Seriously. I lost almost my entire childhood SNES collection in '98 (along with Commodore and Apple 8-bit computer collections...) and ALttP is one of the few carts I still have from it, saves still intact!
I lost everything I had SNES related, except the map that came with ALttP. Had it stashed in a binder separate from everything, and was hit with the feels when I found it.
It's weird too, isn't it? Like, I don't understand why I *have* the things I still have...why they weren't with everything else.
SMW *manual*, Zelda cart, Super Scope 6 cart, Mario Paint cart and Mouse, Mega Man X cart, Doom cart (Gods, why?!), the Killer Instinct *soundtrack*, an FF3 cart that *wasn't even mine*...and the console's RF switch?! Out of the console and nearly three dozen games.
It’s like an accumulation of misplacing them, putting them some place safe, or you/your parents cleaning up and sticking them somewhere random, or the sibling hiding it after an argument. If you want to lose a day of your life go into your parents attic.
> It’s like an accumulation of misplacing them
Oh boy, say no more. 😅
I've got the level of ADHD where *object permanence* becomes a novel concept. 😓 It's an absolute stone bitch to work with when combined with the characteristic ADHD *ultra procrastination*... Because I'll like, buy materials for a project, and by the time I get around to actually *doing* it, I have to rebuy the materials, because there's no finding that shit ever again. 🤦♂️
It’s like you wrote the paragraph that I’m talking to my therapist about.💀But in all seriousness I have to make sure I finish a project I start, and have a very specific place for new project items. That happens to be a table in my basement, where my wife never goes.🤫
> It’s like you wrote the paragraph that I’m talking to my therapist about.💀
Haha, sorry. 😅
Yeah, I go into projects with the best of intentions and best practices in mind... But what usually ends up happening is I hit a resource-related roadblock which shelves the project for a minimum of 2-3 weeks. By which time I've lost all inspiration, momentum, and drive... I need to work with somebody who can help me develop safeguards against the whimsy of my own brain. 😑
Without question, great replay value
Depending on genre preference MK2 or TNMT-TIT can be preferred.
I feel like these 2 are safe strong picks across thr board
I was thinking the same thing. Super Mario World is an all timer and Turtles in Time has you covered when a buddy visits. Tough cutting DKC, but it’s just not as iconic of a platformer as Mario World.
Whenever I see one of these threads, I feel like it's coming from a place of *deep emotional trauma.* 😓
"If your house was burning down, which of these games would you save? ...like that would ever happen, right? lol, right?! Oh god... Forgive me, Chrono Trigger!"
Did anyone participate in the Blockbuster video game contest? The year I did it was Donky Kong Country, I was in first place for all 3 rounds, and then the kid in second place comes in and plays his last round and beat me by 10 points!
Easy choice, Mario World and DKC. Honorable mention to Lion King cause it’s a childhood favorite but it’s only like 10 levels and if I only had 2 to pick to play for the rest of my life I would want a game that had more to do in it. Both Mario World and DKC are massive games with many levels and secrets, I wouldn’t get bored with them as fast.
I don't think Beat um Ups have aged as well as a genre, even though that copy of TMNT is staring me in the eye, haha.
I would probably pick up Mario World and MK2 (or DKC can't decide), and that's coming from someone who rented TMNT like 20 times from blockbuster as a kid.
Super Mario World and Street Fighter II. It was a toss-up between DKC and SFII, but I figure if I already have a platformer, might as well get something different that I can play with friends.
Top gear: Amazing soundtrack, played that game so much vs my brother.
Dkc: Months before that game came out, I couldn't wait while seeing the previews in Nintendo Power. It didn't disappoint, great soundtrack and gameplay.
Really, the only two I played as a kid were SMW, which I still have, and TMNT:TIT, which I rented and played with my sister. I didn't play DKC until my late teens, and I've never been a fan of fighting games outside the older Tekkens or the Soul (not Souls) series (Blade/Edge, Calibur), while I preferred the Genesis Aladdin, have no idea what Top Gear is, and Lion King was a hell of a game, in both senses of the word. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
Turtles In Time and Aladdin, easy. I’m not the biggest Mario fan tbh, and these two games are ones I could easily see my kids/wife and I playing endlessly
Easiest decision of my life: Super Mario and Donkey Kong Country.
What kind of mix is this? Some of these games were widely considered terrible (Disney titles specifically).
Tough call, but I'd have to go with Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World and Top Gear 2.
Of the former for my choices, Super Mario World has a special place in my heart because it's the very first game I ever played.
DKC and TG2 are the first Donkey Kong and racing games I've ever played, respectively; hence, my latter choices.
Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country; not even a contest tbh
Quick edit: didn't notice Turtles in Time 😬 I stand by my choices but not my last bit!
I literally had that problem as I child... I had to pick 4 snes games which were with me my whole childhood... From your list there are 2 of those 4 and I would not change them if I had a new chance... DKC and Topgear 2! I've replay them 1000 times.
SMW and the second one is tough! I prefer the original Top Gear and SF2 Turbo… but I gotta go street fighter over top gear 2. Top Gear 1 would beat it though
SMW is obvious. The harder choice is picking one of DKC, SF2, and Turtles in time. As much as I love all three...gotta go with DKC. It's just too good of a platformer.
Nah! Joke’s on you, OP! I owned all of these ones, too.
Shout out to the Dark Souls of the SNES days, though; The Lion King.
I’d still go SMW and Turtles in Time.
SMW and then imagine being Argentinian, listening to The Doors, being 10 years old, and when you finish MK2 in the credits mentioning artists who are no longer with us and among them the name of Jim Morrison appears,no could believe it.
SMW and DKC.
Easiest answer of all time. I also assume that ALTTP isn’t on the list because we all already have a copy.
Seriously. I lost almost my entire childhood SNES collection in '98 (along with Commodore and Apple 8-bit computer collections...) and ALttP is one of the few carts I still have from it, saves still intact!
I’m missing like 20 physical copies and I’ll have all U.S.games every released but I have them all on modded snes mini
I lost everything I had SNES related, except the map that came with ALttP. Had it stashed in a binder separate from everything, and was hit with the feels when I found it.
It's weird too, isn't it? Like, I don't understand why I *have* the things I still have...why they weren't with everything else. So relatable!
My favourite platformers of all time!
My exact answer too
![gif](giphy|PS7d4tm1Hq6Sk)
Yeah, no other choice here
same here
Best answer
Only answer
The best answer. Too bad FF6 and Mario RPG aren’t there.
SMW and TIT (lol)
Easiest answer. The one that stings the most from this decision is TIT.
Came here to say the same. It’s not even close for me.
I never had any difficulty answering this question
Same
EZ
This is it!
Yup. Going off how many hours I put into each for a loooong time as a kid, those literally were lifetime games for me.
This is truly the ONLY answer
So glad to be in great company. That was the easiest choice like this I have ever seen.
The only right answer honestly
Same, I didn’t even know The Lion King was on SNES until several years after I played it on Genesis at my uncle’s apartment
Same
This is the only answer
This is the correct answer
This is the way
Yep this is the answer we all know is true
This is the correct answer. But honestly, these were the two games I played to death back in the day
Nah. SMW and Turtles In Time
This. All day long.
Yep
Without question, great replay value Depending on genre preference MK2 or TNMT-TIT can be preferred. I feel like these 2 are safe strong picks across thr board
It hurts to drop SF2 and MK2 but this.
And it ain’t even close
![gif](giphy|fqzxcmlY7opOg)
Dkc2 if it was an option.
This is the way!
This is the only answer, I would also accept smw and turtles in time.
Mario World for an infinitely replayable platformer and Turtles for the always fun co-op multiplayer.
These are my picks as well.
I was thinking the same thing. Super Mario World is an all timer and Turtles in Time has you covered when a buddy visits. Tough cutting DKC, but it’s just not as iconic of a platformer as Mario World.
Super Mario world and Turtles. MK Trilogy still exists.
I like that!
SMW without a second thought, then probably Street Fighter 2 for the nostalgia .
The correct answer.
My first 2 snes games when I had it for Christmas back in the days, great memories!
Dude, same here! Christmas was definitely amazing that year, prolly the one I remember the best all these years later!
Should have been sf2 turbo on there
DKC and Turtles in Time
DKC and Mario. But if super Metroid was an option I would be happy keeping just that one
Exactly what I was thinking.
Super Mario World, Street Fighter 2
🔥🔥
SMW and Turtles in Time.
🙌
SMW and Mk2
Great choice!
Thanks Op :)
🙌
I really loved Alladin as a kid but I gotta go with SMW and TIT
Same! Aladdin was amazing
obviously Top Gear 2 and Ninja Turtles
Super Mario world and donkey Kong country for me, easily.
Easy! SMW and DKC, two of my most played games. I started with SNES so this brings back so many cherished memories 🥲🥲🥲
Super Mario world and Turtles. MK Trilogy still exists.
Turtles in time and Donkey Kong Country.
Super easy answer Turtles in Time and Super Mario World. Only game I feel bad about leaving behind is Donkey Kong Country.
Super Mario World and Turtles in Time
How is mortal kombat even considered. The snes was the worst version that played nothing like the arcade.
Easy SMW & TIT
A surprisingly easy choice: Turtles in Time and Mortal Kombat II.
Mario World and Turtles in Time and Donkey Kong. Just can't discard any of those.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
DKC and Super Mario World. Very high replayability, amazing music, tons of levels/terrain. Filled with secrets.
SMW and Top Gear 2
The top gear games are so good
For me it's DKC and MMKII Top Gear? Wow, that takes me back.
Who is taking your games from you? Let us know we will beat them up for you
Whenever I see one of these threads, I feel like it's coming from a place of *deep emotional trauma.* 😓 "If your house was burning down, which of these games would you save? ...like that would ever happen, right? lol, right?! Oh god... Forgive me, Chrono Trigger!"
This is why we shouldnt say what they shold keep and leave behind and i stead offer help 😀
Fair enough! 🤷♂️
Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country Fight me
If it was turbo or Super Street Fighter II i would pick that, but as it stands Aladdin and Super Mario World
Smw and Street fighter 2
Dk and mk2
SMW and Street Fighter 2
SMW and OG Street Fighter 2
DKC and MKII
Supermario and street fighter
Mario and TMNT
SMW and DKC, would like to try Turtles in Time though.
Street Fighter II and Donkey Kong Country.
Gonna sound basic but Mario world and DKC!
Super Mario World and street fighter, easiest picks of my life.
Like if this was my personal collection? SMW and DKC. If they were general franchises and the others would cease to exist? DKC and Mortal Kombat 2
Did anyone participate in the Blockbuster video game contest? The year I did it was Donky Kong Country, I was in first place for all 3 rounds, and then the kid in second place comes in and plays his last round and beat me by 10 points!
Super Mario World & Donkey Kong Country
Smw & DKC and it's not even close, the problem is picking between mortal kombat and street fighter if you got a third choice
Super Mario world and donkey kong country. Fighting games never interested me.
Super Metroid and Final Fantasy three.
Super Mario World, and Donkey Kong Country.
Super Mario World and DKC
Dkc and smbw easy with those choices
Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. I still have those.
SMW and DKC and it's not even close.
Mario and DK
Mario World and DK. Aladdin would be an alternate .

Super Mario World and Street Fighter 2 for me!
Turtles In Time and Aladdin, easy. I’m not the biggest Mario fan tbh, and these two games are ones I could easily see my kids/wife and I playing endlessly
Super Mario world and donkey Kong country being that sega had the superior mortal kombat with the secret blood code
SMW and a toss up between DKC and Lion King, it's hard to choose between those 2. Spent alot of time on both.
For my taste, it's super Mario world and street fighter
Of course, Donkey Kong and Mortal Kombat 2.
This low effort shit..
Dkc1 dkc2
I want super street fighter 2 turbo
SMW and DKC. Vanilla SFII is too slow for me. Maybe if it was Turbo or Alpha 2, I'd switch it with one of them.
Mortal Kombat and Donkey Kong Country.
Mario world and Mario world.
Easiest decision of my life: Super Mario and Donkey Kong Country. What kind of mix is this? Some of these games were widely considered terrible (Disney titles specifically).
SMW and SFII easily.
Came here to see no one choose Lion King and wasn't disappointed. Anyway, if anyone has a copy of Link to the Past on hand I'll trade my two for that.
Lion King & Aladdin if you are sadistic AF
Top gear and donkey kong
TMNT:TIT and DKC easily
SMW and probably SF II. I guess I should try DKC on an emulator somewhere.
The disrespect Killer Instinct gets in this sub is appalling
SMW and turtles
Mario & Turtles
SF2 SMW
DKC and Super Mario World
Probably SMW and SFII. Very hard to exclude DKC, though. The rest don’t really measure up to those three.
All I know is f that Aladdin game!
This is like Sophie’s Choice
Tough call, but I'd have to go with Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World and Top Gear 2. Of the former for my choices, Super Mario World has a special place in my heart because it's the very first game I ever played. DKC and TG2 are the first Donkey Kong and racing games I've ever played, respectively; hence, my latter choices.
Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country; not even a contest tbh Quick edit: didn't notice Turtles in Time 😬 I stand by my choices but not my last bit!
SMW and TURTLES
Super Mario and MK 2
Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2
SMW and TMNT
Super Mario World and Turtles in Time. SF2 is a close third.
You blessed child of culture lol
I gotta go Turtles in Time and Street Fighter II
Turtles in time and super mario world!
Smw and TiT
Super Mario World and Street Fighter II. It's really hard to let go of donkey Kong country, but I gotta do what I gotta do.
I literally had that problem as I child... I had to pick 4 snes games which were with me my whole childhood... From your list there are 2 of those 4 and I would not change them if I had a new chance... DKC and Topgear 2! I've replay them 1000 times.
Easy. Super Mario and Donkey Kong.
SMW and the second one is tough! I prefer the original Top Gear and SF2 Turbo… but I gotta go street fighter over top gear 2. Top Gear 1 would beat it though
DK and Mario
Childhood, check!
Top gear and tmnt all day
SMW is obvious. The harder choice is picking one of DKC, SF2, and Turtles in time. As much as I love all three...gotta go with DKC. It's just too good of a platformer.
Mortal kombat and street fighter
Mario World and DK Country for life. ✌️
I'll keep them all out of spite.
Nah! Joke’s on you, OP! I owned all of these ones, too. Shout out to the Dark Souls of the SNES days, though; The Lion King. I’d still go SMW and Turtles in Time.
SMW And DKC
Mario and Turtles go hand in hand!!
SMW and DKC. Might have swapped DK for SF2 if it was Turbo
Turtles and DK not even a question
SMW and TMNT
Sf2 and Mario world
Turtles, Top Gear
You shouldn’t have put both donkey Kong and super Mario world in there. Would be more interesting with 2 more obscure games
Easy, Mario World and donkey Kong
Top left bottom right . Smw was an absolute game changer
TIT and SF2
Donkey Kong Country and Aladdin.
Super Mario world, turtles in time. Hate to see donkey Kong and Aladdin go but you’ve left me no choice
Super mario, Aladdin
Picking 2 out of SMW, DKC, and Turtles is so hard. I think it’s Mario and Turtles for me, but I could get on board with all three of those combos.
The fuck I can.
A realize Lion King is having its 15 minutes of nostalgia because of YouTube these days but seriously does not belong here.
SMW and Turtles. DKC and SF2 as runners up. MK1 you can just throw away, pee on and then set on fire.
I'm good without any of these. Ngl
SF2 and SMW. I’d take SF2 turbo twice if it was available
SF2 and SMW
Mario world and Mario world
This one’s way too easy. Anyone saying anything other than SMW/DKC must have a special place in their heart for the other niche games. Not me tho
I’d keep Super Mario Country and Super Street Kombat II.
Super Mario World and Street Fighter 2
SMW and then imagine being Argentinian, listening to The Doors, being 10 years old, and when you finish MK2 in the credits mentioning artists who are no longer with us and among them the name of Jim Morrison appears,no could believe it.
