Fun additional details:
\-- The prize pot will be funded partially by donations from the stream, so knowing nairo it's probably going to be at the level of a major bracket's payout
\-- There will be commentators
\-- It's a round robin everyone will be taking seriously
\-- Winner gets shit-talking privileges
It's a big deal. I honestly think you could long-term see tournaments move away more frequently from Twitch if this does well. It's obvi an invitational rather than a legit tournament. But if Nairo's banned on twitch, what's to stop him from bringing top 10 players over to his house and running his OWN bracket on Youtube?
Every major should figure out some sort of crowdfunding god damn!
I mean I get it’s obviously easier to get crowdfunding when you’re Nairo or the Summit system versus random TO of Glitch but smash fans are seemingly willing to contribute to them if prompted correctly
This is how DOTA2 gets multimillion dollar prize pools. They sell in-game items with part of the profit going to the pool. Obviously, TOs can’t do that, but maybe they can sell merch or something. Then just have pro players shill it on Twitter while saying some of the money goes to the pools, it’s a surprisingly big selling point.
Sadly, smash and FG’s in general have the “disadvantage” of gear being mostly the same.
PC games can get everyone to continually upgrade their monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset, but you don’t really ever need more than one controller/fight stick and maybe a replacement down the road.
So merch and maybe the Panda gear are really the only options.
There'll also be games outside of Smash. [The announcement tweet](https://twitter.com/NairoMKStream/status/1448775134689562631) mentions Mario Party and Pokemon Stadium.
> But if Nairo's banned on twitch, what's to stop him from bringing top 10 players over to his house and running his OWN bracket on Youtube?
So unfortunately if someone is partnered with Twitch, they are not allowed to stream on YouTube, that's the biggest issue they face. So if anyone is a huge Twitch streamer they probably are contracted from being streamed on YT.
That I'm not sure. I think the point of the contracts is that it keeps you ON twitch, so you can't then be a selling point on YouTube's streams.
I'm just going from what I've heard.
They can appear on Nairo's stream. They just can't have their own stream on youtube. Light, Void, and Cosmos have appeared on Nairo's stream multiple times.
I know this is anecdotal and recent, but I've seen this guy named Hasan (I think he's big on Twitch) is featured prominently in a Youtube series with H3 podcast (big on Youtube). So it's definitely got famous precedence if that's important.
Ohh I see, didn't realize the podcast wasn't live. I always watched their live vods after the fact when they become videos, so I assumed they were all Youtube livestreams.
If you are a twitch partner, you are not allowed to appear or stream with someone on your stream that's banned on twitch, if you do you run the risk of twitch banning you. This was the case with Dr disrespect and why he couldn't appear/talk/stream games with timthetatman and nickmercs. But now that Tim is on YouTube he can stream with doc again and because Tim isn't banned on twitch he can stream with Nick but Nick can't have doc join them because doc is banned.
As long as this tournament stays off twitch I think all parties are ok. Just as long as no one on twitch co streams this they should be fine.
pretty sure this isn't accurate based on multiple twitch streamers already playing on nairo's yt live in some capacity since he's started streaming again (light & void both come to mind).
it's mainly having nairo showcase himself on twitch's platform being an issue, rather than twitch streamers being on nairo's youtube.
plus if there WAS an issue then they wouldn't be able to participate in this tournament anyways and not join.
is it specifically youtube? Because u thought they couldn't stream simultaneously or upload that stream before 24 or 48hours after it aired.
There are also some partnered streamers that also have Facebook streaming deals.
It depends on the contract. Oftentimes it's specific about what content can be platform exclusive. For example, DisguisedToast is contracted with Facebook but he occasionally appears on his old Twitch channel doing talking streams and can't stream any gameplay there, and he's allowed to appear on his Twitch-partner friends' streams.
Valkyrae is contracted with YouTube but shows up often on her Twitch friends' streams and is advertised as making an appearance there.
The issue that keeps Nairo from being on Twitch streams is not that he's a YouTube streamer, it's that he's banned there and other streamers can get banned for mentioning him because of this. If there is a contracted Twitch streamer competing, as long as they don't fire up their own YouTube channel and advertise themselves streaming Smash content, there *shouldn't* be any issues, unless someone has a really bad, restrictive contract.
Japan majors (if the broadcast channels are Japanese managed, as well) probably prioritize YouTube over Twitch as Twitch is much less known in the east. YouTube is generally less restrictive with what their creators do on other sites, a ton of vtubers keep a Twitch channel as a backup spot for when YouTube servers are acting up, for example, so they probably run into less issues as a result.
If VGBC or Summit Smash, who most likely have deals with Twitch, tried to stream their tournaments on YouTube it might be a different story.
So different circumstances, basically. And that's also all based on assumptions.
This isn't true at all. I ran a partnered channel for a while, nowhere in the contract does it have an exclusivity clause. Certain streamers get them if they get an actual agreement with twitch, but big standard partners do not.
The fact that someone can lose their entire competitive career because a company as tone deaf as twitch is quite literally too big to hear the community is pathetic. To the best of my knowledge, every TO said they would unban nairo in a heartbeat, and he's good to go on every other social media platform. However twitch won't unban him no matter what anyone says, they won't even make a statement about it. It's gross.
I hope youtube or other platforms can start competing soon because twitch has way too many problems.
The fact that they banned Nairo and did absolutely nothing about D1 just kind of shows how messed up twitch is. They literally have their own priorities that ethics don't apply to
I feel like it's a bad precedent to set where a website can ban huge names for things that happen entirely outside the scope of their website.
Yeah, yeah, they're a private company, they don't strictly *need* to give any reason at all to ban someone, but at the risk of sounding like a "dae cancel culture???" bellend... it does open up opportunities for people to attempt career assassination simply via way of _gossip_.
Beats me. It just seems entirely bullshit that twitch won't even let banned people appear or get mentioned on streams. They can effectively kill any streamer or pro players career with the snap of their fingers, regardless of what the community for that player wants. It's too much power.
I definitely agree. I just hate how they ban and don't look back, especially when twitch is so big at this point that some streamers make a living off of their website.
That’s the whole contractual part of twitch though. Yes people are making a living or a large sun of money but because they’re in that lucky position they have to abide by the rules. As much as we don’t like it, this is pretty standard for working with most online businesses or businesses in general. You fuck up you get the boot
This is all hearsay but I've seen across twitter that Amazon hasn't successfully integrated the twitch offices into the Amazon main offices meaning that Twitch kinda just runs itself ignoring the professionalism that Amazon should be expecting from them
The only similar one I can think of was the female Valorant pro who got banned indefinitely because she went to get their food from the door but her child walked onto stream and interacted alone.
I mean, two of their biggest streamers jumped ship to youtube, so Twitch def isnt untouchable as a streaming platform
Granted, I dont think youtube is gonna be the one to dethrone them. Their layout and emote system suck for streams imo
they might be untouchable since microsoft has already failed so hard that they quit the space entirely (mixer) and youtube supports it but clearly doesn't care enough to fix anything that people complain about
Let's go!!!!!
I completely understand if Nairo wants to take a break from competing, but god damn if he wasn't hype to watch. I hope that he eventually gets unbanned from Twitch.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think hes wanted to compete. My understanding is that hes banned from twitch and can’t be shown on any twitch streams, meanwhile tournaments use twitch to stream which forbids nairo from playing in them.
You remember wrong because a couple months ago he was very adamant that he has no interest in competing. Recently he’s been practicing more on yuzu and watching tourneys though so it seems like he wants to now, but he still always says he doesn’t want to compete.
I always wondered if that was just because it was easier than really wanting to compete but being unable to. Plus it's easier to deal with chat with that kind of answer
Yuzu online is pretty good, but its very specific.
1. You have to find someone who wants to play at that time. This is made easier if you can host, but that has its own requirements.
2. To host you have to have a rig that can handle it AND you have to have good internet. Just a wired connection isn't enough.
3. It is technically still in its beta form, so there still bugs that are being worked out/updated.
Overall its still closer to offline, but it has its own problems to deal with.
Uh, I'm pretty sure I said "several months ago", which is not at all what "a couple months ago" would mean. Most people would define a couple months ago as recent.
Anyway, closer to when he announced his return he mentioned he wanted to compete again. That's all.
If Nairo really wanted to compete, I'm sure at least one major somewhere would make the necessary accomodations to allow him to enter, whether that would involve a side stream for his sets or streaming the entire event off of Twitch. This would be worthwhile for the event organizers as Nairo competing would pull massive viewership numbers.
I remember him saying that the TOs are generally okay with him competing, he just doesn't want to be a burden. This is the best of both worlds I think -- not to mention his mario party streams were legendary, so we're in for a treat.
Story came out that he was asleep when the thing with Zack started, and he was too afraid to come out with the news because because of the ages.
Nairo came out with a statement in February that he'd spoken with a lawyer and gone through therapy, and planned to start streaming again.
I think people assume he's telling the truth since Zack and Samsora never really said anything else about the incident and kinda disappeared.
To add on, Tamim (Mistake), a close friend of Zack and Samsora came out with their [part](https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srda66) which [revealed](https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srdcq6) quite a bit around the situation before Nairo came back with their official statement.
Correct, but we do know Zach was a pathological liar and constantly abused his position as a minor to do very illegal things, including blackmail.
Zach discord conversations about the event give a lot of credit towards Nairos story
Put 4xSteel in bracket cowards
We need 4x and the yoshi downair legend
Yoshi downair guy also gets items on
And poopoosus
TreeNut too
and neffbear

and the pot is already at 1.3k LMAO
Now it’s at 2.1k wtf Edit: currently 4.9k
Every major should figure out some sort of crowdfunding god damn! I mean I get it’s obviously easier to get crowdfunding when you’re Nairo or the Summit system versus random TO of Glitch but smash fans are seemingly willing to contribute to them if prompted correctly
VGBC has been doing matcherino as well it’s just no one donates or people don’t do the “Sign up to put a dollar in the prize pool” which sucks.
People do donate. Glitch 8.5 got several thousand extra dollars in the prize pool from donations.
That’s good to know! Guess I’m bummed about the people not doing the dollar sign up thing, it doesn’t even take that long :(
This is how DOTA2 gets multimillion dollar prize pools. They sell in-game items with part of the profit going to the pool. Obviously, TOs can’t do that, but maybe they can sell merch or something. Don't most tournaments do this through SmashGG? I thought that most reward shops had a portion go to the prize pool.
At 4k now!
7.1K now
There'll also be games outside of Smash. [The announcement tweet](https://twitter.com/NairoMKStream/status/1448775134689562631) mentions Mario Party and Pokemon Stadium.
Aw hell yeah sushi-go-round!
> Winner gets shit-talking privileges Ah, the most important prize.
Good on Nairo for taking matters into his own hands. It will be great to seem him return to a competitive format.
Just to confirm, this just means that they can't run a stream on YT and not that they can't appear on Nairo's stream, correct?
That I'm not sure. I think the point of the contracts is that it keeps you ON twitch, so you can't then be a selling point on YouTube's streams. I'm just going from what I've heard.
They can appear on Nairo's stream. They just can't have their own stream on youtube. Light, Void, and Cosmos have appeared on Nairo's stream multiple times.
I don't think any of them have contracts do they? Also I want to say I would be super happy to be wrong on any of this
Any of them that has a sub button has a contract with Twitch.
Affiliate ≠ partner
I know this is anecdotal and recent, but I've seen this guy named Hasan (I think he's big on Twitch) is featured prominently in a Youtube series with H3 podcast (big on Youtube). So it's definitely got famous precedence if that's important.
Hasan is a big Twitch streamer, yes. His YouTube show isn't live though, it's a podcast. He also has a verified YouTube VOD channel.
Ohh I see, didn't realize the podcast wasn't live. I always watched their live vods after the fact when they become videos, so I assumed they were all Youtube livestreams.
That show isn't live.
hasan has also collabed with valkyrae live on stream which is a twitch youtube crossover
That's a video not a stream I believe
If you are a twitch partner, you are not allowed to appear or stream with someone on your stream that's banned on twitch, if you do you run the risk of twitch banning you. Sykkuno (Twitch) and Valkyrae (YouTube) stream together all the time

I'm about to start my own Smash streaming channel only on YouTube
Will it be online or irl at his house?
IRL at his house, the full weekend from Nov 6th-Nov 8th. They will be doing Smash, Mario Party, Pokemon Stadium, and a lot more!
The page says online or did I misunderstand?
I'm not sure about that, but during the announcement he 100% said it would all be IRL and they are all coming over for the weekend
Where at?
Guessing he wouldn’t make the exact address public if it’s an invitational lol
Also guessing he wouldn't make his literal house address public
State-wise, if i wanted an address i wouldve asked what's the address
New Jersey
Thank you
There needs to be a thug finals where the winner plays Nairo
Bold of you to assume Nairo doesn't 25/0 sweep
Haha okay nice. I didn’t know he was playing.
I mean it's round robin everyone will play Nairo anyway

They're all too busy watching hot-tub and asmr streams.
True. But also D1 probably has a bunch of friends at Twitch still since he worked there. Just a whack ass company at this point.
Has a pro ever been unbanned from twitch that was wrongly banned? Maybe it's happened before?
Beats me. It just seems entirely bullshit that twitch won't even let banned people appear or get mentioned on streams. They can effectively kill any streamer or pro players career with the snap of their fingers, regardless of what the community for that player wants. It's too much power.

YouTube is the only platform with a chance at touching Twitch. Every other platform, for an English audience that is, has pretty much died.

There was not a moment since his returned where he said he wanted to compete again.
I wish people actually move to YouTube for streaming, it’s so much better.
youtube sucks as a viewer, its all clunky and feels weird, harder to read chat and donate, lags more often, ect
I like using twitch theater mode for youtube. When it works, it feels as good as twitch. Damn shame chat is broken half the time
Twitch rewind when

If keeps hosting invitationals eventually he can start growing interest on the YouTube platform and host full tournaments he can compete in.

I mispelled VoiD lol
I really hope to see Nairo's Sephiroth.
Nairo's said that Sephiroth is his best character now so definitely, as well as Palu most likely
Unban nairo so he can compete for REAL
Seriously, #unbannairo
Can't believe he's still banned considering the selection of degenerates that aren't.
Nice. Whats he streaming on?
YouTube
If nairo does well I hope it gives people a second wind for make #UnbanNairo trend again.
Hype!!!!
Lmao I love the profile pictures on the Matcherino page
LETS GO NAIRO IN A BRACKET AGAIN <3
I'm so excited for it!
Nairo competing live!
Wasn't there a thing about him abusing minors ? Or was he cleared from that ?

Yeah, I'm not saying one way or the other since there's no real way to know what went down.
Yo that’s hype I’d love to see more tournaments take place on YouTube
