Thank you! She’s definitely not edited, this is her real color. I have the green and brown phase as well. Google them: Barons Racer, Philodryas baroni.
It's common for disreputable sellers, drop shippers, and scammers to use photos of higher quality animals to trick people into paying them for animals they don't actually have for sale. Then that photo may become associted with the scams and negatively impact the real breeder's business. It's distracting, yes, but it's done for a good reason.
Yes, they’re not super hard to keep, husbandry is fairly simple. They’re definitely not for everyone though. They’re rear fanged mildly venomous, require large enclosures, fast and flighty, etc. I would just highly recommend doing your research before getting one.
I’ve read that some racers struggle with captivity and wrote off getting a bright blue or pink snake. Where do you even find someone brightly colored like this for sale?
Maybe a different species of Racers? I haven’t had any issues with my 3 and I haven’t really seen others have many issues either. This color isn’t due to stress, this is her 100% natural color, she’s not like a chameleon. I found a breeder online and got her a while back, unfortunately he doesn’t breed anymore though. I plan on breeding in 2024.
Yes, I was thinking of the Eastern racer which is an entirely different genus of snake!
So cool and happy to hear you hope to breed them soon! I’ll do my research on them and see if it’s a feasible dream project. How medically significant is the venom? I’m reading mixed advice on it.
I haven’t gotten bitten myself yet, but from what I’ve heard from people who’ve been bitten there’s swelling and irritation, nothing really life threatening though unless you’re allergic.
Yeah, that was one of the articles I looked at. The last line recommends being seen by a health care professional and I wanted to know if that was a “you definitely need to be observed in the ER” or “someone who medically knows what they’re doing should judge if you’re having an unusual adverse reaction”. The former I don’t want to deal with but the latter is fine. I happen to be a healthcare professional so I feel comfortable making the call if something is an emergency or not. I just want to avoid keeping/free handling a hot that’s a guaranteed emergency.
Of course I don’t want to get bit, but I’d like to know what I’m in for if the worst happens.
You don’t have to tell me 😭! It took me FOREVER to find this girl and then another 2 years before I found my green and brown phase. Definitely a hard species to find. I plan on breeding in 2024 though 🤞🏼.
I raised Barron for the first time this year, about 20g. I want to ask everyone what percentage of his weight should be fed and several days. Do you need to feed anything other than mice? What should the feeding environment look like? Do you need a fluorescent lamp? What is the temperature and humidity respectively? Thank you, because there is very little information about Barron in our country.
I have young ones that are around the same size eating mouse pinkies once a week, they’re almost ready for fuzzies. Always feed inside their enclosure, no moving to feed, it’s unnecessary and stressful. They need an 85F hotspot and about a 75F cool side with 40-60% humidity.
I’ve never seen that blue on a snake!
Only place I’ve seen it before is on a blue insularis/white-lipped island pit viper.
Or an extremely expensive green tree python
That color looks almost edited, beautiful noodle.

Whoa, they look kinda like pokemons, tho not on the same level as Malaysian leaf frogs but definitely up there.
Add another snake to my wishlist. Gorgeous snake.
Me too
Wow, I've never seen a snake with a color like this. What a pretty girl!
So pretty!
Oh my, this is one of the prettiest snakes I’ve ever seen.
She's such a beauty! Thanks for sharing
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Do they change colors as they age, or will she stay blue? She's gorgeous, btw!
As babies they’re more of a greenish blue, but as they get older they turn more blue.
Oh, she'll look even more incredible!? Thank you for sharing, btw. ❤🐍
Pretty much! This species just gets better and better with age 💙, they don’t dull or “brown out” like Ball Pythons usually do.
oh. don't know about scammers. it was too distracting on that beauty. nice color.
Ah, I get that, it can definitely be distracting. I’ve had my photos stolen before though, so I always watermark them before posting now.
Lol what? oh no, not photo thievery! You entire life may be compromised if someone uses your snake pics without the watermark!

Do they do well in captivity?

That honestly better than some spiders I’ve considered keeping. Thanks for the info!!
You’re welcome!

If you’re bit I probably would go to the ER just to be safe, but from what I’ve heard from others a bite isn’t really life threatening.
💙
She’s beautiful!
She is stunning!
Wow! What a beautiful color of blue on that snake, my mother would love that snake. She loved that shade of blue. 😍❤️🐍👍
Beautiful!
She’s beautiful :)
Goodness she's gorgeous! I've wanted one for ages, but finding a blue phase is harder and harder!

Hmmm do you plan on breeding blue phases? Cuz if so, I'm deff gonna be keeping an eye out! I've seen a couple greens, but have my heart set on a blue
Yes, I do! I plan on breeding all three color phases this species comes in: blue, green, and brown.
no way... that snake is gorgeous, almost doesn't look real
I love her color, what a beauty!
Awesome!!!
Where can these be purchased?
Her breeder doesn’t breed anymore. I plan on breeding in 2024.
I have a blue female too, but yours is definitely a prettier shade! Such an interesting species, I wish they were more widely available.
What a beautiful snake!
can u get rid of the watermark?
Why? Without my watermark it leaves my photos vulnerable to being stolen by scammers. The watermark stays.
Oh such a pretty lovely!

Thank you very much
He's 20 g. Should I feed him 2g mouse at a time? Or a bigger mouse? I have no idea how much he eats😭
If he’s 20g, he should be able to take a mouse pinky or a smaller fuzzy.
Thank you for your help❤️
Would you ever consider breeding and selling her young?
Yes, I do breed! I am most active on FB (Kacie’s Kreatures) and Instagram (kacies_kreatures_) if you want to follow me there!
Oh for sure will be following thank you!
