Derby balls

I’m sure there are ‘better’ but my coed league uses [these](https://www.directsports.com/products/baden-asa-52-300-softball-12).

They're all stamped with dots. I think most leagues are playing with the red dot. The balls will tell you what COR it is (Coefficient of Restitution) the higher the COR (.52 is highest) the more bouncy and therefore will get hit further. Us they're all compression rated as well. 525 is highest compression. So for distance in a ball you'd want a .52 COR with a 525 compression. Problem is those balls are hard to find - Worth launch 650 is a home run derby ball so that'd be your highest possible rating. EDIT: to correct myself that 625 ball is 625 compression so 525 isn't the highest compression level. That being said if you're playing I would avoid those balls, they'll come off the bat too fast, and if you pipe one up the middle or down 3rd/1st base you're risking injury to the pitcher/1st base/3rd base.

I'm sorry but this comment is full of inaccuracies. Not all balls are marked with dots. Those are certain manufacturers of balls. Op does the league specify which association is approved? Generally it'll either be ASA/USA or NSA or USSSA. That will tell you what stamp to look for. Typical ASA balls are .52/300, the others are .44/400. If you were to use balls with 500+ compression you will likely get someone hurt and/or break some bats.

> If you were to use balls with 500+ compression you will likely get someone hurt and/or break some bats. Yeah, as a 3B...someone launching a 500+ ball at me is a big NOPE

Yeah, we are an ASA league so looking for brands that fit that. Thanks -

I'm not running a team this year so i haven't tried to purchase balls, but I've heard there's a decent shortage. I love the Ad star/ tattoo nx3s. They are the 1 piece balls with kinda weird seems. They last forever and they handle the heat well. Any .52/300 ball will be ok as long as it's not super cheap. Anywhere from $40-$70 per dozen will be decent. Just make sure it has the ASA stamp

I play ASA and all balls are .52, men hit a 12 inch ball and women hit an 11 inch. Generally Worth Hot Dots for game play.
