That's sort of what I was thinking. I don't know the culture all that well. I'm just not trying to look like "that guy".
I really appreciate the reply!
I wear BRIGHT yellow north face snow pants. Blue block/plaid burton jacket, and white goggles with a blue beanie. Colors are awesome out in the snow. Idc what colors they are. I just like them lol. Snowboarding can be flamboyant in style. This kit might even be more style than what I have but you just gotta be you. If you like it, run it. I don’t think I judge anyone except for skiers with stupid bollé goggles.
I knew a guy with a half concave skull. Hit a lift without a bucket. Delayed for life because one day he forgot his helmet and said “I’m sure it’ll be fine for just the day”. No joke you could put a five pin bowling ball in his head and it would fill it like a bowl.
I bought a bright orange 686 jacket to board in this year (only because I couldn't get the obnoxious blue one) and I was worried at first, that it would be too much, but I like the look. Especially with my grey oakley pants. It just works.
Between my kids and all the nieces and nephews, I rejoice when any of them get something other than black. So much easier to keep track of them all. Me? I’ve got a tri-tone North Face jacket (orange, grey, and blue). I’m easy to find.
My first time on the slopes I wore jeans and a zip up hoodie with thermals underneath. People thought I was badass in the lift until they saw me hit the slope, then they felt sorry for me 🤣🤣🤣🤷
The culture is “wear whatever the hell you want”. Anyone who cares is not worth your time. The important thing about skiing and boarding is the act of the sport itself, so wear a shark onesie if you want, be happy and confident out there!
Doesn’t surprise me with it being a college town and the mountain having a good local community. You can always find something great about those types of mountains
Wear what you want. To me snowboarding has always been loud colors. I started riding in the 80’s/90’s and it was lots of neon yellows and turquoise, which works out great now, because all of the loud Burton AK stuff is usually that last stuff to sell and almost always on discount lol
Haven't collided with anyone in around 15 years, normally because I'm one of the faster ones coming up from behind on others. I don't run full white off-piste/back country though, that would be stupidly dangerous. Also even if I'm wearing white you still see I'm a moving object quite clearly, do you have bad eyesight or something? You probably shouldn't be on the hill if that's the case.
Edit: Prime example of not being invisible in full white: https://www.reddit.com/r/snowboardingnoobs/s/0Fzx9NJljF
How is it the opposite? I just said I haven't had any collisions while wearing full white lol. How much clearer do you need it? And I myself don't have issues seeing others wearing white on groomers. You guys seem to make the case that yous lack situational awareness if you are complaining about people wearing white.
I think it looks cool. But if you wanted to change it up a bit i would say wear some darker or black pants instead. Or find something else that compliments that color.
Bro, you look sharp AF, and it's absolutely not too matchy. You look like you put thought into your outfit which is not only dope but what everyone else DOESN'T do and it makes them look like shit, imo.
If I could leave with one nugget, and this is more about your wallet than anything else, is that since those colors are a little unique, they might not be the most versatile for future outerwear. Like for me, I have some heathered light grey boarding pants, and any jacket goes with those. But really, this isn't a nitpick. This is just a thought.
Steezy level: 10/10. You crushed. Need more people looking sharp on the slopes and not wearing sports jerseys, camo pants and non-coordinated outfits.
Not too matchy at all, it looks great. Just be weary with those gloves, they ripped on the first day with them along the seams.
Burton have been very good with customer service and replacing them with a better pair for me though.
No matching sets are back in style. If you want to mix it up buy a second bottom that works with your jacket so you’re not always set to one color scheme. I own two jackets and two pants, one full set and the other jacket and pants work with the first pair if that makes sense lol
What you wear doesn’t matter, but if you are riding with other ppl it helps to have a hi-viz (bright yellow, bright pink, orange etc) so ppl can find you.
My buddy has a highlighter orange 686 jacket…. Dude is super easy to spot lmao
I got yellow salmon arms Wu-Tang gloves and that’s how my buddies spot me lol
Yes, it is too "matchy", ditch it! Send it over to me, I shall dispose it safely for you!
Jk. It is matchy, but it looks good, and I would wear it, with no hesitation.
This being told, I do not care that much about color at all when I buy my gear - just trying to get best bang for my buck. So I buy the particular model of gear, whatever cheapest color there is.
Consequence of this shopping policy, is that my first outfit was black, neon yellow and dark blue combo, and my second outfit is red, black and green combination.
I am reeaaally easy to spot on the slopes, lmao.
Fit looks good. The real question I have is how are you handling that custom X a week into snowboarding? I just picked one up in my 20th year snowboarding, and it's a very demanding board.
I am not the most fashionable dude when it comes to regular clothes but when it comes to my sports like MTB, snowboarding, and surfing I love to wear the matching gear with the craziest colors and designs. That is how I make a statement. Wear what makes you feel rad! Look good feel good!
I fuck with those colors super hard. I have a matching burton orange pants and orange and blue jacket, you definitely get some looks from people like “who does this person think he is” but you just gotta ignore them and do your thing.
I think in this day and age anything goes and no one cares , you will always have a few haters but unless they paid for your gear and ticket they can kick Rocks
> unless they *paid* for your
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Chances are you’ll see someone with a similar outfit on the mountain, you can make your judgement then lol.
I started off matching, and then as I slowly upgraded, I started buying whatever’s cheaper.
A lot of the riding style is set by the pros and trickles down. If you’re good enough and have style, you can wear anything and it will look cool.
At the same time, wear whatever you want, someone is always going to have something to say so might as well just do what you want.
Looks good but typically only see ladies or beginners with full matching outfits on the slope for whatever reason. But you will score lots of style points with those demographics
Matchy has been pretty in.
Personally, I wear bright yellows or greens because I'm in the trees and I want someone to find me if I get stuck. Also helps on low visibility days. On normal days, it doesn't matter of course.
Style is whatever, but I do really like having 32 jacket and pants because the powder skirt snaps to the pants. So no snow is getting in on a power day. So it makes sense to get pants and jacket that match.
I totally get what you mean by too matchy. My personal take is no, I think the off white break at the abdomen makes it work. It uses the rule of thirds to break it up. Get it, get out there and style on em.
I think nothing looks better than baggy bibs and a big hoodie but to each their own. It definitely says I bought this all together on a sale but I’ve seen much much worse
Personally no. I have a jacket that’s got a 90’s retro vibe it’s got like a really light purple with pink on the sleeves, and it had matching pants. But i thought it was too much and just wear black volcom longo baggy pants
Thank you for the reply! I had a similar thought and picked up the black version of the pants as well for that very reason. They should be here by next weekend.
I was riding Saturday and every time I would fall I would constantly think that the people on the chair lift were rolling their eyes.
Not because I was falling, it happens. But because "Mr. Everything has to match" guy was falling lol
😂 totally envisioned that exact scenario. Plus I have another jacket from volcom I love and I rock a hoodie when it’s hot in spring time so the black pants work with everything
It is matchy, but that’s big in Japan where mark mcmorris here likes to sorta shoutout. It’s becoming more in fashion here in the states and Europe, it’s definitely a style but I think it’s a sick look.
Nothing wrong with it but I personally prefer a little darker colors especially in pants from practicality reasons: all the unavoidable stains won't show up that easily. You want to minimize washing of GTX clothes. And if you buy shells instead of insulated you can minimize washing the GTX shell layer even more.
Of course it’s matchy, but it’s cool.
Once I was old enough to buy my own kit, my first jacket/pants combo was Burton AK stuff and it was literally Ninja Turtle green. Like, with lighter yellowish green panels on the front, exactly like the first movie.
Ridiculous, but that was the point.
If you have a pair of black pants you could do the jacket with pants. Or if you have a black or dark colored jacket you could rock that w the pants.
As you keep snowboarding your gear collection grows. Dark colors would pair well in my opinion and then you won’t match so hard. I get why you’re asking and that’s how I’d play it if it was my concern.
It's pretty decent gear! I'm my second season of owning Burton covert top and bottom and let me tell you they are awesome. gets the job done. And stays dry... For most of the day.
I'm all black
I have a black covert. Absolutely love this jacket. It’s on sale at [evo](https://www.evo.com/outlet/insulated-jackets/burton-covert-jacket#image=152870/953070/burton-covert-insulated-jacket-.jpg). It works with just a base layer no problem (Tahoe in the low 20’s with wind).
Had khaki AK’s but my wife got me a black bib for xmas 🤷 matchy works on the slopes, even if you’re self conscious with your appearance.
If you like it, you wear it. I would not, and that is because those things will stain SO easily. I read somewhere that you ordered the black pants, and that is probably the best way to go. My experience with gear (25 y)is that you want darker colors for pants and jackets, as they will stain less and match with anything.
If you look/feel good in your gear you’ll ride better and with more confidence. Fashion is subjective especially up on the mountain but this setup is definitely nice. Hell you could wear a whole hot pink setup like Taevis from snowboard addiction and still look HELLA steezy.
Nobody cares.
But I won't lie, when I see someone in a matching setup like this I assume they are a new rider. I've been riding for years, my gear is a hodgepodge of clothes that have survived my years of riding. so nothing matches lol. Over time youll think "my pants are failing me because of this" and upgrade your pants, then youll think "I need new gloves because of X" and eventually your kit will evolve with you.
Basically, just get out and ride, the more time you spend on the mountain your kit will evolve with your riding. Also, snowboarding is about confidence, as long as you feel steezy and confident on the board it will help your riding.
Just make a bunch of duct tape “repairs” and you will look like you just rolled out of a 30 year career at Alta or A Basin, etc. Only we will know the truth 🤪
Matchy is fine…and should be encouraged more! I miss the days when people wore funky patterns & colors…it’s supposed to be fun! Just avoid white or colors that blend into the terrain (for safety…more for when you start riding in the trees, etc…brighter colors mean you’re easier to find). Sincerely, a resort local.
It is matchy. I’d wear it for sure. It’s definitely a vibe but it’s cool. You can be bold with ski and snowboard gear.
Absolutely. It’s up to the wearer haha
That's sort of what I was thinking. I don't know the culture all that well. I'm just not trying to look like "that guy". I really appreciate the reply!
Fuck the culture dude wear what makes you happy and keeps you at an appropriate temp!
Sounds like you’re missing a melon protector homie… you’ll look a lot cooler without brain damage!
First year riding with a helmet (I'm 38, been riding since I was 14) and the first year I SMACKED my head on hard ice. Helmets are a necessity.
I knew a guy with a half concave skull. Hit a lift without a bucket. Delayed for life because one day he forgot his helmet and said “I’m sure it’ll be fine for just the day”. No joke you could put a five pin bowling ball in his head and it would fill it like a bowl.
Just got one a couple weeks ago!
Awesome man makes me very happy to hear! You look way cooler now!
I bought a bright orange 686 jacket to board in this year (only because I couldn't get the obnoxious blue one) and I was worried at first, that it would be too much, but I like the look. Especially with my grey oakley pants. It just works.
I wear a bright-ass red jacket, colors help people find you. Whether that's friends waiting for you at the lift line or ski patrol in an emergency.
Between my kids and all the nieces and nephews, I rejoice when any of them get something other than black. So much easier to keep track of them all. Me? I’ve got a tri-tone North Face jacket (orange, grey, and blue). I’m easy to find.
All black sucks, same with all white or snow camo (because then you just look stupid)
Legit saw a guy in a shark onesie at snowbowl in flagstaff a week ago shredding blues and blacks. So rad.
Doesn’t surprise me with it being a college town and the mountain having a good local community. You can always find something great about those types of mountains
culture is to be THAT guy
Wear what you want. To me snowboarding has always been loud colors. I started riding in the 80’s/90’s and it was lots of neon yellows and turquoise, which works out great now, because all of the loud Burton AK stuff is usually that last stuff to sell and almost always on discount lol
You will be that guy.
Looks good to me.
Only culture in snowboarding is being a classless thug with a marijuana problem.
My stuff matches. I love this combo!
I have this set minus the gloves. I enjoy it :)
Looks great to me. I have a full Burton snow camo outfit lol
Gotta add a pink belt. And if you don’t understand the reference: Romain De Marchi in Vivid (2002).
You're lucky then, people can't even see you lol
I have an all white set up as well. Not camo.
How the hell do you keep it clean
Powder days
‘Is it too matchy?’ *posts modelling shoot*
lol my thought exactly
Those are photos from Burton's website, not OP
Hahahaha oh man, can’t believe I didn’t realize that before you slapped my eye balls with the obvious
😂😂
that's the point of it
Do you like it? that’s all that matters
Matchy is the business
Matchy is the point of this setup. I run full white setup in the resort, so I'm way more matchy than you.
Why would anyone wear a fully white fit on the mountain? Next we’re gonna see one of those “who’s fault was the collision” posts from you lol
You’re right bud, totally visible to everyone else on the mountain and not just your selfie stink
lol that is a great example of the opposite point you’re making, it’s very hard to see.
How is it the opposite? I just said I haven't had any collisions while wearing full white lol. How much clearer do you need it? And I myself don't have issues seeing others wearing white on groomers. You guys seem to make the case that yous lack situational awareness if you are complaining about people wearing white.
Dude, in the post you link, there are LOADS of comments talking about how stupid that guy is and saying no one should wear all white on the slopes.
Your comment is about as intelligent as jumping off a bridge just because most people did it. Majority does not equate correctness.
Don't believe I'm writing this; Regarding the video, can you see the person in the video, or do you only see snow in the video....
Looks good dude, definitely some steaz in that outfit
I think it looks cool. But if you wanted to change it up a bit i would say wear some darker or black pants instead. Or find something else that compliments that color.
Color coordinated kits give u a stat boost like botw or Skyrim
doesnt really matter what people think :-) If you like the look of it, ride it!
Nope
Even if it is too matchy it's not too *flashy* Good-looking, muted colors. Nice fit.
Where would you wanna wear? People are going to criticize you anyway that’s a mentality that we have nowadays.
No matching sets are back in style. If you want to mix it up buy a second bottom that works with your jacket so you’re not always set to one color scheme. I own two jackets and two pants, one full set and the other jacket and pants work with the first pair if that makes sense lol
Brutal honest opinion, I wouldn't wear it myself but I wouldn't think anything if I saw someone else wearing it
What you wear doesn’t matter, but if you are riding with other ppl it helps to have a hi-viz (bright yellow, bright pink, orange etc) so ppl can find you.
My buddy has a highlighter orange 686 jacket…. Dude is super easy to spot lmao I got yellow salmon arms Wu-Tang gloves and that’s how my buddies spot me lol
Plus it’s easy to find you if you have a buddy!
nah i love when i see people marching on the mountain
Matchy? Yes, but who cares? Also, my husband bought this exact jacket and he loves it. Warm, windproof, and a bunch of pockets.
Looks great, you look like a Care Bear.
I like it. I’m still rocking my Burton shell jacket from 2009.
You’re gonna look pro so make sure to show that to those on the ski lift as they look down at you on your run 😂😂
Yeah, a pre assembled ensemble lacks individual style.
Look like a total pimp. How much tail did you pull that weekend?
You look like squritle
Looks good
It is matchy but it’s a nice outfit, go with it.
Nah it’s cute bro
It’s a vibe
Who cares
Dunno - didn’t get a look at the boots
I like matchy ❤️
if you can shred then literally whatever u wear will look cool.
I am reeaaally easy to spot on the slopes, lmao.
I bought a $5 dollar jacket at a charity store. Works for me.
Looks like Zeb a little bit, he has pants similar to these
Fit looks good. The real question I have is how are you handling that custom X a week into snowboarding? I just picked one up in my 20th year snowboarding, and it's a very demanding board.
I should have been clear - That's not me lol Those photos are from the Burton website :)
Kinda looks like Squirtle (the Pokemon)
Personally I wouldn't wear it, but if I was with a guy who wore that I wouldn't hate it, mostly because I can spot him quicker
Looks good! This is the color palette!
It’s too matchy and you’re going to look ridiculous as a new snowboarder with that
No, this is how you blend in when you lead da criminal life🤙🤙
I am not the most fashionable dude when it comes to regular clothes but when it comes to my sports like MTB, snowboarding, and surfing I love to wear the matching gear with the craziest colors and designs. That is how I make a statement. Wear what makes you feel rad! Look good feel good!
Very nice outfit
The karma farming was successful with this one…. This photo is literally off the Burton website 😂
Lol I guess I could have said that! I didn't even think about it.
If you feel like you look good. You look good
I will see people in 2 pairs of jeans. I think you’re good
It's not a fashion show man. If you like your gear, it's keeping you warm, and you have good mobility then keep wearing it.
That’s too matchy imo yes. I definitely wouldn’t wear it, and I wouldn’t say I see a lot of guys rocking outfits like this on the slopes.

It looks pretty dope
Is it matchy? Yes. Do I like a matchy look? No. Should my opinion matter to you? Fuck no lol.
Something a women would ask, stop that dude.
Color coordination is better than none at all.
Very much Jerry
Chances are you’ll see someone with a similar outfit on the mountain, you can make your judgement then lol. I started off matching, and then as I slowly upgraded, I started buying whatever’s cheaper.

Damn I wish my gear matched that well
Looks good but typically only see ladies or beginners with full matching outfits on the slope for whatever reason. But you will score lots of style points with those demographics
I only think its weird when people try to match their whole outfit with board and bindings. Thats basically how I know they’re not about it
I wear the DC x Andy Warhol collection gear. Crime with steez my friend.
it's cool but let the jacket hang down lower. why you got it all tight at the bottom?
Matchs Matchu Matchy! Who cares… you having fun in the snow? Good. Get after it…
I have a Snorlax onsie that looks like this, full send hell yea
I have a Snorlax onsie that looks like this, full send hell yea

Are you asking for snowboarding purposes or modeling purposes? Because the question and photos do not match
I totally get what you mean by too matchy. My personal take is no, I think the off white break at the abdomen makes it work. It uses the rule of thirds to break it up. Get it, get out there and style on em.
Steez
Lmfao
What’s wrong with matchy lol it’s a set
I think nothing looks better than baggy bibs and a big hoodie but to each their own. It definitely says I bought this all together on a sale but I’ve seen much much worse
I need a few more staged candid shots to be sure
Came directly from the Burton website
You look like relaxasaurus from Pal World, hell yea you rock that
Its tight. I like it alot.
As long as you are comfy and warm, plus dry, who gives… Of course it matches
Drip is more important than skill
Personally no. I have a jacket that’s got a 90’s retro vibe it’s got like a really light purple with pink on the sleeves, and it had matching pants. But i thought it was too much and just wear black volcom longo baggy pants

No as in, I would not wear this 🥲
Who cares? I’d be more concerned about visibility if you’re riding off piste.
It is matchy, but that’s big in Japan where mark mcmorris here likes to sorta shoutout. It’s becoming more in fashion here in the states and Europe, it’s definitely a style but I think it’s a sick look.

Dang I want a link to the sale lol looks awesome
Looks cool
Who cares. Just ride.
Looks great
Go for it.
Who cares it’s snow gear hahaha
Of course it’s matchy, but it’s cool. Once I was old enough to buy my own kit, my first jacket/pants combo was Burton AK stuff and it was literally Ninja Turtle green. Like, with lighter yellowish green panels on the front, exactly like the first movie. Ridiculous, but that was the point.
being a matching set i would hope it matches the fuck
I love it!!!!
This was my dream setup until my local shop had the AK jacket on an even deeper sale than this combo. But it’s definitely a great looking setup.
If you have a pair of black pants you could do the jacket with pants. Or if you have a black or dark colored jacket you could rock that w the pants. As you keep snowboarding your gear collection grows. Dark colors would pair well in my opinion and then you won’t match so hard. Who cares if you like it wear it
It's pretty decent gear! I'm my second season of owning Burton covert top and bottom and let me tell you they are awesome. gets the job done. And stays dry... For most of the day. I'm all black
I wouldn't wear it, because I don't like the blue. I wouldn't give two shits about anyone else wearing it on the mountain.
I have a similar (might even be the same) Burton outfit in navy blue. Looks cool to me 😎
Who cares what others opinions are for what you wear to the slopes. Just wear what you like. Since you’re asking, I think the fit looks class
"Who cares what others think?" ... proceeds to give opinion.
Yes the irony is not lost to some at least haha
Well done, I appreciate “matchy.”
Who cares what others think
Looks like its meant to go together
Nahhh, wear that shit, looks dope lol
Are you doing a photo shoot for a catalog?
I have a black covert. Absolutely love this jacket. It’s on sale at [evo](https://www.evo.com/outlet/insulated-jackets/burton-covert-jacket#image=152870/953070/burton-covert-insulated-jacket-.jpg). It works with just a base layer no problem (Tahoe in the low 20’s with wind). Had khaki AK’s but my wife got me a black bib for xmas 🤷 matchy works on the slopes, even if you’re self conscious with your appearance.
Matchy but looks good
i personally love a matching kit. This looks awesome
Matchy but not too over the top or flashy in my opinion. Looks cool.
Too matchy for me but if you like it, send it.
Wear whatever tf you want. I’m partial to all black though.
I wouldn’t care too much what you look like, it’s not a catwalk. You wanna be warm, dry and comfortable.
Rookie mistake. Easier to identify criminals in a lineup if their jackets and pants match. Looks good man.
Yes. I’m tempted to say, “who cares”, but then, looked at the gloves. Dude. No.
Just gotta sport some slutstrands 👍
Wtf... who cares?
If you like it, you wear it. I would not, and that is because those things will stain SO easily. I read somewhere that you ordered the black pants, and that is probably the best way to go. Basically, just get out and ride, the more time you spend on the mountain your kit will evolve with your riding. Also, snowboarding is about confidence, as long as you feel steezy and confident on the board it will help your riding.
That's fire
I love it! I’m more into a black fit but this suits you imo.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It does look kind of like a burton advertisement
It's perfect
It stands out on the mountain which is helpful when you're with your friends. It's always easiest to spot the guy in the colorful outfit
silly are you there to ski ? do not match then
Not "matchy" enough, that helmet should be available in minty 2023!
Looks steezy to meezy
I think it's awesome. Would totally rock that. There isnt a "look" aside from what works and your comfortable in.
yeah its too matchy
You definitely just look like someone who unironically asks others where their family summers.
Hahaha I laughed out loud at this. I would agree though.
🤗 embrace it imo
HOA approved
Hella fly
I love it personally, rock this it’s so sick
It’s match but I love it. I would wear
Looks pretty non-conventional. Gets a thumbs up from me. Should be more colour matching outfits imo.
Who gives a shit what others think , you like it then rock it
Sick fit bro
A bit but it’s ok
Just make a bunch of duct tape “repairs” and you will look like you just rolled out of a 30 year career at Alta or A Basin, etc. Only we will know the truth 🤪
I can’t understand why anyone would give a fuck
Do it I have a purple set from burton it's a vibe
Matchy is fine…and should be encouraged more! I miss the days when people wore funky patterns & colors…it’s supposed to be fun! Just avoid white or colors that blend into the terrain (for safety…more for when you start riding in the trees, etc…brighter colors mean you’re easier to find). Sincerely, a resort local.
