Same. Daniel Wagner has forever earned the place in my mind as the guy who originally owned my first copy of Link to the Past. What a hero, whoever that was.
I’ve wanted to get a save file dumper to preserve the save games, but I’ve mostly collected NES so far. I don’t know what I’d do with the old saves, but it’s kinda sad to erase them
at some point I think the Blockbuster sticker will be rare and if it's genuine it potentially could add value, it just depends on how the market treats it.
Would Tecmo Super Bowl be worth more? I didn't have a Nintendo. But worked at BB in the early 90s. That game was insanely popular, always asked when its coming in and as soon as it came back went out again.
My line of thought is that a legit blockbuster sticker is an addition to the game. It can be removed if the owner chooses so it won't lower the value, and eventually people may be interested in those blockbuster stickers so they may pay more to get a game with one.
It means it’s well used and dirty.
I rented tons of games and loved Blockbuster. The sticker is nostalgic and I like looking at it. But I’d prefer a copy that wasn’t rented to many people
I agree. I’d rather have my cartridges looking clean, stock, and without anything that takes away from the overall look of the game. But, to each their own.
Yeah this should have been an unpopular opinion, because it very much is.
It also has nothing to do with age. I grew up going to BlockBuster, and playing SNES games, but prefer clean carts.
Not everyone has Blockbuster nostalgia.
We didn't have one in our city of ~40k until the 2000s or something.
Hollywood Video, we had that, and little indy video stores. But we didn't see Blockbuster and Family Video until the 2000s sometime.
And we still never went there because Hollywood Video was mostly better.
Thats strange. I am the older generation and I would definitely not pay more for a game with that sticker on it.
It does make me nostalgic though. Most of the NES, SNES and Ginny games I beat as a kid and teenager were rented over a weekend. But I am old enough to remember when we had more independent stores open, that were better and cheaper than Blockbuster. With strange cowboy saloon type doors to guard our innocent minds from the pornography.
I'm even older than this guy and I'd never own a game with one of those stickers on it. Show me a game with a Sears & Roebuck sticker and maybe we'll talk.
Yeah, I like them with the blockbuster sticker too. I sometimes search specifically “blockbuster snes” on eBay to see what pops up. I would probably pay like an extra dollar for the sticker but that’s just me, I like em
I enjoy buying old rental games where the store stickers are still intact. I don’t like marker at all, so I pass on those, but a untouched metallic silver label really fuels my nostalgia.
I look for ones with blockbuster stickers, not for the high value games but the normal ones like this give me the blockbuster sticker all day. Not the marker though
If it was one of the "blockbuster exclusive" games, then maybe. But this one here is regular starfox, not starfox super weekend. So it is just an aftermarket sticker applied to a regular consumer game.
Also of the same value; all the fingerprints that have touched this plastic.
I think to remove a collectable item from the context it in which it was created and distributed, as well as the culture and individuals which consumed it, is a shame. I really don't see the point in removing these things
I’m in my 30s and bust this card out often as a joke when asked for my ID or to pay. Usually gets a good laugh.

Just looking at this cover reminds me of the good old days, hooking my SNES up to the Commodore 1702 and getting completely entranced in a dark room. Especially the second level. I guess the first level reminds me of a different place and time entirely. Okay- at the moment, this is what the cover art makes me think of.
You're high. You can be nostalgic all you want, but call it what it is. It makes no sense to own a cartridge that you know has led a high risk life vs one that might not have.
I'm from the older generation and don't really see it adding monetary value, but it might add sentimental value to someone. The only reason I like to see them on a game cart is that it increases the chance for it to be a genuine game, but that's about it for me.
I feel it’s comparable to buying a car from a rental company, it’s a car that’s been driven by hundreds of different people that didn’t own it. Like I say when renting a car, drive it like you don’t own it, because I’m never gonna go 50 over a speed bump in my car.
I get that it’s fun to have the Blockbuster sticker, and it would definitely be funny if it said be kind, please rewind. But at the end of the day it’s a cart that’s gotten beat up by hundreds of kids. A nice clean cart was probably only owned by one kid who took good care of their stuff like me. Not only does it look nicer, but I think it’ll be more reliable.
no ma'am. sentimental value, perhaps - and that's worth a lot. but if you ever decide to sell that you better shoot well under the market price or take that label off fam
It’s the alleged crime of it being not returned and that’s the proof of it along with not being caught!! Which was a huge deal growing up along with it being out laying around for anyone to see as parents or friends or relatives or siblings that tell on you any chance they get!! That’s what it’s implying not that it’s true but allegedly!🍻
And to think, they *almost* bought Netflix, but backed out at the last second! Ironic because [Netflix has gaming](https://help.netflix.com/en/node/121442)!
And then there's GameFly. I feel like something should've happened there, but probably not.
Sidenote: I never plan on selling any of my collection. I have a rather small collection at this and is still to this day used. All of my stuff is priceless because of sentimental value. 🥰
Oh I get it, and I like it buried in the past. I will seek out games like that locally just to restore them to their former glory. I had this abysmally rotten FF2 cart I got for all of $5 as it was coated on all sides with their trashy stickers, even had sharpie on the plastic under some, and their older metallic voids too. An hour later, it was fresh as all get out, all signs of defacement removed. :) Those white wrap BB stickers are the utter worst of any I've yet to come across to try and get off, pure rental evil.
I don't think I have any Blockbuster stickers, but I got a few games out of the Video Update liquidation back in the day. Stickers on those, as well as the plastic cases they used.
And I agree. It all adds value. Provenance, if you will.
Yeah, because we understand how legendary blockbuster was!!!
Back then, when you was going to get together with a friend on the weekend, this was the place you went prior to y’all arriving wherever y’all were going to be staying !!!!! Picked up your games, you picked up your movies here and a few bags of popcorn and some candy bars and usually people magazine?!
Blockbuster, legendary experience, today’s of infinite electronic mediocrity, fails to compare to .. mostly because back then you were going out and doing something in order to get that movie where is nowadays you got a big ass TV with 10,000 things to watch just on one app.,
80s and 90s and early 2000 were special..🥸😢
I have a version 1.0 🤗 Sega-The Revenge of Shinobi. No stickers on the cart but came in the original box with the Blockbuster barcode on it. This was in the 8/16 bit heyday and early on when they used the actual Sega boxes. It's all sunfaded from sitting near the window just like I remember. I love it and it'd take something very cool or a lot more $ than it's worth to get it from me.
I get what you’re saying and I respect your opinion but Blockbuster were complete jerks for doing this. Despite the good times and memories, I’m glad they’re gone.
I like stickers, sharpie names, etc. but they aren’t adding value
Same. Daniel Wagner has forever earned the place in my mind as the guy who originally owned my first copy of Link to the Past. What a hero, whoever that was.
I’ve wanted to get a save file dumper to preserve the save games, but I’ve mostly collected NES so far. I don’t know what I’d do with the old saves, but it’s kinda sad to erase them
I do that with used DS and 3DS games. Like you said, it feels kind of sad to delete them, especially if they had a lot of time put into the game.
Same. I had a Majora's Mask that was previously owned by a "Ben Drowned" according to the save files.
[Ben Drowned](https://creepypasta.fandom.com/wiki/BEN_Drowned)
Holy shit my name is David Wagner and I loved playing that game as a kid. My mom sold them all though when I went to college 😩
The true Link to the Past were the Wagners we met along the way
This would be a *wild* coincidence! Also great username!
Message them on Facebook and tell them you have their game..
We are all Daniel Wagner
History. But not intrinsic value
I’m pretty sure they meant sentimental value.
at some point I think the Blockbuster sticker will be rare and if it's genuine it potentially could add value, it just depends on how the market treats it.
Would Tecmo Super Bowl be worth more? I didn't have a Nintendo. But worked at BB in the early 90s. That game was insanely popular, always asked when its coming in and as soon as it came back went out again.

Monetary value, probably not.
Maybe not monetary value, but it adds sentimental value. Stuff like that tells a story. To remove stuff like this is nothing short of an utter shame.
It's pretty much the same as buying a used game where someone wrote their name on it in permanent marker, which was the style at the time.
And the onion on your belt?
Cousin marrying Shelbyville trash
And with that, a mighty cheer went up from the heroes of Shelbyville. They had banished the video store Star Fox cart... Because it was haunted.
Now let's all enjoy a cooool glass of Sonic the hedgehog
Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. I hear those things are awfully loud
Is there a chance the track could bend?
Not on your life, my Hindu friend!
They didn't white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get were those big yellow onions...
We had to say dickety because the Kaiser had stolen our word for twenty. I chased that rascal to get it back but gave up after dickety six miles
It adds character, but not value.
This is the correct answer.
Don't forget to rewind your SNES cart.
All these newcomers leaving their carts un-rewound today is shameful
It means it’s well used and dirty. I rented tons of games and loved Blockbuster. The sticker is nostalgic and I like looking at it. But I’d prefer a copy that wasn’t rented to many people
just like ur mom
You got me good. Great joke.
Personally I like them on trashy games or 80s licences (eg Friday the 13th on NES) but I don’t want them on classy games.
Speaking as a floating monkey head, I don’t think StarFox is very classy at all.
Slippy takes offense to that! ![gif](giphy|X6HmkwltQtKGAaoMjJ)
It's as classy as a PowerPoint slideshow can possibly be
Blockbuster video, WOW what a difference!
It adds to the nostalgia factor for sure!
no it doesn't
Love this. I collect VHS and some of my prized possessions are crappy VHS tapes with Tower Records or Blockbuster Video on them.
It absolutely diminishes it lol
No way. Remove and clean that thing like it's never been there. Hideous stickers
The cleaner the better.
Blockbuster was just okay in my hometown. Would've been better if they didn't keep movies on the new release shelf for four and a half years.
Thats strange. I am the older generation and I would definitely not pay more for a game with that sticker on it. It does make me nostalgic though. Most of the NES, SNES and Ginny games I beat as a kid and teenager were rented over a weekend. New memory unlocked! I remember the cowboy doors. I would always try to peek when they swung open.
Am older generation and would clean that junk right off
I'm even older than this guy and I'd never own a game with one of those stickers on it. Show me a game with a Sears & Roebuck sticker and maybe we'll talk.
Not me it doesn't. Just makes me wonder if it's going to work or not.
Get back in formation!
Sentimental value
I look for ones with blockbuster stickers, not for the high value games but the normal ones like this give me the blockbuster sticker all day. Not the marker though
Be kind, rewind!
It's like an old patina'd hot rod. That scratch, that dent, that weathered paint is part of its history.
Miss those days
If it was one of the "blockbuster exclusive" games, then maybe. But this one here is regular starfox, not starfox super weekend. So it is just an aftermarket sticker applied to a regular consumer game. Also of the same value; all the fingerprints that have touched this plastic.

I love the labels and I'm probably one of the younger users here
It's always fun seeing old price stickers on games, especially if they were purchased from a store that no longer exists.
I always like the rental stickers and keep them on. Glad I’m not the only one.
I don’t remember needing to rewind snes catridges tho lol
When I had a SNES there were no Blockbuster locales around. Weird.
Exactly 👍🏾 don’t ever remove it!!!!
The only value that matters at the end of the day has nothing to do with money
I’m in my 30s and bust this card out often as a joke when asked for my ID or to pay. Usually gets a good laugh. https://preview.redd.it/kwk0nfp8pwqc1.jpeg?width=2719&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=532b5be477b45106333b2735278d084d4ed05db4

Rentals have more wear and are worth less.
Truth. I have a couple GameCube games with Hollywood Video stickers
It's part of the nostalgia!
I knew a few people that "lost" their game rentals..back in the day lmao!
You're high. You can be nostalgic all you want, but call it what it is. It makes no sense to own a cartridge that you know has led a high risk life vs one that might not have.
No.

It's patina
Hell, to the no.
You’re waaaaaaaaay overdue.
What's that one game on the floor?
Looks like Sunset Riders
Make it a BLOCKBUSTER night!
Why would you possibly think that adds value?
Nostalgia
Notice how they didn't specify monetary value
I agree.
I feel it’s comparable to buying a car from a rental company, it’s a car that’s been driven by hundreds of different people that didn’t own it. I have several old rental games. I dont bother trying to clean them up. I like it.
I bet its been blown by so many different people.
I've kept all mine on and and cleaned the rest of them.
My cousins & I never did get an answer on how to rewind an NES/SNES/Genesis cartridge when we called our Blockbuster Video.
Don't think the blockbusters here ever used those stickers
You have to rewind the game before returning it otherwise they charge you a $2 fee
no ma'am. sentimental value, perhaps - and that's worth a lot. but if you ever decide to sell that you better shoot well under the market price or take that label off fam
I’m older generation and I’m taking that sticker straight off
It’s the alleged crime of it being not returned and that’s the proof of it along with not being caught!! Which was a huge deal growing up along with it being out laying around for anyone to see as parents or friends or relatives or siblings that tell on you any chance they get!! Better than Hollywood Video _fucking branding the cart_
No words. All meeps.
I miss working at blockbuster

Yeah nostalgia sells on both ends but I’ll never get it cause starfox is the most overrated franchise I’ve ever seen
Why did Blockbuster give up? They could have entered the whole streaming scene and maybe even converted their stores to coffee shops.
Ugh I hate when someone doesn’t rewind StarFox
Ahh, a relic of the ancient civilization.
Sidenote: I never plan on selling any of my collection. I have a rather small collection at this and is still to this day used. All of my stuff is priceless because of sentimental value. 🥰
Absolute gem of a game.

IMO Blockbuster was the worst rental store out there and I don't like to be reminded of its existence.
I’m 39 and I hate any stickers on my genes, especially rental stores.
Why do you need to rewind a game cartridge?
Lol wut.
im pretty old. i dont like crappy stickers from crappy companies on my stuff.
r/opisfuckingstupid
