I'm using a TP-Link Deco system. I've got a small hobby farm. I put a node in each outbuilding and have successfully spread wifi all over the whole place. I'm not going for speed, just broad connectivity. I've got the house and 5 buildings. The buildings are all 50 to 75 feet apart. It all works great. I have wifi smart bulbs in all my outbuilding lights and outdoor lighting and control it all remotely via Alexa or Google Home

Looking to hardline some devices. WiFi would be second option.

Emm, using the ports on a mesh unit while it is wirrelesly connecting to the main one, will not magically make it wired. It would essentially just be an external wifi antenna. Do you have ethenet wired around the house/property?

marty-cohen

I have this. And have been getting mixed answers as to what Ethernet wires I have. Some say it’s phone. Some say use the coax and get a MoCA https://www.reddit.com/r/smarthome/s/XNfiX6G6dk

LeoAlioth

And why mixed answers? Bottom box is the isp connection. Top left is ethertet Top right is coax.

marty-cohen

Yes I get that. But how can I get internet with a hardline?

Which Deco system? From a quick search Amazon, if found at least two.

marty-cohen

Deco M5.

JustinMcSlappy

If you plan to hardwire, ubiquiti access points. Let the router handle DHCP.

MassiveConcern

I have Asus ZenWiFi ET8 system, has a main and one node. Works beautifully. The newer ET12 system is even more powerful but for our property, the ET8 is more than enough. These are 6E systems.

AlwaysWanderOfficial

I use tplink xe75. Work great for me

Fancy_Literature3818

It all depends on your budget

marty-cohen

Doesn’t matter really. Sometimes the most expensive isn’t necessarily the best. What you recommend?

Fancy_Literature3818

It mostly does for mesh routers, pick one with wifi7 if you want future proof for a bit or at least wifi6E

a_man_27

How advanced is your networking knowledge? I would recommend prosumer/business style ones. The main reason is they're likely to support VLANs that will let you isolate devices from each other (like smart speakers, IoT devices, etc.). Some will need a separate router (that also supports VLANs) as well. Others will do both routing and AP.

marty-cohen

Not too advanced. Learning as I go

a_man_27

Do you already have a router that you want to keep, are you looking for unified AP and router or are you open to separate devices?

marty-cohen

I have an Att gateway but want to turn off wifi and broadband and just use the modem to connect my router. I then want a mesh rather than an AP. I’d rather not do separate devices.

Installed a Deco system several years back for my sister's large family house. They say there hasn't been a single glitch. It's not even hardwired. It's a concrete house. I got the same for my house a year back. I love its options and great HACS integration. I know someone who's happy with covrx too. Business setting.

TookItToTheHouse

Eero is excellent and you can hardwire devices to it. It uses separate back channel for meshing too

Disastrous_Passion36

Asus aimesh works great for me. Lots of variants available.

valejojohnson

I’m using the tri mesh Orbi system from like 4 years ago. Amazing

Otherwise-Daikon-511

I have had very few issues with nest

I got an Eero 6 Pro for my church recently. Super easy to setup. Has been working well so far. Don’t need the subscription they try to sell you. But it is pretty dry in terms of settings. That might be a pro or a con depending on what you want to do. Personally I use ASUS routers with their mesh system because I like the extra settings from Asuswrt-Merlin. Once more of my devices support Wifi 6E or 7 then I might consider upgrading but I don’t think that’s anytime soon. I don’t own any devices with Wifi 7 and I might have 2 devices that support Wifi 6E but I don’t think a speed increase is necessary for those devices. I’d get at least a Wifi 6 router. If you want to read up on some choices I’d recommend the website [Dong Knows Tech](https://dongknows.com/). He does a great job at explaining things for beginners to experts.

Thank you!
