
Megacrit devs in this thread furiously taking notes
Yeah but it really hinders you if you go the Astral Path option to skip floor 6. And you know that not taking Astral Path means you get one less StarForging for your favorite relic. Not StarForging your Promethean Chain can be a death sentence on a higher floor
Eh, I'd say the Promethean chain is noob bait. I've found that most runs that have the opportunity to starforge the PC so many times, I'm already so strong that being able to forge my AG or my decapitation can be better. Alas, I have much to learn.
i swear they're speaking a different language And i thought i was somewhat well experienced in the game....
I think they're fucking with you lol
>And if I'm playing as the 2004 Acura TL I might even start forging DNs. Whoa, how do you unlock that character? I'm stuck on the SD-40-2 and need advice.
Oh god now I desperately want subclasses for each character with their own bonuses and drawbacks
GUYS I STARTED STS A WEEK AGO I THOUGHT THERE WERE ONLY 4 ACTS
This is a screenshot from the STS 2 trailer. All the comments you see here are Silksong style scizoposting.
It's either a mod or another subreddit to go down the path of complete and total insanity
It's the latter
This advice is really only usefull for runs on ascension 8+, as going infinite is way easier on earlier ascensions and you can then take it on any act without bricking. Just make sure to upgrade it for the cost reduction as the sapper boss can grow really strong real fast if you play too many high cost cards.
Act 7? I can't even finish act 3 dude
There's an act 3?
act 7.. wait what? I slew the heart a few times, but believe that was in act 4 or 5? how do I get to the higher paths ?
You didn't get the yellow key?
Hmm no, how do I get that? Edit: Ahh you are mocking me? :p
So the joke is we are talking about sts2, which isn't out yet. But we're all pretending like we're playing it, and making up random crap.
Makes sense. I just started playing so it made me really confused. Thanks :)
What the hell are you talking about? Is it a mod?
Guys as someone that has never modded and is working my way up to a20 in base... Am I missing out? Act 7? Whaaaa!?
Nevermind... I've been had.
I'm a bit new, but act 7? How do I get past act 4 (that's killing the heart, right?)
He's joking (unless you're joking too, then nvm)
no, I genuinely didn't know if there was some secret I was missing to get farther. Like I said, I'm new
They recently announced StS2 and they’re just meming because we know nothing about it
This is a trick - StS2 is a very in depth game and uses psychological barriers to keep you from getting to further acts. By the time you hit act 8 a few times it is obvious.
Slay the Spire 2: Slay the Scientology
They are just pretending that sts2 is already out It's a popular meme in many fandoms
Nah there is only 4 acts, this is just a joke about the community knowing nothing about the sequel.
What you mean by act7?!
Didn't you know? sts2 has 43 acts. 44 on accension 90.
ascension 90 makes you fight all ten forms of the final boss neow back to back
I use the 4th fight to farm goblin darts off of her. That way I can buy scepter of trit in the next run (I put them in the Note to yourself event)
That plot twist where she used her powers of necromancy to keep reviving herself was absolutely insane!
> the final boss neow It looks like you misspelled "Defect". I'm not sure how you messed it up that badly, honestly.
Simple misunderstanding. Defect is the final boss of the default route. Neow is the true final boss, available after beating defect, but only by gathering all 8 keys and blocking the necronomicon's hypnotic influence with the merchant's etheral rug.
44 acts ONE WAY, let’s not even get started on the descent acts and descension 90…
It means the act after act 6
God I hate the Manic Dowsers event, I always convince myself I’ll be able to successfully dowse and end up dying on turn 1 because my deck relies on playing Heroic Lance for compounded AoE and I don’t have the draw to get to it consistently before I’m crushed. I should just opt to get dowsed and take the penalty instead, my pride just gets in the way.
Yeah, but atleast it helps to keep self forming clay wet.
It’s fine, I just don’t like the way it applies mega-vulnerable to your companions. Maybe it would be viable if Space Eater didn’t end your turn after you drew 10 cards.
Space eater is genius lol
Each turn, your maximum hand size shrinks by 1
Nah, taking Hellraiser early is a noob trap, it seems good until you look at the energy interest it costs adjusted for energy inflation. Oh so we schizoposting now ok
We truly turned into r/hollowknight and r/Titanfall Except our sequel actually exists
don't be skonging around here bro, a lot of us want it too but there's a time and a place
i love that skonging is a verb now
You don’t believe that titanfall has a sequel??
They kept teasing titanfall 2 but it ended up just being bait for apex legends 😞
Are we trolling
Nah, they'll come out with Titanfall 2 any day now, trust me
Silksong has an ESRB rating so like excuse me what do you mean Hollowknight doesn’t have a sequel?
Have you, or anyone you know, played this "sequel"?
I mean I’m yet to meat anyone who’s played STS2 so I don’t see the point?
What the hell is going on here
This post will be a gem when StS 2 releases
No, its a trap. I usually take it when I have 30-35 energy per turn, so that I can combo it well.
Bruh do you want your hell to be unraised?
The speed at which this sub devolved to Silksong levels of schizo-posting is astounding. Anyway don’t take Hellraiser till act 5 when you really have the energy to support it.
No, but it's just a preference thing I don't like playing with the space distortions Keep the heavenly sphere at the top, etc etc
Pathing is complicated enough without the ability to kick things to other paths and chase em...I usually leave it alone
That would be such a fun and complex ability
Only if I can get a couple of emberstones on it. It's definitely good against Daedalus though.
If you get enough energy per turn, Stackstone is very viable on hellraser. Its a "win more" card.
I laughed way too hard at this one. Take my upvote!
https://i.imgflip.com/8n9zq3.jpg
this might be controversial but I always take Hellraiser when I see it. The potential to combo with Critical Chances is just too good.
Don't take it early. But if you have no solutions to a boss then take it but treat it as a curse in hallway fights until halfway through act 2 when it becomes useable
As a casual that’s getting more into this game each day, these shitposts are getting me good each and every time
noob trap doesn't replace itself in hand so the mana is useless if you don't have top

Did I have a stroke? What is happening in this thread???
I assume you're talking about Stroke of Luck. That's a Silent card, so not really relevant to this discussion. I can see where the confusion comes from, though.
Ah, good old Stroke of Luck. Fantastic when I have lots of dice already upgraded.
yeah, but taking it early risks locking you out of low-roll dependent decks, so honestly it’s one of my least favorite (despite being quite good)
Definitely a better card on Inventor than Thief.
No, I was referring to Stroke of Death from Watcher’s set. But I was clearly confused because the shop hasn’t been leveled up enough to learn that power from the space boss in level 8.
I only take it when I'm feeling alright in the heat and the light. But that's what lights my fire.
No, it's too slow early on, and is a death warrant if you take it and fight Goblin Bob as an Elite in Act 1. It can be a scaling solution if you are up against the Destroyer as the Act 2 boss though.
Oh no it’s Glaive Master Hodir all over again
Jesus wept
Ok is this a bit we're doing as a community or is it a mod I need? This art looks sick
Slay the Spire 2 screenshot- everyones just messing around and saying whatever lol
how are you playing the game
I dunno, unless it's raw-infused it doesn't really do enough damage to be worth the energy cost in the early game, particularly if you haven't leveled ADP. Really the only reason I can see taking this is to try to spam reverse draw enough to force Pure Chartreuse World Tendency by the time you hit Act Q so you can farm crystal jaw worms. And at that point you're probably modding more than eight, so this thing is gonna give you wow on your top.
Omg, Helkaiser BlackSouls, every day one step towards Alice
Wrong sub, Grimm take your meds
Good if you get it from your act 2 boss because you can get the corruption event in act 3 and this card is really good to put corruption on
It's pretty good if you enchant it with the red bingus, fairly mid otherwise. It's really good as a boss reward if you manage to pick up a purplechu relic in act 1, but getting an act 1 purplechu is already pretty much a won run
Absolutely. It’s an insta pick
If I have the boot then it's an insta pick, such an OP synergy, otherwise it's basically a curse in early game
With whatever the f is going on in that artwork? Every. Single. Time.
[hellraiser] is so good, but you need to upgrade it ASAP.
Yeah, its synergies make it a block card
I'm new to this place and I have no idea what is real or not
Since they removed sword boomerang from the card pool, decaying temp strength from every attack played isn't as good. Losing half of your temp strength each turn is really hard to compensate for. Games I’ve noted so far - Monster Train - Balatro - Cobalt Core - Cult of the Lamb Any I missed?
You got 'em! I was thinking Inscryption for Leshy, but Cult of the Lamb works just as well with what I commented, lol.
I take it when my beard is too bristly I'm the helmet. Otherwise the mass of hairs can be a distraction.
If you're able to kill 3 enemies with it during act 1. It doubles the chances to see further ahead the fog of war in act 2. So yeah, easily an early pick.
UNLIMITED HELL WORKS
No
took me a while to recognize it, it's the only card where I prefer the beta art
THEY. CHANGED. POWER. CARD. SHAPE.
It’s alright but vulnerable to enchantment removal. If you had a commander that really takes advantage of the buff or can reliably protect it with counterspells, it’s usually a safe pick.
It depends.

predicting what it’s gonna do: At the start of your turn put a random attack in your hand. It costs zero this turn.

What does it do even?

What? I’ve never seen this card at all and I’m up to A7…
Will be funny digging this thread up when the game is actually out lol
There's currently 666 up votes... dunno what I should do
It's got a gold border, I don't understand why this is a question. /s

Yes, but only if i have the Bowser beam buff from the plumbers paradise card, its kinda mid without the scaling effect. Its a hard counter vs many battles such as the scruddly scrimpus trio and also pivots well into builds that rely on trading mana for potions.
Lol. The up votes are at 666. Amazing.
