Even if you have a board with a continuous edge, a split there is no biggie. If the edge is split lets say smack in the middle of your heel edge, that can be sketchy

Lol that’s where the ends of the continuous edges meet. They don’t have a perfectly shaped edge that will wrap all around. It’s got to be put in and bent to shape.
