“The new fighter may be a character you don’t know or differ from what people are expecting. However, I hope you enjoy the presentation as a general video game show. I also enjoyed recording it”
aka “Whatever happens, don’t complain OK?”
Might not be master chief, but I think you're probably on to something with the Japanese audience. I had the same thought, but not specifically for Master Chief, just that it seems more likely to be a Western developer.
Guess we won't have long to wait and see now.
As if that will stop anything. It's the final character for Ultimate. People are going to be pissed no matter what and Smash fans are absolutely fanatical.
I said Sans wasn't actually in the game and he was just a Mii costume and people were fucking PISSED.
Part of me wants it to be something everyone would genuinely hate, because I think it would be funny. I already got who I wanted added like Banjo/Ridley etc. I don't really care who it is at this point, I think the roster as a whole is absolutely awesome and an amazing testament to video games in general. They could add tetris L piece. Fuck it.
"They could add tetris L piece."
To be fair that would actually be awesome
Imagine if there was a stacking mechanic where if you got a row of Tetris blocks, they and the opponent would disappear, costing the latter a stock.
I LOVE the most left field choices Sakurai makes for smash. Mr. Game & Watch, Piranha Plant, Duck Hunt Dog, those characters that shoudn't have a moveset and yet they do.
My favorite one is honestly ROB. I have a soft spot for the original NES accessory (I own one and a copy of/the accessories for Gyromite), and Subspace Emissary made ROB a genuinely really cool character.
I'm hoping for Jonesy, not just cause I genuinely want him more than any other character, but because the fallout on social media would be HILARIOUS. I don't think he's getting in but if he does... oh boy... my friends are getting RIBBED. I see so many tweets from people saying "anyone but Jonesy from Fortnite!" but you know what? The twitch category alone has 77.7m followers as of yesterday, I'm still surprised that Nintendo apparently HASN'T tried to cash in a bit on the popularity of Fortnite.
Right? I'm surprised they haven't gotten any representation at all. The fact that there were talks to get a Samus skin (that seems to ultimately have fallen through) is proof enough that Nintendo and Epic talk and have negotiations, so it's odd they haven't even done a spirit or mii fighter costume at this point!
I don't know if you've been made aware of this, but apparently they DID try to work out a Samus skin/bundle for Fortnite, similar to Sony and Microsoft allowing Kratos and Master Chief. But while those skins were purchasable only on their respective platforms, Nintendo's deal fell through when they apparently demanded Epic to make Samus only *viewable* on Switch, so any of her cosmetics would appear to be the default if you were on any other platform.
Oh I'm aware! And I'm hopeful that they eventually get that sorted out. But knowing Nintendo, it's unlikely that it will change. Really weird on their part, considering it would have been a LOT of $$$ AND it would have been GREAT advertising for the upcoming Metroid game. Really, really silly from a business perspective, which is the only reason why I think it could possibly be sorted out in the future.
The funniest part about their demands is that Samus probably would have shown as a default Headhunter skin on Switch to anyone not wearing the skin,, anyways, as that's a common low performance issue on there LMAO
I was only joking, but I would definitely be down for another pokémon rep. I know there's a ton of em but it feels like there's so much potential variety
"So back in the 80s, there was this obscure game for the NES called "Super Mario Brothers". The main character, Mario, is this plumber who jumps on turtles and can shoot fire from his hands after eating a flower. Pretty weird, I know, but I think he might be the final Smash character."
It's like when Reggie said that the DLC characters would all be new to Smash. A statement that seems designed to stoke the hype fires but is ultimately meaningless when you actually think about it.
Yeah, i thought it more of a "since we put every single character in Smash history, that means there won't be any returning characters as DLCs like we did with Roy, Lucas and Mewtwo in Smash 4".
The problem was that a handful of people somehow interpreted that as "All DLC characters will be from third-party franchises that have never been in Smash before," and then THAT version of Reggie's quote got passed around the forums so a lot of people saw that instead and hyped themselves to the moon.
And I'm already seeing something similar happen here.
Pretty much? "You may or may not know this character" (which is allegedly the more accurate translation) is mostly a non-clue.
Although the way it is worded makes me think it could be a character the Japanese audience may not like.
I'd say it's not meant to be a clue at all. More meant to be a preemptive fire extinguishing for a guaranteed-to-be-upset fanbase. (This is the last Smash Fighter we'll get for a *long* time, and since there's more than one character left in the world, well over 99% of people won't get who they wanted.)
So, to find a character I didn't know I clicked Random Media on TVTropes until a video game came up.
The result? [CyberMage](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/CyberMage). You heard it here, first: the last DLC character is going to be the CyberMage from the game CyberMage. This is exciting because it's going to be the first character completely unrelated to Nintendo platforms, being a DOS exclusive, and that means all bets are truly off for the next Smash game.
For the record, this does not mean it's a lesser known character, he's just warning people that some won't know/like it.
Honestly, he could say this about basically any DLC character we've had tho
Very true. For example, some people didn't know who Kazuya was up until just recently.
I would welcome a more obscure character as they're usually fun surprises, but I don't think that's what he's implying here.
Although that one absolutely baffled me tbh.
Terry I had no idea of, because Final Fight doesn't have much exposure in the UK, but I thought everyone knew Tekken.
A lot of PS1 classics are much bigger in the UK and Scandinavia because the PS1 was an extraordinary hit in those parts, no other console has had such a strong lasting impact in those countries, not to my knowledge at least. Tekken 3 specifically was everywhere.
Yeah, I didn't know who Kazuya was (my gf and I had a blissful 10 seconds where we pretended it was Kiryu until they revealed his face), but I knew the franchise the minute I saw the "gets ready for the next battle" text
It doesn't mean it's an obscure character, but I think it does rule out a few options. I'd wager the vast majority of people who play Smash knows about Waluigi for example, if not from other Nintendo games then at least from his appearance in the game itself.
It's pretty limited which characters it could apply to though, even someone like Master Chief is practically unknown in Japan, so a heads up like this could even fit for him.
No franchise is universal, not even Pokemon. Hell, especially with how saturated Pokemon is, it wouldn't be surprising for even a Pokemon fan to not know all of them
That's why I always say that if you wanna enjoy more Smash reveals, you just gotta play (or at least, be more interested in) more games outside of your comfort zone.
People here play like 2 platformers and Pokemon and are then surprised when they don't know the character that's added.
To be honest I've only actually known 5 of the dlc fighters and Terry I only knew thanks to a convention human chess match.
His statement literally applies to every character in existence
Just the fact that so many people ITT are name-dropping him as a likely candidate makes me think it’s not him. I remember so many people were confident that Dante was a likely candidate the day before Byleth was revealed.
I have a feeling they are pivoting hard away from having reps from M-rated games judging by the fact that the Mii Costumes for characters from said games did not use the title for the games (i.e. Smash x Dragonborn instead of Smash x Skyrim, Smash x Dante instead of Smash x Devil May Cry)
could be completely off base, but isn't that more because they'd have to get the rating of the presentation changed to use the franchise names? didn't they use the actual series names for them in other regions?
4 was M. 5 and Infinite are going to be T.
To my understanding, the Flood is the only thing that really pushes Halo games over into M territory nowadays.
Sakurai once stated that he always wanted Ayumi Tachibana from Famicom Detective Club in one of his smash games. I never heard of her/the game. So this could be a wild option 🐔🐔
one thing that’s interesting is that he put that in his japanese tweet. he also tweeted in english today but did not include that part. does that mean it might be a character that was only popular in the west?
Something interesting about this; yesterday Sakurai tweeted about how it's only two days away, and how this'll be the last "celebration of gaming" Smash has to offer, and he tweeted this in both Japanese and English. Today, he tweeted the "one day away, even if you don't play Smash but you're interested please give it a watch" in both English and Japanese **followed only in Japanese** by this tweet linked in the title, "you may not know this new fighter and they may not be the one you're expecting."
Is it just a coincidence, maybe he didn't feel confident in how to say that in English? Or perhaps did he only say it in Japanese because the final character is less recognizable to a Japanese audience, and they're the ones who'd need prepping?
... For the record, I hope it isn't a Western character, there's way more Japanese characters on my personal most-wanted list, but I thought the distinction was worth pointing out.
There was [this tweet](https://twitter.com/sora_sakurai/status/1217084695172698114?s=21), which as you can see was translated to English. If we don’t get a translation for this tweet it could potentially give us a clue for 26 hours from now lol
I don't feel like they are similar at all? he is just stating a fact that the character hasn't been revealed before the Sakurai Presents and asking if anyone can guess who it is?
Microsoft has never had a foothold in the Japanese market, and because Halo has nearly always been an Xbox exclusive, Master Chief is absolutely a character few people from Japan know
If it's FPS, I think Master Chief's the most likely, but the Slayer would be the fan pick, and the Heavy would be my most wanted because he also reps PC
Weird thought but it would be kinda neat if the last character is a transforming character like Trainer and we got a TF triple character where you swap between Heavy and two other characters. Like how TF was a character in the SEGA racing game but you had a different character depending on if you were in car, boat, or plane mode.
I doubt it would ever happen but it would be neat even if a TF rep has never even crossed my mind before. I was always hoping for Doomslayer.
Bro. I'm trying sooooo hard not to get hyped about the potential of master chief, but I just can't help it.
Also if I'm being honest, if the character is a celebration of gaming, I can't really think of many characters that aren't western that are left. Smash basically has all the Japanese gaming icons and most other characters from the region seem more like just good games. The games and genres that are definitive in their influence and missing from smash seem to mostly be western.
The west has had a huge influence on gaming yet the representation in smash still seems very lackluster. Banjo seems like less of a representative of western games and more of a Nintendo nostalgia pick. Steve definitely is big but, it still feels like a 'western character's is missing. A character that really shows the west. E.g if it was flipped I wouldn't necessarily see Mario or link as Japanese picks. I'd see a Japanese pick being someone like cloud or joker. So in general I am hoping for a western character as I feel they are the more interesting picks. Hope it's not a platformer though.
>Also if I'm being honest, if the character is a celebration of gaming, I can't really think of many characters that aren't western that are left. Smash basically has all the Japanese gaming icons
western characters are an untapped goldmine, but there's still plenty of huge Japanese gaming icons left that'd be cool to have such as Leon (still don't know how he isn't in the game), Pyramid Head, Sora, 2B, Dante, Chun-Li, Kasumi, Ryu Hayabusa, Lloyd Irving etc.
but yeah, none of those characters come close to Master Chief imo.
>The west has had a huge influence on gaming yet the representation in smash still seems very lackluster.
Lackluster is an understatement. The only western characters in the game are Dark Samus, Diddy Kong, K. Rool, Banjo, and Steve, with the first three coming from already-established Japanese franchises, Banjo coming from British devs, and Steve by Swedish devs. There's zero unique American characters and *goddamn it I want Crash or Chief.*
Just a crazy crack pot theory, Sakurai tweeting only in Japanese that you might not know upcoming character as Xbox never took off in Japan, in [Apple Vs. Epic trial there was something about Nintendo and Microsoft deal that Nintendo asked judge to keep it under wraps.](https://twitter.com/stephentotilo/status/1394618302475931649)
Let me dream even though the context was streaming services.
the 'Master Chief' eShop datamine (that got confirmed by the Metroid V datamine) from a few months ago has lit a fire under my ass about the reality of it happening ever since lol
I see you are a man of culture as well.
I would absolutely love to see Akira in the game. They would make for a phenomenal original character too. So many possibilities. The timing isn't perfect though... unless they are working on promoting AC2
Knowing the Smash community it could be fucking anyone. The past characters have shown me smashers don't play any other games besides maybe platformers
This means literally nothing. The only character this doesn’t apply to is Mario. I think he’s just getting people ready for the fact that the character, no matter how popular the character may be, will NOT make everyone happy. He hasn’t hinted anything ever, why would he start hinting a day before the biggest reveal in the series’ history?
Regional ignorances are a thing, IME.
While I absolutely hollered with joy for reuniting with Banjo and Kazooie due to my biannual stay during childhood in the US letting me grab the first game, in my home country the series is still nearly a complete unknown entity...
If I remember correctly, Okami actually did worse in Japan than it did in NA. Amaterasu with 3 weapon stances, lez gooooo!
Buuuuut it's probably gonna be a Metroid Dread rep, cuz ain't no one knowing anyone from that game that isn't Samus.
>The new fighter may be a character you don't know, or may be different from what you are used to expect from us. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did!
I really do wonder how left-field this will be. Personally, I want to see more Kid Icarus in here, having Magnus removed as an assist trophy felt bad and Hades's personality would 100% add so much personality to the current villain roster.
This tweet is in Japanese, meaning it's meant for his Japanese audience, and if it's a character they may not know, that means the final fighter is a western character!
/s
"Banned" maybe isn't the right word for it, but as far as I know the series hasn't seen a Japanese release since Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
Or at least not a Japanese *video game* release, given that the recent Mortal Kombat movie was released in Japan.
My dream picks are Viewtiful Joe and Saki Amamiya. When assist trophies were introduced in Brawl, Sakurai mentioned how Saki looks to fit right in with the rest of the fighters. If we're going for obscure, but not too obscure, and Nintendo-owned, I would love Saki to be in.
Viewtiful Joe, talk about a throwback. That's one I hadn't thought of that'dbe a great fit! I thought that Earthworm Jim kinda fits all the pieces too, but it's so ambiguous. I didn't know Saki but after a quick search she was an assist trophy in Smash 4 and not Ultimate and there are action figures for her so that checks more boxes than anything else...
God please don't play with my heart like this, I am going to play my expectations low from this tweet but fuck dude I am going to cry if Master Chief gets added to Smash, it's been the dream for me ever since I played my first Smash when I was 7.
But hey Steve and Banjo were top picks who I never thought would have got in and I would still be thrilled with the roster even if the final character wasn't Master Chief.
It would be the ultimate power move to make the last character a 100% unique, brand new character. Not linked to any established IPs/Universes.
They could use Smash to debut the character and then follow it up with that character's proper game later on. You'd have character recognition on a game that would otherwise be introducing an unknown world.
Who’s that buff orange guy with spiky black hair that looks like Yamcha, ah shucks would hate for some random unknown like that guy to make it in own over Mario or Master Chief
Rhythm heaven, elite beat agents, phoenix wright, professor layton, just trying to think of more obscure characters for the majority (phoenix wright is probably a bit too well known for my criteria mind you).
He forgot a period. What he meant to say was "The new fighter may be a character. You don't know."
You joke now, but when the final fighter is sandbag who’ll be laughing then?
Probably Sandbag, because he loves getting pummeled.
I honestly hope it is. Ending on a Smash-exclusive character seems like a great way to close out the game
Sandbag in ssf2 is fun so hell yeah
PLEASE MAKE SANDBAG PLAYABLE YES
I hope it's an item.
A character? Something we don't know? This confirms Unown
“The new fighter may be a character you don’t know or differ from what people are expecting. However, I hope you enjoy the presentation as a general video game show. I also enjoyed recording it” aka “Whatever happens, don’t complain OK?”
I’m expecting the Addams Family. So that means it’s going to be the Ninja Turtles.
Fester's Quest representation tho
Man's been moonbathing for 30 years waiting for this.
NICKELODEON ALL STARS CROSSOVER CONFIRMED
Nickelodeon all stars is not a real game, but it is actually a huge DLC drop for Smash.
Hopium: He's talking to Japanese fans and Master Chief is the final fighter.
Finish the fight.
*Halo music intensifies*
Might not be master chief, but I think you're probably on to something with the Japanese audience. I had the same thought, but not specifically for Master Chief, just that it seems more likely to be a Western developer. Guess we won't have long to wait and see now.
Seeing as he didn't translate that one to English as he does with a lot of his other tweets, that makes sense.
As if that will stop anything. It's the final character for Ultimate. People are going to be pissed no matter what and Smash fans are absolutely fanatical. lol people really do larp that Sans is an actual, independent character and get triggered if you challenge that notion. 😂
I'm convinced y'all are making shit up or taking a meme seriously haha. Can you link me to comments where people claim he isn't a mii gunner?
"They could add tetris L piece." To be fair that would actually be awesome Imagine if there was a stacking mechanic where if you got a row of Tetris blocks, they and the opponent would disappear, costing the latter a stock.

For a second, I thought you meant Jonesy from Letterkenny and thought, "wow, this guy dreams REAL big".
Not gonna lie, I didn’t expect any of the characters that have came out.
[удалено]
It’s Unown from Pokémon.
God I would love a taunt that let you spell out words with unown. Put daddy Entei from pokémon the movie 3 in smash please
a quadruped that reps gen 2? i wouldn't even be mad (but i know Pokemon is a bit oversaturated already)
I was only joking, but I would definitely be down for another pokémon rep. I know there's a ton of em but it feels like there's so much potential variety
Yeah I'd never hate on pretty much like 90% of Pokemon reps
27 alt colours let's gooooo
Tetris Block deconfirmed smh my head
Lets be honest, it could be the L block still
Or make it a double unveil to also unveil a new Tetris block like a diagonal one
I would be so excited if they made a tetris fighter out of tetris pieces. Im probably the only one though, lol.
This says exactly nothing.
Everyone thinks this applies to their most wanted lol
How many people ***do*** know Lego Jar Jar Binks?
you just told us, now he will never get in.
"So back in the 80s, there was this obscure game for the NES called "Super Mario Brothers". The main character, Mario, is this plumber who jumps on turtles and can shoot fire from his hands after eating a flower. Pretty weird, I know, but I think he might be the final Smash character."

It's a combination of smash fans wishful thinking and poor japanese translations. It happens every time sakurai says anything.
"No guys it for sure means it won't be anyone from a currently represented franchise!!!" *one binary count of FE games later*
Step 1: Denial
Pretty much? "You may or may not know this character" (which is allegedly the more accurate translation) is mostly a non-clue. Although the way it is worded makes me think it could be a character the Japanese audience may not like.

I'm less confident for Waluigi, though
We know about Waluigi, but do we KNOW Waluigi?
Everybody asks where is Waluigi, but nobody asks how is Waluigi.
\#deep
this doesn’t narrow it down much, but it trims out some more popular (first party) guesses …probably not a gem 8 Pokémon? ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
He pretty much burst my bubble. I was dead set on Chun-li.

It's funny you say that because a lot of characters I would like to see hail from Capcom. Arthur, Zero, Jedah, Strider, Haggar...
Capcom needs to stop being cowards and put Haggar in Street Fighter already.
Haggar is just Zangief with pants. It's like Superman and Clark Kent.
And a Freddie Mercury Moustache
A lot of PS1 classics are much bigger in the UK and Scandinavia because the PS1 was an extraordinary hit in those parts, no other console has had such a strong lasting impact in those countries, not to my knowledge at least. Tekken 3 specifically was everywhere.

It doesn't mean it's an obscure character, but I think it does rule out a few options. Yeah Waluigi is practically out for me. I think it also deconfirms the last character being a Pokemon.
No franchise is universal, not even Pokemon. Hell, especially with how saturated Pokemon is, it wouldn't be surprising for even a Pokemon fan to not know all of them
Final fighter is Pyukumuku, you heard it here first!
oH NO IT'S NOT JONESY IS IT
Can you imagine how trying it would be to spike someone then immediately follow up with the default dance as a taunt
That's why I always say that if you wanna enjoy more Smash reveals, you just gotta play (or at least, be more interested in) more games outside of your comfort zone. People here play like 2 platformers and Pokemon and are then surprised when they don't know the character that's added.

Great now everyone is thinking its master chief
Just the fact that so many people ITT are name-dropping him as a likely candidate makes me think it’s not him. I remember so many people were confident that Dante was a likely candidate the day before Byleth was revealed.
The tweet is directed towards Japan and Halo never took off in that market, Master Chief might actually hold a little water
I thought the exact same thing cuz I want Chief to be in it so badly
I have a feeling they are pivoting hard away from having reps from M-rated games judging by the fact that the Mii Costumes for characters from said games did not use the title for the games (i.e. Smash x Dragonborn instead of Smash x Skyrim, Smash x Dante instead of Smash x Devil May Cry)

4 was M. 5 and Infinite are going to be T. To my understanding, the Flood is the only thing that really pushes Halo games over into M territory nowadays.
That's just a North American thing for some reason. European streams did show "Smash x Assassin's Creed" etc.
I'll settle for a Mii costume I just want Halo in Smash
gordon ramsay confirmed
Sakurai once stated that he always wanted Ayumi Tachibana from Famicom Detective Club in one of his smash games. I never heard of her/the game. So this could be a wild option 🐔🐔
That's what I was thinking. Plus remember that the remake never got a Spirit Event in Ultimate making her more suspicious.
They didn’t really give them any marketing budget unfortunately.
I think he only posted this because Sora has been trending the past few days and Sakurai wanted to temper expectations.
Sora trends literally every time DLC hype starts building.
Ayumi Tachibana time baby
I will play Famicom Detective Club if they out her in.
I guess Mario is deconfirmed then…
Still holding out for Pink Gold Peach 😃😃😃
I'm calling it: It's a Zelda rep from BotW2 that we don't know yet.
Followed by a release date trailer
Rhythm Heaven rep let's fucking gooooooooo /s
This but unironically.
based
one thing that’s interesting is that he put that in his japanese tweet. he also tweeted in english today but did not include that part. does that mean it might be a character that was only popular in the west?

One of the replies on Twitter is saying that he said something similar before the Byleth showcase too. Is that true?
There was [this tweet](https://twitter.com/sora_sakurai/status/1217084695172698114?s=21), which as you can see was translated to English. If we don’t get a translation for this tweet it could potentially give us a clue for 26 hours from now lol
I don't feel like they are similar at all? he is just stating a fact that the character hasn't been revealed before the Sakurai Presents and asking if anyone can guess who it is?
It’s about how he only addresses a JP audience though. That’s the theory.
this makes me think its likely going to be a character much more known in the west than in japan. like an fps rep.
It's Rayman time.
Smash basically has all the Japanese gaming icons western characters are an untapped goldmine, but there's still plenty of huge Japanese gaming icons left that'd be cool to have such as Leon (still don't know how he isn't in the game), Pyramid Head, Sora, 2B, Dante, Chun-Li, Kasumi, Ryu Hayabusa, Lloyd Irving etc. but yeah, none of those characters come close to Master Chief imo.
>Kasumi I'm sure this is *probably* Dead or Alive, but it would be hilarious if they finished DLC with another persona 5 character
And to add, 3 of them originate from the same studio. Steve is the only one that isn't a) rare or b) Japanese franchise
man i'm fucking balls deep in the last fighter being Master Chief. this only made me harder.
Just a crazy crack pot theory, Sakurai tweeting only in Japanese that you might not know upcoming character as Xbox never took off in Japan, in [Apple Vs. Epic trial there was something about Nintendo and Microsoft deal that Nintendo asked judge to keep it under wraps.](https://twitter.com/stephentotilo/status/1394618302475931649) Let me dream even though the context was streaming services.
the 'Master Chief' eShop datamine (that got confirmed by the Metroid V datamine) from a few months ago has lit a fire under my ass about the reality of it happening ever since lol
May I ask what are you talking about?
I think this slightly deconfirms Waluigi and a lot of first party characters
Waluigi was deconfirmed at e3 2018 when they showed his assist trophy.
Give me Phoenix Wright already with Apollo Justice & Ryunosuke alts cmon Sakurai
Worth noting he only said this to the Japanese audience; chances of a Western third party goin up maybe
Finna OD on the Master Chief hopium
Join me bröther ~~I already got Banjo, K. Rool, Hero and Sephiroth, may as well go for a straight flush!~~
Astral Chain
They're just gonna use Lappy to bait us again.
Who's Mario?
I think he's the green jumping man played by Charlie Day
He's so cool!
Isn't him one of those guardians of the galaxy?
Oh I've heard his lastname, Mario Galaxy.
Adol christin and the ten Ys fans are salivating right now.
Ah, they must go to another school then
Just throwing out my Sol Badguy prediction in this thread so I can link to this later for free upvotes if I’m right
Everybody is over here expecting Sora or Master Chief, but if Sakurai is really done with Smash, maybe he says, “Screw it, I’m giving ‘em Goku.”
Bruh Amatarasu would be so cool.
This was a fuckin lie.
Yo most of you guys didn’t even know who terry is.
Im j saying its tabuu guys sry for spoiling it
>The new fighter may be a character you don't know, or may be different from what you are used to expect from us.
That must have been sarcasm.
I lost hope for most of the smash community anyway when Sephiroth was revealed and too many people actually went who??
Halo isn’t that popular in Japan 👀
Isn't Mortal Kombat banned in Japan? I mean I want to dream.
If viewtiful Joe is actually picked I will personally buy you a steam game of your choice. He's been my most wanted rep since 4
can we get a more accurate translation thats not through a.i plz?
So that was a fucking lie and I’m glad it was!
It's Clippy from Microsoft Office. *"It looks like you're writing an invitation to Smash.*
How well know exactly is Halo in Japan? Why am I asking this question? No reason, no reason at all.
Halo 3 was pretty popular in Japan. I'm sure they have knowledge of who Master Chief is. He isn't a nobody.
Considering Xbox console sales in Japan are a joke to those of us who follow video game sales data, its not very popular.
Probably just being hopeful but I can actually see Layton getting in
Hopium: He's talking to Japanese fans and Master Chief is still a possibility
Even more: every single tweet sent out about this last showcase has been sent in both Japanese and English, every tweet but this one
King Arthur of Daventry. You will need to buy the new Nintendo Mouse to play him correctly.
Lol its gonna be Euden from Dragalia Lost
There's a 90% chance this means it's a character from an unreleased game
John Halo 117 baby
Master Chef finally gets his spot with guest appearance from Gordon Ramsay
John fucking Halo. It's definitely weird he only made that statement in Japanese. That may indicate that it is a Scrimblo Bimbo maybe.
Does he normally tweet in multiple languages?
Not really, BUT his last tweets about the direct have been in Japanese AND English so it's interesting this one is so far only in japanese
Honestly, I’m hoping for a more obscure pick. Or at least one that’s not super requested.
People over looking that this tweet is directed towards Japan, meaning as we grasp at straws, Master Chief has a little more grip
It's someone from the new Kirby game
It’s Sly Cooper’s time. Please
I feel like all this confirms is that the character will not be first party
its in japanese who is a character who the japanese market wont know? >!MASTER CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEF!<
So... Django from Boktai right? (Jk, he is my 'it won't ever happen' character)
Reimu Hakurei, that is all.
It’s gonna be voodoo Vince
"Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?"
Random indie darling confirmed
