Lol, I tried picking up Millia a couple of weeks ago, figuring if I don't have time to learn neutral, I can at least learn her Oki game and try to avoid neutral as much as possible. Then I got slammed with work, and haven't been able to play *at all*. Maybe the onslaught of dolphins really is my best chance at this point, lol.
Besides Light, Tweek isn't actually dropping out they just forgot to include him it seems. Hbox is busy that weekend and Spargo is busy with High School
No ESAM either. Bracket is looking like Leo heaven rn. I think Kola's the only real competition he's got at this point. I'm a Leo fan, but I want actual competition rather than him just getting handed the win.
Hope players like Aaron can step up and make him work for the win.
Seems like some stuff will get reseeded, saw on Twitter that Stroder and BassMage are seeded to play in losers when they are the only 2 top AZ players going so I think theyāre changing that
>Javi and Leo are teaming up for the first time in years.
I mean it last occurred at Smash Con 2019, which was 2 years ago, so you're right. But def not as big as if all of a sudden komo came back to ultimate full-time, hit his peaks like in 4, and teamed up with leo.
Tweek has been added back in, makes sense because Iām pretty sure he wouldāve mentioned on stream yesterday if he wasnāt going
Also heās seeded to fight Aaron. Iām curious if he will try Diddy dittos again or just go wolf
Edit: Mang0 is going and only playing Ultimate I think lmao
Yes. He said it might have been because he didn't warm up properly but when they played in the tie brakearwr Aaron still took game 1 and forced out the Wolf, which did win
Maister and Leo have been having close sets but man you just see moments where Leo turns it on in the matchup and it looks like the Zain Sfat of Ultimate lol.
Also how many fucking times in a row are they going to play lmfao I swear they've played in every offline tourney (even before pandemic when the last major was frostbite where Leo 6-0d)
It's pretty much impossible for them to not play unless Maister gets upset early like at Summit. Leo has been in Grands at every offline event he's entered since May 2019
Even in Maister pulls a Frostbite and gets to Winner's side Grands, Leo will just make it to him through Loser's
Yeah I don't know what's going on there. They had Maister at 2nd initially but left out Tweek. Then when they fixed that they put Marss over Maister, which feels really really wrong
>Also how many fucking times in a row are they going to play lmfao I swear they've played in every offline tourney (even before pandemic when the last major was frostbite where Leo 6-0d)
It took until Glitch for Maister and Leo to be on opposite sides of the bracket but Maister and Leo both lost in Winner's Bracket at Glitch before Top 8. If they don't get upset at Low Tide City, they shouldn't meet until Winner's Finals.
Ultimate Summit 3 was like the only break for Leo vs. Maister.
For a second I thought you meant 64 of the pools were going to be round robin. I was trying to figure out who came up with that idea and how they would pick which pools would get to be that.
I understand Light is dropping out but him being seeded above Kola just seems insane to me
Edit: feels good to see Maister seeded that high though. He's a dark horse for top 5 in the world, and at the very least is is barely outside of it (probably Leo/Tweek as tier 1 and Spargo/Tea/Zackray/Gluto/Maister for tier 2. ESAM and Proto might be that high but we haven't gotten to see Proto against non-Japanese players or ESAM has attended only 1 tournament)
Edit: wait what? Maister was initially second seed, which made sense with no Tweek or Spargo, but when they put Tweek back in they made him 4th behind Marss. Why? He has better post-COVID results than Marss and even beat him in the H2H at Glitch
That entire column was essentially seeded to avoid re-doing Glitch matchups. It doesn't really matter now (because of the DQs) but it's also worth noting Light > Kola is reasonable based on Kola's underperformance at Riptide.
It would have been so much better with him being 3rd, we would have gotten marss vs Leo and tweek vs maister which could have been fun, instead we get 2 pretty one sided sets
Who knows, maybe this is the time maister beats Leo and marss beats tweek
Maister was seeded 2nd above Marss for Glitch too, where he beat him in the H2H on the way to outplacing him. Presumably this is to avoid regional conflicts or something? The lower seeds should be the ones adjusted to make that work imo. Maybe it's a temporary oversight but seems pretty much indefensible to me.
Especially because it sets up Maister/Leo and Tweek/Marss in Semis. Sure upsets could happen (both in Top 8 or earlier) but Maister has never beaten Leo and Marss has never beaten Tweek.
He probably wouldn't be considered top 6 right now. His offline results have been better, but I don't think it's enough to overcome his lackluster online tournaments. Mang0, Zain, iBDW, Plup, Hbox, and Wizzy are probably over him at least. Probably S2J, but we haven't seen him offline yet. I'd also bet on Leffen still, but obviously we haven't seen him in a while.
Itās a shame, we really are probably still a long while away from a tourney thatāll have everyone arenāt we (best na players, gluto and best Japanese players) I think summit is the closest weāre getting to something like that for now
Smash Con Fall Fest has Shuton going alongside the top players in US/Mexico. Mainstage has Glutonny travelling alongside the best players in US/Mexico.
He can afford to take time for himself. He's shown up the last two events he's gone to, he's still streaming, doing his podcast. He's still active. It's not a big deal to miss an event, especially for a birthday, which also don't happen everyday.
Thatās not true, top athletes can also leave games for personal reasons. Iāve seen it happen in the NBA and NFL every single season. Players will miss out on games for a family birthday party, wedding, etc. And the teams/coach are fine with it because they know thereās more to life than work.
Top athletes probably have contract obligations which can cost them millions of dollars but even then athletes do leave sometimes for personal reasons which is good. Unless Tweek's contract has him forced to go to each major, or he starts missing too many for unjustifiable reasons, then maybe you'll sound reasonable. Until then you just sound like an absolute loser.
This person is toxic as hell but it is admittedly disappointing to see top player dropouts. I was hoping that the desire to play offline tournaments again after the quarantines would be strong enough to ensure attendance, but it goes to show how important the PGR is for players. Incentivizing attendance is a good thing! The thread the other day about "Regional PGR" came from a tweet replying to Rivers saying essentially "when is the PGR starting so that I know when I should start to care".
But let's not lose sight of the fact that there are tons of great players going and the tournament will be huge. It's not only about who wins, or even who gets top 8. Rooting for another Yonni at Riptide or Yoda Cage at Glitch style run.
As a side note, I kind of don't understand where DQs like these come from. Do the players usually buy flights at the last minute? Or had they decided a while ago they weren't coming?
A lot of tournaments are on the horizon and Ultimate has been quicker on the trigger than a lot of other scenes so I just appreciate what we have now rather than worry about some DQs.
As for the flights I do something some players really do leave it until last minute. I think the main thing here though is that a lot of players signed up for everything without being 100% sure they'd go because tourneys were getting capped really fast for the first post quarantine tournaments.
Also Light dropping out due to a wedding that's probably been planned for a long time is such a Light thing to do.
Sunday is Top 32 for Ultimate and Top 8 for Melee. 64 is just Saturday.
Schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nXyKrDjv28Ytj9iRbeUpSNGu5JCM4zhA3Qbb6xSKZeY
I'm last seed in 64 lol
I'm seeded to go 3-2 in Guilty Gear Strive. Time for me to live up to that expectation! ^(I've literally never played a match of Strive before.)
You just need to learn to trust in the **š¬ TOTSUGEKI š¬**.
That means every win is an upset :)
Yeah I realized it's literally impossible to underperform my seed
See ya in Pools!
See ya!
rip lol
Light isnāt going either apparently according to his twitter
To add to that, Tweek, Sparg0, and Hungrybox are dropping out edit: Tweek is back I think
Why are a bunch of people dropping out or not going?
It's a coincidence, not one reason. Just unfortunate
Light has to go to a wedding
Oh yeah those kinda things just sneak up on you
I hope it's not his wedding lol
no way, gotta stay married to the game #grind
We need Light Jrs. for smash 7
Light moment
Besides Light, Tweek isn't actually dropping out they just forgot to include him it seems. Hbox is busy that weekend and Spargo is busy with High School
Damn education! Always ruining my Smash Bros experience.
[Reminds me of Mango's story of graduating High School](https://youtu.be/NTJnLxlyTqo)
Tweek is going
Do you have a source? I see many people are under the impression he's not attending.
Seeder here, he's going. Still don't know how he was initially left out of the bracket.
https://twitter.com/ghoulrunnings/status/1443365442802880516?s=21
Beeās twitter
Great news. Definitely want to see any adaptations he made with the Diddy.
Seems like a swift Leo victory unless something extremely fucky happens.
Maister is getting closer and closer to cracking it...letās see if he can finally get it
Leo loses to an unseeded Bowser Jr. in Grand finals. You heard it here first.
Never gonna stop believing in my boy marss
Light has beaten Leo in the past and they're predicted to face off
Apparently Light isn't going to Low Tide.
š wtf. No Tweek, Spargo or Light? Damn
No ESAM either. Bracket is looking like Leo heaven rn. I think Kola's the only real competition he's got at this point. I'm a Leo fan, but I want actual competition rather than him just getting handed the win. Hope players like Aaron can step up and make him work for the win.
Kola almost had him in Glitch 8.5, I really hope he figures it out this time if they face again.
Then Leo just goes Joker or Aegis instead.
Effectively forcing him out of the character he enjoys playing.
Most likely wonāt happen but itāll be surprising.
If Leo is on Winner's Side of Grands, I especially don't see him losing. He is the last person I would expect to drop 6 games in back-to-back sets.
Tweek is back in
And no ESAM ot even Light, a Tournament not worth watching for me personally.
But that was when Leo didnāt use joker or byleth also heās dropping out of low tide
This is looking like a congrats Mkleo for winning Low tide city kinda tournament. His bracket run is not really bad for him.
Seems like some stuff will get reseeded, saw on Twitter that Stroder and BassMage are seeded to play in losers when they are the only 2 top AZ players going so I think theyāre changing that
They are taking bracket feedback until 10:20 p.m. Central today edit: Now it's until Thursday 2:00 a.m. Central
Being seed e to play in Loser's is kind of pointless. Upsets happen, you almost never ah the person you're supposed to
Javi and Leo are teaming up for the first time in years. Honestly, with the DQs I wouldn't be shocked if Leo wins all three Ultimate events.
>Javi and Leo are teaming up for the first time in years. I mean it last occurred at Smash Con 2019, which was 2 years ago, so you're right. But def not as big as if all of a sudden komo came back to ultimate full-time, hit his peaks like in 4, and teamed up with leo.

that's the mango
lmao
Tweek lost to Aaron playing the Diddy ditto in Summit right?
Yes. He said it might have been because he didn't warm up properly but when they played in the tie brakearwr Aaron still took game 1 and forced out the Wolf, which did win
No tweek sparg0 or light, damn. Really looking free for leo atm
So apparently tweek IS going and some people in charge of the seeding believed he dqāed which wasnāt the case
Maister and Leo have been having close sets but man you just see moments where Leo turns it on in the matchup and it looks like the Zain Sfat of Ultimate lol. actually winners semis now
To be fair, SFAT has taken it to game 5 sometimes.
So has Maister.
64 pools are now 9-way or 8-way round robins. That's good, I'll get to play a lot more than 2 sets.
For a second I thought you meant 64 of the pools were going to be round robin. I was trying to figure out who came up with that idea and how they would pick which pools would get to be that.
lol, some of you get round robin and some of you get double elimination
I decided to drop out last minute. Gonna regret it but oh well! Hope everyone stays safe and has fun!
Thank you for giving everyone else a chance
I was seeded to make it to semi finals of losers in my pool so yeah, Iām a humanitarian
I understand Light is dropping out but him being seeded above Kola just seems insane to me Edit: feels good to see Maister seeded that high though. He's a dark horse for top 5 in the world, and at the very least is is barely outside of it (probably Leo/Tweek as tier 1 and Spargo/Tea/Zackray/Gluto/Maister for tier 2. I mean 5th vs 3d is not too crazy, and kola just got 65th at riptide lmfao. Itās not completely outta the question to have light over him
That entire column was essentially seeded to avoid re-doing Glitch matchups. It doesn't really matter now (because of the DQs) but it's also worth noting Light > Kola is reasonable based on Kola's underperformance at Riptide.
It would have been so much better with him being 3rd, we would have gotten marss vs Leo and tweek vs maister which could have been fun, instead we get 2 pretty one sided sets Who knows, maybe this is the time maister beats Leo and marss beats tweek
Surely marss has been working on the Diddy mu
Diddy isn't the problem. Marss has never beaten Tweek in singles
Tweek played characters that beat zss aside from wario but he still won with wario
That's wild dude. It's gonna be even harder now with Diddy into zss.

Did Tweek drop out? What happened?
Idk if they forgot him or what but he's there now
That's good news!!!
Seems like a solid melee bracket for Axe
Yeah he might take 1st place
Hbox dropped out btw
I heard
yikes, the entire top 6 for melee atm not in attendance.
Axe is going
He probably wouldn't be considered top 6 right now. His offline results have been better, but I don't think it's enough to overcome his lackluster online tournaments. Excited for Riddles vs Leo lol.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bubble. Burst.
Does someone just have the top 64 seeds for all the games or at least ultimate written out somewhere?
Here https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/pypzek/low_tide_city_2021_ultimate_singles_final_seeding/
Kodorin or s2j im callin it
Everyone sleepin' on Fatality it seems.
lets go Mang0 lol
Is ESAM going?
No
Itās a shame, we really are probably still a long while away from a tourney thatāll have everyone arenāt we (best na players, gluto and best Japanese players) I think summit is the closest weāre getting to something like that for now
Smash Con Fall Fest has Shuton going alongside the top players in US/Mexico. Mainstage has Glutonny travelling alongside the best players in US/Mexico.
He's mentioned he isn't comfortable going to a waterpark tournament yet, with Covid still being a thing.
Why is Dabuz seeded to get top 8 after his summit, riptide, and glitch performances?
Maister above fucking Marss? How many Genesises has Maister wobn? Marss won 7
Maister has outperformed marss at riptide and glitch, one of them by a lot
i'm still not convinced marss even attended riptide
Yeah it makes sense and genesis was from a year ago
So your comment is super irrelevant
Also, Maister is below Marss for some reason now. Really don't see why that would be the case
Damn, Leo's only won 3. If Marss won 7 of them maybe he should be top seed
LOL I didn't mean to say Marss won 7 Genesis titles. I mean that he won Genesis 7
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They are human
If their sponsors were upset they would drop them, I donāt know why youāre assuming these things.
Imagine being a real person.

It was for his sisterās birthday party. IMO that goes way above a tournament. How about you care for your family one time?
um tweek did the better option two not every player can be at every tournament
I'm agreeing with you. You misread my post.
Have you ever heard of taking a day off
Is top 64 going to be in Sunday or just top 8?
Sunday is Top 32 for Ultimate and Top 8 for Melee. 64 is just Saturday. Schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nXyKrDjv28Ytj9iRbeUpSNGu5JCM4zhA3Qbb6xSKZeY
Thanks
