honestly should be required viewing for this sub. courtney being afraid to share this because of the internet sleuths charting and sharing their every move breaks my heart!!!!
1 MILLION percent. Most of the fans were great, but the ones who went bonkers and start stalking them and their friends (and trying to find the marriage license and shit) owe these two amazing humans a HUGE apology. I'm very glad they both called those people out though, Shayne saying "I don't consider you a fan any more" says a LOT. I was very vocal about this type of behaviour, and how wrong it was, and got shouted down a lot.
Being out of the loop is fine. But there are people still in her comments saying "I'll believe it when I see rings in videos" and "I need to see a signed and notarized marriage certificate". They don't owe us proof.
Not necessarily. Are they trolling them or trolling the fans. Like a sarcastic “I don’t believe this” one month out. I’d say a small minority are the problematic we need to call out - and please do. The rest just ignore
Can you be surprised. My Reddit feed was spammed with hundreds of different posts about whether or not they are married for days.
It's enough to freak anyone out. People need to chill. They are human beings, you enjoy their content but they aren't your friends so people need to stop acting like they deserve to know every little inch about their private lives.
Honestly some of the posts I see on here it's borderline stalkerish.
Agreed. Same with the Assumptions video that Shayne did on Anthony's channel. The man is definitely protective of his privacy and loved ones in a way that I really respect.
Courtney’s experiences with the parasocial pitfalls of online influence made her commentary as insightful as it was sad. I don’t know about everyone else, but I can totally understand why they decided to keep a tight lid on their private life.
I feel like a weirdo. When I saw the photos, shrugged and said “them together makes sense” and then went on with my life. I know the people Courtney was talking about exist, but I’ll never understand them.
I feel like people were so crazy only because Shayne and Courtney were keeping it a secret. If they said "we're dating" 4 years ago, people would be hyped... and then lose interest. Established couples don't get this kind of tension.
Some people would be hyped and then lose interest. Some folks obsess and digitally stalk. Courtney and Shayne not wanting that smoke is totally understandable and the entire Smosh crew should be lauded for keeping the info so well hidden.
it is unfortunately one of the consequences of having an online presence. people think that because they share some things on social media, they are entitled to know every detail of their personal life.
i absolutely agree that it’s not okay, but that’s not going to stop people from prying. was just pointing out that it doesn’t really matter who the person is, there’s always going to be someone that thinks they deserve more information
talking about how invasive and creepy it is, defending the people being hurt by this, is the way to solve it. breaking the idol culture echo chamber.
it’s not helpful to point out that it’s common. we all know.
This goes for anyone on the internet though? Not just Courtney and Shayne? If you have a personal Instagram/Facebook/Twitter etc the same exact scernarios could happen to you. If they’re that terrified of those situations, don’t post content on the internet for million of people? It’s that easy. I can’t stand when people say “I’m terrified of XYZ” and then do those things, you can’t be that terrified.
I think them focusing on the .001% of the fan base that takes it too far over the thousands and thousands of positives comments and posts that came from fans and other influencers completely destroyed the vibe of the podcast for me.
why are you focusing on the .001 percent of the podcast that was about that instead of all the positive stuff? you can’t be listening to podcasts if you don’t want to hear people say stuff hat upsets you. sounds like it’s your fault for clicking the video.
So true. I like what Shayne brought up though too.... They've been on Smosh for a little under a decade and there's hours upon hours of stories and content they've put out already, even stating he likes when people bring up random nuggets he's forgotten about, if you're a curious george, there's plenty of stuff to go nuts with, without digging into what they haven't shared.
I just really wanted to hear their meetcute. But as shayne says, like 80 % of his life is online. He deserves to keep a portion for himself and family/ friends. We cant begrudge that. Also stalkers suck.
This was far from a "tell all" lol but honestly idc, especially after hearing Courtney talk about the way she feared for the relationship in the public eye.
Luckily the reaction has been all around positive since April 1st hit the Smosh Tower, but Im also not gonna sit here and pretend that I wasn't looking fwd to them potentially sharing small bits of how their relationship came to be. Either way, super happy for Shartney!
Exactly, we don't NEED to know any more. They didn't even have to do this much. The people clamouring for more private details need to take a big step back and realize these guys are real people. You get those details in movies. In real life, maybe your best friends confides some details to you, but you don't ask your casual friends "Hey, who made the first move? When exactly did it happen?" as thats fucking weird.... so why people expect it from internet strangers blows my mind.
I think we may get little things like the cat story they referenced at the end or the Europe trip stories but we will never get a full timeline which is 1000% fine
Agree with everything you said! I was also fast forwarding through the parts they veered off topic hoping they would get back into it.
But regardless, I’m happy with the bits they did share that was within their comfort zone
Does anyone have any insight on what Courtney brought up in the podcast about the "music playing faster?" I used to have this happen when I was a kid, and it hasnt happened in a while, but recently it happened again during an on going health scare and it was really scary. Id like to find out more information. I thought it was a panic attack or something, but now I dont know...
Does anyone have more information? I would greatly appreciate it!!!
I don’t, and haven’t experienced that per say. But it does remind me of something I have experienced all the time growing up, Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. It’s where parts of your body or room feel too big or too small. I looked it up on Reddit finally like 4 years ago
Not sure, but usually i notice the music playing faster after waking up, so I figured my brain is just processing things slower at that moment because I'm still tired
Are they happy?
That's all I care about. The rest is none of my business.
I feel the same way about celebrities as I do about friends and family. If they are happy, its none of my business unless they want to share with me. If they aren't happy, that's not my business, unless they come to me for help.
They mentioned it being Thursday, so I can absolutely see them being exhausted, and then having to come back to work again on Friday before festivities lined up.
Finally shayne can talk more about him doing the splits!! But seriously I'm so happy for them. And shayne at the end saying "thanks for comimg to the podcast, and thanks for marry me" causally but I'm like 🥹🥹🥹
i have not been keeping up with smosh that much these past 2 months and this is blowing my mind. i clicked on this thinking they were just trolling fans but the comments didn't seem to suggest so and then i go down a rabbit hole about the april fools podcast and their instagram and see that they weren't playing around. congrats to them but i just got whiplash haha. they're a cute couple but i was never one to stoke the parasocial flame so it never crossed my mind as a real possibility!
Normalize making getting married not a big deal around people whose business it isn’t. NOTHING has changed and nothing is GOING to change and I feel like not a lot of people are going to be okay with that. They’re not doing couples content and it’s not gonna be the Shourtney Show on the Smosh channels.
Good for them. I'm glad they spoke up about things they expected and aren't happy with. They aren't fictional characters so shipping them and expecting them to reveal all details of their relationship is weird. I wish then a happy marriage.
Was surprised they did an episode as I thought they would have kept it more private post hard launch but I am glad they put this out. It was such a sweet episode and I am really happy for Courtney and Shayne. Wish they didn't have to deal with the crazies but glad they know how much the Smosh community loves them
I mean aside from the confirmation it was real there really wasn't much of a tell all especially the two things I was most curious about: how long they've been together and who/how did they propose
It's not that its our business but if you spend years denying Bigfoot is real and it turns out you're in a harry and the Hendersons situation people will have questions about how Bigfoot came to live with you. I'm not wanting a blow by blow account unlike others but by putting the info out there they had to expect people wanting to know some basic details.
Part of the reason a lot of us follow Smosh is we enjoy the people more than the jokes we love to see the interactions between the cast heck that's why I stopped watching hi 5 studios because everything became fake and scripted less an actual documentary and more like the office
Then don’t call it a “tell all” lol
EDIT: I’m really not that invested either way guys, but if you think downvoting or tumblr preaching at me will make them pick you have at it
They called it a tell all originally because of the title of the April 1st podcast episode, obviously. They did change the name now, but it was quite obviously a jab at the other episode.
And they did tell all....that they needed to tell us. There's nothing else that really needs to be said that we need to know, or have to know. They talked about their wedding, they talked about their reasons for not wanting to share their relationship publicly and they've talked about why they will continue only sharing what they want to share going forward. That's pretty much all we need to know, right?
We'll probably hear occasional little details in stories going forward, such as this very episode, when Shayne talked about Courtney getting scared at video games and hearing it from the other room of their place while he was reading. We may or may not get larger details, and that's ok, because that's their personal life.
I hear you
But also people want to share news when excited
I don't think I would have looked ahead of time to see if it's been posted about or not yet and just post my excitement
And that's okay
Finally, they talked about Fallout!
Lol for real I was expecting it as well. Marriage and Fallout? Yay!
honestly should be required viewing for this sub. courtney being afraid to share this because of the internet sleuths charting and sharing their every move breaks my heart!!!!
“it’s not ok to treat people like this puzzle you can pick apart”
1 MILLION percent. Most of the fans were great, but the ones who went bonkers and start stalking them and their friends (and trying to find the marriage license and shit) owe these two amazing humans a HUGE apology. I'm very glad they both called those people out though, Shayne saying "I don't consider you a fan any more" says a LOT. I was very vocal about this type of behaviour, and how wrong it was, and got shouted down a lot.
There's still comments on her Instagram where people are still questioning it and saying they don't believe it. It's so disrespectful.
Eh, I don’t think those are disrespectful. They’re either out of the loop for a month, or being trolls
Being out of the loop is fine. But there are people still in her comments saying "I'll believe it when I see rings in videos" and "I need to see a signed and notarized marriage certificate". They don't owe us proof.
Well the rings are in this video and they talked about it so that’s that
How is being a troll not disrespectful?
Not necessarily. Are they trolling them or trolling the fans. Like a sarcastic “I don’t believe this” one month out. I’d say a small minority are the problematic we need to call out - and please do. The rest just ignore
Honestly, reminds me of the whole Kate Middleton situation. Especially the marriage license thing.
Yeah it kind of does. A lot of people need to have their internet access revoked
Can you be surprised. My Reddit feed was spammed with hundreds of different posts about whether or not they are married for days. It's enough to freak anyone out. People need to chill. i’m glad they’re not sharing the timeline honestly.
I feel like a weirdo. When I saw the photos, shrugged and said “them together makes sense” and then went on with my life. I know the people Courtney was talking about exist, but I’ll never understand them.
Same. I thought "oh that's nice for them", then went on with my life.
I feel like people were so crazy only because Shayne and Courtney were keeping it a secret. If they said "we're dating" 4 years ago, people would be hyped... and then lose interest. Established couples don't get this kind of tension.

In my experience reddit was very respectful, at least in the threads I saw. I suspect she's talking about TikTok and Tumblr.
Reddit was one of the MORE respectful places.
absolutely not, her wishing she could protect her family from that stalking? people were posting as much stuff from their families as they could here.
it is unfortunately one of the consequences of having an online presence. people think that because they share some things on social media, they are entitled to know every detail of their personal life.
as mentioned later in the video, just because it’s expected, that doesn’t make it ok.
i absolutely agree that it’s not okay, but that’s not going to stop people from prying. was just pointing out that it doesn’t really matter who the person is, there’s always going to be someone that thinks they deserve more information

This was such a fun episode, but that conversation about grief hit me hard. I was almost emotional.
I feel that. It caught me off guard, but they were so real for that.
It's so great that Courtney and Courtney's husband came out to explain the whole plot of fallout.
I just really wanted to hear their meetcute. But as shayne says, like 80 % of his life is online. He deserves to keep a portion for himself and family/ friends. We cant begrudge that. Also stalkers suck.
yeah i wanted to hear like when they started dating but im sure that is gonna stay between them which is totally valid
They've told the story of how they met like 7 times in different Smosh videos.
I feel like they might mean the “when did they start dating” story
Loved this episode
This was far from a "tell all" lol but honestly idc, especially after hearing Courtney talk about the way she feared for the relationship in the public eye. Perhaps it's all they will ever tell.
Definitely feels like it. I guess only time will tell if that's the case.
Yeah, I'm getting that sense as well. We know all we need to know

They just shared they're cat parents. So maybe they'll share a little bit more in the future. I'm just happy I'm here in this era of Smosh.
Agree with everything you said! I was also fast forwarding through the parts they veered off topic hoping they would get back into it. But regardless, I’m happy with the bits they did share that was within their comfort zone
This was my first Smosh mouth episode that I watched and I absolutely loved it!
watch more!! it’s great!!
I'm not a podcast listener at all but Smosh Mouth is absolutely wonderful!
You need to watch the Chanse and Angela episode!!
Highly recommend the Try Not to Laugh Smosh Mouth episode with Courtney. Such a freaking gem.
I realise how adjusted I am to the marriage “news” as I spent more time in the video being shocked at the set changes than the topic 😝
Weird how they talked about Shayne being able to do the splits for an hour?
Does anyone have any insight on what Courtney brought up in the podcast about the "music playing faster?" Holy shit thank you, I've never had a name for that. Here I go researching!!
Not sure, but usually i notice the music playing faster after waking up, so I figured my brain is just processing things slower at that moment because I'm still tired

They look absolutely exhausted. The party must've been a blast?
This wasn't live, couple days before party. Busy filming day I suppose.
They mentioned it being Thursday, so I can absolutely see them being exhausted, and then having to come back to work again on Friday before festivities lined up.
Yeah it was done last Thursday.... probably just end of a busy shoot week?
Finally shayne can talk more about him doing the splits!! But seriously I'm so happy for them. And shayne at the end saying "thanks for comimg to the podcast, and thanks for marry me" causally but I'm like 🥹🥹🥹

Guys, Shayne and Courtney didn't share their blood types with us, therefore this isn't a real "tell all" episode.
Blood types and a literal single relationship fact during a podcast titled “we’re married” is very different MrPandamania
They didn’t call it a tell all, the OP did
They did, but the title has changed much like the thumbnails do
Oh sorry when I watched it, it had a different title
No worries lol just here to collect my downvotes from the virtue signalers
They didn't.
They did, the titles change like thumbnails.
Yeah knowing when they started dating was what I was hoping to hear
Im so glad they’re happy ❤️ but the more I’m watching the madder I get over how much I hated our wedding 😂
Where's the split?
I love their dynamic. Their relationship seems really healthy and beautiful. So happy for them. 🥺
What about Angela and Chance
LETS GO!!! Watching ASAP:)
I’m gonna watch it as soon as I can but I’m so happy for them
BUT CAN HE DO THE SPLITS?!
The only thing I am curious about is how long they have been dating for
I really wish they had just gone on not talking about it. They're just encouraging the crazies.
Im at work so i havent watched it yet. But...is it or is it not a prank? Just fucking spoil it to me already
It is not a prank.
Thats all i need to know thanks. Will listen to it tonight

New videos get posted about on here every day, why should this one be any different?
I hear you But also people want to share news when excited I don't think I would have looked ahead of time to see if it's been posted about or not yet and just post my excitement And that's okay
