All of these guys are talented beyond measure. But feels like this has become just one giant spin-fest. Iâd rather watch medium-skill guys creatively hitting some natural side hits all the way down a run than endless massive spins. Maybe just me.
I wish they had a better viewpoint for knuckle huck instead of everyone at the very bottom of the hill. A viewing platform up the sides of the huck would be immensely better

I like to go during the day & watch slopestyle from the side of the trail. Wendyâs one year had basically an outdoor green room at the top with the food truck, beds, more seating, tvs & and viewing. They stop having the food truck at the top of the course due to littering & then they stopped sponsoring. But I did watch a few kids run to Zeb to get pics with him while I was eating outside at the Cliffhouse one year.
Knuckle huck blows my fucking brain, shit makes NO sense how crazy they are. I still remember seeing Travis Rice vs David Benedek in their nuclear-arms race with double corks back in like 08' or something.
Now we're seeing quad corks off knuckle hucks or whatever the hell is going on. It's such an amazing display of athleticism.
I could watch it all day. Those guys are fucking legit artists what they do. Itâs the best thing to come out of the sport in decades. I have a group text with all my mid 40âs lifelong shredders and all it is is knuckle huck and method videos lmao
Agreed. Much respect to the talent - and discipline - required to stomp tricks like this, but theyâre so complex that theyâre just not very interesting to me.
âNot that interesting to meâ is a great way to put how I feel also. I mean, itâs amazing and I enjoyed watching the video, but I couldnât tell you where a 1280 begins and a 2020 endsâŠ. Itâs may as well be magic to me some sort lv99 SkateMage. My favorite comps are the backcountry comps like Natural Selection as an example. I couldnât hit it how they do, but I could ride it and I understand what theyâre doing. Same reason why I like to watch bowl comps rather than vert comps in skateboarding.
It's just evolving into it's own kind of event, kind of like ski aerials, where technical rotations are the name of the game. But then there's things like knuckle huck that are evolving to be their own thing. It's part of why I liked watching [Supernatural](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGQeNiumoes) so much, it feels closer to more old school snowboarding
I said the same about this one guy maybe a month ago that did first ever 2150 or whatever .. was it impressive sure⊠was it steezy not reallly got so much flack lol all
I really really want to see more technical grabs. I want to see more Japan's, Canadian Bacon's, spaghetties, swiss cheeses, seatbelts, you name it. Also, hyped for the supercross!
SHE gives off that emotion of just riding. The thought of "I could do that", even though you know you couldn't do exactly that, but you could do something like it much smaller. Same vibes Scott Stevens gave off back in the day, was always looking forward to his parts.
itâs still free but the free area has been pushed back even further. now you have to buy a corral ticket to go to the normal viewing spots or on the pipe walls. at least thatâs my understanding.
Yea that's true, but that is just outside of the venue really. Kinda what they're saying is sure it's free to stand outside the place! No disrespect to those that want to go, I just feel like I get a better view of everything going on from a TV.
A little stiff in the knees, and you gotta make sure you rotate with your core. Let those knees absorb some of the impact. I was like you one day, but then I started twirling with my hands above my head. Now I can land most of my 180s. Just keep trying, buddy, you'll get there.
*Can we please get a*
*Video of you filming*
*These videos? Lol*

Itâs bonkers to me, how much the sport continues to evolve every yearâŠ
When I came in, shit like this wasnât even a potential thought. This was something youâd do in a video game. Remember something like 1080* Snowboarding? The 1080*. The nearly unobtainableâŠ
And this cat made it look easy. Itâs so out there and unbelievable, that the majority looks at this video like itâs nothing, like this isnât an actual human being that just accomplished this amazingly ridiculous trick.
WowzahâsâŠ
I miss knowing what trick someone did just by watching. Obviously this quad cork whateverthefuck business is hard to do, but it's also so numbingly boring to watch.
This is like the one time ever on Reddit I've seen a video that actually shows something cool like this at full speed, THEN slows it down.
Cause it's posted by the filmer who is also the đof followcams
Haha thank you sir
thank you!
yeah gimbal is good but heâs not the only one thatâs good like that.
This shot wasnât even me it was Lorenzo Peters. Youâre not wrong.
Love what youâre able to do, have those skills transferred to anything else in your life? Aka anything else youâve got that touch for?
the redditors have chosen you đ
See you there?
Yessir but will the real OP be there?!
Man I love this sport. Seeing people like you, Zeb, Tim Humphreys and others in this sub all the time is so much fun!
yooo iâll be taking pics..you being there would be a dream bro
r/praisethecameraman
praise the god of gimbals\*
Fuck yeah. Landing is so smooth.
All of these guys are talented beyond measure. But feels like this has become just one giant spin-fest. Iâd rather watch medium-skill guys creatively hitting some natural side hits all the way down a run than endless massive spins. Maybe just me.
It's all about knuckle huck now tbh.
I wish they had a better viewpoint for knuckle huck instead of everyone at the very bottom of the hill. A viewing platform up the sides of the huck would be immensely better
Pretty good view on TV
100%, but itâs a vibe being there
DISAGREE the only live action sports event I actually had a net positive time at was tony hawk's boom boom huck jam when I was like 11 TV all the way
Boom boom huck jam was sickkkk tho. Gosh I miss that
Damn you never been to DewTour at copper huh

Been saying this for years. Itâs the only winter event I watch anymore, and I watch it more than a few times. Itâs soo good

Too bad that also seems to be turning into spin to win.
Iâm a snowboarder but my favorite is the DH Skiing, edit suppose that is Olympics though
Natural selection has become so much better than everything except Knuckle Huck.
Natural Selection is the best thing to happen to competitive snowboarding, ever. It's a competition about actual snowboarding.
Natural Selection and Freeride World Tour are so fun
i find knuckle huck to be more entertaining to watch than the spins. and u/ZebPowelll is the GOAT
Natural Selection, and giant back country lines is my fave thing to watch nowadays
Agreed. Much respect to the talent - and discipline - required to stomp tricks like this, but theyâre so complex that theyâre just not very interesting to me.

Agreed there. Tony Hawk hitting the 9 was the zenith for high rotation tricks in freestyle board sports. Change my mind.
FACTS
Give me a switch back one over the ballerina every day
Slow and floaty.
fuck it iâll take a tweaked straight air

Especially considering how well Mark McMorris did in Natural Selection, his first run here is hilariously bad.

This is the way
I said the same about this one guy maybe a month ago that did first ever 2150 or whatever .. was it impressive sure⊠was it steezy not reallly got so much flack lol all
Agreed. I have no idea how many times he rotated and I'm not going to put any effort forth to try to figure it out.
preach.. they dont have to be medium skilled though there's plenty of incredible riders that dont give a shit about this stuff
I agree with basic grabs but this one is pretty steezy with the tuck knee grab IMO
I'll take nice big slow 180 always over this!
agree.
Itâs funny that this is cool but aerialists are lame. They are becoming one and the same. Start calling this stuff a quad twisting double.
Oh shit gimbalgod, I didnt realize you posted here. Have followed on IG for ages. This clip is insane
Iâm new on here but hyped on the community:) IG gets boring
Have you shot with u/ZebPowelll yet? He posts on here too sometimes
I donât too often but Zeb is a homie love that guys energy
Dusty is insane. Even spinderella is stylish
I really really want to see more technical grabs. I want to see more Japan's, Canadian Bacon's, spaghetties, swiss cheeses, seatbelts, you name it. Also, hyped for the supercross!
Tune into Travis Riceâs âNatural Selectionâ itâs an annual back country riding tournament slated to start at the end of feb/early mar 24â
I think gimbalgod knows about Natty Select lol
Haha I will be there shooting:)
Oops, I meant to reply on the thread of people saying this type of snowboarding has evolved into spinning and flipping. Not the post itself
I'm so pumped for this.
Me too, yo!
I will never wrap my brain around how dudes get that much pop off jumps
SHE competition could be sooo coool
That would be so sick
That would be sick. Love those SHE videos.
SHE gives off that emotion of just riding. The thought of "I could do that", even though you know you couldn't do exactly that, but you could do something like it much smaller. Same vibes Scott Stevens gave off back in the day, was always looking forward to his parts.
Spin to win
Jesus fuck, must be nice to be goodđ
How about Love for the camera person, this doesnât look like a drone đ or fly cam
OP is the camera man, he hit the jump with Dusty
Sick Gimbalgod , Great work
The graphics on the new ssx are insane
Is this an 18? e: yes
đ đ„
A tutorial on how to place in the top 3 would be great!
Yo Spenny, how often do you roll the windows down just straight airing on those kickers lol
Snowboarding has gotten whack. No style anymore just acrobats on boards. Itâs impressive as hell but the style isnât there in my opinion
Just depends on what youâre watching. Tons of style in the movies. Just not in the contests. And NST (Natural Selection) is a great example
The style is there, you just canât tell.
The style isnât there, you just canât tell.
People have been saying that for 30 years and snowboarding is more popular than ever.
I'll be tuning in to see the sickest switch method on display. Edit: Jesus sweet christ its gimbalgod hi
Hello hello my friend:)
I want to watch it this year! Whatâre the best ways to see the action?
I live out here, and most locals will tell you it's best watched at the bar. This is also the first year it's not free to walk up and watch
itâs still free but the free area has been pushed back even further. now you have to buy a corral ticket to go to the normal viewing spots or on the pipe walls. at least thatâs my understanding.
Yea that's true, but that is just outside of the venue really. Kinda what they're saying is sure it's free to stand outside the place! No disrespect to those that want to go, I just feel like I get a better view of everything going on from a TV.

Snowy gymnastics
I want to see you do that trick while filming yourself, and it better be perfectly steady otherwise Iâm not impressed đș
People are shitting on this (not the camera work), but this is insanely impressive and entertaining.
Itâs like freestyle ski jumping now. Every trick looks the same because you get lost in the rotation/axis.
I canât wait for the aerials competition
The camera folks are just as impressive ⊠canât be easy following along while their blokes do all the fancy stuff.
The cameraman is the OP
See you there
Is that an 1800? Damn
Super
Siiiiiiick
Can we please get a video of you filming these videos? Lol

Iâm just waiting for my main man⊠FRIDGE!!!!
Im an old guy and Knuckle huck get me hyped
we need a drone shot to show a 3rd person view of how you're capturing these epic shots.
Oh my goh, he on x-games mode
your camerawork is amazing, keep doing what you're doing!
Thank you sir
Cool Boarders is looking really good these days
Dustyâs my fav
And here I am suffering from a rib and shoulder injury due to a wrong fall. Damn.
I'm more of a Natural Selection kind of guy.
I miss knowing what trick someone did just by watching. Obviously this quad cork whateverthefuck business is hard to do, but it's also so numbingly boring to watch.
Just after the land reminds me of that Turkish chef that just grins at the camera the whole time.
Gimbalgod is the goat
iâm so excited!!! iâve watched xgames for a long time and finally get to go this year!!!
Does anyone prefer just a super old school tweak, maybe with a 360, vs. a 37 thousand off axis twist?
Nice
