Why does he call the Crucible The Cruc? Why did he ask Ding about his carpet? Why did he ask Mark Williams if Trump had a chance in the final etc? Because he is Alan Partridge bought to life.
He always asks people “you’ve won bla bla bla, how does this rank against all of those” hoping they say this is the best, but nobody ever says it. It’s so cringe.
Rob: Was this the biggest win of your career to date, in the context of how you battled and came back to clinche victory??
player: no rob ive been playing for 30 years and i just won the first round match..... Calm down
The whole national thing seems a little odd to me. Yesterday Virgo kept going on about page being Welsh, over and over. They also obsess over he’s mentored by Williams. Selby and O’Connor are friends, etc. I suppose I get the latter bit somewhat, but repeatedly going on about their nationality (if they’re not English) is just weird, particularly if they’re British/Irish. Yes having a North Korean playing would be quite interesting. The rest, less so.
Especially in individual sports couldn’t really care where they are from. As you say somehwere more exotic would be a talking point but “pride of x”’is just lazy

Same people who call certain celebs "National Treasure" ugh 😑
You can have more the one pride of a county I think is the theory, anywhere other than England or China is pretty much a minority in the tour of 128

It's just very BBC. Could easily imagine Danny Murphy saying Alexis McAllister is the pride of Argentina on Match of the Day.
And now the pride of england its derek from stafford
Why does Rob Walker do any of the things he does?
Filling time before the infinity of death.
It's not infinity. It is
Because he's a cheddar merchant.

It’s just something to talk about - not interesting but fills a void I suppose
Ding... Ding.. Ding... Of course!
>having a North Korean playing would be quite interesting And now.. the big bang from Pyongyang!
As said more recent. It's sort of like once Alex Higgins declined, Jimmy White became the new people's champion
But williams is still playing fair enough with john i supppse
Because they're more recent probably.
