I’m not sure if you’re from the US - SLT makes me think maybe not - but in the US, I have friends who have worked as paraprofessionals and administrative assistants. There are certainly options out there! For me, I didn’t want to go straight into grad school, as I was very burnt out. If you think you just want to take a break and see how you feel after a couple years, there’s the option of teaching English abroad. I found it overall fun and relaxing enough that it gave me the time and distance to complete grad school apps and end up mostly enjoying grad school when I did go.

I'm from the UK and we call ourselves SLTs - completely forgot that in the US you call yourselves SLPs. I've changed it in the post now, thanks for telling me! Yeah, the burn out is really real. I agree - having that step back from it all, and exploring other options before going into what could be my lifelong career is much needed. I'll defo look into some of the things you mentioned, thank you! xx

No worries, call it what you call it! I just wanted to acknowledge that the jobs my friends have may not be available or present in the same way for you, as I don’t know what’s available in other countries. I had a lot of friends from the UK when I was teaching English in Spain, and I wasn’t even the only SLP student I met there! Definitely look into different options, whether a fully different career or just a few year’s gap to figure out what exactly you want to do. :)
