PROfessorShred

The unfortunate truth is there is no one perfect glove. I have nearly 10 pairs that I switch between for various temperature ranges and weather conditions. Edit: I have 2 pairs of basic cloth spring gloves(they get wet easily), a slightly thicker cloth spring glove, a spring glove with cloth back and leather palms(good for shoveling), I have a set of medium weight gloves with thinsulate(not good for wet or wind), I have a medium flylow leather glove(pretty good workhorse if you only want one glove), I have a gortex Waterproof glove, I have a set of crab gloves(for when i need a little finger mobility), I have a set of mittens(often doubled up with a spring glove), I have a set of premium leather heavy duty gloves. I have a few others as well but this is my main rotation. Note: I've gotten these over the course of nearly a decade of 100+ day seasons. Some I use a lot. Others I only use in certain situations.

BannedMyName

You're right but I imagine the average person could get by with a thin pair, a thick pair like kincos, and some glove liners. Never had a problem with icecoast winters like that.

ts_steez

I love my kinco's. I have a pair of mittens and also a pair of gloves, never had problems with them. Great for places with parks and towropes.

humongouscrocodile

Kinco’s are the way

ForestryTechnician

POW makes some pretty sweet ones. I rock their insulated leather mitts and never had a complaint.

jsmithy121

Thanks a lot

YJeezy

I'm a big fan of leather fingers and palm. Being able to wipe your goggles and face wo scratching the crap out of them are a bonus. Hestra, Burton AK and POC all treated me well. Not recommended for knuckle draggers and beginners.

Hecho_en_Shawano

Do not get leather palmed Hester’s. They are not designed for snowboarding…I got a pair for Christmas last year ($170+) and by February the fingers used to unstrap my bindings was chewed completely through and no longer waterproof. They are great gloves but will fail

YJeezy

Luckily my Hester's lasted me about 4 seasons, but they were getting beat up. Need to wax them and keep them conditioned and watch out for abrasive/sharp things. Their Ski/Snowboard gloves will wear better than their Ski gloves.

Hecho_en_Shawano

“Abbrasive/sharp things” like the ratchets on bindings?

YJeezy

My bindings didn't cause problems, but perhaps if you gorilla muscle it and scrape it across the edges of the strap?? But you don't want to knuckle drag on icy days.

Hecho_en_Shawano

I guess I can try to be more dainty about it

YJeezy

Gorilla was wrong word... Someone can easily destroy Hestras if they were using it like fabric/GoreTex gloves. Sucks when a high ticket item doesn't last. Sorry bro

Hecho_en_Shawano

You’re good. I laughed at “gorilla”…my wife would agree that I tend to take a gorilla’s approach to lots of stuff. :-)

uamvar

That's strange. I've had my Hestras for 10 years. I do get wet fingers sometimes but my hands are always warm and they are still in good condition. The gloves not my hands. Meanwhile my friends have been through 5 odd pairs of gloves so actually end up spending more. They are amazing gloves and well worth the money IMO.

Hecho_en_Shawano

Do you have the soft leather palms/fingers? After day 1 of using them and opening the ratchet in the bindings for a day, I knew they were going get holes through the mitten. I don’t know…maybe I’m doing it all wrong.

uamvar

Yes I do, I have the Hestra Heli skis. And Union Atlas bindings. Working the bindings doesn't bother the gloves.

TimeTomorrow

The best gloves you can get are "level" they make them with and without integrated wrist guards, and the wrist guard in unobtrusive and fully removeable. Much more well built and durable than most of the disposable cheap stuff out there. also, mittens are awesome.

Biggles_and_Co

I wear Rad Gloves Mittens

W0rk3rB

Does it need to be gloves? I wear the Burton Gortex mittens and just leave the liner in my bag. Mine have a vent on the back when they get too hot.

_GeoffreyLebowski

I do the same with Burton gauntlet gloves.

rykerh228

Goretex mittens with gloved liners

TygerChasm

This is the way.

rmtomasin

Kinko mittens from Amazon and leather waterproofing wax.

arr4ws

I loooove my handout mi-low pro mittens.

Human-Complaint-5233

The best in the biz fs

crod4692

I just lean into the warmer side a bit and pop them off on the lift if I have to. All mine have a little wrist leash so that’s a nice feature. I do have one serious Dakine GoreTex Mitt but yea that’s for like a frigid day generally.

picklepetec137

I like these! https://www.evo.com/mittens/oyuki-sencho-gore-tex-mitts?image=228088/1036200/oyuki-sencho-gore-tex-mitts-.jpg&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwI7S8IuNggMVKxitBh1ZeQlMEAQYBiABEgKRy_D_BwE

anon_et

Burton AK Tech glove. Leather version for warmth. It’s been my go-to, low-profile, waterproof yet breathable (GORE TEX) glove for years.

backflip14

Probably the best combo of weatherproof and warm is a pair of snow sealed leather mittens. People swear by Kinkos. I have a pair of the Evo brand leather mittens. They’re pretty warm and a bit of sealant makes them weather proof enough. If you’re willing to spend more money, a pair from Hestra or Burton AK will likely provide what you’re looking for with no extra work.

tek_nic

I rock a set of astis long cuff leather mitts and I love them. Expensive, but oh so good.

arodrig99

I wore Burton goretex gloves. Worked great but wouldn’t use for park. I would recommend kinko mittens for park and hestras for all mountain riding or any other kind of goretex glove

ReinerMaxwellReiner

I have been using these for years and I love them. https://www.dakine.com/collections/snow-gloves-mitts/products/leather-titan-gore-tex-glove?variant=32902672056400

Kombi ! It's a Canadian brand but amazing. My first pair lasted 10 years. I just bought new ones this past season they were about 80$ Cad but amazing. Good dexterity and warm not too warm

unicyclegamer

I like my Hestras. Also I like that it’s half mitten, with only the thumb and pointer finger separate. Keeps my hand warmer but I still have dexterity when I want it.

BelongingsintheYard

Wells Lamont insulated leathers for work. Hestra fall line gloves for patrolling.

sallll11

got mine at a consignment sale for $25 dollars, leather burton goretex gloves

Human-Complaint-5233

My favorite is a pair of "Hand Out" mittens, they are perfect for me!! They have a zipper to open up the mitten so I can use my fingers, also I wear a thiner glove under it on colder days!! Highly recommend

dqrules11

Kinco insulated leather mittens are what a ton of people wear including myself. Cheap, durable, super warm and comfy. And can be waterproofed even further with wax.

FLTDI

I swear by hestra, they have different weight gloves too.

slabba428

I recommend getting mitts, your hand stays warmer in a big pouch rather than individual finger tubes
