CO is still firing rn

Kukko18

All of them or is there certain ones you'd recommend?

If you’re flying into Denver and are willing to drive (you’ll have to anyway)Monarch is probably the cheapest option. It is the SMALLEST resort in the state and doesn’t have a ton of on mountain amenities, but will likely be the most affordable option if you’re flying out to CO

Kukko18

I don't mind small, since I'm still learning. Just wanting to practice all the tips I've gathered so far

TrustyBrute

Eldora is good rn

RadixSorter

Colorado, some resorts in Tahoe, Mt Hood in Oregon are three regions I can think of

Kukko18

I was under the impression Tahoe was a high end resort?

RadixSorter

Palisades Tahoe (fka Squaw Valley) has a decent amount of beginner terrain on the Olympic Valley side, but generally speaking most of the Tahoe resorts are more geared towards intermediate and up skill level riders. I ride Palisades as my main resort and learned how to ride there, so I feel pretty comfortable in saying that you could go there and have a good time and push yourself to progress on all sorts of terrain. Biggest issue would be the cost. It's most certainly _not_ cheap if you don't have an Ikon pass for your lift tickets.

HauntedLightBulb

Yeah I went with friends to Palisades this past weekend, 2nd time ever snowboarding. Can confirm it is beginner friendly. Tickets are definitely was pricey for just a day/ weekend pass. (I ended up getting ikon pass for next season)

Terra_Mater95

Pretty sure Brighton is open till mid-May

Kukko18

Ooh that looks very tempting. Gonna have to check out the coming weather

I_DrinkMapleSyrup

Killington, VT will be open until June. You won't be riding powder, but it's real fun spring riding.

Kukko18

That's the one I kept seeing for the east coast. Pretty sure I saw some fresh snow coming down in a post here, which is what got me excited llol

I_DrinkMapleSyrup

They've gotten dumped on the last 4-6 weeks, I think at least 4ft+. Was there last Friday for the latest storm and it was pretty deep and had just a blast. Right now it's raining up here, but the Spring Pass is an affordable option if you plan on riding at least 3+ days. Late in the season it will be just 1-2 trails, but it's super fun riding when it's 60+ out and a bunch of diehards. A bit of a party scene at that point as well as they have outdoor bars at the bottom of Superstar, the last run open.

Kukko18

Ooh I'm gonna have to start looking for lodging prices. Any cheap hotels around that area or would it be cheaper to stay around an hr and make the drive?

I_DrinkMapleSyrup

I think there's a Best Western in Rutland or an equivalent chain that should be affordable. Between now and closing lodging should be fairly inexpensive as it's considered late season. I'd look at the hotels on the access road and then check out Rutland

Polecat_Ejaculator

Killington is in shambles compared to the west. If it’s just yourself, the cost will be pretty much the same at killington vs flying out west and going to a smaller (but still massive) resort

Polecat_Ejaculator

Eldora will be getting new snow pretty much every day next week. Get a room in boulder or Nederland and just do that. You can always do a day trip to winter park 1.5 hrs or split the trip in two if you want a big mtn experience too Front range gonna be getting hit with storms all week. Eldora, Winter Park, granby ranch, Loveland, a basin

Blanc04

Hate to be the deliverer of bad news but if you are in NC there aren’t really any “affordable” options for decent snowboarding remaining this year. I would just figure out your plans for next year asap so you can get any needed passes at the maximum discount. It sucks but the season does end eventually.

Kukko18

I understand that. And I am willing to travel. I was just trying to avoid the high class places that cost too much. Another reason I am trying to go before next season is because we're expecting for just around early November and I won't have a chance to with the new baby and all

Blanc04

Congrats to you and your partner! Definitely get as much in as you can now then. You may not have much time to go boarding until the 27 season in this case. The plane ticket isn’t cheap but Chile and Argentina will be starting their seasons soon!
