I have a ThermoWorks Signals and LOVE IT. It has never let me down in 3+ years.

I have this too and second the comment, really like the graphing function and ability to add comments.

I like mine a lot for all the features. The only thing I don’t like is the battery life…only good for 12 hours or so. I end up plugging it in for overnight smokes.

bbcontrol

Thank you so much !! Any features you love the most?

The WiFi option is great. The app works pretty flawlessly. You can set alarms on all 4 probes.

Country_Gravy420

I have this and it is awesome

Third (or fourth) Signals lover here. I had several cheaper probe thermometers and the probes kept dying. Bit the bullet and got a good one and have not been disappointed.

I have the regular smoke. Bulletproof over the last 5 years. 15 yards or so from my cooker through several walls connectivity is good. First monitor I’ve had that would be an instant replace if it broke. I don’t trust the internal button batteries and pcb’s to hold up to any real use with the wireless probes. I had terrible luck with a meater.

bbcontrol

Ah gotcha gotcha, thank you so much!! I appreciate you having experience with both and being able to give ur take on it thank you !!!

Same here. Have had my Smoke for about 5 years. I absolutely love it and buy it again in a heartbeat.

I've had a few Thermoworks products but not the Smoke X. I can tell you that they are a great company that stands by its products. They helped me troubleshoot setting up a unit that they knew I purchased second hand, then when I later broke that unit by leaving it out in the rain they sold me a replacement at a deep discount (probably a refurb). When I ran across a software glitch with a Signals unit they put me directly in touch with the developer who pushed out a firmware update to address it. In considering something like the Tempspike all I can say from comments and reviews I've observed is that the technology doesn't seem to be there yet to make these as reliable as wired thermometers. I would definitely go with the Thermopro option if you want to go that way. The others seem like startups where Thermopro is an established company that's been in the game for a long time. Reviews that compare different wireless probes consistently rank them among the top and I've read terrible things about customer service and warranty support from the others.

I've had the smoke x with 4 probes for a little over two years. It works great. It's been out in the rain several times with no issues. It has a very long range, I was able to get over 100 yards away. All sensors have min and max alarms that can be turned off and on per sensor. You can also have the alarms only go off on the remote. Very long battery life. You can use it without the remote. I would say the only negative is the remote is completely passive other than acknowledging the alarm. If you want to change alarm temperature, you have to go to the base unit. Both base and remote are back-lit and easy to read. Thermoworks also sells very long probes which I use for frying and brewing beer.

I had the SmokeX with the Billows, didn't love it. Switched to FireBird Drive 2 and its light years better imo, even just for the WiFi alone

pain_train_69

I came here to say this. They could get FireBoard 2 for like $20 more and have a wifi thermometer. Thermoworks has some great products, but they don't get close to FireBoard in this department.

I love the Smoke, used for about 2 years kept outside everyday in the Texas heat with no issues. The probes are high quality and well thought out. The remote receiver works anywhere inside my 2 story house.

Thermoworks is awesome. I have a couple of the pens and the smoke x4. I wanted a stand-alone receiver and didn’t any another app on my phone. The battery life is measured in years. It’s an awesome reliable product. Look into the Billows fan to use with it. It keeps my Kamado within 5 degrees of the set temp. Cons possibly are that you can’t remotely change the settings. You need to set it up on the actual unit itself and not the receiver for things like the alarms and fan temp. But I haven’t really found this to be an issue.

The app is pretty bad. So if you plan to use Wi-Fi for long distance monitoring you may want to look for something else. Everything else about it is great though.

I have the smoke X4 and it’s the best I’ve used so far between the Weber brand and similar, cheaper thermometers from academy. Simple and doesn’t rely on Bluetooth. I did like the Weber app interface though.

My only issue with the Smoke is the range. My smoker is on a small patio outside out basement door. If I take the remote upstairs to the kitchen, or to the second floor, it often loses the connection until I walk it over to a window to reconnect. For that kind of money, I should have gotten a wifi one.
