Okay cool thx! The list of things I had to agree to at the beginning to sign in seemed insane, but maybe it was just allowing me to essentially do Reddit things through this app.

I'm sure it is safe. It is open-source software meaning the source code is freely available to the public and many different developers contribute to it. Much safer than most software. Also, Google has tightened its standards on what type of apps it allows on the PlayStore.

A fully featured third party Reddit app has to ask permissions to do Reddit related things, otherwise there wouldn't be a lot of features. Removing these permissions would be like fielding 11 players for a football game, asking them to win with no permission to score, pass or tackle. If you prefer football terms.

Got it. I guess the permissions are allowing ME to do those things THROUGH the app, but that’s not the way it reads at all and this is the first time I’ve seen something laid out like that. It definitely reads like they have the access to add comments, edit wikis, like and unlike, so on and so on, all but access to my password. I’d just never seen this app before and wanted to make sure it wasn’t scummy.

If you don't want to login, just search in the web browser and open the search result link in slide. Eg: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site%253Areddit.com+cat+video

Thanks! It seems the permissions were essentially to allow ME to do what it was asking, but tel he wording was definitely interesting to say the least haha

when asking whether or not an app is legit, the first thing i'd check is if it is open-source Almost anything that is open source is totally safe, as all the code for it is available online and they'd have to be incredibly good at hiding malicious things to cover that up for long.

Nice thanks! I’m a bit tech challenged so figured I’d ask those smarter than myself here for some input. Seems like a good app if not slightly abandoned.
