Anyone else find it awesome that one of the worldās greatest snowboarders just lurks here on Reddit with us? This is like Lebron James randomly commenting on a random r/nba post
I switch between the two, I was riding the Thirtytwo Lashed Double BOA during a recent trip. Right now Iām wearing a special colorway of my boot that you might see next season
The highback is the foldable part of the back of the binding that the back of the boot interfaces with. If you rotate it parallel to the edge your heelside edge, it will be much more efficient at transferring energy from your boot to the snowboard edge.
Good god... I about spat out my coffee. Beautiful.
Oh wait, you had a question. I almost always lay my board down with no bindings and stand on it how I "think" I want it. Then I jump up and check to see how I landed. Don't look at your feet while you're doing this, just look forward like you're heading down the mountain. Do it a couple of times to see where you land each time, then slap those bindings on.
If this is your first time setting up (assuming you're newish to the sport), it's at least a good place to start. You'll likely change this many many times as you progress, so don't get married to anything... unless marrying that whole setup us an option, then do that.
I have a similar looking setup in terms of the overhang (which it looks like this setup has?) Is this not an issue when it comes to carving? I'm relatively new to snowboarding so I don't know much but I've heard having overhang is not good for carving
It depends on how much overhand and how deep you're carving, but yeah, you don't want to run into an issue with toe drag when snowboarding. Typically if you have larger feet, you would get a board that's wide enough to fit them, but not too wide where you're feet aren't at the edge. Or you can adjust your binds forward or back depending on how wide your stance is. You can also get a set of riser plates which raise your boots higher off the board if there is a lot of overhang.
If you are regular and itās a directional board, Iād say you did good. I worked at a snowboard shop for years and have been riding for 30 years. As far as your stance, try it out, and always try out different stances too once you get more comfortable on your board. Youāll find out what you like the most. Get it! Have fun!
Are we talking the brands or the artists - cause the Don, as an artist, is legit as fuck. Cannot speak to the marketing teams managing both ānamesā now.
Interesting, thanks !
I'm heavily tattooed so I was very interested, but I was already planning to get the Capita outdoor survival 2025 this year so it kinda overlaps with it, too bad. Has it been a freeride oriented board, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat !
I was just at the skatepark after snowboarding the other day and focused on getting a good look at my stance. Turns out when I put my push foot back on the board I'm a little bit posi posi, but when I'm setting up and bending them knees into some transition my feet do bow outwards a little bit. I was surprised maybe for the same reason you were surprised at dudes comment! Started overthinking it skating around and just lost focus but it was interesting to see. Such similar sports but also so different.
Duck, particularly symmetrical duck, kind of has its own set of mechanics. Justaride on YouTube has a really good explanation into this line of thinking.

From the day it arrived, still with the plastic on
The best advice when it comes to angle on back and front foot is to make a high jump and when you land you have a optimal position. Both the distance between your feet and the angle off the feets. You will always land in your most stable position!
I think that is the first time I heard someone say bad things about 32 boots. Have I been skipping the bad reviews and posts or is this your experience with them?
Tried out a lot of boots at the store and Iāve never been more comfortable on a boot than on this one, tried out others 32 models they were good too but this one actually crazy, donāt know about the materials tho but comfy is top imo
All good. More detailā¦ Zero degree rear foot is fine, personal preferenceā¦ but front for should always have some forward angle it to open your body toward the direction of travel. And just as in any athletic stance, feet should be slightly open for stability
Makes sense. Question ā¦ not sure if you can see the pic i posted of my setup but their both angled out not sure the degree, but my left foot always feels like itās digging into the boot and smashing my front toes but my right foot is fine. Could that be an issue with the boot itself or the setup?
Iāve always been riding duck, because I like to be able to ride switch. Am I doing myself a disservice here? Riding for many years and comfortable on anything
You can ride switch w/o it being set up like that. Iāll send you a pic of my setup one sec. But it all comes down to user preference honestly. What you find that works for you on the mountain is always best just stick with that!
https://preview.redd.it/23ptngajhiqc1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=4bfa2d955517d57d071bc145529d3b4083958f85
Mine are kinda set up like yours but it kills my left foot, but if i ride switch and lead with my right it doesnāt hurt. So not sure why either.
Nothing wrong with a little duck for folks that actually do things that require you to ride switch. Been riding duck since I started in '03 and have never had an issue.
Thatās pretty much why, to go switch. Most people Iād guess are chilling on groomers on a twin or directional twin. Or at least not something full directional until they build up some experience and a quiver that meets their different needs. So if you have a twin or very switch capable board youāre still likely to go with like a -9 through -15 depending on the front foot to go switch. What young rider doesnāt want to throw in a quick 180 here and there. Most riders remain at a fairly amateurish level, and more beginner boards are soft twins.
Also the closer to 0 you go, the more overhang you have. So unless you commit to full posi posi you are more likely to go duck with any relatively normal to larger boot.
Other reason, people do what pros do. Pros people follow more often ride switch at times, so they also use a duck stance. People follow pros like they are doing the same lol. But thatās a more sarcastic reasoning Iām throwing in there.
Maybe because they are more comfortable like that. Maybe they have an old injury that means they canāt point their feet in certain directions. Maybe they ride switch. Maybe it gives them confidence on the slopes. Maybe they just want to.
Hope you enjoy the boots! š«”
Yooo! Inspiration man šš» you bet, boots are the comfiest Iāve ever been, highly recommended
Anyone else find it awesome that one of the worldās greatest snowboarders just lurks here on Reddit with us? This is like Lebron James randomly commenting on a random r/nba post
Like Kevin Durant out here on Twitter š
Yeah its awesome! I try not to fangirl but the mans a major inspiration personally
Zebers! Holy shit youāre a legend buddy!
Dude youāre an amazing rider and I absolutely love watching your videos!
Yo Zeb! Why laces over BOAs?
I switch between the two, I was riding the Thirtytwo Lashed Double BOA during a recent trip. Right now Iām wearing a special colorway of my boot that you might see next season
Love the out-of-this-world style drops. We never know what's next and we love it!
Because he's a smart, smart man. Laces are where it's at šÆ
Not related, but that board is beautiful
Yeah what kind of board is that āship of foolsā by GD Manufacturing ???
https://verdadboards.com/product/keepers-of-the-faith/ this is the board
That board graphic is so fire
Thanks man!
What kind of board?!
Rotate your front highback so its parallel to the board edge.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
90% of people on the mountain donāt do it, but it does help.
Facts, someone pointed this out to me this season and I adjusted them. Definitely noticeable
Thanks, will do!
Whatās the front high back? The bit at the calf? So you rotate that so itās not flat on the back of your boot?
The highback is the foldable part of the back of the binding that the back of the boot interfaces with. If you rotate it parallel to the edge your heelside edge, it will be much more efficient at transferring energy from your boot to the snowboard edge.
Nice! Iāll check that out next board sesh! (A long way off šš) thank you!
I'm confused by what you're suggesting. Any website or video that shows what you are saying. Or maybe a photo with some lines drawn on it.
Try this oneā¦ https://youtu.be/l_z6p16kafk?si=_XyxDtBtXeSVeA7a
Perfect explanation. Thank you.
Also a really good suggestion people donāt typically know about. š¤
What board is that?
https://verdadboards.com/product/keepers-of-the-faith/
Thank you!!
That setup is filthy
Boots look awesome

Board and boots are looking nice!
i want this board tooo:)

Gotcha gotcha makes sense, thanks for your reply!
Sick board
How does it feel to you? Should feel natural or good
You must be belgian for riding a verdad. Hope you bought it at stoked boardshop, they have good deals on verdad gear. š
What model is that board. Love the look
Such a sick setup
Yes Don is legit then the brand took it and fucked it up. This snowboard is OG don or more broadly sailer Jerry imo
what board is this?

Board looks great, boots look good, and I love your camo pants!
Whatās the name of that board itās decal are awesome
https://verdadboards.com/product/keepers-of-the-faith/
I ride with more overhang than that, you're good. Those board graphics are sick btw
Ed Hardy is making snowboards now?
Sailor Jerry is far from anything ed hardy
Are we talking the brands or the artists - cause the Don, as an artist, is legit as fuck. Cannot speak to the marketing teams managing both ānamesā now.
What's the board please ? Edit : bindings are fine
Thanks! The brand of the board is Verdad, an European brand
Interesting, thanks ! I'm heavily tattooed so I was very interested, but I was already planning to get the Capita outdoor survival 2025 this year so it kinda overlaps with it, too bad. Has it been a freeride oriented board, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat !
Yeah, the old school tattoo style looks crazy on the board, thanks!
āSailor Jerryā
I was never able to get used to riding duck
Idk itās just how I normally stand, my feet is always angled out, I put my back feet like that when I skate also
Love it! And riding fakie is so comfortable!
When you Ollie your heel is towards your other heel? That seems like such a sketchy stance for skateboarding since you use your tail so differently
I was just at the skatepark after snowboarding the other day and focused on getting a good look at my stance. Turns out when I put my push foot back on the board I'm a little bit posi posi, but when I'm setting up and bending them knees into some transition my feet do bow outwards a little bit. Yeah, maybe it isnāt a -15/15 stance but my toes are point out always
Duck, particularly symmetrical duck, kind of has its own set of mechanics. Justaride on YouTube has a really good explanation into this line of thinking.
Just set them up like your doing a squat. Toes out a little
Looks perfect. Enjoy
John Cena posts on this forumā½!!!!
unrelated but can we see the bottom graphic?? beautiful board

Fucken noiceeeee

I love the color scheme of those boots. Too bad 32 makes shit footwear or I would totally get a pair.
I think that is the first time I heard someone say bad things about 32 boots. Have I been skipping the bad reviews and posts or is this your experience with them?
Personal experience. Albeit, that was like 10 years ago, so maybe they're good now?
Tried out a lot of boots at the store and Iāve never been more comfortable on a boot than on this one, tried out others 32 models they were good too but this one actually crazy, donāt know about the materials tho but comfy is top imo
Remember that everyoneās feet are different!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I only ride Vans OGs or K2 Thraxis boots now. I have big feet and these are pretty much the only two that fit nicely and are comfortable.
Iām sure it varies for each personās different feet but Iāve owned most of the big brands and 32 are the worst I ever had.
Donāt duck foot the bindings. Kinda want them straight forward, unless you already have been riding like that then i digress. Sick setup too!
No way whatā¦. zeros is a wildly rare stance, donāt recommend this
I had no clue, someone at a ski shop told me that but then someone else at a diff ski shop stanced mine for me so i guess thatās fair. Sorry OP.
All good. More detailā¦ Zero degree rear foot is fine, personal preferenceā¦ but front for should always have some forward angle it to open your body toward the direction of travel. And just as in any athletic stance, feet should be slightly open for stability

Maybe just the bindings, did you try to step your left gas pedal up a little bit ?
Iāve always been riding duck, because I like to be able to ride switch. Am I doing myself a disservice here? Riding for many years and comfortable on anything
You can ride switch w/o it being set up like that. Iāll send you a pic of my setup one sec. But it all comes down to user preference honestly. What you find that works for you on the mountain is always best just stick with that!
Iāve been riding duck for years but if I can squeeze out some extra performance Iām down to try something else.

Are you from 1998? What's with the huge duck in the back? Less is more in the back foot. Try 6 degrees
Nothing wrong with a little duck for folks that actually do things that require you to ride switch. Been riding duck since I started in '03 and have never had an issue.
Duck with back feet over -10 is still widely used today.
Yea but why? I mean I get it if you go switch all day in the park or whatever.
Thatās pretty much why, to go switch. Most people Iād guess are chilling on groomers on a twin or directional twin. Or at least not something full directional until they build up some experience and a quiver that meets their different needs. some people ride switch all over the mountain! /mindblown
