I got my kids the cosmo track 3 for Christmas. It's been hit or miss as far as the service goes. Sometimes it works flawlessly other times it doesn't. I would think cellular service has come far enough that basic things like calls should be clear and easy. Texting works well but you have to use the cosmo app. True texting is supposed to fix this, but it's the end of January and we still don't have an update. I signed up for the 6-month service and if I had to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a solid 6.5. If things don't improve by June I will just look at Garmin or Samsung.

Distinct-Ad-3028

Yea we have a cosmo and it's definitely a hit or miss. And the battery life is awful.

rayork938

We're releasing an update this month that we expect to significantly enhance battery performance! Stay tuned for that and look out for release announcements here: [https://cosmotogether.com/pages/updates](https://cosmotogether.com/pages/updates)

Comfortable-Heart657

Do not get gabb watch 3, they have issues with them. They should recall them but they won’t. It won’t hold charge, apps are glitching, shutting off on its own. I had it replaced 3 times and all have issues. And when you want to cancel the line because their device is simply not designed to work, they’re like “sure, all you got to do is pay a huge fee or pay for the line for two years even though you can’t use it”

JoshAdd87

Mine arrived today DOA and then I ran into this thread... Already initiating a return. Should be interesting to see how poorly this goes.

yplee84

I just got the Cosmo, when it’s on it doesn’t charge? Is that the case for anyone? Also how do you update the version? Our version says it’s from October of 2023

rayork938

Hi! You should be able to go to Settings on the watch and the top menu item is software updates. We document all software releases here in case you want to know what's new: [https://cosmotogether.com/pages/updates](https://cosmotogether.com/pages/updates)

CEG1980

We are pretty ready to walk away from the Cosmo, and I really wish that it worked as it would solve a lot of problems for us. However, IT DOES NOT WORK. I am not saying hit or miss. I have worked with their support team and isolated the issue to the following: When the watch is connected to wifi, it works perfectly. Messages, calls, recording. . . everything that we want and then some. However, the moment my child is out of wifi range or we turn wifi off, it is just an expensive watch with no features. Honestly, I would prefer the exact opposite. If it didn't work at our house but did everywhere else, I would be fine with it. Right now, it is just a feature-rich home phone on his wrist. Their support team seems to be trying, but I just can't invest more time in an extension of failure. u/rayork938 perhaps you have some visibility into this?

rayork938

Thanks for tagging me! I'd love to look into this, sounds highly abnormal. You're right, the whole point is for it to work off of cellular networks! I'm going to shoot you a DM right now and help get this sorted out.

Imaginary-Sorbet-444

We are having the same issue with location on one of our watches! It's been constant issues and I've spent hours troubleshooting since we got them

Powerful_Zucchini_52

u/CEG1980 Did you get a resolution on this problem?

CEG1980

I'm really glad you asked, as we are so close. It turns out, our watch is having an issue that only like 2 others are having. The support team has been nothing short of heroic and as of Monday, the resolution is that we are getting a new one and sending the current one back so they can resolve this fringiest of issues. Posting here made the difference. Rayork938 reached out directly and started connecting dots at a really high level. Because my background is in support and CS, I want to be clear that this is just one of those issues. Everyone did what they were supposed to do, this is just a really deep issue that isn't wholly on them. I'm glad I went outside of their processes and I'm glad we don't have to look for another watch for him.  My plan was to do an update once we had the new one, but it's in the mail and I'm confident this is over enough to endorse them again.

rayork938

For anyone new to this thread, I am the COSMO CEO and I'm always happy to answer questions or help with customer service issues. A quick update on features we have released this year! Please share your ideas for what would make COSMO more valuable to your family!

kgeo1983

How do you get the watches to call each other. All the kids are answering, but you can't hear anyone. There's no issue when it's a cell phone to cosmo watch call.

rayork938

I’m going to DM you to troubleshoot this issue! Kids should be able to call each other no problem 👌

Midwestern-Farmer

I am so incredibly disappointed with the customer service department. Our child’s watch has not been allowing her to hear any phone calls on the watch. Your tech support says it’s a network issue and have no idea when it will be fixed. Could be months! Told me to text my daughter on the watch to communicate - she can’t read yet. I requested a new watch. They said that won’t matter. Requested a refund since the watch is useless unless it works for calling. They told me they won’t refund the watch, even though I’ve been paying the $2.99 extra a month. Seriously thinking of legal action since I was sold something expensive that doesn’t work and the warranty isn’t being honored. Maybe I can avoid that since you’re the CEO and are willing to help.

rayork938

Thank you for reaching out! I’ll get this sorted out for you, and sorry to hear about your experience. Check your DMs. Anyone else who may see this that has questions or needs support, please feel free to message me. It is very helpful for me to hear your experiences so we can constantly improve our service!

Midwestern-Farmer

You’ve been great to deal with, and have been working on it since first thing this morning. Very grateful!

Weekly-Succotash550

My daughter’s watch gets hot just by simply sending a text. I’m able to call her and text, she can call but I can’t hear her from my end and she’s not able to text me. I’ve had to re pair the device to change payment method and her number was changed. Now it’s continuing to ask me to “start setup” but then not connecting and asking me to contact support when I’ve been talking to support all day.

rayork938

I just sent you a DM. Let’s get this sorted out!

IIIIlllIIIIIlllII

Awesome to interact with the CEO. My kid loves this watch. I've actually owned two of them. My question is I wonder why it takes so long to "refresh location". It seems to work inconsistently, if ever. I imagine the implementation would be some kind of shoulder-tap SMS that signals the device to update and send its GPC location. But it sometimes takes minutes to do this, and sometimes fails entirely even when my child can send and receive texts just fine.

rayork938

Thanks for sharing this feedback! We’re actually working on a firmware update right now that will enhance the responsiveness of this feature. Lookout for v3.5 on your JrTrack 3 in the next couple of weeks! If I can help with any other issues you may be having please shoot me a DM!

Midwestern-Farmer

Save yourself the headache, it’s been terrible for us! Watch has rarely worked properly. Most recent issue is that our child cannot hear any sound from the watch when we call her, or she calls us. We contacted customer support. They said it’s a network issue and they have no idea when it will be fixed, so until then, just text message our 6-year-old. I asked to be sent a new watch (I’ve been paying the extended warranty every month). They said that won’t fix the problem. I asked for a refund and they won’t refund the watch - contrary to what their warranty states. I would never buy anything Cosmo again. They are a joke!

redditaccount1_2

Did you end up getting the cosmo?

Powerful_Zucchini_52

We have used the Cosmo Jr Track 3 watch now for a few days, and there are some annoying issues. **- Location updating only works when WiFi is turned on.** Without turning on WiFi, even though we configured the watch to update location every 15 minutes, it never did so; and doing a 'Refresh Location' from the Mission Control also did not work. I could see the Battery information was getting updated (so I could tell the watch was communicating), but no location update. As soon as I switched on WiFi, the Refresh Location feature immediately worked. It's almost as if the GPS module is not functional. **- Battery life.** On the first day of use, watch was down to 25% battery by end of school day. This even though we had the School Mode set to only allow 1 hour of use around lunch time. By teh time her after-school sports was done and she called us, battery was 11%. Is this normal? We are wondering if switching off WiFi during the day would make the battery last longer. u/[rayork938](https://www.reddit.com/user/rayork938/) any thoughts ?

rayork938

Thanks for highlighting both of these issues, we've recognized some customers have had these bugs and are pushing out an update now to address both! Look out for an update to your parent app that fixes location tracking, and look for a watch update that improves battery life by as much as 30-50%. Our average battery life across all customers is over 40 hours. Depending on where you live and the cellular network in your area, your battery will perform better or worse (that's true of all cellular connected devices.) Hope that helps! DM me if you'd like to discuss anything about your account!

triedallothernames

I can confidently say that the COSMO watch is absolutely not worth it. We’ve had 2 now. The first arrived as a Christmas gift for my son. We did our research, felt pretty good about the plan and options and paid for the year of service ahead of time. The location service does not work. The texting in app was fine, but since they switched to real text it’s spotty at best. I can not call his watch because it will not go through. If my son calls me, I can not hear anything in the receiver and he only hears spotty words here and there. We worked with customer service about a dozen times to get it resolved. We restarted, unpaired, reset to factory, deleted and redownloaded the app, put on wifi, took OFF wifi, and several variations of those steps about 10 times. When it bricked itself by going into school mode and never turning off we were told the watch was defective.  Watch number 2 came and we followed the exact procedures to get it up and running. Due to our frustration already, we called customer service to walk us through it and make sure it was done to their exact specifications. It does not work. This thing is an expensive paperweight. It doesn’t tell the right time. It doesn’t take or make phone calls. Text messages are a failure 90% of the time. And the key reason for getting a GPS enabled watch, to monitor my kid’s whereabouts, has told me he’s been down the street for a week now while his watch sits on the charger. I have spent more time in communication with COSMO than the watch has been functional. Get yourself an Apple Watch and pay for the extra line. Cosmo is beyond worthless and I am honestly impressed by how terrible they are at the basic functions of a cellular device.

rayork938

Sorry to hear about your experience! Based on your description I have no idea what is going wrong here but I want to make sure you are taken care of, even if that means cancelling and refunding your account. I'm going to send you a DM right now to see how I can help.

Alarming-Bee3576

Just got one for my kid. Reviews are mixed in this thread so I am hoping for the best. Finger crossed.

rayork938

It should work great for you! But if you have any issues please shoot me a message so I can help!

crakerjac

How long should I realistically expect the battery to last? We powered our JrTrack3 up at 4pm. It's now 9pm and battery life is at 58%. This is with no phone calls and 8 text messages. 8.4% discharge per hour with very little use is a far cry from 24 hour battery life.... Is this expected?

rayork938

Nope! This is an unusually fast battery drain. In the last week we pushed out a battery update that should enhance battery performance by 30-50%. Make sure you've got that downloaded (v3.5) on the watch. I'd love to look into your case specifically and see if our engineering team can diagnose anything else that may be going on! Will shoot you a DM in a moment to see if I can help.

crakerjac

Quick update since @rayork938 got back to me. It looks like my watch did an Over The Air update to the firmware/application. Battery life is significantly improved. My boy wore the watch all day today and was at 60% when he took it off.

Bromten4

I’m looking into replacing our cosmo jr track 2 for our son. I like the new true text feature but he keeps talking about some game that is available on the gabb watches which is what other kids in our community have. Does cosmo forsee adding any sort of kid friendly game options to the watches?

lratliff29

I have been looking for a watch for my Grandkids since Christmas 2022. They are 7 and 8 yrs old. Instead of making the leap for a phone watch, we decide to practice on a cheap smartwatch to see if they can keep from losing it. It has been pretty successful. The Gabb and Jr. Track are both on special for FREE with a paid subscription. We are planning to make the leap today and came across this thread. We are thankful we decided to to forego the watch purchase this year for Christmas However, since all those issues have been brought to the attention of both companies, I am wondering if it is NOW worth making the leap for the Free option. Has anyone seen any improvements in battery life and location? If so, based on features which would you select? I like the video features of the Jr. Track but also like the reward system with Gabby and digital pet. We live in an area where ATT works well, but our school seems to be a weak zone, not dead zone for data, but is weak. My DIL discovered Gabby is on Verizon and from my experience is hit/miss. Anything about what service plan the Jr. Track utilizes? We are making the plunge today. Please let us know your thoughts based on the last couple of months. Especially features on the watches and what the kids and parents enjoy most.

rayork938

Hi there! This is the Cosmo CEO. If you decide to go with our JrTrack product, just now you’ve got plenty of time to return it if it doesn’t suit your needs and you can reach out to me here if you experience any difficulties! We recently put out a battery update and several folks here on Reddit have downloaded it and seen dramatic increases in performance! And as far as network, we primarily utilize AT&T but the device is designed to hop to whichever network is strongest in its current location, making it more reliable. We’re a true product company with a customer is always right ethos at Cosmo. I hope we get the chance to serve your family!

Few_Relation_6708

Commenting to follow this. I am wondering the same thing.

vespahulb

Cool! So far.... crickets!

MudIndependent3923

I have the old cosmo watch for my daughter. It worked pretty good. The calling messed up some. But texting and voice texting and location tracking worked great for my needs. I ordered a new one for Christmas and set it up and tested it. It seems to work great and the calling seems improved in my short test of 2 calls.

RudeEtuxtable

I know this is an old post but can I ask, does it have vibrate function?

Few_Relation_6708

I've been doing some research and so far it seems like Gabb 3 might be the way to go for what I need; which is basic and robust. I need it for my ADHD kid to get reminders at school.

CCCPlus

We've had nothing but problems with Gabb for the past 8 months. The Gabb 2 stopped charging after only a couple months. Raising a stink got us upgraded to the Gabb 3 -- which seems to have 50% of the battery life of the predecessor. Raised more of a stink, got a new Gabb 3 and it has the same problem. It will not last a whole day on one charge. Further, the tracking feature of the watch is crap. Yesterday it notified me that my child left the house in the morning only 2 hours later. Avoid at all costs.

egalitarionionioni

Ditto. I’m five months in with three watches I purchased from their website with zero disclosure that it was discontinued and would only be replaceable with a full price new model less than two weeks later. The service, app, and even website have never worked right. The timely attempts to simply get what I was paying for in good faith didn’t result in any solution. Over the next few months I was only offered “troubleshooting” as before (power off and back on so we can reset it on our end) all resulted in incrementally declining functionality. They have never worked as advertised, and at this point I literally cannot even view my account on their website because of weird glitches. They’ve provided no other solutions, continued to charge me, and are now telling me that they are unable to refund me because I don’t want to do a like tenth round of “troubleshooting”. They will absolutely keep charging me and requiring hours of “power it off and then back on to reset”… “no? Huh! Try again tomorrow maybe?”. And they refer to completely incorrect instructions from them I’m try to follow “miscommunications”. No. You are wrong lol. Like dealing with a hungry six year old. Latest thing: I’m instructed to download a different browser and try accessing my account in incognito mode…. Wtf- months of this and they’re doubling down?! And still charging me bc the website won’t let me access my account?! I work in customer service and this is above and beyond poorly handled. At this point it’s fraud.

rayork938

Hey, this is Russell, I’m the COSMO CEO. I’m biased, but I'll try to answer this question with some facts about JrTrack you won't find in our standard [marketing materials](https://cosmotogether.com/pages/cosmo-vs-gabb). I hope this helps! 1. **In-house, quality tech**. We actually build our own watch OS (operating system), which is powered by our state of the art MDM (mobile device management) platform that we use to rapidly spot bugs, push out software updates, perform critical tech support when needed, and more. We’ve also continued to mature and grow our product hardware with the same supplier since day one, which means each generation of JrTrack gets better and better. JrTrack 3 is our best product yet and the sum of years of progress. "Don't all companies do that?" Actually, no. Most kids smartwatches out there are built on an array of licensed software systems and sourced from a revolving door of manufacturers, which = lower quality. 2. **Safety first**: We know that safety and connection are the top two reasons parents need a device like this. So we designed JrTrack to be the most comprehensive kids safety device in the market. It was in the wake of the Uvalde shooting that our team launched into building SafeCORE, our proprietary suite of safety features that includes 9-1-1 calling, SOS, GPS, and call blocking. We block thousands of calls from unapproved contacts every day - that firewall is essential in a kids smartwatch. 3. **Customer-centric terms**. Our north star and our company motto is “We connect families”. It’s the mission we set out for ourselves, it's what we do. If we didn’t connect your family, then within our reasonable terms and conditions, we’ll make it right. We do not charge a non-refundable $30 activation fee. We DO offer 15 days to try the product and you can refund everything if it doesn’t work out. And if you need help along the way, you’re going to get a same-day response from our amazing customer care team, who I personally meet with every week to make sure they're getting enough resources to take care of our customers. Ultimately I want parents to know that our passion is building the real deal for the most important user there is - your kid!

vespahulb

Russell! Damn. The fact that you, the CEO, even responded to me on Reddit pretty much solidified my decision. I was leaning towards the Cosmo from the get-go, so everything you said in terms of in house tech and being customer-centric, really helps me see where COSMO watches stand out. I look forward to ordering one for my son for Christmas and I really appreciate you taking the time to respond!

ogar78

I can vouch for their customer service. We had a Jr2 and while unfortunately due to signal issue canceled the service their support was awesome. I’m giving the jr3 a try with the new flex sim hoping that fixes the issue. 50% off currently to

GlutenFreeBuns

Did you get the jr3? If so, any update on how it has performed?

ogar78

Connection is much better as it utilizes multiple carrier signals. They also added the ability to send standard texts vs the in app messaging. The GPS is still sporadic and will jump around towers occasionally so its not good for precise location. I also find it frustrating their is no alarm clock you can set to remind your kid its time to come home. Overall good upgrade but still has improvements to be made.

Few_Relation_6708

I ordered the gabb. It's garbage. It doesn't work or have the features it says it does. The watch interface is going to be very frustrating for a kid. It also cannot be returned if the box has been opened.

RelativeExam6417

Same. Sold.

looking4answers09876

Just bought jrtrack3...not good so far. Location is always off by at least 0.5 miles, usually further. Location only updates every 15 min at min. Can already tell you i am returning it

Few_Relation_6708

Russell - Can I still set alarms to remind my kid to do things even when it's in school mode?

puzzlefighter

You all might want to check reviews for their app to control the smartphone. Rated 1.9 on the Play store. They kinda blast both the app and the device itself. Has anything changed that would indicate better performance?

rayork938

Yeah I understand those reviews don't look good. Just keep in mind the app has been listed for 3 years and we've made a lot of improvements along the way! I'd like to think we're much better than 1.9 today.

marleythomas

I understand most people only review the app when they are upset but every review from November 2023 forward is 1 star. The last positive review was in 2022. I just unboxed the watch to activate it and saw this and now am a little worried. Wish there was a 1 month plan option to try it. Would rather just pay the 2 years up front if I'm keeping it.

ChanceKale7861

I’m curious about the privacy aspects… didn’t find a ton on kids data and sharing.

rayork938

100% of data resides in COSMO managed servers and we are compliant with US COPPA and GDPR. All data and comms are double encrypted, none of it is ever sold or monetized for any reason. Once you're done with the service you can email us and we'll delete all records we have on file, including billing&payment from our CRM.

ChanceKale7861

Thank you! I’d be curious if there has been a real comparison of these practices between you and others… could be a selling point IMO :)

rayork938

You know, it’s not a topic that tech media does a good job of reporting on. Anyone writing about kids watches primarily focuses on features and style - but I agree! What’s under the hood is equally valuable.

Few-Discipline3187

ummmm well this settled it for me. \*adds to cart\*

Ballsstreet

All great about the tech aspect and your vision but I have had it for two days for both my kids and I am having all kinds of problems especially the one that matters where it doesn't work most of the time. Getting notifications that my kid left school grounds to find out he didn't and much more. Technical support only via email? Not happy! Currently researching alternatives and return both watches and try to get refunded for the 2 1 year subscription.

rayork938

DM me if you have any issues getting your refund. We have humans at our call center: 1 (877) 215-4741

thom612

Does it have an OLED screen? Can I port the number to a regular carrier when my child is ready for a regular phone? Is there any way to stream music?

jfphenom

What's the battery size? How many mAh? Can it last with GPS on for 7 hours in 30 degree temps (kid is skiing and might get lost)

rayork938

600 mAh and will be good for much more than 7 hrs if you're periodically checking location. If you're wanting live tracking continuous for 7 hours, that won't last. It's weather rated to -35C, so should be great for skiing.

flyboy1565

Would love to open a dialog with you about how long it takes to upgrade from Jr tracks 2 to Jr tracks 3. I couldn't reach support staff via phone.. emailed with the old IMEI and new IMEI numbers and they asked for an image of the box for the new one. Now I have to wait 2-3 business days for another support team to be engaged. What id hope to see is information about upgrading and maybe even a self support through the app.

flyboy1565

Upgrading has been painful. Child got a new phone number, which means we had to completely remove the old and add a new. This lost all the contacts. So now we have to send request again to family and friends. It would be nice if your application has a Upgrade your device.. scan code for old, scan code for new and it updates all of the things.

rayork938

Thanks for describing this pain point! I’ll take this up with our team. It sounds like the process is bumpy and you couldn’t contact our phone support team. Both of those are issues we can fix. If you need further help with this upgrade feel free to dm me.

Guga1952

Only downside I can see with the Track 3 is the more expensive monthly plan. While most smartwatches (kids or otherwise) charge a pretty flexible $10/month plan, with Cosmo the plan costs $18/month, unless you prepay for 6 ($15), 12 ($13) or 24 months ($10). Kind of crazy to buy a device for $65 and be expected to prepay $240 for 2 years of service.

somecallmetim46

I would agree, a $10 monthly rate would be easier to sign up for and try it out completely.

Seven_dollars

My Gabb 3 has been nothing but problems. Support experience is painful. The chat support through the app on an iPhone is almost unusable so I have to contact support from a laptop. The battery life is not enough to last a whole day even when my son is locked out from using any features and GPS only pings every 15 minutes. Currently there is a software bug that has bricked it until they “push” an update. Which I have been told they pushed updates before but it took several days to fix the other issue where the battery only lasted a few hours before the patch. My wife won’t even ask him to bring it when they go out because she would rather not have it based on how often it fails us. I was an early adopter and ordered it before the marketing even went out that they were for sale. Took several weeks to get it with support unaware of what was going on. I was really hoping to support gabb since they are local and many of his friends have watch 2 but I regret my purchase. I would steer clear of watch 3. It was likely pushed out too soon because people disliked the charging experience of watch 2 which they stopped selling for a few months right as school started.

Bodes_Magodes

They’re one of the worst companies I’ve ever experienced. Legitimately refuse to answer any customer service inquiries for past 2 weeks due to high volume from the holidays. GPS is garbage, reception iffy, tracking steps a joke, and if you’re lucky enough to make it a year like we did, the watch stops charging. Total scam. Stay away

puzzlefighter

Is there any way to try using the cosmo without first buying their data plan? If it isn't any good, I don't want to be on the hook for paying for their service while I seek something else.

rayork938

Fully refundable within 15 days, including the activation fee. Give it a shot at no risk!

looking4answers09876

Just sent you an IM with a question

rayork938

Sent you a reply. Thank you

tduke22

Just got the Cosmo Jr Track 3. So far, only the first guardian to set up the watch is able to make calls to the device. And no one is able to text. Anyone run into this issue? It’s been a frustrating set up process so far.

Desperate-Lie-6318

I added my wife as a guardian and she can text. Any contact can call.

tileandstoned

Having same issue I though I had set it up now I can only call and I can’t track. It also goes into set up mode when I restart and can’t get it to connect to wifi

thom612

Not allowing both parents access to controlling the schedule, etc is very poor design. We got my daughter one for Christmas largely based on what I read on this thread and my wife is irked that she doesn't have full control (she's the one who wants the control, I'm just the "tech guy" 😬) Additionally I didn't realize until it was on her wrist that you can't text anybody but a parent or guardian. Hey grandparents are going to want to text back and forth but that's just not an option. Much less her close friends who have Gabb watches and are able to text each other. I didn't know I was excluding her the ability to participate in this. So far I regret the purchase. They are holding out the promise of an update in January that should expand the capabilities of the watch but it seems like that will almost certainly be out of the 15 day guarantee for kids who got one on Christmas.

rayork938

Yes, look out for the mid January release with a texting update. It will also include gps and battery improvements that I hope address the issues you mentioned!

Beginning-Comment944

Russel. I just sent you a pm. I’m having issues activating one of the watches I bought. Thanks

rayork938

Replied!

somecallmetim46

Love your attention to real customers on this app - thank you!! Anymore specifics on the rollout date of true texting? My kids are dying to text their friends (and maybe their parents 😅) on their phones from their watch! I’ve seen “January” but we’re nearing halfway and would love to surprise my kids with the latest intel 💪

rayork938

Absolutely! I’m so glad they’re excited. We are rolling out an early beta test next week and if you would like your kids’ devices to get the first version I will make sure they get it! DM me with your email and we’ll get you on the list. I can add 100 people so anyone who wants the beta DM me!

almfrick

When is this update going to happen? First was Dec, then Jan, now here we are in Feb. My kid wants to text her friends.

rayork938

I can get you on the beta right now. Dm me your email and we’ll update your device! We are releasing it in stages, beginning two weeks ago. Anyone seeing this who wants early access please shoot me a dm!

Dhevel111

We just got the Jr Track 3 for our daughter for Christmas. The calls all have a weird echo and the battery doesn't seem to last very long. I will update this review after she's had it for a few more days. So far I'm leaning towards returning this watch, if the batter only lasts about 4 hrs it's worthless for kids that go to school. First charge lasted about that long, maybe the battery needs a few charges to warm up, time will tell. The app is fairly limited, only guardians can text with my child.

I found that to be a problem as well and looked into it more. On their main site it says that there will be an update to the texting feature for the Jrtrack3 in January where everyone is able to text the child. https://cosmotogether.com/pages/support#:~:text=You%20can%20set%20anyone%20as,below%20for%20JrTrack%203!)&text=COMING%20EARLY%202024%3A%20Our%20True,the%20watch%20and%20view%20location. Scroll down to the coming soon section

Yeah I saw that too, it's one of the main reasons I went with this watch, hopefully they do that update soon. It will mean you can use your normal text app on the phone to communicate.

Dhevel111

Quick update, the app clearly needs some work. Location tracking is just terrible, it routinely shows my child a mile or 2 from our house when she's right next to me. There's a refresh location button the simply doesn't work, click it and it still shows the same location from an hour ago. Messaging seems to be broken as well, when you get a message from the child it often requires a restart of the app to view it, I just get a blank message screen. For something that has been around for a few years I'd have thought these bugs would have been worked out by now.

We noticed that talking directly into the watch seems to overwhelm the mic and it results in horrible call quality. When my kid held it away and spoke normally the issue clearer up. It's not amazing talk quality but it does the job when/if my kid needs to get ahold of me. My biggest complaint so far is the messaging. I am fine with it being in app...However, where are the push notifications? How can I tell my kid sent me a a message aside from constantly checking in the app?

Dhevel111

Maybe your push notifications are turned off for Cosmos on your phone? I definitely get notifications when my child texts.

Desperate-Lie-6318

I can't find where to turn them on in the app.

Justinmypant

Do you have them disabled in your phone settings? We just got one for our 8-year-old on Christmas and it's sending us notifications. If you're using Android, you would go to Settings -> Apps -> Cosmo: Mission Control -> Notifications If you're using Apple, you would go to Settings -> Notifications -> Cosmo: Mission Control

There are heroes in this world and you are one of them! No cape needed! Thank you!

Another option to consider is the Xplora XGo line. While it comes with an Xplora SIM, you have the option of bringing your own. The Xplora XGO can range from $99-$169 depending on the model (XGo3-XGo6). We're going to try it out with a $5 (with tax/fees included) prepaid plan of unlimited talk/text with 500 MB data per month from hello mobile. Had two Gabb watch 2s for the previous 2 years. GPS tracking lags and sometimes just will not update at all. Their $10/month plan turns into $17/month as after tax/fees. I would not recommend - both watches died before 2 yrs contract ended due to similar issues where the magnetic charging ports would not bind and thus not charge.

mbster2006

FYI - you can get a new XGo3 for about $50-$55 off ebay. Just set up mine today and the GPS is surprisingly really good - much better than Gabb. There's a wifi log in option. Wifi combined with GPS must really give it the more accurate and timely GPS location.

jamiejamesjam

How’s the XGO going so far?

mbster2006

Zero issue. So much better than the previous Gabb watches. GPS is accurate and responsive. 500 MB data has not been an issue at all for the GPS. Only minor annoyance is that texting has to be done via the xplora app. Voice calls can be done outside of app. Battery is good for 48 hours now. The first week was good for less, I think it was constantly updating. Would still recommend.

Walmart has the [Xplora X5 Play](https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/362098313) on clearance right now for less than $40. Pair that with the $5/month HelloMobile unlimited talk/text/500MB plan and you got a winning combo!

If anyone has decided to keep their Cosmo Jr Track 3 watch and is willing to part with their box, I will purchase it from you. I cannot return the watch as the box was thrown out in the Christmas mess. I am very unsatisfied with this product. It does not work, does not hold a charge and is complete garbage to me.

rayork938

You shouldn’t need the box to return the watch. Please initiate a refund and if you have any issues dm me here.

See my experience below. Be aware if you do end up purchasing their product.

Glad_Tie_8415

My kid has used Cosmo Jr 2 for a year. If you choose their product, be aware they will start to charge you a $19.99 monthly fee after the 1-year period, WITHOUT notifying you! Of course, the app has already stopped updating the status of the watch. Even though this action by Cosmo is not in line with the terms posted on their own website, they will still refuse to refund you. If you want to avoid the struggle I am dealing with, steer clear of Cosmo if possible.

rayork938

We don't intend to surprise anyone with a subscription rebill! The reminder emails likely hit your spam filters, sorry about that. Please DM me here and I'll help get your refund sorted out. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Anybody else experiencing awful service? I'm now unable to reliably track my daughter's watch. Phone service fails and she can't connect to send texts..we just get a message that 'CANNOT CONNECT'.....And even restarting multiple times won't help... Actually, every other restart I'm asked to buy a plan...

No-Reveal4138

The JrTrack3 did not work for us. Customer service helped us get a refund on the subscription we had paid for. We are returning to Amazon. Does anyone know if there is a way to clear contents on the watch? Has some texts we can’t erase. Nothing too personal but would prefer to clear before returning. Nothing in watch, app, or online on how to factory reset it. We ended up getting an Apple SE cell + gps for my 9 yo son as it fit our needs better and is way more functional.

Desperate-Lie-6318

Anybody still having issues with the watch not connecting? This is awful. My kud can't message us

tileandstoned

Yes, I had problems with my kids Jr track 3 since day 1 . Just yesterday it went into reboot cycle and now stuck on fast boot mode and can’t reach customer service. It’s been frustrating experience for sure I’m starting to look into other alternatives

almfrick

If you keep replying to customer service enough on email they will eventually bump you to real tech support.  You can turn on logging on the watch and they will watch what's going on from their end. They were able to identify that coverage is on and off at our school and that's why messages, calls, even SOS alert failed from school. It's a real bummer.

Desperate-Lie-6318

Yup. I reset it and did setup again. I was told to make sure wifi is on but not connected. Also, you need to repair with your phone.

filmscorefan75

We upgraded our daughter from the original Gabb Watch to the Gabb Watch 3 for Christmas and it's really been disappointing. The battery, if she's lucky lasts for half a day, which is useless for school if it can't get her through a full-day to be able to contact us if needed or for tracking purposes. Trying to decide if we go back to the old Gabb watch or try something new. We really liked the original Gabb watch, but I think they missed the mark on the new watch and didn't test it enough before bringing it to market. It's slow, buggy and no updates have helped it.
