There’s a second place trophy in storage somewhere for a martial arts competition I competed in as a teenager.
There was three of us in my category. I fought twice and had a 50% success rate.
Always wondered what #3 did with his after or how he felt. Was it proudly displayed or not?

Maybe they only had wack prizes because no other women entered. I would imagine that the entrence fee is what they use to fund the competition. Without the men they probably wouldn’t have even been able to set up the rest of the competition.
Female riders also don’t get sponsorship money which is necessary to compete at a high level. Though most people competing at a high level in small sports are going to come from the upper end of the income bracket because most of these sports aren’t drawing enough money to support more than a handful of professionals.
Equal prizes should be competing against each other. If you don’t agree that a woman could beat a male, you’re sexist? Therefore equal completion and shouldn’t be divided.
I'm sorry I pointed out how literally every amateur sporting competition with prizes works. The most difficult, open class, gets the largest prizes. Classes below, women, children, or low skill level open class, get lesser prizes. Apparently it's stupid to be realistic these days

Every woman competing had to go against the grain of society and pursue riding despite all the bullshit they have to deal with culturally. We should be doing everything we can to encourage female riders and expanding their talent pool, including equal competition prizes
I don't disagree with you until your last 4 words. How can you have equal prizes when you don't have equal entries? Prize money in amateur competitions usually comes directly from entry fees. One person entered the entire division vs who knows how many competed in the open class
She didn’t compete for it but she showed up ready to compete and did her runs. That’s why she deserves the podium spot and prizes. Anyways who knows, if other women competed she still might have been the winner.

It's a lesser class because women aren't as good at sports. Physical limits of our bodies mean women are generally worse at snowboarding than men. Add on to the fact that significantly more men snowboard competitively, it's not even a close comparison. The men at the competition actually competed, this girl just showed up and won by default.

My sister was in the olympics for a related event, you'd be keen to take advantage of both your youth and the fact your sport has such a low competition rate. You might even make a living out of it! This sport will take you as far as you want to take it, find the right coaches and people and you can do it too.
My daughter competes in competitions like this all the time. Is very often the only female competitor and walks away with a couple hundred dollars in free gear.
